Amity Hall Albee Square Reviews
Oh Amity, where art thou Amity? Apparently in the Village. This place has more TV screens than any other bar I have been to. It's great because you can hold a conversation with someone while stealing glances at whatever sport is on that night. Lots of space upstairs for seating at the bar and at tables. Was here for the Alabama v. Clemson championship and it was pretty quiet. That's probably because people are kinda bored with those two teams. More relevant games are sure to pack this place. Food is solid. Service is solid. Location is solid. TVs are A+.
Food was really good along with the HH drinks. The Nachos, fries, and wings were all really good and fresh. The jalapeño marg and Irish penicillin were my favorite drinks there. Good spot for HH, I went on a Thursday and it wasn’t crazy packed.
Love coming here for playoff games. Our waitress Toni was awesome. Would def come back.
Had a great time and the bartenders and wait staff were amazing! Only issue I had was with the arrogant DJ working last night, Saturday March 12, 2022. Asked him to play one song and he got all annoyed and basically told me to F off. The smallest amount of power really goes to some peoples heads so easily, you’re a glorified jukebox settle down guy.
My favorite NYC sports bar. I travel from midtown to the West Village to partake in their amazing burgers. Super service from Marie. Lots of screens to watch whatever team you cheer for.
The staff here is incredibly proactive to provide service. The food and beverages excellent. In addition to this the ambience is quite chill and fun to hang out with your friends. The also have a 2 hour weekend brunch which is $35 prix fixe.
Stopped in for a quick drink on a Saturday night around 730 before a show at the Skirball. Doorman, hostess and bar staff were very attentive. Crowd was nice, as I was given a stool that was occupied but not being used by a human lol. Great music playing. Seems like a young crowd, but fun. You're only as young as you feel right? 😉 I definitely plan to return.
Stopped in for a quick drink. It’s Monday and they offer 1/2 price wings. They are on point, perfectly crispy. Staff is fantastic. Coming back.
Tasty food, friendly staff, lots of TVs, and an official Knicks Tap Takeover location. What more could I ask for?
Great spot for lunch. Bartender was working the entire place in her own and did a great job. Good food, great beers, and friendly serve. What more could you ask for.
Great bar near NYU. Young crowd consisting of NYU grad students with a mix of some older adults as well. My favorite place to grab a beer and get some work done for class. Staff ( especially Angela!!) is incredibly friendly and makes the experience great.
Great Bar, Great atmosphere and most of all the staff are amazing. While living in the city I had my own experience where Amity Hall became our local. After asking for a certain drink the bartender told us they didn't have it in but would get it in for us the following week. Sure enough, a week later, after just walking in we got the shout saying "guys we got that drink in for you".
Nice happy hour, fast service, decent drinks.
Hosted a private event here for masters graduation. Super amazing staff and service. They made sure to serve vegetarian food like we asked and let us decorate. Open bar and food platters were amazing as well. Awesome space!
I'm probably biased because I'm in the middle of obtaining my Beer 202 club membership, but I never would've began the endeavor if I hated the place. Amity is a blessed two-floored respite from the madness of the Village. Food's good, beers are best, staff takes the time to know your name. I wasn't born here, but I hope I can get married, give birth and die in here. Cheers! x
We had an event downstairs and the manager went above and beyond in accommodating our needs.
Very good chill spot for drinks and food and staff is always friendly. I came in with a large group of friends, everyone had an outstanding time. Highly recommended for social gatherings!
I went here yesterday to get a couple of drinks before the show at Webster Hall. Drinks are very good especially when they come with the happy hour price! Bartenders are very friendly and they mentioned that the food menu was recently updated so I decided to give it a try. We had a fig&cheese flat bread with fresh arugula on top. The texture and the flavor are amazing! Also ordered a crunchy tuna bowl- so fresh and yummy! This is not your typical bar food. I highly recommend this place and will be back for the bottomless brunch!
