Mexican Restaurant Tenampa Albans Reviews
I have been here twice now. The food each time has been amazing and the service is always the best. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Food is always great here. Wonderful family business. Service is friendly and food is promptly served. Great food item selections.
Just south of the truckstop and away from the questionable food trucks lies this little gem. The food and service is fantastic and the prices are unbelievable for the quality of food you get here. I almost don't want anyone else knowing about it.
Every time we come to Albuquerque, we eat here, a few times. The food is THE best Mexican food!!! Better than at home! Our area has lots of Mexican food. None can compare to here. 😄
One of my favorite places to eat in Albuquerque. The food is great and the people who work there are very friendly. Very good service. I recommend the queso and steak.
Great service and tasty food. When we order pickup, its always ready in 15 minutes or less. Bean and carnitas burrito is the best burrito ive had.
Excellent food with the most friendly owner/staff! Highly recommend!
If I could give it 10 stars I would. Been here a few times and it's always incredible. There are 2 places out here so far in albuquerque that are more on the authentic Mexican side and this one is is so good. I've been a lot of places in and out of the US. And I would put this place up against any other Mexican restaurant I've ever been to.
Great food and service. Food came out right away after we order. Huge portions at very reasonable prices. Tasty New Mexican food!
Good Good Good! Food was great! The location was nice, clean, and soothing; you can sit there and actually enjoy your food. The ladies serving were very friendly! I’ll be back for sure.
This place was wonderful! The employees were professional, caring, with a wonderful attitude! We were treated like family! We ate the Steak Tanpequeña it was super delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone! We will be coming back again!!!
Omg,what a find!! Just landed at Albequrque airport heading to Grants, wanted some fresh Mexican food. Amazing food, large portions, and excellent, friendly service..they close at 400pm,so very lucky to have a meal here.
Fabulous New Mexican food! Stopped halfway on our 10 hour drive. The food came out fast and was so delicious. The Sopapillas at the end were an extra treat!
Really great food here. Courteous and prompt service and reasonable prices.
This little jewel has the best green chili in the state!! We have been to Albuquerque twice and have eaten here 4 times. Service is also amazing with exceptional service. A must.
The service is always fast and friendly. It is our favorite spot for Sunday breakfast. The food is delicious and always freshly made. Sopapillas are amazing!! Love this place!
We’re new in town. Luving on Albuquerque. We looked for Mexican food near by and found Tenampa. Wow, the food is amazing. Try the enchiladas or menudo. They even have breakfast. Over the top. Great staff. Family owned place. Dad behind the grill.
Food is great and the hospitality is awesome. Family run business, so they take pride in what they do best! Recommend this restaurant for the best food in town!
The staff is very helpful and great. The food is great. Never got sick. Very big portions Always stop there on way to California.
Service was excellent! And the food was very very good. It is hard to find a authentic Mexican restaurant. They are small but the everything inside is great 👍
Excellent food, low prices, and a great staff. Locally owned and operated, the menu is much more extensive than you'd expect from such a small location.
This is a start up in a strip mall just off the interstate. The decor is fresh and the staff were fun and engaging. They love where they work. The food is fresh and satisfying.
We've been enjoying 4+ years eating in at Tenampa New Mexican food on 98th and Central we love the friendly chats with the friendliest Chef and co-Chef and always last but final waitress/waiters you all are fast and we give you all five stars great job
The food is excellent, service is stellar, good conversation with staff and customers. The place fills up so you know it's has to be good. Southwest corner of historic Route 66 and 98th Blvd.
Finally got back here a year later. Got rv hooked up and had to head down for dinner. Taco salad was perfect and staff was very friendly. Looking forward to breakfast soon.
Everything I have ever ordered has been great, and the service is even better than the food.
One of the best New Mexican restaurants in Albuquerque! We tried as many as we could while we were there over a course of 3 months and Tenampa was our favorite! Get a stuffed sopapilla! You'll thank me.
