NewsBar Albee Square Reviews
i regularly visit her when working in NY, it's my go to breakfast. The overnight oats are to die for, the coffee is good and lots of cakes and eggs. Many choices for Breakfast and lunch. It's also a lovely, homely, neighbourhood place, lots of locals and regulars. It's not fancy, it's good food and service.
I tried a berry danish and a latte, and both were absolutely delicious. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. I’ve only visited the news bar on University Pl, so my experience is based on this location. The atmosphere is warm and inviting - a perfect, cozy spot to enjoy coffee and good conversations.
Love this place, a bit of gem amongst the busy Union Square area. Very cosy and feels like you're in a real community cafe. A great place to go and grab a bite to eat on your own and read a book, or to meet friends for a fantastic lunch. Service is always swift and the food is presented excellently, with large, tasty portions. I'd recommend the honey chipotle chicken bowl, which I think is great value.
NewsBar Café is more than just a café—it’s a haven for anyone looking for great food, excellent coffee, and a warm, inviting environment. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s definitely worth a visit. The location is also very convenient, especially for students and professionals in the area. It’s a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, making it an ideal spot to recharge during a busy day.
We visited twice for breakfast this week as it was so good! A little noisy as it’s always so busy, but the service and food was great. The eggs I had with bacon on the first day were great, but the salmon and creamy eggs bagel on the second day was even better. I should’ve taken a photo but it was too yummy to waste any time 🤣 my daughter enjoyed her pastries as you can see in my photos. Coffee also great. Highly recommend!
I love this place! Totally my new favorite breakfast place in the neighborhood. There’s a decent amount of tables inside and out. The menu has great options from eggs, avocado toast, oatmeal, bagels, bakery items, to smoothies. I’d love to go some time for lunch because their sandwiches sound really good. The prices are very nice compared to the large portions you get. I definitely recommend to someone who wants good food with a classic cafe atmosphere. It doesn’t have that “influencer” feel like some other brunch spots.
Very cute place with quite the variety of coffee, treats, bagels, sandwiches and more. Nice table seating inside + some seating outdoors. I would recommend coming here as a treat/ on occasion as breakfast sandwiches will run you $10+. People are kind and the food is solid. Service is a bit slow tho so not a grab and go place.
A true neighborhood favorite. It was filled with locals, regulars, and a handful of tourists. A decent choice for a friendly spot with decent food. I had the build-your-own-oatmeal bowl. I requested the addition of walnuts, bananas, and a touch of maple syrup. I found the oatmeal a bit more mushy than I prefer, but overall, it wasn't bad. The coffee was just okay.
A nice little cafe. The food is solid, and there's more seating than you might assume. You need to order from the counter and then you are given a numbered placard so the servers can find you when they bring out your order. I ordered the Mexican egg wrap and was generally happy with it. It was under-salted, as was a dish a friend ordered, but it was good enough for breakfast/brunch. Another friend had a gluten free fig bar and loved it, and the croissant/egg sandwiches were also thought to be good. Note that laptops are prohibited over lunch hours, and the cafe was out of a few condiments (like creamer), but overall it is a nice place.
I loved the vibes but unfortunately the decaf almond milk latte was undrinkable and bordered on gas station coffee levels of bitter. Decaf espresso tends to get forgotten by cafes and this was another example of that. Would love more care and attention (and barista training) shown to the coffee.
I’ve never had a good experience here and haven’t been back in a while so I thought I’d give it a shot and was met with the nastiest customer service. I ordered a sandwich and it came back wrong with ingredients that I’m allergic to and when the cashier came over to talk to me about it he immediately said you ordered this sandwich and I said no why would I worded something I’m allergic to you just have misheard me and he got defensive and said well if you don’t take this, it’s going to be another 25 minutes until your sandwich because we’re busy. To which I responded immediately why with the attitude and no I want a refund and he kept blaming me. Again why would I order something I’m allergic to. I didn’t even see that other sandwich on the menu. I get a busy Saturday but I was nice and understanding until I was met with nastiness yet again.
i don't even know where to start.. I went in for my morning coffee and walked in the establishment alongside a lady with a stroller. there was no line to order, and since she entered before me i let her order before me even though she had stopped to grab a table. no problem, so she's ordering and im standing where the line starts waiting to put in my order. why does the stroller lady finish ordering and walks away, and the cashier looks me dead in the eyes and walks away from the register? so im like no problem its a bit busy the staff is doing stuff behind the counter... but then im standing there for 3-5 minutes?? no service, no "i'll be right with you," nothing. I approached the front of the register but nobody stopped to take my order again, with multiple staff members just walking right past me. and after almost a minute of standing there i just walked out. it was genuinely unbelievable ive been here 10+ times for my coffee in the morning, and never received such horrible service, not sure if they're treating me like for a specific reason or if its because im a younger-looking/younger black girl that was alone, but honestly im not going to tolerate this sort of disrespect. again ive been here multiple times, so i guess i wasted my hard-earned money on tipping 20% LOL. not coming back and telling everyone i know not to go here either. honestly the previous times ive been here im waiting AT LEAST 5 minutes for my drink, which is honestly ridiculous since we're in the city. that deserves one star in itself
