Petit Boucherie Albee Square Reviews
I can't get enough of what they serve here. The service stood out while the food showed innovation. This restaurant's team has mastered true hospitality. This restaurant provides outstanding value! I'm now committed to this place.
petite boucherie is soso cozy and easily my fav of all the boucherie locations in the city. the ambiance is lovely especially in the fall and winter and the food is always delicious. i love the octopus, steak frites, and creme brulee. this location also has great service, i had suzana and she was so attentive and sweet :)
Daniel is the best bartender in Manhattan. He made my espresso martini to my liking without any hesitation. I’m picky and he accommodated my every request. He’s also not rough on the eyes. Will come back just to have a drink by daniel
Amazing place! The vibes of the restaurant are immaculate and everyone was super friendly. Vlad was amazing and was very knowledgeable about the drink choices. 10/10 recommend and will be coming back.
Came here on a rainy afternoon with a friend and we got the French onion soup and it was divine. They give you their fluffy homemade read served warm to dip in the broth and it was so cheesy oniony, everything you want in French onion. Cannot wait to get it all again. Our server (with dark straight hair and a headband) was so sweet, too. Such a soothing place to hang, really feels Parisian. 5 stars!!!
Such a perfect night!! Balsa makes the best drinks, and food was amazing! It is a cozy, classy atmosphere- we ended up sitting at the bar all night. Get the balsa paper plane - you won’t regret it! 10/10
My friends and I had a wonderful meal here! The food and the atmosphere are amazing. Highly recommend their tartare and the service by Srecko made the meal even more special. Enjoy the nice views and a beautiful time!
[5/5, New York, NY] We were looking for a place to have dinner and just searched around Greenwich Village. Came across this super highly rated place on Google Maps - did not disappoint at all. Bread was hot and butter had a nice touch of salt. Smoked duck breast was okay - was curious how this tasted so we just ordered a portion. French onion soup, octopus and beef tartare were all amazing. Topped it all off with a perfectly cooked medium rare Chateaubriand. Will come back.
The ambiance really feels like Paris. Service was quick and efficient and they recognized the birthday celebration we were having. The food was very good. The only downside for me is that they didn’t have croissants or the typical pastries that you get at a French breakfast place but i didn’t really miss them. Next time I’ll try their larger location just down the road.
We had a really good time at Petite Boucherie for lunch. The food was amazing and the service as well! Great job for our server Srecko! Well recommend
I been coming to this place for breakfast and dinner and the times I have come has been amazing. From the food to all the workers like Paola that who assisted today 4/1/22; for my friend’s birthday. Also Daniel who makes good drinks. If I could make 10/10 stars I would. I will recommend.
My favorite restaurant in the West Village. Actually, in all of Manhattan! My husband and I dined here twice while we were in NYC on vacation for two years in a row. Now we live here in the city and so of course we dine at Petite Boucherie for everything from special occasions to causal coffee dates. It has a cozy yet elegant atmosphere and a charming staff. This restaurant is truly not to be missed!
I came here for my birthday weekend to have some french onion soup. My husband ordered the Basic egg for brunch and, while simple, it was well executed: fluffy savory egg, well toasted bread and delicious prosciutto. My french onion soup had a perfect mixture of cheese, toast and onion, and was gorgeous. The basket with bread and butter is also delicious. Because of my birthday, the restaurant treated me to a creme brulee, which was a really nice gesture. The dessert was sweet in a great way! Service and decoration are top notch too. Nice place to treat yourself out.
Sophia is an outstanding waiter! Her attentive service and friendly demeanor made our dining experience truly exceptional. She was knowledgeable about the menu, provided excellent recommendations, and ensured our needs were met throughout the meal. The food was delicious, and the ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a pleasant evening. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant to others. Kudos to Sophia for making our visit memorable
Beautiful little place, pretty decor and nice French atmosphere. We stopped by for breakfast, had Eggs Norvegian and beef tartar. Food was fresh and delicious, but that pistachio dessert was out of this world! Service was kinda slow, it felt like we waited for a hot minute for almost everything but it wasn't overly annoying because we were busy with conversation.