We had an absolute blast celebrating a birthday here yesterday! The staff were so kind and accommodating, and the food was delicious (sweet potato fries especially). Their indoor set up was incredibly comfortable for those who were hesitant to be back inside. We felt like we had our own section of the bar while still being able to chat across the room with fellow patrons. It’s the first taste of normal we’ve had in some time. Amazing experience.
Love this place have never had a bad time here! The food and the atmosphere are great! Toni was our waitress and she was amazing!
As a Manchester City supporter I’m slightly biased as I went to watch a match and had great time with the other City fans. But I have also been when City weren’t playing and the friendly service and good choice of drinks makes it well worth a visit.
We were hosted by Sabrina, and then later Rachel at the bar this past Sunday, when we wanted to escape the cold, and catch a bit of Sunday night football. Both Sabrina and Rachel were fantastic hosts. Rachel guided us to find a red wine that I'd love. I was amazed at her depth of information, and passion regarding wines. She really knew her wines! Overall, the staff, ambience and the friendly atmosphere of the establishment made this a highly memorable evening for me and my friend. I will only have the fondest memories of this time in NYC, especially at Amity Hall. Go sit at the bar, and ask for Rachel to guide you on a wine discovery journey. You'll cherish it.
This was our first time here great experience from the moment we walked in greeted at the door. We came for panthers game which we told host he said i have perfect spot for you. Waiter was extremely attentive and very pleasant. Food was amazing!!! Great drinks as well we will definitely be coming here again and we traveled in from New Jersey.
Kelly and Bart are the bestttt I love you guys you guys are the best
Only had drinks here with a friend and it was really chill. Kennedy was super good ppl and when we asked her to surprise us with a drink, she very much pulled through. An absolute vibe. Would go here again.
Loved thebar and the bartender was super nice!
One of the best Jukeboxes going in the Wash Sq./Village Area. Duplex Level Bar (which is cool) & a crowd which is a revolving merry go round of regulars, tourists and the surprise guests (like me with my NUU club that sectioned off part of the top floor with drink tickets given to us along with platters of food to share). The staff is solid & seem seasoned food-beverage professionals. "These are 'Bar People,' thanks Amity Hall! (A good time, a good drink and good food." - Evan
Booked a semi-private space with them for our wedding rehearsal dinner and they had an awesome event offering, and their event team was one of the best I’ve worked with in the city! They were so attentive, and even reached out week of as there was a big game scheduled to be streamed there the same time as our event so they moved us downstairs to our own section so that our rehearsal dinner wouldn’t become too loud or mixed with the regular crowd coming to enjoy the bar. Would definitely book with them again for an event, as well as would go watch games there! Definitely recommend.
Watched the big 12 championship here and could not have enjoyed it more. The food was good, the vibes were high, and the people there were as nice as you can get. We felt so welcome. Want to shout out Rob extra for being the absolute best.
Omg! Alexa was so patient with us, and was so accommodating the entire time! We stayed for around 5 hours which is so annoying, yet she was so kind and made sure we were taken care of. The manager Andy was also so reassuring and kind. He checked on us several times, and made sure the experience was exceptional.
This place is always high energy and the bartenders are all amazing. They have happy hour until 7pm and the food is a perfect addition. Gabriel is usually there on Friday nights and he makes the best skinny margaritas. Highly recommend, especially o na game night.
This place is awesome. Top spot in Greenwich Village. Amazing happy hour deals, and the staff even remembers me. Great spot for NYC, highly recommended!
This was an incredible venue for a 100 people happy hour! We had the downstairs place which had great lighting & right level of music volume, and allowed separate checks! Dream location for happy hours & events!
I really enjoyed this bar—the decor and atmosphere are spot on! We spent Christmas Eve here and ordered some happy hour beers along with nachos and chicken tenders. The nachos were huge and absolutely delicious, while the chicken tenders were a bit dry but still a good portion. I highly recommend the nachos! The staff was super friendly, and I just loved the overall vibe of this place. Definitely worth a visit!