Very nice staff. Prices are very affordable for the amount of food you get. Probably one of the best if not the best RED chile in burque. Sopas are good too. Would highly recommend. Quick service
Stopped in for a Burrito! Gal up front was super nice on helping me with the menu. Ordered To go and had my food ready super quick! One of the best burritos I’ve had!!! Might have found my new breakfast spot!
Food was delicious! 1st class customer service, kind, and courteous. We showed up unaware that it was right before closing. They could've turned us away, but they instead greeted us and sat our family down quickly. Thank you, Tenampa.
My wife and I travel and love Mexican food. This place was a coin toss while we were exploring for 10 days, and are we ever glad! The food is incredible and service is great. We made repeayed stops here and will come back when in town. A treasure!
Very good food and excellent service. I had the adovada enchiladas and they were the best I've ever had. The chili con queso dip was very good as well. Two dinners with an appetizer and dessert less than $40. Will definitely be back!
First off the chips and salsa are amazing. Then I ordered the Adovada burrito. The waitress asked if I wanted red or green sauce. I told her I wasn't sure, can they just put cheese on it. She said yes. This burrito came out and it was a burrito sized burrito. Not the small size ones you usually get. It came with beans and rice. I was also served a fresh hot sopapilla. This thing was as big as my hand. Really good service. Then to top it all off. I was blessed with an older lady paying for my lunch. God puts people in your path at just the right time.
The food was very good! We had the carnitas tacos and the steak tacos. Had a taste of the red chile to make sure it was good and yes it was. So, I will definitely be going again. Friendly family owned business.
The staff was very attentive and very pleasant… food was great price and enjoyable thank you!!! I had a steak and my husband had a burrito… both were cooked perfect and yummy!!!
We took a chance on the previous good reviews and found this marvelous restaurant. Don't be afraid to ask questions about sauces and menu items, like me with my limited authentic experience. Excellent service, food, and cleanliness. Beautiful presentation.
Delicious food, great service, great prices, friendly attentive staff. My favorite restaurant.
Mia the owner and her daughter are always nice to me and always get my order right even when the stores closing within 30 minutes they still make my order perfect I will always come here and recommend people
Used to live near there… best bean/cheese/green chile & breakfast burritos!!! The family/employees were always nice! The rest of the menu was good but I loved those burritos!!!!
Quick and respectful service. Very good salsa and fresh food
Wait staff is top notch. They remember my order, and it is authentic red chile. This is bar far one of the very best restaurants in Albuquerque for real New Mexican food. Always very clean also!
Conveniently located close to us is a blessing in disguise. Haven't had anything on the menu that wasn't good. Do yourself a favor and order the tapiquenia steak at least once. I bet you will try it again, and again. You won't regret Tenampa!! And their staff rocks!
Great staff. Great food. We have been in Albuquerque for 4 days and this place is the best we have had in our time here. Food has excellent flavor. Staff is on top of everything. Will definitely come back here.
My favorite place to eat breakfast & lunch. The staff are wonderful, friendly & professional. Food is always amazing.
The overall vibes and energy of this place is incredible and it’s all upheld by their beautiful and lovely server Mya! She gives excellent service and every time I’m there I feel accounted for, even then she’s the only server there normally and she treats everyone with kindness and respect. The food is as good as the service Mya provides. This place is amazing and I love going to eat here. I’d go everyday if I could. If you guys see this just know you have an amazing restaurant full of great vibes and great food!
I love this place! Everything is so good! From the French toast to the burritos and enchiladas! It's become a fave spot to get my lunch! Excellent service and food comes out within 10 minutes of ordering, which is amazing when your on your lunch break!
The food is always amazing! 🤩 The green chile chicken enchiladas platter is my favorite! The lunch specials rotate on a regular basis and always provide for a new, great gluttonous experience!