This was my first time here as a New Yorker, and I absolutely loved the food and the amazing atmosphere. Despite it being busy, we received great service. I would especially like to thank Balsa for his helpful advice and friendly approach during our first experience at Petite Boucherie! :) Cheers!
Came for late Sunday afternoon lunch. Absolutely enjoyed the mixed cheese and charcuterie board and a bottle of French Chardonnay. The vibe is Parisian and place is the perfect size for more intimate moments with friends. Susana the manager was extremely welcoming and friendly, a true hospitality professional.
Best dinner we had in NYC! We stumbled in for drinks and ended up staying for dinner because the food looked so good. We sat at the bar with Balsa serving us and he was amazing! He whipped us up custom drinks - try his paper plane and you won’t be disappointed. Definitely eat here!
Holistically charming from the ambience, to the food, and the service. The aesthetic transports you to Paris by way of New York, the burger was delightfully cooked, I even complimented one of the line cooks. The bartender took amazing care of us. Random, but one of my favorite mayonnaises in the city! Will certainly return
What a fantastic place to wine, dine and lunch. A true petite place of France in Greenwich Village. Great atmosphere, friendly and skilled staff, who won the price for most friendly and modest waiter of New York. With the best baguette of Manhattan, the right taste te right creamy butter. We had the mussels and a steak sandwich which were the best.
Each plate was served with attention to detail and quality food. We ordered the charred octopus, foie gras(not my fav but daughter loved it!), celery gratin, a pistachio apricot cheesecake, and the lemon tart dessert. The bartender made our daughter a pineapple mock-tail and it was delicious. Highly recommend this adorable restaurant.
Delicious burger and steak frites. The tartare is amazing with quail egg. They will not let you bring your own wine, I learned that the hard way. Very good coffee also. This is a west village gem.
Balsa is the best bartender in nyc! His paper planes cocktail is a 10! We had the best time here - food was amazing as was atmosphere and ambiance. So cute and quaint and neighborhood vibes while also upscale. Will definitely recommend it to anyone ! A must stop when in the west village!
Cute little French spot with great food and service. Sampled the absinthe drip, got mussels, French onion soup, steak frites, crème brûlée, and espresso martini. Recommend it all! Gf said it was the best crème brûlée she ever had. Shout out to our incredible server Namania (sp?) who went above and beyond!
The service here was excellent - our server was so friendly and down to earth - and the food was delicious. We ordered the mussels/frites, steak frites, ravioli, and escargot. Everything was great, though the steak was a tad tough. The creme brûlée was fantastic though. All in all, a great experience. If you’re planning on coming here, make sure you make reservations beforehand!
I have come here a few times with friends and it is always incredible. Daniel has served me a few times and he is THE BEST! so kind and thoughtful, If you go ask for Daniel!!
Went here for breakfast and thouroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and food. Our waiter was exceptionally accommodating, and the food was good enough to earn clean plates all around. The breakfast menu only has a few options, but they all seem like good choices. (It is worth mentioning, however, that the vegetarian among you is pretty much limited to fruit and granola.)
Outstanding French Lunch – Ask for Susanne! We had an incredible lunch at Boucherie – easily the best French food we’ve had in NYC. The moules were perfectly cooked, the filet mignon au poivre was rich and tender, and the crème brûlée was spot on. Big shoutout to Susanne, our amazing server, who made the whole experience even better with her kindness and great recommendations. Can’t wait to come back!
If you’re craving a little slice of Paris in the heart of NYC, Petite Boucherie is the place. Tucked into the West Village, this cozy French bistro oozes charm from the moment you walk in — vintage mirrors, dim lighting, and a warm, bustling vibe that instantly transports you. 🥖 The menu is classic French — think escargot, steak frites, coq au vin — and everything is beautifully prepared. I had the duck confit and it was rich, crispy, and tender. The French onion soup? Comforting and deeply flavorful. You can’t go wrong with anything here. 🍷 The wine list is solid and well-curated, with plenty of French options (obviously), and the cocktails have that perfect bistro twist. 👨🍳 Service was friendly, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. They really take their time to explain the dishes and make sure you’re having a good experience. 🌇 Bonus: sitting outside gives you that classic NYC-meets-Paris sidewalk café feeling — perfect for people-watching over a glass of red and a crème brûlée. Verdict: Whether it’s a date night or you just want to romanticize your evening, Petite Boucherie delivers. It’s not just dinner — it’s a vibe. Highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious French style cuisine as I’ve been to French inspired restaurants where they try so hard to make the dishes unique that the ingredients do not combine together well and tastes terrible. That is definitely not the case for this restaurant. Everything here that we ordered was phenomenal, cooked to perfection and I would definitely recommend.
