Yes it's a diner but I still had to give it 5 stars! This Diner has been here well over 55 years I remember going as a child so they must be doing something right! Many years ago I remember they had a long copper hood behind the serving counter must have been worth its weight in gold they should have kept that for Nostalgic reasons. Food is always good burgers Etc and when they have it their beef stew is off the hook. The waiters and waitresses are always friendly and go out of their way for their customers. I mean it's a diner so It's not actually a five-star dining experience but I gave it the 5 stars for the wait staff the cleanliness and the great tasting food.

Got order to go. Owner lady is the nicest person I had ever met working in a diner. Very friendly and outstanding customer service. Food was fresh and made in timely manner. Will for sure be stopping by here again.

Excellent service, my famy and I love coming here and are always treated great. Today their outdoor seating area was full but the manager was kind enough to set up a table for us so that we did not have to wait. Then when I had to leave to pick up a family member that same manager offered to keep my food warm until I got back. That is service that is above and beyond anything we would have expected. On top of all that the food was very good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this diner to anyone in the area.

Classic spot for a quick bite to eat. Never any complaints. Except for once, I had them take back an order I was displeased with that I had also bitten (French toast), and the cook put it back on the grill to meet my liking. That's a health code violation. I politely paid and left. He must've been a new guy, because I was so disgusted and confused, professionally and as a customer

I think this may be the first 5 star review for me and it is deserved. The service was fast and friendly. The set up was great. The eggs Benedict... It was perfect. I've never said that about a diner meal b4. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise was excellent, the sausage was SO good, the English muffin was even perfectly toasted. I don't ever expect perfection because I don't like to set myself up for disappointment and even the best restaurants can definitely make mistakes but this was just a perfect meal. I think I've only ever had 2 other times where I felt that way about the food that I bought and this just immediately became #1. Thanks guys, keep it up!

Good place for some brunch with my friend and baby. They were very nice and accommodating of my giant baby stroller. They have a decent sized parking lot which is a plus. Food was good and came quickly.

I have been going to this diner for years. The food is delicious. The owners know who you are. They greet you with so much love. The waiters and waitresses are fantastic!!! They talk to you like your old friends. They make you feel so welcoming, this is one of our favorite places to eat.

Cant go wrong with most of the food on the menu. I love their steak quesadillas. They come with different sauces and the serving is pretty large for one person. Wait staff is always making sure you have water glasses topped off etc. prices are decent. Would recommend getting any of their salads if you eat healthy, their medium is pretty big and the large is huge.

I always went to this diner after a night out, and have breakfast. $17.00 for a cheeseburger deluxe is a little steep for today. Still the people are great. It is a great place to ea out , with friends and family..

I have to applaud the Esquire Diner and it’s staff/owners! These men are top notch individuals!!! Today after stopping at 3 other establishments begging for a bathroom Esquire let me use theres. I was so gracious that they let me tinkle that I knew I needed to order something. I wanted to be a patron after there kindness. I got to try there fantastic cold brew coffee and was given a mini-lesson on how to make it as well. These gentleman were exactly that gentleman!! I appreciate your kindness, your amazing coffee and I will without a doubt be back the next time I’m local. Thank you again!!

This diner is my favorite! I've been going here for years with my daughter. The girls up front are always friendly and sweet. The wait staff are attentive and just all around amazing!

Following that, the same manager offered to keep my dinner warm till I returned when I had to go to pick up a family member. Service like that goes above and beyond what we would have anticipated. Furthermore, the food was quite tasty and reasonably priced. We'll most certainly be returning, and we heartily suggest this restaurant to everyone in the region.

