Spice I am Alameda Reviews
I always know I will get a good meal at Spice I Am. We have been eating here for quite some time. The food is always very fresh, the staff are always friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean, with a good quite atmosphere.
We love this place for a low-key lunch when we visit Park St in Alameda. My favorites are the tofu fries and the pa-nang curry. My husband also enjoys the tofu fries, and he usually gets the cashew nut lover for his entree. As Thai food lovers, we're always surprised they're not more busy!
Spice I Am is our favorite Thai restaurant - very extensive menu, friendly staff, they're happy to customize dishes to your liking, and we enjoy everything we get there. Highest recommendation!
Earlier today I Ordered 4 menu items, each new to me. My friends and I agreed, each was superb! I especially loved the duck soup broth.
Grateful for the gluten-free options. Food was delicious!
Went there for lunch. Had the barbecue beef salad, which was on a nice bed of fresh greens. Nice and crunchy. And the beef was well prepared and well flavored. The portions were generous without being overwhelming. The atmosphere is on the quiet side, so it's nice to have a conversation with your lunch partner, and the decor is understated and not distracting. The service was prompt and the food was good.
Had the most delicious curry, veg & tofu lunch. The service & atmosphere were wonderful. Can't wait to go back!
Their crab mango house rolls are fabulous. Everything here is delicious. The basa fish, pad, and curry dishes are a delight. Mango sticky rice for dessert makes it perfect. Great prices and staff.
Foos was delicious! The amgel wings were the bomb! Will be back!
The pumpkin curry is one of the best I’ve ever had. Great value & great service! They boxed up our leftovers for us and we even got a little mint at the end!
Oh my goodness! We are still talking about how delicious our meal was. We ordered 3 different Curry Dishes and every one was delightful. Service was impeccable and price was too reasonable to believe. Quality all around authentic flavors and beautifully presentation. Enjoy!
Food is always so tasty and they do not skimp on the servings!
Excellent!! We ordered Phat Thai and loved it. By default, it is not spicy. The dish came out with different spices / sauces that you can add - all were delicious! The interior of the restaurant is very relaxing with nice piano music playing in the background. Prices are very reasonable too.
Good food. High prices, but it's Alameda so what do you expect. I went here on a Thursday around 1:30 and it was empty. Just me and the group I went with. My water glass was never refilled. But the food will make me go back. I'll just be sure to bring my water bottle. The calamari was fancy looking but tasted great. I ordered the pad see ew. My go too Thai spot choice. The pad Thai was nice too
The tofu fries were eye rolling good!! I also loved the tofu panang. I will return!
Delicious food with fresh ingredients and spices. I can never seem to get past their specials menu...it has such a nice selection of dishes! Pleasant staff and reasonable prices, too.
Delicious food. Great, friendly service. Great value for your money. This is our favorite Thai restaurant in Alameda and our go-to spot for dinner before a movie. The staff is friendly and attentive. They remember our preferences and always polite. The food is served quickly and fresh from the kitchen. I recommend the fresh spring rolls, Pad Thai, and Thai iced coffee.
