Kawa Sushi Albee Square Reviews
The best sushi I have ever eaten! My wife made reservations here for my birthday and I was completely blown away by the quality, taste, and presentation. This was my first Omakase experience and I was very impressed by Chef Tony's creative and meticulous approach to preparing sushi. The pacing was perfect and gave us time to fully appreciate each dish and anticipate the next. Witnessing Chef Tony's craftmanship on full display was satisfying and enlightening. His skill and experience is evident to all your senses. The materials are all obviously very fresh and prepared with care and dedication. I won't reveal everything we were served, but all I can say is that if you love sushi - you owe it to yourself to visit Kawa Omakase. Also, shout-out to Yuki for being so welcoming and attentive. Don't be afraid to talk to Chef Tony either, he may seem very serious and focused but he was so funny and friendly once we started chatting. I can't recommend this place enough! Amazing experience.
I recently visited Kawa Omakase in New York City with my husband and my little sister, who was experiencing omakase for the first time. It was an absolutely fantastic experience. The fish was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the chef’s meticulous attention to detail really stood out. The atmosphere was friendly and cozy, and it definitely didn’t feel like a chain restaurant at all. We’ll definitely be back, and I’d highly, highly recommend it!
Had such a lovely omakase experience here. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, the pricing was great, and the vibe was calm and peaceful. The pricing was so good! Tony and his wife were so kind and welcoming, we had such a nice conversation. I even came by myself and it was the perfect place to unwind and end the night. Definitely will be back. Thank you!
Chef Tony is super nice and delivers that omakase experience. The fish were all super good and fresh. I would definitely come back!
Amazing omakase experience crafted by the wonderful Chef Tony! Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented with creative techniques. Highly recommended - and Happy New Year ;)
The fish is absolutely PHENOMENAL. so fresh and highly crafted. Chef Tony was a complete delight. Highly recommend this place!!
An incredible experience from start to finish. The chef is an artist, and every piece of sushi was perfect. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. If you're looking for an authentic and mind-blowing omakase, look no further. Will definitely be back!!!!!
Kawa Omakase exceeded my expectations in every way!! The Omakase menu provided a delightful course at an affordable price. The chef and boss were both incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel like honored guests. I had a memorable birthday there and an unforgettable dining experience :) Highly recommended!!
We had an incredible experience at Kawa. I’m a regular at omakase restaurants, and this one stands out as one of the highest quality and most creative menus, especially considering the price point. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded, which gave us ample time to chat with the chef, Tony, and Ryan about the restaurant’s opening. They were incredibly accommodating of our dietary restrictions, which was a huge plus. It was hard to pick a favorite dish because each one was simply wonderful. We wish Kawa the best of luck in their new restaurant and will definitely be returning!
I had an exceptional dining experience at Kawa Omakase. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the restaurant’s calm and intimate ambiance, with its minimalist yet elegant decor. The owner, who also served us, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the experience even more special. He and the chef took the time to explain each course, showcasing not only his expertise but also his passion for high-quality but affordable sushi / Omakase experience. The fish was incredibly fresh, and each piece was delicately prepared and beautifully presented. Every bite literally melted in my mouth, with perfectly balanced flavors that highlighted the natural richness of the ingredients. The progression of the meal was well thought out. Overall, Kawa Omakase exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, high-quality omakase experience with excellent service. I will definitely be returning!
Really good omakase with premium ingredients for a reasonable price. I was a big fan of both the salmon pieces, the toro with caviar and the ikura uni bowl. Excellent service as well, highly recommend!
This has been my best omakase experience recently. Tony was very nice and patiently explained the ingredients and pairings of each sushi dish. All the fish and uni were incredibly fresh. My friend and I will definitely come back!
Tony was awesome. The sushi was fresh, sophisticated, and playful. Really an expression of his personality! Everything was wonderfully balanced and his years of omakase practice in other establishments really shines through in his new restaurant. Had a great time and would 100% come back. Pic- Chef’s Special Ocean’s Kiss, with Uni that arrived today from Japan!
Made a 6:15pm reservation at Kawa to celebrate my wife on Mother’s Day. We were greeted by Ryan (manager) & Tony (chef) as they began our omakase experience. We ordered a bottle of Dassai 45 (a Junmai-daiginjo) chilled sake. A terrific smooth sake with a melon essence. We enjoyed a 14 course omakase made just for us exclusively for us (I guess folks were cooking for their mom’s at home?) The standouts for us were the black cod with yuzu pepper sauce, the maguro (lean tuna) & wasabi, the red snapper bite was outstanding as was the sea bream. The restaurant interior is located below street level with a simple contemporary design. Black stone countertops & a brightly light white brick wall behind the chef’s sushi station make for a stark contrast and a clean, sharp looking space. Ryan and Tony were exceptionally attentive and consistently smiling. Ryan insisted on kindly pouring our sake and refilling our waters. Both gentlemen asked for feedback & seemed genuinely appreciative. We were absolutely shocked this hidden gem was all ours for the two hours we were there…I’m certain we won’t enjoy that exclusive experience at Kawa Omakase again! I highly recommend a visit & we’ll certainly be back. Oh…I failed to mention, where else will you find a well executed 14 course omakase menu for $88/pp in Manhattan? Enjoy!
Sushi was good. Everything tasted fresh and was well prepared. Very standard omakase tasting menu with 14 pieces plus you can order extra towards the end.
Incredible quality and creativity, we were celebrating our anniversary and they were so thoughtful with the selection and made the night unforgettable. The brother duo who founded the restaurant, Tony and Ryan, have an impeccable vision and expertise and we cannot wait to see them succeed.
I recently visited Kawa Omakase and was thoroughly impressed! The omakase experience was not only delicious but also offered at a very reasonable price. Every dish was carefully prepared, and the freshness of the ingredients truly shined through. The chef’s attention to detail was evident in every bite, and the boss greeted us with a warm, accommodating smile. Their genuine friendliness made the evening even more memorable. I highly recommend everyone to check out Kawa Omakase—you’re in for a treat!
Wagyu was buttery, uni tasted ocean-fresh, and sweet shrimp impressed. Perfect budget-friendly omakase in NYC! 🌟

Best time everrrrrrr. Went on a date night here with my boyfriend and we were treated so well. Food was so incredible and the atmosphere was lovely. Tony and Yuki were sooooooo sweet and awesome too! Will be coming back and recommending to others!
Despite being the only one in the restaurant, the staff made us feel very welcome and didn’t rush anything. They let us enjoy the food calmly and were in for a nice chat. I even learned some Chinese words (no idea how to spell them though). We had the chef’s menu and the food was great, especially considering the price. They definitely deserved a good tip ;)

Absolutely stunning Omakase experience! Every dish was crafted with precision and creativity — you can really taste the freshness of each ingredient. The sushi and appetizers were especially impressive, perfectly balanced in flavor and texture. Elegant ambiance and excellent service. Definitely coming back!