What a place to visit for a Manchester City fan! The atmosphere was brilliant. They decorate the place really nicely for matches, and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. I recommend having one of the towers of cider but be careful, they’re pretty strong! The boneless chicken wings were one of the most joyous things I’ve ever heard whilst watching football.
The New York Blood Center has this place as one of their participating venues. After my project at Union Square, I decided to go here despite the rainy day that ensued. I had three vouchers from the center and let's just say that I made a good decision. Their food smelled awesome so I had a chicken little along with my entitled free drinks. I left the choices up to the bar since I'm not very picky. Anyway, I had a fun time here and the staff were super chill. There was an event planned here so I was lucky to witness it. Don't know what it was but it looked like the customers were having a swell time. Even though it's my first visit, I have more than enough Intel to conclude that this place deserves your time and your business. I would recommend and I say give it a chance to impress you.
A fun bar near NYU. I visited this bar last week with a friend and we both enjoyed ourselves. We had the bottomless mimosas (very good) while we waited for an event. Our bartenders were very friendly, and the atmosphere was lively as well. This seems like a great place to watch games as many sports shows we’re on while we were there. They have some good food options as well. Definitely a good time.
The burger is good, thoughbi think the beer selection is a little wanting. Wednesday at 7:30 is trivia and they bring in a guy that does a pretty good job
It's a nice bar/pub. They do have bottomless brunch on Saturday and Sunday for a reasonable price of about $30 a head. Service was good and food was good too. There might only be an issue if you happen to be handicapped because there is a flight of stairs in order to get in the place at the front
The bar offers decent drink selections (mixed drink is pretty reasonably priced), and the food aren't bad either - their fries, mac and cheese, and fried pickles are all pretty good bar food. I've seen promotions about Monday night dollar oysters, but I haven't tried them myself. The two-story bar has a very lofty and spacious upper level, which is perfect for group events. On most Monday and Tuesday nights the upper level is used for Board Game nights. Grab a drink, have some fries, and play some board games - not a bad way to start a week!
Large spacious bar conveniently located near the West 4th subway stop. Bar is a great place to watch a sports game, especially upstairs, because they have at 10 large TVs and a massive projector. The staff is also incredibly sweet, attentive, and fast; they certainly aim to please! Just one black from McDougal street so it's close to all of the hustle and bustle of the area but slightly removed which is nice. Haven't been here at night but I imagine it's probably a crowded college bar given it's proximity to NYU. Haven't ordered the food but it smells and looks amazing. They have a $30 boozy brunch special and themed nights every day of the week in case you are looking for a reason to go out. Bathrooms are also very clean given the size of the bar. Overall, would recommend to visit anytime during the day, it seems like it would be fun at all hours.
It's spacious and laid back. Came here for an event, which was packed. The waitress was amazing. I don't know how she kept everything together, especially since we weren't using the tables. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my bill. I was expecting the drinks to be a little pricier.
Nice pub-style bar. The burgers are really good, as is most of the rest of the food. The beer selection is pretty good, although the craft beers are a little expensive. There's pub trivia on Wednesday nights, which is a lot of fun.
Amity hall has a great beer list, good specials, and excellent Wednesday night trivia. I hear their food is good although I've never had it. It certainly looks tasty! But I've got to say, as a long-time bartender, clean. Your. Taps. You might not notice it in an IPA, but if you tend lighter or subtler in your beer choices, the taste is unmistakable. Skunky beer buildup from woefully underserviced keg lines. I'd stick to bottles and cans here, and why not? The selection is, of course fantastic. Just steer clear of those draughts!