I had the green curry from their standard menu and the fried mushrooms from their specials menu. The curry had a delightful flavor. Eggplant pieces were especially tender. Chicken was not tough or chewy as is sometimes the case in curries. The flavor was perfect. The fried mushrooms were some of the best I have ever had. They were panko battered, which gave them a fun and balanced texture. ~$30 with tip for one person. Two minor disappointments: I got rice noodles, which were a solid mass and could not be teased apart. I suppose this means they were overcooked or old or both. And there was a scoop of crushed red pepper in the bottom of the quart container rather than any real attempt at "hot."
Great food with a nice spicy kick to it. Get the sea bass in garlic sauce. But you can't go wrong with anything you select on the menu. Their brown rice is phenomenal, which is rare because I don't normally like brown rice. Parking might be difficult depending on the day you're there.
I ate panang curry tofu. My friend ate crispy fish with veggies. Both really good Dishes. We ate during lunch and the prices are so economical, I ordered a meal to go.
Man! This place is really good! Funny thing is I was trying to make a decision on which place to eat while sitting at the Alameda wine and arts festival. A lady overheard me saying my options and she turned around to basically tell me how good this place was. And she wasn’t lying! Great service, great food and reasonably priced. 👍🏿👌🏿
Been going here over a decade, never disappoints.
We usually order from this place to go, as its one of the few places that makes krapow the way we want, with minced chicken. This time, we went to dine in. Service was really nice, and the food was really good! I'd say its pretty affordable and the portions were huge. Tofu spring rolls came with the best peanut sauce I've had so far! And the Khao soi was very delicious, I finished my giant bowl, which i didn't expect 😋 Will definitely be back 👍🏼
We have been to this restaurant several times and have not been disappointed once. Today was mushroom appetizer ,Red Pumpkin Curry, Mango Chicken, and Pad Thai. The service is great, food is always fresh.
We love this place, its affordable and the food is good. We really like their fresh shrimp rolls, the curries and their hot tea. I've tried other dishes as well but we always order the fresh rolls and a curry. The peanut sauce that comes with the rolls is delicious. We are so glad that we can dine indoors again since the first time we tried it it all came in boxes and it's a different experience compared to having your food served in a table. The service is always nice, our waiter is always checking on us to see if we need something else or to refill our hot tea
Wow! So far the best Thai resto in Alameda. Clean and staff was great. Everyone was happy with their lunch specials. Will be back.
This is some delicious tasty food cooked with love. Little hard to see from the street. Calm atmosphere, great fresh ingredients. We ordered an eggplant salad with scallops and minced meat. So delicious, not greasy, fresh with a symphony for the taste buds. It’s a warm salad. Drunken noodles with calamari, wow.And Tom yum soup sooo good as well- great lemon gras taste. Thank you. I have been disappointed with Thai food restaurants lately and this place made me fall in love with the authentic Thai tastes again. Definitely start coming only here from now on.
The best food in Alameda Hands Down! I highly recommend the crab fried rice but mix it with pineapples and put it in a pineapple. Fried prawn fried rice is great. Also the mango chicken. I also love the potstickers ,crispy chicken, prawn roll.
Unfortunately, the photo is missing some coconut rice because it's my favorite. Often bring out of town guests because quality is consistent and wait staff is exceptional. My favorite is the eggplant. I often try what others are eating which is delicious.