There is onsite parking. The diner has wheelchair/handicap access from the rear entrance. Excellent variety of foods to select from on the menu. Great food and service with real diner prices. The food was served quickly, hot, and very appealing to the eyes. The food was delicious. Family-friendly atmosphere. Attentive servers. I will definitely go back. I went there for breakfast after a half day at school with my friends. It was around 11:00 am, they seated us in about 3 minutes. Service was kind. The Breakfast was good. It was comfortable. I got the French Toast with eggs. The syrup was prepackaged but still pretty good regardless. Came with LOTS of butter on the side, really great. I also got a hot chocolate. Was good but seemed really rushed, it could have been mixed more, obviously they used a prepackaged mix. The time we went there was pretty full of people however, so they were really busy. My friends didn't complain about their food, they said it was really yummy and tasty. It is best to go with a group of people to sit and chat and eat. Overall I would rate it a 6.8 out of 10. Not outstanding but pretty okay :)

Just moved into the neighborhood, so im trying different places around here. I was very pleased with the service. My server was attentive. She kept checking on us and filling up our cups of water. I just wish their salads would use a more nutritious lettuce because iceberg lettuces are just water. That's why it's 4 stars instead of 5.

Most waiters/waitresses are polite and welcoming. Except for one older lady in particular, don't really want to share her name out of respect for my elders. She was rude and not once did she come by to ask how we were doing. My husband ordered his meal with both bacon and sausage (the meal was one or the other). We got our order and realized he didn't get both. After waiting 10 minutes to get her attention, my husband tells her that he didn't get the extra plate of sausage. She claims that she did bring it out and that he must have eaten it and forgot that he ate it. The nerve of that woman! Don't ever want her as a waitress again. Otherwise, service and food is always good.

Its a really good diner overall. I ate there with 5 people including my soon to be 3 year old daughter and we all loved it. Very friendly and fast and pretty clean which it was pleasant since I have a toddler.

Diner has great food. Great customer service and the restaurant has really fast serve times. I am sometimes amazed at how quick they get the food to you. Also being open 24 hours is a great perk. The only downside seems to be the higher than average prices, but if you are ok with that, then this is a great establishment.

this is my favorite 'local' diner. it seems lately that these types of diners are scarce. we must do our best to keep small businesses like these, which are mostly family owned and operated, thriving. here you can have a good meal, at an affordable price, and support local businesses. I hadn't been here in a little while and decided to take my mom out for breakfast. When we walked in, we were greeted like we were just here last week. the staff remembered my mom and stopped to have conversations with her. Before retirement, my mom owned a local small business and she treated her customers the same. we understand small businesses and understand the importance they bring to a community. So, if you see the Esquire marquee as you're driving up Crossbay Boulevard, and you're hungry, stop in! Sit down and enjoy a nice meal surrounded by a warm and wonderful staff. You'll want to come back again and again. You'll even tell your friends about it.

I go here for breakfast once or twice a month and it is my go to diner. You never have to wait too long for a table (unless it's a holiday) and the employees are very friendly. They have a good selection on their menu and all of the food is good, better than average for most diners. Prices are fair. The atmosphere is great and both the tables and booths are comfortable. It's likely one of the best diners in the area if you want a reliable place to go to.

Went for breakfast with grandkids. Coffee cup stayed full, a positive. Kids waffles were very good; one ate every bit while the second grandchild, a very picky eater, ate half f hers, more than I expected. I had simple eggs and toast - what is there to say about that - it was as expected

I used to come here as a teenager at 2am and get disco fries. Haven't been here in almost 30 years. Anyway, our waiter was very friendly. Eggs are eggs and the burgers were pretty good. My daughter loves the Mac and cheese.

My first time there. Had breakfast and it was so busy we had to wait fifteen minutes for a seat, however, it was worth it. Really enjoyed my beef sausages, over easy eggs, coffee, and Callahan French toast. Service was on point. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. I look forward to going back.

Good comfort food, very "homie" environment and huge selection of food. Its a great diner to have in our neighborhood. Its just a little bit more expensive than what I would expect in Queens. Bill came up to $25 before tips for apple pie with ice cream and order of french toast with fruit jam.

