Ost Cafe Albee Square Reviews
Nice cafe -- quiet, cozy, great coffee, always great service
Gr8 bartender there Wednesdays from 4:00 in the afternoon 'til closing, Rachel.
Staff is always friendly, food is always fresh, and the place is nice and comfortable.
Great neighborhood coffee shop that serves flat white.
Good Coffee and Excellent service! Thank you, you were everything I needed you to be!
great coffee, delicious muffins and a beutiful coffee shop
The hot chocolate, while not on the menu board, was pretty delicious on a cold and blustery day.
Always the best, great staff, good vibes and decor inside
Pleasant atmosphere. Variety of Coffee and pastries
Good coffee. They have pastries. Small and intimate seating indoors and two benches outside.
Beautiful early neighbor decor. Lots of locals chatting with a drink. Very friendly staff, knows everyone.
As an Aussie, getting a decent flat white in NYC was a godsend. Keep up the good work mister barista. 😎
Best coffee and scones on the Lower East Side!
Nice coffee place. Good ice tea and delicious pastries. Pleasant atmosphere.
Lovely space. Great service. Delicious coffee and cappuccino! Thank you!
Traveling from Melbourne Australia and it's the best coffee I've had since leaving. Also a massive plus that the staff are incredibly nice and friendly.
Great cafe with excellent coffee and pleasant atmosphere, must stop for your favorite cuppa
Such a cute cafe, great ambience and service. Def recommend!
Very sweet and cosy spot. Comfortable and good coffee.
I would give it 5 star because it was the spot to meet Yigal. But it’s easy to find it, clean and It looks nice inside not so crowded..
Beautiful place and great coffee. The ginger and turmeric tea is also great.
Very nice cafe. Had a very European vibe to it — made you forget you're in NYC
Oh yes, every neighborhood needs a good coffee shop like this. Great spot and decent pulls.
Cortado is solid. Very cozy space -- even heavily decorated for Halloween!
Great coffee and chai and almond croissants, laid back vibe, nice owner
A great place with great service. The perfect coffee shop.
Really friendly, cosy neighborhood cafe with good coffee. Food consists mainly of pastry and cookies brought in from somewhere (I rarely eat here, but the oatmeal cookie I got once was quite good). Highly recommend.
Luke is the best! Every single barista here is sweet and friendly and kind and makes good drinks!!!! I really love and appreciate Ost Cafe. It is such a nice resource for our Lower East Side neighborhood as we don't have too much variety below Delancey St. and east of Essex St. The quality of food and drinks is high and the prices are standard. I love the seating area. Ost is a wonderful place to sit and work or read or talk with friends while you sip on tea or munch on a pastry.
Cheddar Dill scone just transformed my Tuesday.
My go to spot for coffee. Friendly staff nice people. Great store baked cookies. Good vibe and relaxing. Extensive coffee tea menu . Becomes a habit a good one
Lovely small neighborhood spot with comfortable chairs, friendly and knowledgeable baristas, and good coffee from PT's.
Such a great and friendly place. Food is always good - fresh pasta dishes are amazing! And daily arancini are so good! Tiramisu is amazing. The one place we return to every chance we get.
Great local coffee place. Good coffe, excellent scones.
Great place! Nice service, good coffee, free Wi-Fi, clean nice bathroom. Really good crowd. There is an outlet to charge your computer or phone. There is also a bench outside so you can drink your coffee there.
great ambiance, coffee, and pastries
Lovely and cozy cafe. I come here all the time! The owner Luke and Daniel are super nice and friendly! I especially like the almond croissant!
Superstar barista David making best macchiato in town when he's not there I'm going to the next block coffee shop
Limited pastry menu (at least based on what I've seen after noon) but honestly you go for the coffee and the people watching.
Quintessential local coffee spot with great vibes, great staff, and most important of all, great coffee! can't really ask for more.
Luke, the owner, is one of the few remaining honest and good hearted business owners in New York City.
In a place like Manhattan where every inch of land is worth a lot of money, this price is really very cheap. And the service attitude is also very good
Really friendly barista, super nice and greeted us immediately. Had an iced latte with regular milk and really liked it. Lately lots of cafes in NYC have been brewing either really burnt or too acidic coffees. Not Ost Cafe - could tell they used great beans, and the roast was just right. Coffee was strong but not bitter, you could tell you were drinking coffee, not a milk latte. Glad I finally stopped by to try it out. Not a ton of tables inside, but wasn’t too busy on a Saturday morning.
I’ve gone to this cafe ever since I was old enough to be allowed to drink coffee. This is a lovely neighborhood cafe that has a cozy and friendly atmosphere. The plants are always so pretty and the store is designed beautifully. The lattes, teas and pastries are delicious. I would say that the cold brew can be very acidic and sour so I wouldn’t recommend it. Sometimes the store can get crowded and there wouldn’t be seating, but I don’t blame them since it’s a smaller sized cafe. Plus there’s benches outside if I’m okay with the heat outside. The baristas and customers are always very friendly and the conversations are enjoyable.