Bar: great bar with awesome variety of beers. The bar is split between two floors which makes it a little nicer. The upper floor tends to get a little more rowdy. Service: The bar staff is all around friendly Food: great bar food. Their nachos are amazing Price: normal bar pricing, during happy hour drinks are $5 Would I go back: absolutely
I've been to the uptown location a ton of times. This feels similar but just not quite as good. Food is still great, service was fine, though a bit inattentive. It's a great spot for an after work drink and a burger.
There are so many options at this dual level bar which is great for private events or to grab a drink at happy hour. The upper floor of the bar as really high ceilings that even when the bar is packed make it feel spacious. There's a good selection of beers and happy hour specials as well. It's always the destination after the New York Tech Meetup each month.
Classic bar, w great and unexpected cocktail selections. Great beer, and pretty darn good bar food. I would almost all them a sports bar for the simple fact that they have multiple screens and typical have a futbol match on view.
This is a nice two level bar, and really liked the downstairs area with comfy and clean booth seating. Great energy and pop music, very friendly and attentive staff (got asked several times while the bar was busy), nice for groups, has a menu for good looking food. I'd come here again.
Average bar with an excellent game night on Mondays (worth an extra star). Food is pretty mediocre pub grub, there's a good size tap list but at least half is massmarket, it doesn't rotate much and isn't that interesting. Last time I was there, they did not have any dark beers at all. I come here for the games.
The perfect spot if you want to have a big party with friends. The upper level has long tables that can easily accommodate a large group. I love the huge selection of beers, and especially the draft Woodchuck cider. The atmosphere is a little like a pub, but the word "hall" is definitely more appropriate. The layout is reminiscent of a Viking mead hall (it was a real thing-- look it up!). The happy hour has $5 draft beers and basic mixed drinks, making Amity Hall a very reasonably priced bar for the location.
Your usual bar. I went for one NYU meetup. Quesadillas were surprisingly good.
Prefacing this with my being a homebody and non-drinker, so not exactly the target audience for a bar. I stopped in since I had a free drink from donating blood, and decided to order some wings to go along with it. The wings were super crisp despite the barbecue sauce and were a very pleasant surprise (justifies the pricing a bit but still more than I'd like). The "cherish me" drink was pretty good but also small, so value was hit or miss depending on your wallet. The bartender was nice and responsive, no complaints there. It was hard to sit down though, since there wasn't much open seating, but that would depend on the day. Overall, I'd consider going back.
We needed a quick place to eat after shopping and this was a great option for Monday night football (I’m a Eagles fan so i didn’t indulge in the jets lol ) for the 1/2 off wing special. I ordered jumbo wings specifically the jerk bbq and they did not disappoint! Had to take them to go and Miles was an amazing waiter and the host were welcoming. Definitely will return oh and the drinks were okay nothing too special lol almost forgot i had two drinks
A nice neighbourhood bar with good quality food and excellent service. There are two vibes in this place - downstairs is traditional, dark even and the haunt of local construction workers. Upstairs is more airy, bright and a more traditional sports bar theme. We went into to watch Man City (English Premier League) with the local New York City supporters club. An excellent visit, good food and beer and reasonably priced. I will definitely return.
A boisterous and friendly gastro-pub located in the heart of the west village. The pub is on two levels and can accommodate large groups while being inviting to a couple. Their kitchen offers a selection of tasty snack foods both hot and cold. A huge selection of craft beers are offered on draught and even more in bottles. Full bar offered too. Say hello to the General Manager, Tim who keeps the video screens lively and is on hand to welcome customers. Will return for brunch some weekend.
Decent beer selection and decent menu. Always had good service here and never had a problem with the food. Would be a 4 star rating if they took Discover; always have to subtract a point for stores that don't take Discover or Amex. Amity appears to be one of the odd places that does take Amex but not Discover. Resolve this and it would be a 4 start rating!
Been here a few times. Very easy place to meet a large group at. Their beer selection is way too crafty though - everything is thick and comes with tales of being brewed with un-beerlike foods in dark places... The food is mediocre but ok for bar food. Great big screen to watch sport.
