Chicha San Chen NY Albee Square Reviews
The bubble tea was amazing. Matthew was very helpful from when we walked in since he helped give us really good recommendations and explained all the different options. We also stayed for the tea tasting and it was very delightful. Matthew did a great job going through and explaining all the details. Would highly recommend!
Matthew was our tea tasting host and explained every step so well it was great! I also ordered a passion fruit green tea and it was amazing. I highly recommend this place. The teas are amazing and I learned so much at the tea tasting.
Finally we got a chance to try CC San Chen since the line was short, less than 5 people were in front of us. Usually the line wraps around the store. I loved the beautiful look of the store, gracefully articulating its Taiwanese origin and roots of the tea leafs. There are lots of spots to seat. There’s a screen that shows orders in progress. The corner part of the store has their popular merchandises. When it was our turn to order, I was surprised to find out we get to try the tea flavors before ordering. I tried the Oolong tea that was so tasty. We ordered three teas in total. It took about 15 minutes for order to be ready. The cups were so nicely packed with string attached to them for easy carrying. I loved the flavor of my bubble milk tea. It has a sweet taste to it. Bubbles were in abundance and they were so soft. Overall we were thrilled to finally able to experience the tea from the famous TW brand.
We did the complimentary tea tasting with Kevin and it was amazing. Kevin was fantastic and so helpful. Definitely will be coming back!
Wow!! My new favorite boba place. Very aromatic inside, smells like tea right in Taiwan! Boba is chewy and delicious, perfectly cooked. Taro is natural color with real taro in it, and it has a beautiful tea flavor that you don’t usually get in the taro boba in NYC. Highly recommended!!
Chicha San Chen is so much more than a typical milk tea shop. This was my first time actually staying instead of just grabbing a drink and leaving, because I joined their tea tasting experience. It completely changed how I see tea. The tasting wasn’t like a lecture at all. It was interactive and engaging, and I learned a lot about Lishan oolong tea from Taiwan while getting to smell and taste every tea myself! All five cups! The whole experience took about 20 minutes and was absolutely worth it. Best part? It’s completely free☺️ If you think Chicha San Chen is just another boba spot, you’re missing out, so come grab a seat in their tea tasting event!
We walked by surprise. It has clean tea smell inside and everything looks neat and clean. There is a system for ordering. You can either scan the code or taking the line ordering with a real person. Then wait in the rest area and waiting to be called your number. I also received a msg letting me know when the tea is ready. The regular tea is good. We also ordered the bubble volcano and it's too sweet for me.
The Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea was so good. Everything tasted super fresh, and the floral honey flavor paired perfectly with the smooth oolong. My friends loved the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea too. The place is clean with cute decor, and the staff were really friendly and even gave us free samples of the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea.
We got the chance to experience a tea tasting with Wesley at this location, which is the only location here that does tea tastings. I had a great time learning about high mountain tea, which is their specialty, and Wesley was very knowledgeable. I got the creamy lemon tart high mountain pouchang tea and it was also very good. Highly recommending getting drinks here and to do the tea tasting if you get a chance!
I love this tea shop! As soon as you walk in, the store is filled with a wonderful tea aroma. You can really tell they put care into the tea-making process. the taste is delicate and perfectly balanced. There’s usually a long line on weekends, so I recommend visiting on weekdays when it’s not as crowded. Definitely one of my favorite tea spots in Chinatown, Manhattan!
Really good higher end bubble tea place! I've been here several times and I really like it. The tea is fresh brewed and very flavorful. They also have some of the best tapioca bubbles I've had in recent times. They're not cloyingly sweet like at some brown sugar tea places - they're pleasant chewy and fresh. My biggest recommendation is to avoid the fruit flavor teas, as the fruit flavoring is very strong and drowns out the flavor of the tea. The fresh high quality tea is one of the biggest draws of this spot so it's worth getting a "simpler" tea where you can really taste that. One of my favorites here is the honey osmanthus oolong, it's lightly sweet and you can really taste the oolong. It's really good! Customer service is great as well, everyone is very nice here. There can be a bit of a wait during peak times, but really never much longer than 10-15 minutes which is impressive considering how big the line gets. Off-peak there is sometimes no wait at all. The only downside for me here is the price. It is very expensive so not really an "everyday treat" type of thing. A relatively basic tea with bubbles can cost up to $10.90 (inc. tax) and it's also what would be considered a "small" size at other tea spots, I don't think they do large sizes. Keeping that in mind, I recommend it - it's really good tea!
Nice place to get the milk tea! They offer different kind of teas and it’s enjoyable to see how do they prepare your drink! I personally really like their package the idea of how they tie the twine around the milk tea! I brought the drinks with me to Barclays center (Brooklyn) and it’s so comfortable to carry them!! 10/10 for this packaging and ofc the drinks taste good!
No more long lines outside the store like when it first opened. Ran out of bubbles first time I went. The tea was excellent, made with something that resembles 20K cappuchino machines.
Another day another new tea spot I have to try. I came across this place during my search and the interior is what drew my attention, extremely modern, upon entering the staff was attentive and offered samples of their orange flavored tea and a quick lesson on the teas they use on what drink. Ordered a boba like usual to try out the comparison. Compared to many spots, the pearls used in This spot are fresh and enjoyable, the tea on the other hand was average, I’ll most likely come back or try a different flavor
It’s a Taiwanese tea shop that takes its tea seriously—you can choose from several base teas, then customize everything from flavor (fruit infusions like orange or passionfruit) to toppings like taro balls, grass jelly, mousse, etc. They gave us a sample of the high mountain pouching tea + orange. It was excellent! The cashier was super nice and took the time to walk us through how to order and how to pair different teas with flavors. We got their Signature Milk Tea, which was smooth, creamy, and fragrant without being overly sweet. Also tried a custom oolong tea with orange, which was refreshing and had a really nice citrusy aroma that balanced well with the roasted oolong. Both drinks were really well done. The interior is clean and minimal, with a strong design aesthetic—almost like a tea gallery. There’s a wall lined with vintage tea canisters, another dedicated to tea history and philosophy, and the whole place feels kind of zen in the middle of busy Chinatown. Definitely recommend if you want something tea-focused with more depth than the usual bubble tea places.
Tried this bubble tea shop and thought it was just ok, I got the fruit tea and thought the favor was pretty average, it did come with lots of fruits in the cup, but maybe a bit too much. It’s cool they make tea for each cup but that also means it takes a bit longer to get your tea and they’re really popular with a crowd, expect a wait for your drink!
