Sanguchon Alameda Reviews
If you want an authentic Peruvian pan con chicharron, this is your place!!! I brought my parents for lunch and we were not disappointed! Their prices are expensive, but all the flavors were on point! We also got the aji de gallina empanada, the mushroom empanada, and maracuya (passion fruit) juice. We plan on returning!
Top notch delicious! Minds blown today when we came in for lunch. We had the pan con chicharrón sandwiches, ají de gallina empanada, chicha morada, maracuya punch and of course Cusquena lagers. Peruvian family telling you this place is where it’s at. The flavors! Spot on perfection. We thought OUR aji de gallina recipe was #1 but Saguchon has us beat. Can’t wait to come back
Alright, this place is excellent. We got a lomo saltado sandwich today and I already can’t wait to eat it again. It is a mess to eat, the kind of sandwich that once you start eating you cannot put it down. You’ll need a good amount of napkins to clean yourself up but it will be worth it. The flavor is so savory, so deep, a little spicy, the meat is perfectly cooked, and the fries are exceptional in the sandwich! So do yourself a favor and get this sandwich to your mouth.
Welcoming space, friendly staff, two nice outdoor seating areas, and delicious food. We especially enjoyed the fried crispy chicken sandwich (tender and crispy, good flavor, excellent bun), mushroom empanada (tasty filling and nice pastry), and pork belly fried rice bowl (satisfying combination of flavors and textures). The French fries were also nicely crisp on the outside, tender inside. And bonus to have a nice selection of beers and other drinks.
First timer and I was amazed how delicious the sandwich was. Adobo sandwich was loaded with flavor and very filling. Service was great and the salsa music playing through out dining area made the atmosphere pleasant. Indoor and outdoor dining available.
The food here is AMAZING! We ordered the Pork belly Skewers, Chicken Empanada, Adobo and Plantanas. Every Dish was a star in its own right. It’s a tiny place, but the food is Big Time!
Loved Pan Con Chicharron and chicha morada And what a fun way to participate in a trip to Peru.. so cool.. I'm so glad I finally made it to your restaurant and it brought back memories of Peru
First time! My mom and I drove by it and figured to give it a try without us being “hangry” starving. We were not disappointed! Mom had the mushroom empanada, I had lomo saltado sandwich and we shared a papa a la huancaina. The meat and veggies cooked perfectly, the spices and the bread were so good. I definitely will come back!
Came here with a friend and thank goodness for a 10% discount from Yelp! Even better reason to come. Good: - Solid food! I loved the lomo sandwich - great portion size - almost too much but I finished all of it and got the sweet potato fries to sub which made the sandwich taste even better! - Good ambiance - easy to hear people and have a conversation Bad: - Pretty causal place - no service really self serve Overall really good place to catchup with a friend - they have outlets which makes things more convenient as well!
Makes total sense that Sanguchon started life as a food truck before opening a physical shop because the Pan con Chicharron Sandwich has that vibe about it. This is not your bog standard sandwich shop sandwich. I had been out mooching about the shops on Valencia the other Sunday with my bestie and I needed to eat something quick and easy. She had been to Sanguchon before so we decided to stop in. I asked the person behind the counter about the Pan con Chicharon sandwich. He said it was his favourite item on the menu and suggested that it was big enough to share. My only regret was following his advice. After taking one bite, I knew that I would have wanted the whole thing to myself. So I returned 5 days later, alone, and had another. Beautiful tender meat, soft yet crunchy roll and gorgeous flavour. My new favourite sandwich!
The peruvian sandwiches here are great! Probably the best peruvian sandwich place in the city. Me encantó el sanguche de barbacoa! They have a lunch special during happy hour that's a great deal too, a beer and either sliders or a combo. I highly recommend the barbacoa sliders
Fresh and modern seating with authentic Peruvian sandwiches. Had barbacoa with egg, tasted amazing. French flavors with delicious pork.

Great food here at Sanguchon! I had the pollipapas and it was delicious. Love the chicken and sauces and perfect fries too. The rest of the menu looked so good as well
Absolutely incredible. I got the Chicharon sandwich. My mind is blown. Hands down the best most incredible sandwich I have ever had in my life. Will be back very soon.

Yucca fries were garlicky which was a fun new twist. The vibe is def takeout, but seating is available and cute. Get the spicy sauce, it’s soooo good.
Very inviting, especially when you see a pig in their logo. I came in having a great expectation for the pork. The food is good and seasoned well, but pork was not as soft as I would have liked. Portions are good, too. It will definitely satisfy and keep you full. The service is fast, and there is plenty of seating inside and outside. With kids, we opted to sit outside to keep them a bit more entertained people watching.

Very unique for the area! It's down-to-earth food, but a nice breath of fresh air from all the Mexican and Chinese around the mission. Got the pan con chicharron and it was a pretty decent sandwich. The pork was rich, peppery and braised to perfection. Fell apart in my mouth. It's perfectly paired with some pickled onions, and in case you're not a fan of the sour flavour, there's a whole sweet potato in the sandwich to ease out the flavour and add a hint of sweetness. Overall, great sandwich with incredible amount of layering. That said, nothing crazy special, just a bit unique. A bit pricey, but it's the bay area. I'll probably be coming back to try out their other dishes.
I visited this place after seeing it recommended by several foodies, as I wanted to try something different. It’s a to-go spot, but they have a few tables to eat there. When I arrived, the staff was very friendly, and they suggested the lomo saltado sandwich and fried yuca, along with a beer. The total was over $30 for these three items, which I found a bit pricey for what I got. While waiting, I noticed they were getting a lot of delivery orders, which raised my expectations. However, when the food arrived, it wasn’t as impressive as I had hoped. The bread and sauce on the sandwich were good, but the lomo itself was pretty average. The fried yuca, despite having some toppings and a cheese sauce, lacked flavor, and a better seasoning could have really elevated the dish. The atmosphere wasn’t very comfortable due to the heat, but my cold beer helped me get through the wait. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not enough to make me want to return. It’s not a bad place, just not one that fully won me over.
The pulled pork sandwich was good. The rice bowl was interesting but the rice was a little too el Dante for me. The outdoor seating works out well. The cashier was nice!
Not bad, but not insanely good like I see a lot of the reviews stating. Also, $27 for yucca fries and pork shoulder adobo and a scope of rice is a bit rich. One a positive note; the fast casual setup works well for this concept and the service is great.
