Squat & Gobble Alameda Reviews
The food is delicious, the café isn't busy and they didn't mess up ore order. 5 stars. Stop buy for a quick meal and end up staying for 2 and a half hours. Definitely recommend this café.
Great service, BEST coffee in the city! The menu is vast and fantastic. This is my go-to for breakfast or lunch in the city. Everything is delicious, and the staff is wonderful.
We had a 4.5 star experience which we're going to round up to a five. The French onion soup is incredible as are garlic fries and the strawberry crap with ice cream and the salmon. And the view of watching trains go into a tunnel. Can't be beat. I feel like I'm really in San Francisco. This is the best place I've eaten that in West Portal. And then I'm going to go over to Goodwill and then I'm going to go over to the bakery after this. What a great place. The photo is our view couple days before Christmas.
Went there for breakfast yesterday. I enjoyed the Whole Thing, which was a cinnamon crepe with roasted walnuts and also a chai latte. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They checked in on us several times. Overall a great experience at this spot!
We decided to give this brunch place a try since it’s few blocks from our place and we had a great experience here. My husband ordered breakfast burritos and I got Italian crepe which is savory crepe with Italian sausages with generous amount of cheeses and veggies. I really love their dishes were healthy and not overly salty which is the case for many restaurants. Mine was full of flavors and portion was so large that I took the leftover to go to have it next day . My kid got chicken tenders and they were delicious. I am so glad that I’ve found a great brunch place in west Portal and can’t wait to try some sweet crepes next time !
Great portions, great flavor. This was a great food options. We stopped in for breakfast. This place is close enough to San Bruno to make the trip worthwhile. We had a couple omelette's and a crepe. Every thing was delicious. One of the omelette options was with house potatoes and the other with a side salad. The crepe was full of flavors and came with an ice cream scoop on the side.
This was the neighborhood brunch place that I passed by twice a day on my way to school and work. My family and I visited again one last time this weekend. We got a benedict, crepe, and fried chicken sandwich. The benedict and crepes were pretty solid. Both came with a side of roasted potatoes. The fried chicken sandwich was the star of our meal. Even though the person who ordered it is usually a picky eater, the were very satisfied with it. I hope something great will take Squat and Gobble’s place. I get sad whenever I see a local “icon” close up shop.
Love the food and the location is very convenient. Prices are a little high but the food quality makes up for it.
Clean restaurant, lots of options. The food was tasty, I'd go back. Service was friendly but a bit overwhelmed. If the restaurant can afford it, maybe higher a helper.
There are plenty of open seats for a Saturday. We ordered the tuna melt, Angus Burger, Mac & Cheese, and scramble eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Portions were fairly larger. The burger had a nice charred flavor, a very thick patty. Perfect amount of food for me. Fries were crispy yet soft on the inside. The Mac & Cheese has choppy green onions with it.
This review is for a togo order so it’s just strictly about the food. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with the side of the potatoes. The hollandaise sauce didn’t have much flavor and didn’t add much to the dish, the smoke salmon is just cut up smoked salmon that you can get at Costco wasn’t anything special, the poached egg was good though and perfectly cooked, the best thing about the dish was the side of potatoes they were crispy and delicious.
Squat and Gobble is a long standing SF brunch place where you will find locals eating. Their quality have decreased though, the huevos rancheros and fresh squeeze orange juice were good but the beans were undercooked and way too spicy. Their orange juice is DELICIOUS. The capuccino was more like a latte and with no flavor. The holandaise sauce and lox were good, the potatoes were excelent.
Tasty Bourbon Street omelet & 1 pancake. I drank water, because I'm on a diet. The waitstaff were friendly and helpful. 6/19/20: Mexican salad & french onion soup. Both very good. 2/16/21: i ordered delivery from here. The French onion soup was great, like always. The Beyond Beef tacos tasted like beef & were fresh. The 🍟 were Crispy, how I like them. Great lunch! 3/23/21: Tasty breckie 🌯 burrito. Very filling! Good 🥞 pancake.
Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Standard fare. The extended review... Food: Citrus Grilled Salmon - 3/5 - Taste was pretty standard fare. The good thing is that you get salad and fries wit it. Service: 3/5 - Pay at the counter seat yourself model. Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - A decent setting with ample seating. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Standard portion size.
I wish I had known that the simpler items were not worth the price... I thought that the Triple Gobble (pancakes, two thin slices of bacon, and two eggs) were going to be a big portion like the rest of the menu considering it was $17 and over $20 after tax and tip. Once I got my meal I was like oh... this looks barely filling. It didn't taste bad but it didn't leave me with a good feeling that I got a well-worth meal. Could they make the portions or price a bit more reasonable...? The wait staff were also too busy to bat an eye at you. Nothing was special.
Meh, go somewhere else else. Overpriced, overcooked kirkland eggs with burnt coffee and astronomical prices. You can get much better quality of food and service literally anywhere else. The saddest $90 spent.