Ive been here a few times and i love the idea of local food. There mozzerella sticks are to die for and I'm in love with them, i think its worth the price. The staff are sometimes a mix of polite or trying to rush you out the door. Usually, the service and staff are so much better in the mornings. They are attentive and usually accomdating. When I come during the evening, i often feel rush and feel like the waiters want me out the door. Which sucks, i love having a quiet conversation over comfort food, but it is what it is. In terms of ambience, the place resembles a pretty boring layout, yet i still find the place comfortably homey.

The service took too long My nephew and my sister we waited about an hour and 20 minutes for our food. And we weren't able to get a booth we end up sitting on the counter where I was uncomfortable cuz I have long legs. The food wasn't all that great. As far as the atmosphere well because of long waits to be seated it's obvious that the attitude of the people we're not so happy.

It's an ok place. It was rated a B. The wait staff is generally nice and so are the owners. The parking lot is small and fills up easily. The Diner seems a bit small inside, the food is nothing to write home about but passes muster. Also crowds up quite quickly and there tends to be a wait during the primary meal hours, especially weekends! It's an ok place to go when you're in the mood for something quick.

My sister/friend and I ate breakfast here Monday 2/5/24 We live in the area for 8 to 10 years. I was so disappointed we when received our check. We were being robbed without a gun!!! We both had a strawberry banana waffle with a scoop of ice cream a side of bacon, one tea and one cappuccino. Our bill was $80.88. When we complained the waitress told us she didn't know the prices so she put what a waiter told her. He came over and seem to be fine with making up prices and itemizing everything on the plate. He then recalculated the bill and decided $68.65 was fair he insisted this would make us happy. I have never left a diner feeling insulted and robbed. We have been to this dinner many times. This is the first time we were served by these two individuals. We will never go to our neighborhood diner again. This experience left us very upset and disappointed. Please check your bill...

I've been to this diner at least 60 times. Food is ok. Try and get seating on right hand of entrance. Seating on left side in the rear is tight for little people only I guess. Now for the good stuff.....beware of a certain waitress that upon presenting check gives you chicken scratch. She purposely writes like a doctor to swindle you to pay more. I've caught her several times overcharging me $5 or more $$$. The other item which is important, pricing is up there.... Generally food is served warm and not hot as it should be. Why do I go to these place? It's the better of 2 evils. Not the greatest.

Very quick servers and nice staff. The selection is very limited to diner food. The desserts are extremely limited. My advice try another place if your looking for great food, but if your looking for an average experience then look no further.

Great food but extremely over priced. for example: i ordered a western omelet, Without anything else! no drink, no potato, no toast, no coffee. bare omelet. my bill was $15.75 for comparison in other diners i can get a seafood plater for $21.00 you be the judge. If you go be prepared to spend, i personally will not go back.

Table still had crumbs on it! I was rushed to order while waiting for a friend. The diner was basically EMPTY! I said table for 2, I was asked 3 times if I’m waiting for someone within 5 mins. Would I like to have food on the table, I said no. Again saying I’ll order when she gets here. I was brought 1 glass of water but 2 menu & silverware. They were obnoxious!! I won’t recommend them to anyone.

Super slow service, my server took forever to greet me, take my order, and cash me out. The food was expensive for such bland food. The OJ was warm even though I asked for ice several times. It wasn’t the best experience, I will absolutely not be back. Rather go to cross bay down the street, better service, better food, and way better prices.

Service was great! Homefries tasted like canned potatoes. Definitely, not as good as they used to be! And the prices... !..?...My goodness! 2 breakfasts meals (i.e.1 was with bacon, 1 was with sausage) 2eggs, homefries, toast coffee= $35 THATS INSANE!

We had a breakfast in the morning, was ok, not so fast but friendly service, left around 40% tip. In the evening kids asked for a cheesecake, I checked the sign outside the diner - it said dining until 21:00. Went there - they said they are closed, cannot get me a cheesecake to go, because everything is closed. Feels like accidental customer is a burden to them. Hope they’ll get less of that burden.

