Malt & Mold Albee Square Reviews
Our new neighborhood favorite. Super welcoming atmosphere. Came here for the first time tonight and had a couple drinks and snacks. Love the variety on tap and getting to taste some of the beers (it’s a Wednesday night thing). They also have cider on tap which is huge for me! We tired the charcuterie board and also a sandwich, both were well picked and portioned. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner as well who was super friendly.
I always walked past this shop and never had the chance to go in. It’s been almost a year of walking past and today I decided I had a few minutes to go in. The girl who was there was super helpful and showed me all of the items they had in the shop. They had cheeses, bread, craft beers, sandwiches and a whole bunch of other items. We walked around the shop and everything was really well organized, clean, neat, and was beautifully displayed on the shelves. I loved the cheeses they had and sampled a holiday special which was a truffle cheese that I bought. I also bought a rose cider to share with my sister and a sandwich. I really liked this shop and want to come back for a tasting that they said go almost every Friday! I am not a big beer drinker but they really did have a lot of great options including hard ciders! I will be coming back for the bread!
Malt & Mold is one of the best spots in the city for a beer. Kevin and staff were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The beers available are carefully curated and span a wide selection of styles and breweries across the country. The vibes are warm, intimate, and cozy. This was one of my favorite spots in the city and I look forward to returning every time I’m in the area. The care and pride that has gone into this establishment is obvious and I can’t recommend it enough.
Malt & Mold is my favorite beer and cheese shop in Manhattan, although, to be fair, they carry so much more! They have a sandwich of the day, which are always perfection. Their cheese selection and cheese platters are incredible. (The Secret de Lys, a cows milk from France might be the best cheese I’ve ever had.) They carry everyday beers and specialty beers (like Goose Island Bourbon County Stout) and, if you’re so inclined, have a mug club! This is the perfect store to pick up quick food-related gifts or treat yourself. Let’s be honest - I typically treat myself! Word to the wise: Get the chocolate-covered corn nuts and thank me later! Truly a gem of a store and the owners, Kevin and Caitlin, are approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely nice people.
Not your average neighborhood liquor store, these guys are true beer aficionados (and cheese connoisseurs). Despite their in-depth knowledge, they're super approachable, down-to-earth, and friendly. You won't find a cheap 6-pack of Bud but, for what you get, the prices are quite reasonable. They even refill growlers here. They do beer tasting every Friday night too.
Such a special and homey place!!! Kevin the owner is the ultimate host who makes you want to come back time and time again! Which luckily for us, they have a membership progam with really cool mugs! All the beer is seasonal so you are in for a treat everytime and the cheeses are all amazing!!
I was there for an event. Mimi Tom the cheese lady were on point. Small intimate well curated bottles cans tap list. The patrons were eclectic and sweet.
Great beer and cheese shops. They have beer cans and bottles to go, beer on tap to drink there and a great selection of cheese, canned fish and anything else you require for a nice charcuterie board! They even had The Bruery Black Tuesdays 2023 to buy (one of the best stouts ever made and about 21% abv). I'll try to make my way back again!
Ordered a tray for 12 women to have a late morning snack before heading to airport after 3 days of fun and meetings. We ate at some really great restaurants but this presentation and taste was a true WOW!!! So diverse with many items never seen on a cheese etc tray My friends think I am a genius. No I used Malt & Mold. Impress your family and friend too. Cannot get anything like this in Columbus Ohio.
Great cheese, remarkable selection of beer, and outstanding staff that can talk you through everything on the menu.
Perfect place for a cheeky afternoon beer. Great to stop by on the way home after a long walk.

We popped in for a quick beer on our way to a gig. Kevin was lovely and knowledgeable, we had a good chat about beer and some Scottish breweries. Great beer selection, cool atmosphere and just a really nice place to enjoy beer. Didn't have any food but the cheese boards and charcuterie looked excellent. I will definitely come back here for more, when I visit New York again.
The 2 girls behind the bar were FABULOUS. So kind and welcoming, and recommended great drinks. Mug club is also an awesome deal!
Incredibly nice folks, great selection with excellent service. I recently went with my partner to pick up some cheese for a snack. They had an incredible selection of local cheeses as well as local brews. They were super helpful when we were deciding which to get and even let us taste a number of cheeses and drinks before making a selection
We recently engaged Malt & Mold to cater our Design team's Holiday party. They absolutely delivered above and beyond. We ordered a large cheese and charcuterie platter, large crudité/dip platter and a small dessert platter (which was off menu and they absolutely accommodated.). Everything was so delicious, fresh and beautiful. We asked for a few wacky requests, such as the meat not touch the cheese, and they didn't even hesitate to accommodate. Everyone at the party was gushing about the quality of cheeses, meats, style of the display and cookies. It went so far beyond my expectations. If you need unique, stylish and quality catering, I highly recommend.
I live above and I fell in love with this place so quickly. Great outdoor seating and the best place to get a quick bite to eat and a drink. The selection of cheese is incredible. Excited to be a regular! Kevin is a very kind owner who very clearly cares about his customers.
We had a lovely time here last night, the owner Kevin is super kind, welcoming and engaging. Truly everything you could ask for in a neighborhood bar.
Amazing selection of delicious beers, cheeses, sandwiches and great atmosphere. Our neighborhood favorite go-to for after work drinks and nibbles. The staff and owner are also super fun to chat with and so knowledgeable!

The best thing about this place is the concept. I love beer, and I love cheese - that this place bring them together is great! The staff was also super welcoming and nice. They even let me try 3 or 4 beers before making my selection! Unfortunately, I really didn’t think any of the beer or the cheese selections was a stand out. I had a fine experience, but the reason I’d go back is for the uniqueness of it, and not the products.
Good place for a beer and some cheese. Happy to support a small business like this. The cheese was nice and they give you a lot for your $$. Beer selection is local and solid. Overall the beer and cheese was good not great. Nice place to know is there if I’m already in that neighborhood.