If you want a laid back vibe with a killer soundtrack (complete with staff sing-alongs) and delicious homemade baked goods (Nick is very generous with his delicious glaze) then this is the place for you. It's our little Lower East Side gem of a coffee shop where everybody knows your name and the neighborhood gossip. Staff is always welcoming and if you are a regular you will never need to repeat your order cause they will remember it.
Very cozy cafe in a historic building. The kind of place that makes you want to stay for a while. Staff has a great attitude. Very reasonable prices.
Lovely place that’s far from the hustle, I really enjoyed the customers there as much as the staff, everyone is friendly and chatty and it’s a perfect place to send a weekend morning
Great little place out in south of Manhattan. Very dog friendly and most people don’t mind sharing a table. The baristas are very knowledgeable and affable and talked with me about television. It’s also warm inside and they let you use the bathroom if you get coffee.
A nice neighborhood nook for those looking to get some work done for a few hours. The setting is like a living room, with benches, chairs, a high top and tables to work from or share in conversation. I like that one could take a meeting from here if needed as there is enough room to hav private conversations and the music is not too loud. Speaking of music, def enjoyed the jazz being played. Space gets a lot of light. I did notice there seemed to be a lack of outlets so bring the computer fully charged or your phone. The coffee was solid and tasty, no fancy design but that’s chill. The food was good and flavorful.
Good cold brew. Decently strong and not overly bitter. Lot of seating here and a clean bathroom.
First time in New York and found this cute little cafe!! the coffee and service was amazing, can't wait to come back!! 100% recommend.
Friendly cafe, with a few chairs and counter seats. Nice windows for watching Grand St. OST has good batch brew and espresso drinks made with PTs coffee, from Kansas City; they offer a range of tea and pastry as well.
Love this little cafe! It’s so local & the coffee is always on point. Great vibes & awesome baristas. It’s a must-go for coffee addicts! Bring a book & enjoy 😊
Had the most incredible experience at OST Cafe this week. The barista, David was energetic, warm, and technically skilled. Will definitely come back again!
Ost Café is such a gift to this neighborhood. Great coffee and excellent pastries. (Try the scones and cookies, yum) But what truly makes the experience is the casual and friendly atmosphere. It’s a gathering place for neighbors and a place for us to meet and make new friends. A gem. Take a breath and be patient, it’s not Starbucks, there are only 1 or 2 employees, relax and enjoy the old-school vibe and the music. The culture here is to smile and say “hi.”

Walked in for a bit while waiting for my kid to get done close by. Super cute place and friendly barista. David was welcoming and friendly with all the customers. Had a flat white. Went back for another. People were having a nice time and leaving with a smile. Would make this my usual hangout if I lived closer.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The coffee and pastries are great, the atmosphere is perfect for chatting with a friend or working quietly, and the best thing for me is the staff. No matter which barista I get, they all have a great energy and really make the place feel like a community. Shout out to David on the afternoon shift for always being super friendly and to my favorite crooner in the AM, Nick, who always makes me smile when he’s wailing on a Prince song first thing in the morning. Truly makes my day :D
This is one of the most welcoming and relaxed cafes in the city. The coffee is excellent, and the pastries are made fresh daily. What I think really makes Ost special though is the friendly staff, the sense of community, the calming atmosphere and the endless parade of dogs that come through on a daily basis. Grab a cup of coffee and sit out front on a nice day, you won't regret it.
It's the perfect Cafe to enjoy a latte, cappuccino, or beverage of your choice along with a variety of delicious pastries. I've enjoyed their chocolate crescent, chocolate almond crescent and ham and cheese crescent, all delicious with a cup of coffee. The atmosphere is chill with a fun Playlist in the background. This is my Saturday go to spot for a delicious light breakfast and a little me time.
This is a great little coffee shop with excellent coffee and an excellent atmosphere. The interior is small but cozy and it's not uncommon to see neighbors meeting together over a cup of joe. If the scones are available be sure and get one, they're delicious!

Great latte flavour with a unique nutty taste different from most lattes.
Great coffee, nice cozy local spot.
Really nice atmosphere for meeting people or studying for hours.
Always good coffee, I am a mocha fan. Good muffins, friendly engaging service and really good music that is always playing.
It was good however most of the bakery items were gone by the time I got here and it was only open for two hours
This is my favorite local place to be productive or refreshed. They have a wide variety of coffee and hot or cold teas and "elixirs" . Friendly staff too.
I had a bangin cappuccino
Yummy coffee and delicious pastries. Enough space to sit and enjoy. Will stop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood.
Surprisingly, the LES this far down doesn't have too many "coffee" shops, but this place has nice bruise friendly staff and unpretentious atmosphere, while offering really good coffee.
Cute shop, coffee is ok, more a nice place to relax and take a breather.
Good coffee, just wished they were open earlier in the mornings. Especially on the weekends.
Quiet European style cafe. Nice rustic decor, proper espresso machine with proper baristas. The prices are fair. The service is very friendly and welcoming
Nice place to have a cup of coffee or Expresso and muffins. You can relax ,read or just bring your laptop to do your research. Staff is friendly and professional.