Excellent Thai food. We did takeout, so no rating for atmosphere. But looks like a cozy establishment.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Alameda...actually anywhere! The food is delicious, the staff are so friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is relaxing and welcoming.
A+ all around. I got wonton soup with ramen and it was SO good. And the portion size was huge.
I have ordered from this restaurant several times on Uber Eats and decided to order pick up while in Alameda. I think the food is delicious and the portions are generous.
Always a great experience at Spice I Am! This past week I was part of a large lunch group, service was prompt and attentive. Everyone enjoyed our meals. I love their Drunken Noodles and Thai Basil. Family members love their curries, especially Yellow and Green. Highly recommend dine in, but we pick up for dinner some times and it is always piping hot!
Great food! Very generous portions. They did a good job with “mild” for those who wanted things not so spicy. I can’t wait to get deeper into the menu.
I love going here! My new favorite spot for Thai food. Decent prices, service is awesome, and food is delicious! My favorite g-to's are their shrimp pad thai, chicken yellow curry and pork red curry!

This was my second time visiting Spice I Am. The first time I was in a group and there were several others in the restaurant and the food was really good. The second time it was just my friend and I with no one else in the place and again it was delicious. Different meals, different circumstances and both were wonderful. Highly recommend it.
It's a decent Thai restaurant and a decent price. The one time I visited (for my niece's birthday) there was no wait. If you're in the area, seek this place out. If you're elsewhere (like where I live) there are likely equally good and value priced Thai restaurants much closer to you.
Very friendly and prompt service. Food arrived quickly and was very nicely presented. I ordered a colorful and delicious version of brown rice. The pad thai and red curry vegetables were excellent.
Ordered three plates and everyone one of them was delicious(crab fried rice, pumpkin curry and pad see u). Only reason it wasn't a 5 is they forgot to bring the hot tea. Great place!!! 58 BUCKS for three meals.
Spice I Am (not to be confused with Will.I.Am) is tucked in between Tucker's ice cream and a local video store. Modern, no frills decor with cool large minimalist pieces on the walls. Lunch service was swift and efficient, with affordable specials. I went for their marinated short ribs, which included a mound of brown rice, steamed vegetables (cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli), and a delicious salad with ginger dressing to start off, all for 9 bucks! When I asked for it to be spicy, my server instead offered to bring the spice mini-cart. While the spice mini-cart trifecta indeed packed some heat (crushed red pepper, chili sauce, pickled jalapenos), I have to say that pickled jalapeños are no substitute for pickled thai chilies. Or fresh thai chilies. Or even fresh jalapeños for that matter. The short ribs were deliciously spiced and grilled. A good amount of fat off the bone, but that's what one would expect from short ribs. As I was making my way through the plate (good portion), I found that the rice wasn't really adding to the meal. Upon paying and leaving, I asked the server about the option of ordering my lunch special without any rice, and what impact it would have in terms of portion. She responded that they would be happy to offer more steamed vegetables, which would actually be pretty cool. This is the best second best Thai food I had in Alameda, after Toomie's Thai. Four stars very well earned, and I will certainly take the 3-minute walk from work (Hearing Zone) to come back here!

I got the beef pad si I, chicken satay, and Thai iced tea. The chicken satay and Thai iced tea were both very very tasty and at an amazing price. The beef pad si I was just ok, the beef was terribly chewy and didn't have much flavor, and the noodles were also a bit kinda lacking. But the veggies and eggs were really good so it evened out to a solid yummy meal. I really like this place, definitely worth a stop!
I would rate this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. Service was attentive, fast, and polite. The atmosphere is minimalist and modern. The food was decent but lacked flavor. We ordered Pad See I and BBQ Pork with mixed vegetables. The noodles were cooked nicely, but the chicken was a bit dry and it was bland. The BBQ Pork wasn't barbecued, it was closer to grilled and did not have the char you would expect from a BBQ plate. Overall, a slightly above average meal in my opinion.
Pad see ew is extremely bland ☹️ Chicken is pretty dry too

Our food was tasty but the beef in two of our orders was really tough. Flavors all good but meat not tender. Soup fantastic would order again as well as roti. Pad Thai beef needs work as well as beef for salad.

Super bland; won’t be ordering again. The fried rice was flavorless. The medium drunken noodles were spicy hot, yet somehow also bland.
Really wanted to like this place but the food is ok, inconsistent and expensive. The currys lacked depth of flavor as the sauce appears to be made ahead of time and meat or tofu is cooked in it at the last minute. The green beans were good, well seasoned, fresh and crunchy; the mango chicken lacked depth of flavor and the meat was very dry and overcooked. The phat thai is average with 3 shrimps, again, expensive for the price. The screaming xo shrimp and scallops were good, not overcooked and seasoned well. The coconut rice was gluey so stick to the regular rice. Service was good and attentive. The menu is extensive so pick and choose and a decent meal can be had.
Even though the food is delicious, i highly recommend not ordering from there for DoorDash or takeout. A few times I’ve ordered I’ve gotten curries or stir fries in paper boxes that spill EVERYWHERE. I only live five minutes from here. Within minutes, the sauces of the food seep through the thin boxes and leak all over. See picture. It’s wild you would put liquids in these thin paper boxes. This has been a common issue here so I’d recommend you eat at restaurant. I wish they would change this it’s so frustrating and difficult and spills/leaks everywhere, wasting so much food!

Ordered for pickup, I’ve never thrown an entire meal in the trash. The food was inedible. How are they even in business??
