Glur Thai Albee Square Reviews
Amazing food! They have so many vegan options! The massaman curry was so wholesome!
Khao mun gai tod was so good! Chicken tender and perfect breading. Great pineapple sweet chilli sauce on the side.
Nice little hole in the wall spot. There is seating outside but it's Def not enough. So that said plan your trip accordingly, highly recommend a reservation if they do offer it. I was lucky to get a table upon walking in even though it was packed. Service and food were both top notch. I got the vegan drunken noodles which were absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous. I'll definitely be coming back soon
This spot is so cute! Thai food is one of my faves so I was excited to stop by this spot. I got some traditional dishes like pineapple fried rice and pad thai noodles. The calamari was a delicious appetizer too, especially once i drizzle some of the lemon on it. The Gai Satay with grilled marinated chicken on skewers, peanut sauce, sweet cucumber relish was also great. I really like that the menu offers a lot of vegan-friendly options, I'll definitely be back.
We love this restaurant so much we even came here to celebrate after our wedding. I grew up in Thailand and am really particular about Thai food, and this is the most authentic Thai vegan food I’ve found in New York. The flavours are rich, balanced and genuinely remind me of home. It’s absolutely my go-to Thai spot as a vegan. The staff are always so kind and welcoming, and it’s lovely.
Packed place with good energy, luckily we were able to be seated quickly as there were spots open at the “bar” style seating. Food was flavorful. Great portion sizes. Spice levels done right. A good test of quality is the amount of vegetable types they put in their curries. The green curry beef has 3-4 different kinds of vegetables. Would highly recommend and come back.
Literally my favorite thai place with the best vegan options!!! I live in LA and every time I’m in NY I have to come here! Everything is so flavorful and the lunch special is such a good deal!! You have to come here if you’re vegan or even if you’re not if you want incredible thai food!!
Came here for an early dinner with my bestie. This is one of her favorite locations in her neighborhood and I completely understand why. The space is so cute and small but sits just enough guests. Service is on point and attentive. We ordered Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Curry Puff. Everything was so delicious and full of flavor! The portion sizes were perfect and filling. Their Thai Iced Tea is also wonderful and refreshing! I can’t wait to return!
Ok so I’ve been here before and I thought this was an all vegan restaurant. It is not. There is meat and egg served here. However, the good thing for vegetarians and vegans is that there is no fish sauce or MSG served in any of their dishes. So their menu is a little confusing by noting ‘vegan’ dishes when technically they can all be vegan with using only vegetables or adding vegan meat like daring chicken or tofu (and subtracting egg if in dish). I will say the flavors were absolutely delicious! I was quite surprised at how tasty their curry was and their rice was like a ginger-lemongrass flavor, which was yum in its own. The dumplings and spring rolls were tasty too. I’ll definitely be back. Just hoping they don’t cook the vegan food right next to the meat.
Very small Thai restaurant in Chelsea. The fried tofu was very plain, and the crust was flaky/came off. The vegan curry puffs were sooo good, like a samosa but more flavorful. The drunken noodles had the standard flavor profile, but a bit too oily and oddly sweet. The red curry was phenomenal: this alone makes it easy to recommend this restaurant. In fact, I think this was the best thai food in NYC out of the 6ish restaurants I've been to (way better than Thai Diner or THEP). I found the best aspect of this restaurant to be the wide variety of vegetarian/vegan options, including multiple vegan proteins like veg duck, daring chicken, and impossible meat.
We wanted to try some new Thai place in the city and this restaurant popped up as in the list on internet. I also took my sister who was visiting me from India to let her try Thai cuisine, fortunately this restaurant had lot of vegetarian options which were tasty. We ordered Pad Kee Maw and Red Curry in entree and they were delicious. We also enjoyed their Thai Iced Tea and vegetarian spring rolls. The decor and vibe of restaurant is refreshing and the service is top notch. The servers are very courteous and the food wait time is less even on Friday evening. We overall loved this place and would definitely try to visit the place again.
Everything we ate was amazing. Great vegan options! Vegan crab rolls, vegan duck noodle soup, and vegan Crème brûlée. Bestie had pineapple rice and 1/2 a duck. She said it was juicy and flavorful. The blueberry tea perfect even without sugar. My only complaint is that it is very small and all the orders coming in and out makes it constantly cold.
Tight seating at this Thai spot in Chelsea with a good offering of classic Thai dishes. Had one of the flat noodle dishes and it had a good spice level - was great with the prawns as well. Service seemed very functional and unbothered. Overall, good place to grab and go or have a quick meal.
4/5 Thai Tea ($8) -- a bit on the sweeter side, standard richness of a classic thai tea 4.5/5 Curry Puff ($13) -- crisp flaky pastry, generous and flavorful filling 4.5/5 Green Curry- really enjoyed the flavor of their green curry, along side all the veggies in the dish with the jasmine rice. 4/5 Massaman Curry -- nothing to write home about but was tasty and hit the spot for a massaman curry craving 3.5/5 Pad Thai -- taste was overall too sweet, sauce was very liquidy, noodles erred on the softer side. Also note this restaurant is on the smaller side, maybe 6 tables total. We came on a weeknight around 6pm, and was lucky a group just finished their meal so there was no wait.
Glur is a very lively and small Thai restaurant that has good Thai food. Came here with two others on a Wednesday night, all the tables were taken and we had take counter seats which was a bit cramped feeling but still okay. Then we were given one set of menus which had the seasonal items and drinks. To order, you have to scan a QR code and then download a PDF onto your phone. I felt that this was pretty clumsy and not the best system and the waitress took a very long time to acknowledge that we were ready to order. We also had to ask for water which was surprising. Despite those issues the food was good. The appetizer we got was the gai Satay Skewers which had a very good cucumber sauce and also the peanut dipping sauce was very rich. I really enjoyed the crab fried rice, had a very good seafood flavor and I think they use a fermented salt fish paste to enhance the flavor. It had a generous amount of crab so that was a pleasant surprise. I also thought the pad see ew and the massaman curry was great. Good amount of wok hei (good smokiness) in the noodles and the curry itself was very flavorful. The only slight negative in the food was that we ordered chicken in our curry and noodles, both over done. Texture was a bit rubbery and tough, which was slightly disappointing. However, the dishes all had great flavors and it was a super busy night so maybe the lack of prompt service and the overcooked meat was a off day. Overall, I would come again, but if it was super busy night like it was when I came, just come back another day.
Service: Despite arriving 15 minutes late for our reservation, the restaurant was nearly empty with two empty tables when we left. However, the waitress's comment about being on time was perceived as rude. Atmosphere: The restaurant offers a cozy ambiance but can get congested at times. The closely arranged tables make it challenging to move around. Food - As this was our 2nd visit we tasted many dishes which included Pad Thai (very sweet in taste), Pineapple Fried Rice (Wasn't very flavorful), Vegan Khao Nar Ped, and many more. The best among them were Vegan Khao Soi, Tom Kha Soup, Vegan Curry Puff, Pad See Ew, and Pad Kee Mao. While the prices were on the higher side, the portion sizes were sufficient to satisfy your appetite. Overall, despite some minor inconveniences, we would recommend this restaurant and plan to return in the future.
I have eaten here a fee times and had good food, however I tried to order pick up from their restaurant and was disappointed. I got an email that food was ready, but upon arriving it was not and I was asked to wait 10m. It took an additional 35m where I was told to wait outside in the cold. Had I known this I would have stayed home a few blocks away. It’s fine to dine in here, but don’t consider takeout, there are other options in the neighborhood.