This place is the best Mexican Food I've been to in a long time. The employees family owned are very nice, knowledgeable ,helpful, respectful and very busy at that.. you can call ahead order and pickup when you arrive the place is so busy all time and very prompt every time someone needs assistance. My Favorite is Chile relleno burrito they make it the way you order it. On point no complaints If I could give them 10 stars ⭐I would . You won't have any regrets eating from there so give it a try and get you some yummyMexican food.
I have been coming to this location for probably eight years now. I’ve had New Mexican food literally at every spot in the Albuquerque area. This is definitely in my top 3. Family Owned and ran. Very nice family. Amazing customer service.
Loved everything about this place! Food was amazing and authentic and the service was exceptional! The price was right, too!
I've gone to Tenampas for years. They have a great tacos pack that comes with beans and rice, and easily feeds 4 or 5 people. That's what we get when we're doing take out. When eat in, the waitress can memorize all the orders without writing it down. Service is always quick and friendly and the food is always good.
Delicious! Popped in for breakfast based on the reviews; and it did not disappoint! Cleared our plates before we could take a picture. Hubby ordered a bacon breakfast burrito, I had the ranchero plate, and we split some French toast. Great flavors, excellent service - we will definitely be back!
This food is amazingly delicious. The chile is tasty and not too hot, but has a bite. Sopapillas are some of the best, not masudos, but soft and crispy. The smaller dining space has a nice cozy feel, and the service is great.
We we're recommend by a few people about this place. Now I know why. The waitress was so thorough, friendly and she was busy but on her game. I ordered the chorizo skillet. It was fresh, and delicious. Red and green chili was excellent. Came with choice of tortilla or sopapilla. I chose the sopapilla. She dosen't write down orders, she remembers them and nails it. Impressive. The restaurant is clean and smells clean. Great place to eat and talk. I will definitely be back.
The food is absolutely amazing, the prices are reasonable. However the staff has always been very kind. I am fortunate to live very close and enjoy their food frequently.
I’ve always loved this place ever since they were Chatas. One of the best items they had were their refried beans. They were too die for. I went there yesterday or day before and bought 2 quarts of refried beans because they’re so good. I spent $20 on 2 quarts of beans and then I bought sopapillas and Chili so the total cost me $40 . When I got home, I was disappointed. The beans tasted like dehydrated Beans that you had water to. Nothing like they used to be. I will not go there again. ☹️
Their posole was really good and the lady at the counter was very sweet!
Amazing amazing tacos. Ordered the steak taco dinner. Cilantro onion cheese lime guac. Fresh food and meat, had no off putting smell.clean bathrooms. As soon as i saw women cooking and cleaning the place I knew it was going to be good food amd Clean. I was right. Women tend to be cleaner and more observant in their cooking and cleaning. Especially Hispanic women
OMG 5 STARS!! I think I applauded actually. The service is amazing. The food was beyond amazing. I am the PICKIEST person ever and they special made me my burrito. The beans… home made not watery or from a can beans.. that needs its own 5* . The salsa was so good. I wanted to drink it out the little dish. Chips … perfection. So light and crispy. It was sooooooooo clean and quiet. Perfect Sunday lunch date. 2 people u day $40 too. You HAVE to to come HERE!!
Great family owned place. Outstanding service, generous portions and outstanding quality! Carnita Platter & Steak Tacos were legit
The food was incredible and the staff were very very friendly. Eat and shop local!
The posole is the best in Albuquerque. My girls love the menudo. Little place with a big flavor.
Delicious food and great service. I ordered the sopapilla with a relleno, and they gave me a sopapilla and honey on the side. The food was delicious. The store was clean, thanks, and God bless you all.
