Halal Shack is one of my favorite spots on campus. Their falafel over brown rice is my go-to, and it never disappoints. Recently, they've introduced some exciting new toppings, including the spicy feta, which is a must-try. The combination of flavors is outstanding, making each visit a delightful experience. If you haven’t been yet, you’re definitely missing out!
I've never had a problem with these guys. The rice bowls are excellent and consistent. Great for a quick lunch while at work.
This is hands down, the best of the best. If you have not tried this spot, its a MUST. This is the real deal, from the tender and fresh meat to the fresh veggie toppings, and lets not forget the white sauce!! the best part of it all. The staff there are all so friendly, you can tell that the owner truly cares about his clients and making sure they have a positive experience with halal shack in all aspects!
Best halal food in the Albany region! Every bite was just better and better. Out of all the options in the campus this is definitely the right choice in terms of healthy and delicious. Will definitely be back. Great service as well.
The number one go to spot on campus, the food served here is delicious and fresh everyday. Not to mention a very efficient line system. The staff is very kind with my favorite employees being the charismatic Mo and charming Shafi. I highly recommend coming here for lunch.
The food was so fresh and tasty. Loved the white sauce but you have to ask for both hot and white sauce, that really makes the dish. The wraps are great for grab and go lunch. I can’t wait till they open one up to the public.
I LOVE the halal shack! My fav dish here is zoodles and they bring it fresh to the counter. Half the experience is ordering and the staff is lively which is the falafel on top. When eating off campus, there’s nothing like trying to get hyped for food and then a squidward-attitude ruins the vibe.
My absolute favorite spot to eat in Albany! The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. Cannot recommend the crispy chicken with rice enough!! Here is where I discovered deliciousness. #halalshack4life!!
Come to halal shack! Food is so amazing and I absolutely love the rice bowl with a mix of chicken and beef. The staff is always smiling and the lines go by quick!

Good source of protein contains delicious dressings. Worth having falafel rice bowl!

First and foremost this is in a college campus dining hall. I didn't know that when I found this on Google maps so that was a bit awkward. The food is good. The naan and hummus are pretty mid but the meat was tender and the sauces were very good. Price isn't bad either.
I used to get lot of options of Mediterranean foods (chicken/lamb over rice) when I was living in New Jersey/NYC. I recently moved to capital region area of NY. Obviously I haven't got the same taste, that's even with more price here. Halal shack was good among the places I tried here so far. I ordered both chicken and beef over rice. I made a mistake of taking jalapeno pickle in one of them, that made it a bit more sour. Overall food was good. Obviously will try more places for the real taste !!
In the past, I have had good experiences at The Halal Shack. The same can not be said about last night. The customer service was nothing but appalling. I walked up to the counter to place an order and was ignored by the staff behind the counter. The girl behind the counter served several customers behind me in line. Agitated, I waited for about 5 minutes until they decided to serve me. On top of this, the girl who was serving me placed spicy chicken into my rice bowl, even though I had not asked for that. This incident was completely unacceptable and must be addressed. **Update (April, 2022)** Ever since the incident previously described, I have returned to this location and have not had any issues. In my experiences the employees have been friendly and courteous. It seems as if that this was an isolated incident that was quickly addressed by management. Therefore, I have adjusted my review from 1 star to 4 stars. Thank you, management, for addressing the issue appropriately.

Halal Shack offers either a rice bowl or a burrito filled. You can choose 3 items to add to your product including sauce. The problem is that the selection is small. You have a choice if either white rice or brown rice, followed by a selection of meat (either chicken or shrimp), then vegetables. It is great for a quick snack, but that's about it.

Be very careful when eating food from here. I used to love coming here often since it is conveniently in the campus center until I noticed that they do not safely monitor the food that they are serving. More than once I have received random scraps of metal in my rice bowl after slowly digging through the food and finding these pieces. Probably not going back here again due to the safety issue of this.

This place is in the middle of a college campus with no public parking. Waste of time driving here.
Where do I start with this knock off of NY-Style halal food? First off, they give you an ice cream scoop size amount of meat. Then douse it with some basic "spinner sauce". The rice is bland with coloring in it and the employees don't know shiz. The owner is smart... Charges an expensive price for a small quantity of food. You ain't fooling us real ones.. The lamb tasted old dude... I ain't coming back. You lost my business.
Extremely dissatisfied with halal shack this time around I ordered a nanarito but they did not have fries at the time. This is usually not a problem since they ask you to wait for the next batch but this was not the case that day. I was charged full price for nanarito + fries but did not receive fries. Normally this would not be an issue either but the staff working were extremely rude about it. If I had known before hand that they didn’t have them and I would have to pay full price regardless I would have ordered a different item.