Amity Hall is one bar in a hundred in this area, they have good specials but the food is nothing special, and they don't have any signature drinks or anything that really help them stand out. They are a two level bar, and they seem to draw a good crowd. Try a trivia night at happy hour.
Loud even when empty. two floors. Monday night board game night upstairs is no more, and was the best thing about this place. A wide beer selection that surprisingly changes rarely and doesn't actually have a lot of variety. Food is mediocre hipster pub grub.
All the workers are very nice. The place could be packed, but they take too long to come to the tables. Overall, I would def come to this place again for drinks 🥤
The food at this Amity Hall location was disappointing to say the least. Their signature burger was mediocre at best and was extremely under seasoned. The fries were okay. The spicy margarita was tasty and the vibes of outdoor dining were good.
Went in March, having a reservation helped. Place was PACKED. The service was stretched pretty thin but managed well. The food tasted like the kitchen was overworked and just trying to get food out, well done burgers all around. Last, they have some of the loudest music I’ve heard in a while at a restaurant… in true sports bar fashion.
I have been to this bar several times, but did not like my last visit. The bartenders acted like they were doing me a favor in serving me. I am an African American male and both bartenders were Caucasian females. I think that diversity training should be added to the program for this bar.
The food was okay. You get good portions. I liked the dam fries a lot. Way better than their nachos. Service could have been better but it's a college bar so you can't expect too much. Lol Its usually crowded and quite loud. Overall, a good place for a happy hour drink or two. And finger foods to share with friends. Move on for dinner elsewhere.
Came in for happy hour after reading g happy hour specials on the sandwich board outside. We ordered based off of the happy hour special for Tuesday night. Apparently the sandwich board was outdated. They apologized for the board being outdated but didn't bother to give us a discount or take the board down. NOT COOL
Great food & beer selection. Enjoyed the layout as well. The atmosphere was largely negative. When management is absent, the bartenders run the place like it's Lord of the Flies—kicking out marginally less affluent patrons while kissing the ring of anyone who tips over 30%. Having worked in the service industry myself, I understand preferential treatment; however, this goes well beyond that. The average man cannot enjoy a pint at this establishment without feeling marginalized. I cannot in good conscious recommend this bar to anyone making less than $150k after taxes. Buffalo wings were tender yet crispy.
Terrible service. Waiter checked on my party once and we were only properly serviced by staff from the kitchen when they were coming to clean up. Didn’t receive a water pitcher like the rest of the tables. Waiter was incredibly rude, and I can only refer to him as waiter because he didn’t even provide his name. When we FINALLY received the check we were not given a pen to a write down a tip and after waiting 15 mins (the restaurant was not busy) for the waiter to return, he never did so no tip was left although, I don’t believe one was earned. ON TOP OF THAT, I now see on my bank statement this waiter took it upon himself to give himself an $8 tip that he did not deserve. Will not be returning to this location.
Ordered from here on grubhub (Amity uses their own delivery drivers). After my order was 30 minutes late, I called the restaurant and they told me first it was on the way, but then after looking for an eta, found out it was cancelled by their delivery driver. I asked the Amity if they could cancel it on their end so I could get a full refund. I work in the hospital and see patients all day, I had to have a couple snack packs of chips laying around for lunch. Later when I get home I found out they never cancelled the order either. No lunch, no refund. I wish I could give 0 stars.
This is the last place I ate tonight and I have felt sick the rest of the day. The staff was also rude towards my friend.
Absolutely disgusting treatment of their customers. Even thinking about my experience here makes me nauseous.