Tried out this cafe and found it to be super cute! It gave off a small/neighborhood/cozy vibe. The music wasn't too loud, so you could hear your conversations. There were plenty of seats, some of which were table tops, benches, or tables. And there was a steady flow of regulars coming through. I got myself a matcha latte and the only complaint I had was minor. In that the matcha wasn't fully stirred/whisked well, so you got those matcha clumps. Nothing major though and I'd absolutely go back just for the atmosphere.
Good coffee in a very cute/hipster environment. I usually get an oat milk latte which is delicious. They have a lot of tables on the side walk and during COVID times they have no inside seating. Def try this place if you are in Burbank. FYI -- Simply Coffee is down the street and also very good.
Good coffee and cool spot for hanging out. Service with dated “just to waste my time” attitude

Cool little coffee shop- seats aren't comfy and coffee doesn't taste too good
Coffee is very tasty and good quality and it’s hard to find a good coffee. I wish I could come back because coffee is amazing but service was bad. Cafe was empty but barista wasn’t nice or friendly.
Coffee is good. Croissant too, but it was the only food on offer. New York barrista - didn't look up from her paper when I arrived - but doesn't matter if the coffee and atmosphere are good, and they are.
Decided to come here while waiting for my dog’s grooming to be done. Place is cozy with lovely interiors however, the vibe was not cozy at all. Could’ve been more welcoming but ever felt like you enter a clique’s territory and you’re there as an outsider ‘in a sarcastic Are you lost?’ kind of way? I thought it was just me but having read the comments, there seems to be a pattern lately. I appreciate community and neighborhood closeness but what about those who just walk in?
This place is very cute and cozy. I like the old and rustic style. They had limited chairs and tables. My friend and ordered got chocolate and it was disappointing. The sweetness was perfect but it can tell they used a cheap kind of cocoa. My friend didnt finish her muffin because it was crumbly😐. There are so many bakery around nyc that has amazing muffins and pastries, this place should offer that as well. Items in their menu are all priced right.

This used to be a cool place for immediate community. Sometimes new will come in and that's okay...who doesnt want more, right? Well, guess what's happening.. what could have been preserved is no more. #integrity
The barista was very nice. But the caramel cold brew I ordered was one of the worst I’ve ever had. It tasted like watered down cold coffee, no caramel flavor, had to throw it out. Very disappointing.
Coffee and pastries great. Guy serving coffee is incredibly rude 😑
This was my first experience at this cafe. The feel of this cafe is rustic and cozy. I honestly loved it. Unfortunately my Latte tasted sour - I also let someone else taste the Latte (I though maybe it was just me). The man serving me was nice but was very attentative to the customers behind me by asking their milk preferences etc. and pretty much dismissing me as a customer. It was a interesting experience. End Note: I had to toss a 5.25 Latte and go elsewhere for my morning cup of Joe:(. I wish it could have been better.
The bitterness of poor service far outlasts the quality of the coffee.
Rude customer service, if you can even call it that. Upon walking up to the counter the register was turned around from a previously completed transaction. Waiting to be served I observed the screen and was greeted with a, “Why are you looking at our register?” Not a “Hey, how can I help you?” or “My mistake” and swiveling the screen away from view. (The screen just had an itemized list of beverages for purchase.) After ordering, the male in the back looked my way and sang, “Go outside” while the other making my beverage, chuckled. As a NYC native and business owner, I expected better. I will never step foot in this establishment again I will make sure no one else that I know will either.
Came here for coffee over the weekend and it was alright but apparently the barista there was super rude. Apparently he mumbled something disgusting under his breath early in the morning because my girlfriend decided to not hit the $1 tip option. Guess we’ll start going somewhere else in the neighborhood
I used to go here a lot but recently I think I have to change spots. Ok coffee, patronizing baristas time and time again. If you want to spend $6 to be treated badly, definitely go here!
They make Americano for a big mug with just SINGLE ESPRESSO. OMG!! It taste like a regular coffee. $1 coffee is better than the coffee for $2.78.
I’ll admit that the scones are top notch. They are the reason I return to Ost. However the customer service is consistently awful. Rudeness and a lack of interpersonal skills are served up with your order. Maybe it is deficiency in training and expectations from the owner. I will no longer leave feeling as if I did something wrong. They act as if they are perfect and customers are inferior ( I speak of my experience).
The cozy brick design, wood floor and seemingly delicious looking pastries give one the impression this place would be a great Coffee Shop. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I ordered a cappuccino. It was made with a blend of at least two or three different coffees, failed to have any froth, and was served moderately hot. Sorry, but I would never recommend this place to anyone who knows anything about coffee and wants to enjoy a good one.
Let me remind you that tipping is voluntary and is decided by the customer. One of your employees did not understand that and made a disgusting and rude remark under his breath when he didn't receive the tip he thought he was guaranteed.
Everyone except for the friendly twink that works here is so rude for no reason. At this point it's starting to feel like I'm paying money to be served OK coffee and a bad start to my day. It's almost sadistic deciding to walk in here knowing that the angry guy in hat will somehow make me feel like I did something wrong when all I asked for was a cold brew and wish him a nice day on the way out.