This place has low quality ingredients for the same price as other diners. Pancake deluxe didnt come with eggs not to mention the Pancakes were flavorless same as the home fries, corned beef hash wasnt fried well, eggs were very airy and you can tell by the color they are of the cheap kind, iykyk. I did like the sausage link tho.

I've been dining at this establishment for years.. I'm giving it 2 stars just because of the waffles. Best waffles I've had anywhere. Light, crunchy and fluffy at the same time. I had breakfast there a few days ago and my niece wanted pancakes but when she tasted it she said it tasted like strawberry pancakes and that she didn't like it. So I tasted it as well. It was super sour and chewy. It tasted as if it was made with spoiled milk. I told the waitress (who was very nice) and she put in another order. Next batch of pancakes were even worse with a sour and gummy texture. Eventually the waitress came and said her boss tasted the pancake and they figured out the problem (didn't tell me what though). My niece who was obviously still hungry at that point ordered a waffle. Of course the owner did not come to our table and apologize and didn't even offer to comp my nieces meal at the very least. There are better Diners in the area. Save your money unless you only want waffles. The coffee used to good not anymore. Everything else that we've tried just not up to snuff.

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, I ordered a Chicken Salad Wrap that came with Potato Salad. The potato salad was rancid & I had to throw it in the garbage. I called Esquire Diner & asked to speak with the manager & the woman who answered the phone said she was the manager her name is Elizabeth. When I told her that the potato salad was rancid & that I would like a credit for my order, she curtly answered and said that they put a little vinegar in it & that they were extremely busy & rushed me off the phone. I wasted my money today. Don't order home delivery from them! I will not order from them ever again.

This is the Sirloin Steak..... As you see No Onions, No Peppers or Seasonings smh and it has no Taste.... $22.50 for this and the Mash Potatoes No Taste at all & Watery

Absolutely horrible food & on top of that it was way overpriced. I got a soup & mozz sticks & it was $20 & change. The mozz sticks must have been sitting in a freezer since 2019. Absurdly horrible food. This place makes prison food seem like a gourmet delicacy. Everything tastes bland and stale. They serve you in huge quantities, but the food is inedible. My party of five left everything in their plates, almost untouched. Beyond disappointed. Go elsewhere.

Terrible, food is NOT FRESH AT ALL & NOT delicious, 3 out of our 4 plates had spoiled rice in it... that non of us did ordered...??! 3 Plates out of 4 were left almost untouched. Expensive & the food was bland and flavorless. The eggplant parmaian was mushy and the chicken salad triple decker tasted like nothing. Then when I told them that I was taking this slop home, they gave me the boxes to box the food myself instead of the waitress taking it to the back to box it. Thank God my wife can cook better than this place. You're better off going to White Castles which is not too far away.

If I could leave this place no stars I would. I have never been to a restaurant so blatantly racist. When we walked in we were immediately seated which was about 7:40. Upon entering we realized we were the only African American there, yet this did not stop us from wanting to try food from a diner in our neighborhood. We had great hope with quickly came to a holt. This is because after being seated we waited 25 minutes to be serviced. As we waited to be serviced we watched waited constantly check in on other customer pour coffee and take orders while they continue to act as if we were not sitting there. It became more aware that we weren’t just over reacting we the lady across from us and the cop beside us kept shaking THIER heads. This experience was completely disappointing as this is a community where my grand mother brought and owned a house for over 40 years. A community where I spent a lot of my childhood until my grandmother moved back south. Just to think that all we wanted to do was experience some of the food that we read such great reviews about and was denied is heart breaking. To make it worst when I confronted the lady at the host booth she began to argue with me that we didn’t wait 25 Minutes when she wasn’t even there when we came in. I guess Esquire is a great diner as long as you are not of African American decent. My people please be aware and spend your money else where.

Had 3 orders of eggs for one table and not a single one was cooked properly. Eggs Benedict came well done and over medium came over easy. If you can't cook a simple egg you just can't make food..