It is now under new owners. I will miss the former owners, but PLEASE continue to come and eat here. The FOOD is still prepped the same, always very good!! The former owners shared the exact same recipes for the new owners. We need to support our local small businesses. The staff and owners are really nice. Let's give them a chance. 😊🙏
After a long journey from Texas to California and back to Texas this food was just what we needed. Delicious homemade authentic Mexican food that hit the spot. The waitresses were so nice and provided great service considering they were only 2 and extremely busy with people coming in. They provided service with a smile and were attentive with our needs. Highly recommended!
Fast service and delicious food. Waitress was polite and friendly. I will be back!! Easy parking and everything was clean. There was a flat full size Elvis poster board. The chimichanga was cooked perfectly with chicken and green sauce. The sopapilla was huge...like massive (like belly when we left lol)
07/31/2021 Excellent 👌, I ordered the ♥️ Red chilli chicken enchiladas🌯 Sister Denise ordered the green 💚 chilli chicken enchiladas and Sister Diann ordered the breakfast pork chops 🍳 breakfast🍽️plate all costing about $13.84 each individual plates - reasonably priced 👍The Sopapi's we're fresh and piping hot yum 😋 Fresh chip's served with both Green and Red 🌶️ chili sauces.
This place is outstanding! They never disappoint. Every call in order is hot and ready within 10-15 minutes of ordering. Delicious Hispanic food breakfast and dinner. Cannot wait to see them expand this to more locations around Albuquerque they have my business and the business of everyone I’ve suggested to eat here.
The food is so good it's like home cooking and the staff is always awesome my family and I truly love and crave this place all the time!!! Were all so happy it's close to our house too we are always ordering out salsa and chips!!
It's a Mom, pop, daughter and grandchildren run restaurant. Dad cook, mom also in the back while daughter runs the front end with usually couple , randomly 3 kid/ employees total. One appears be son of daughter( previously think was a daughter also) then other random employee. Food and service is good. Nice portions. Even though it's family ,young kids, they stand up front chit chat, laugh they still come check if need anything, everything ok as well as preparing baskets of chips, clearing table, refills of drink and hugs to grandma. Not very big place but plenty of customers on a weekend to keep them busy.
Edit 7/30/23: I still love Tenampa's but... It's unfortunate that their prices have skyrocketed. I found a menu from 5 years ago and the taco dinner used to be $23 + tax. But I ordered recently and the price has almost doubled. It was $40.95 with tax. I get that everything has increased in price but beans, rice, and corn tortillas are the cheapest ingredients. Maybe the meat? But there really isn't a ton in there. Unfortunately, it's too expensive for us to come here often so our eating out has really dwindled. So I'll be cooking at home more often. Original 2019 review: My boyfriend ordered from here since it was recommended by his auntie. I had some the next day and the food was amazing. Even the next day. Salsa had a good flavor and bit of spice. Homemade chips were perfect. Beans and rice were sooo good! Tacos were excellent and the chicharron burrito is so amazing. We got the tacos pack and it was a great deal. I live right down the road, so I believe I found my new favorite restaurant!
Customer service was awesome. It wasn't busy. Around 1pm. I had the Chile Relleno plate and wasn't impressed with the batter. The rice wasn't like how I like it, the beans were good. Sopapillas were delicious.
Tried the Indian taco burger with green chile and it was pretty tasty. Prices are also pretty decent.
Family owned hidden gem! The food is delicious at a fair price. I would consider myself a regular. Stuffed sopas and enchiladas are delicious. Fast service for when I’m on the go. If it isn’t on the menu they’ll make it for you!!! Like the shrimp enchiladas I asked for today. Customer service is wonderful. Coffee could be a little better aside from that I have no complaints.
Honestly, it would've been 5 stars, but 1 item was too much. 5 bucks for fountain drinks is a bit much don't you think? For a family of 4 that's 20 bucks just in soda! I do have to tell you, the food was really good, New Mexican. So im glad I came. A family of 4 with tip was $100.
Very nice staff. Clean. Prices average. Good guacamole. Chile not hot but tasty. Pictured below is Enchiladas Rancheros & Combo plate with enchilada, relleno, and taco. Sure, we would go back. Curious about the green chili stew. Someone was really disappointed that they ran out. Pleasant family oriented atmosphere.
