Halsey Ale House Albans Reviews
We chose Halsey Bar & Grill for a catered event. Delivery was smooth, and our guests really enjoyed their meal! We liked that they had a diverse menu of Caribbean/Guyanese food as well as American food. We will definitely be ordering from them again! Highly recommended.
Went here to catch up with my friend. We had an amazing time. Met the owners amazing people.
The food is just AMAZING!! We had wings, boneless chicken bites, pasta and nachos... Everything was soooo good!!! Our server, Juice, provided an outstanding service and her customer service skills should be recognized! We are visiting NYC for the first time and this was our first stop for eating. You don't want to miss this culinary experience.
Delicious!! Everything we had was tasty, flavourful, fresh, and hot. We ordered almost every appetizer on the menu. Its been awhile that I've been out and enjoyed food that showed a talented chef, who cared about quality and presentation. And the calamari...I can't get back there quick enough.
Ok so its a pandemic going on outside and I am a first responder essential worker. I'm tired and not cooking. I love the food and really wanted to keep the place a secret for myself but they deserve credit!! I'm very picky but I am seriously pleased with the taste of my food and the portions. My only issue was calling to get my food on a 5/2/20 Saturday the girl seemed to be new she put me on hold and never came back to the phone, I needed to add to my order and get the total. I tried calling back a bunch of attempts and no one answered. Both of my visits cost me $65.00 don't judge me I'm hungry but I had food for a few days lol I ordered a bunch of things! Thank me if you do try the place. They are awesome, thanks HB& G👌... you have another very happy customer!
Nice little joint in the cut. Have passed it many times and never really paid much attention. Stopped in with a friend for dinner and was surprised. Not fancy, and little small but it was cozy. The atmosphere was lively, the bar was full and the staff friendly. The menu selective and the food was decent. Had the salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies. The potatoes was homemade, the veggies fresh but the cream sauce for the salmon was not at all creamy and bland. My friend had the Dominican steak and onions, which was pretty much just pepper steak but it at least tasted homemade. The drinks was delicious, and the staff attentive. The prices a little high for the neighborhood, but cool place for a meal and a few laughs.
The food and service were great! But beware of the 15% service charge we were charged. We were told it is for people who use cc’s but when we offered to pay cash we were told it would not change. We still tipped 20% as we were told the service charge did not include the tip. We never returned during our vacation and never had a service charge higher than 3.5% at any other place we visited.
The Rasta pasta I had was amazing. I’ll be trying everything on the menu in the coming weeks. Nice atmosphere, good service and people in general. Next time I visit I’ll have a few drinks. I highly recommend this place and will be returning soon. An update to my review....I went in and tried to speak to someone at the bar, the first guy behind the bar looked me straight in my face and ignored me. The female behind the bar looked at me walked to the other end of the bar then after a few minutes of doing nothing came and looked at me like I had an issue. I finally was able to place my order for the Rasta pasta. I waited 32min for 2 chicken Rasta pasta orders. I paid and left. Getting home I noticed there was a significant difference in the food. It was less than half the size of the the food I received the first time. If I had combined the food from the second order it would be 1 of the plates from my first order. Yet I was charged the same amount. Absolutely disappointed. The food was delicious but I’m not sure about returning if the food size isn’t going to be consistent. The first photo is the food I received the second time the second photo is the food I received the first time. Noticeable difference.
The food is good. And the happy hour drinks are GREAT!!! Update: 10/8/21. I went there yesterday, & I spent $85, this includes tip & a service charge from them. And I'll make it short & but not so sweet; out of the three dishes I ordered, only one was okay. And I mean just okay. It was all a waste of my money. At this point they'll get two stars from me (not four). I'm sorry, but I have to keep my reviews honest. The food was either salty or tasteless.
Where to start … food is good, besides them not having any lobster on a seafood day they advertise on there social media page. But service was HORRIBLE ! There was about 12 of us. Apparently there was only 1 cook, and everyone’s food came out at different time . After two plus hours and paying the bill, we was still waiting for the last entree to come out, which was ordered with everyone else. We had to take it to go. We was so upset and over it . I don’t recommend this place if you have a party of more then 2 people !!
We checked this place out for their $5 tacos and drinks, and honestly, it was a terrible idea. The tacos were way too salty, and the wings were gross. The fries were decent, though. The portions are super small, and they serve your food on paper plates with drinks in plastic cups. The server was really attentive, which was a plus, but the vibe was just awful. And ladies, if you need to use the bathroom, skip it! No soap, really dirty toilet, and a mess all over the floor. I usually don’t give reviews, but I felt like I had to warn anyone who’s thinking about coming to this place. Total waste of time!
Never been here but just ordered from DoorDash. WORST FOOD EVER. Got a full refund. It went directly into the trash. The oxtail was unseasoned and bland and tasted weird. Even the string beans had an odd taste to it.