The nachos weren’t very good and the trivia was bad. They took 10m in between each question and clearly were just trying to get people to stay and order drinks instead of playing a fun game of trivia. After two hours we weren’t even close to being done with the game, so we just left 🤷
“do you anticipate leaving soon?” Was asked this about 7 times. Forced out of our seats for a “rented” private party who never even showed up. Went about pressing the whole bar about some private party after making a reservation on their website. The hostess wants to quiz you and all they can focus on was getting us to leave after 1 hour. AWFUL EXPERIENCE
I’ve never experienced such awful service. I was here last night for a birthday party in which my friend organized an open bar that we were told would cost $65 per person. Well, when I went to the door and handed my $65, I was told it was $75. I didn’t want to argue so I gave them $75. I came to realize they tried charging my friend (who walked in right before me) $85. After speaking with other people who came to the party, I found out that management charged everyone between $65-$85 depending on how they were feeling when you came to the door. The management was so incredibly rude to everyone there, it was honestly unbelievable. You should not work in the service industry at a bar in new york city if you can’t handle it getting a little busy on a saturday night. It’s not that hard to treat people with basic kindness and respect. I truly cannot believe how rude this woman was to everyone she came in contact with. I’m incredibly disappointed and will not be returning back.
Clearly a space for a specific type of people. The bartenders and servers are rude with attitudes. When I asked a question about a drink, the male bartender felt unknowledgeable and unhelpful. I later went to close my tab with the female bartender, I was met with an eye roll, and blank stares while she said "i don't even know who you are." This isn't the kind of service I pay for and I will not be returning. 12/20 8PM upstairs location.
NOT a safe place for Black/Brown folk. Harsh looks and unwelcoming stares. Upstairs bartender tonight was extremely aggressive & unpleasant.
Hey you all. I don’t write reviews often unless something was abruptly nasty. I’m not here to provoke anything. Let’s talk about an experience I had on Monday, September 8th for a founders and investors mix that was hosted by Amity Hall. Full disclosure: I am a minor and this may have affected my experience. There are two people that I won’t “point fingers” at but were certainly guilty of mistreatment. Not to sound entitled, but the service was abysmal. This was a networking event for entrepreneurs and investors alike. I first, leave the area to take a call within the proximity of hostess, we will call her H. I come back down with another 2 friends, both of which have tickets to the event, and were inside the lower half of the restaurant prior to leaving with me and coming back. We are asked for our ID. We question this, considering we had no intention of ordering alcohol nor trapping the establishment to do so. We were here for the event and event only. One of our friends, over 21, explains that we are here as a group, not tagging along, because we all had valid tickets. H, complains that since we don’t have our ID’s, we can’t come close to the bar. According to Section 260.21 of the Penal Law, persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to enter an on premises (bar/restaurant versus grocer which is off premisses) establishment. A friend and I were both over the age of 16 at the time and were accompanied by a guardian over the legal drinking age. If you think you’ll lose your liquor license, you have some of your own research to do. There were 200+ people event in a 100 sqft area, maybe you should check the fire code instead. We asked if we could put name tags on (which most other people had besides me and one of my other friends) and write “Under 21, Do Not Serve Alcohol” to comply with them “fearing to lose their liquor license.” First of all, if you serve us alcohol and we comply, it is a Lose Lose situation. No one wins and we had no intention of doing so. Next, we as customers reserve all rights of sitting in proximity of said bar that we have access to because of an event, and the Penal Code does not restrict us from accessing the area. H says we were “being too hostile”. Not one of us had raised our voice. If you feel intimidated because of a young adult, you have some work to do as hostess, because apparently “you were doing your job”. So were we. Either way, we complied with H’s demands, who asked us to “sit down” in a seated area. So we did, which is obviously forbidding us from doing said networking. A few minutes later, our guardian asks the manager, Manaan (I believe his name was) if my friend and I can participate in networking. He gives us the thumbs up to all three of us, before immediately being shut down by H, who then asks Manaan to tell us to sit back down. I’m not here to provoke anything, but I would like a sincere apology from the poor management that occurred. I don’t want to be entitled to anything, but neither is the restaurant entitled to my respect. Do better, and take your business elsewhere.