3.5 stars The proverbial mom and pop hole in the wall restaurant. The owners are in the kitchen and the daughter is the waitress. Try the green chile stew,it's very good
The red chili fries were good and had a large amount. The garnish was rotten though, and you could smell it was, I'm surprised it was okay ed to plate. The tamales tasted like they had recently been frozen. The last thing was a stuffed sopa with beef and refried beans bit they forgot the beef. Though the fries were good, but not good enough to make ups for the rest. The servers are nice so tipped 20% on a Togo order. Might try one more time due to the reviews, but not looking forward to it.
Breakfast burrito is junk. $6 for eggs cheese and chili. +$1.50 for each additional ingredient. If you like to pay for a burrito thats bigger than mcdonalds, than go here. Because thats what it'll look like. Ingrediants not mixed well. If you want a california like-sized burrito than dont go here because you'll be disappointed for the amount of money you pay here.
No online menu, can you at least take picture of menu and post it. It seems that when I call a place with no menu the order taker is easily agitated because I'm asking too many questions and don't know exactly what I want. Think about it🤔. If you had an online menu I would not be asking so many questions. IT'S PRETTY SIMPLE IF YOUR TOO CHEAP TO ADD MENU AT LEAST POST PICTURES OF MENU.
Well, we stopped in based on the great reviews about 30 minutes before closing. All the chairs were already flipped, so we asked if they were still open. They rudely said "only takeout, we are closing" Ok, not sure why, there are plenty of employees and time. I should have taken that as a sign, but we ordered some nachos and a chicken sandwich anyway. While we are waiting, we sat down at a table. Food came out quick and we asked 1 more time, "hey, mind if we sit here, we are driving through and don't have anywhere to eat, we'll be done by closing" The answer we got was "NO, the owner said you need to leave." Ha! alrighty, to the car we just sat in for 4 hours we go! Then I asked for some salsa to go, and a different employee said "for what?" Uhhh, the nachos. "You don't get salsa with nachos", LOL, ok. If I could have eaten in, there was bottles of salsa for the table, but since I was involuntarily getting kicked out, my only choice was to buy a pint. SO, now lets talk about the food. The Nacho's were more beans than cheese, and just microwaved nachos with cheese and beans burnt to the Styrofoam. The chicken sandwich was meh, and the fries were not hot or crispy. I hate leaving bad reviews, but everything from the employee interactions, direction from the owner (he was there and heard everything!) to the food was not good. Not sure how they are rated so high.
Read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. There was one guy running the front/ waiting on tables. Possibly the rudest server ever. Clearly hated his job. Food was ok. I ordered soft chicken tacos that were served in a pool of grease. We were served sopaipillas that had been under a heat lamp for who knows how long. Struggling to think of a worse New Mexican restaurant. Even Little Anita's makes this place look bad. Bummed out. I really wanted to like this place.
Not impressed. I went for a margarita and they didn't have liquor license. There was a beer sign that lit up in the window so I ordered a beer. I was informed again that they don't sell alcohol at all. False advertisement. Don't waste your time. My husband ordered food and it wasn't worth it.
The menudo was very bad taste. Chicarones were not chicarones it was just cube pork. You would have thought this place would have known what it was. The stuff sopapillas were also bad. Wouldn’t go back to this place!
Ordered two chicharon breakfast burritos cost $24. The chicharon was mostly cubes of fat not cooked right at all. The green Chile was a weird sauce not regular green Chile. Worst breakfast burrito I've ever ate.
Lady with long blonde hair attending the register is Nasty. Wiping her nose as she has a salsa cup ready to fill and eating as she is attending to me. Food was cold and tasteless. I was charged 2$ over for a kids meal.. So VERY Sad that some people don’t take pride in themselves or their means of survival.