So I recently moved into the area and decided I wanted the Comfort of diner food I did a quick goggle search and came across this place I read the reviews as I do before I patronize any establishment but I am definitely a believer in everyone has a different experience and considering that this location was less than a mile from my home I decided why not give it a try. Disappointed to say the least I ordered the hot open turkey sandwich which string beans and “homemade mashed potatoes “ I know I am from the south so I thought delicious BOY WAS I WRONG the bread that the turkey was served on was hard clearly outdated. There was nothing homemade about the mashed potatoes they were watery and definitely instant can you come to the string beans what’s that brown spots zero seasoning and hard. Needless to say while the people was wonderful the food was not and therefore I will not be a repeat Customer

What a shame! First of all, I should warn anyone who reads my review that this is NOT about the food whatsoever! This is strictly about the horrible owner who is such a turn-off to the establishment. The food may be good, but I’ll never know because I know for sure I will NEVER eat here. The owner is a miserable, wretched little person, if you could even call her that at all, because she has no heart whatsoever. Ok, so this diner is located right next to a preschool, where 2-5 year olds attend. I don’t know if this lady hates children or what, but she has a HUGE parking lot and some parents quickly park there to drop-off/pick-up their children. I personally have parked there (in the morning for drop-off) only 3 times. Twice because I didn’t know how to get to the back of the school, and once when I got lost trying to find the back of the school. Now, I understand her concerns about pick-up (as that’s in the afternoon and more busy), but I’m the morning? Each time I’ve gone, there is literally only 2 cars or less! The place is empty! And I heard her that day I was late screaming at the principal of the school (who’s the nicest lady ever)! How dare her! No compassion for the parents! Her wicked character tells me about the type of establishment she runs. I’d like her to try to speak to me like that. Just because you own a diner doesn’t mean you can treat people anyway you want. And if she came correct at the parents, I bet they wouldn’t even park there. Horrible, terrible woman, just completely nasty! Her attitude is what turned me off from ever eating her.

It’s not the same place I use to go to in the early 2000s. The food sucks!! Wasted my money on frozen food. I think these are different owners ,they don't take pride in giving you fresh cooked food it’s all frozen and they warm it up to serve it just for r a quick profit. Absolutely disgusting we ordered buffalo chicken wings with some kind of pink sauce on the side absolutely disgusting it tasted like ketchup. My husband order the chicken souvlakia Way too much spice on it. He couldn't even eat it. I ordered the chicken paniniyou would think it supposed to come on like a Texas toast. They put it on some flatbread just killed it wasn't good at all..we tried to tell the manager didn't want to hear it. Just said to us that's the first time ever here here and that.The only good outcome was that was a waitress was very nice. But we definitely won't be back .

One of the worst place ever I ate. Please don't get the salmon if you ever need to stop by here. The fish was definitely old, had a musky taste. The manager was quick to inform, "I'm going to charge you for the salmon but you can get something else." It was so rehearsed, you can tell they deal with this in daily basis. Some food is good, but way overpriced. a gyro platter for 20, 1 10lb box of the gyro strips costs 43.00 at restaurant depot, I just paid half the box for 6 strips. the box has like 300 strips. I will not go back, other diners' way cheaper

Horrible I ordered a quesadilla it was huge and greasy like they just threw it on the plate. I tried to cut it up to taste it not good at all. It went right to the garbage where it belong.

If you don't want to get sick, don't eat here. the rolls are moldy so watch what you eat!! The starter rolls they were moldy too.

I would give this place less stars if I could, unfortunately we were very disappointed with the quality of food here. We ordered bottled waters with lemon, and the lemons smelled of some cleaning substance. We still gave them a try after this. We proceeded to order a chicken sandwich with onion rings, a mozzarella burger with waffle fries and popcorn chicken as an appetizer. The chicken was anything short of popcorn and half the chicken was unseasoned and unbreaded. They then gave us a plate with was supposed to be coleslaws and pickles. Just see the picture and it speaks for itself. The manager is clueless as to them having all these options on the menu and the food quality is trash. If they were to narrow their menu down to a couple options, they’d be able to send out quality food dishes.