I went there on a Monday night around 8:30 PM and was seated by Vladimir, who had a very welcoming attitude. He took my order right away. I got the Steak Frites, mixed vegetables, the PJ mocktail, and Millefeuille for dessert. Fernando served my food and bussed my table. He was incredibly attentive throughout the night, and I noticed how kind he was to everyone around. At one point, a random person walked in just to ask for napkins and water—and they treated her with the same kindness and care. It genuinely made me happy to see that. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food, but I have to say—the Millefeuille was AMAZING. I loved it so much I even considered getting a second one! I would definitely go back.
Absolutely love this Boucherie location! It's perfectly situated on a quiet street where one can people watch and take in some wine and divine escargot. Suzanna, the hostess was incredibly knowledgeable, genuine, and friendly. Above and beyond the service! Petite Boucherie, truly has kept the remnants of the West Vill. alive and well. This will definitely be my staple inspirational culinary retreat!
Had a lovely evening sitting at the bar. The windows were open and the restaurant had such an inviting warm glow. We also thoroughly enjoyed our drinks - highly recommend the Hola Paris! My mom enjoyed the La Vie En Rose (both pictured). The bartenders were friendly (Thanks Balsa) and I would say great service all around!!
This cozy little restaurant offers a perfect setting for an intimate dinner. The dim lighting and candle-lit ambiance create a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both romantic and tranquil. The food is a standout—light, flavorful, and expertly crafted, leaving you satisfied without feeling weighed down. The attentive service adds to the experience, making you feel genuinely cared for throughout your meal. Whether for a special night out or a quiet escape, this place is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!
I’ve been to Petite Boucherie several times now and always sit at the bar with my favorite bartender, Balsa, who is always so amiable and makes an amazing drink. The atmosphere is so lovely and makes it easy to spend a bit of time enjoying the food (my favorite is the tuna tartare) and chatting with other staff members like Darko and Suzana who always make it a great experience for me. Highly recommend!
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation here, it’s a wonderful experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful for newbies to French cuisine, the food was delicious; we started with a bottle of wine and steak tartare w a quails egg as an appetizer, then perfectly cooked salmon steak and filet mignon that melted in your mouth for mains. Pistachio cheesecake w an apricot preserve on top, a dense chocolate caramel tart, and cappuccinos for dessert. We were in heaven. The atmosphere was relaxed, the music was fitting and not too loud for conversation, it was a nice April evening, their big window walls were opened out onto the quiet side street with tables on the sidewalk. We chose to sit inside their charming space. Wish we lived closer!
I’ve come here multiple times and keep coming back because it’s just such an excellent atmosphere and experience. When I come, I often have Daniel as my server and he does such a great job with performance and service. This is always a place I come back to for a great meal and experience, I highly recommend.
Walked in as a party of 3 for a late night dinner on a Tuesday. Suzana immediately greeted us as it seemed pretty busy for a Tuesday night and had us seated with no reservation. We ordered two steak frites and the boucherie burger which were all absolutely delicious. As is seemed pretty busy, Suzana was very attentive, friendly, welcoming and served our table with such hospitality and in a timely manner. Will definitely be coming back not just for the amazing food but for the outstanding service provided by Suzana.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Petite Boucherie is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the warm Parisian atmosphere makes you feel instantly at home. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and every detail feels thoughtfully curated. The food is outstanding—perfectly cooked steaks, rich and flavorful sauces, and classic French dishes done right. The quality of the ingredients truly shines, and each bite feels indulgent without being heavy. The wine selection is excellent and pairs beautifully with the menu. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a night out, Petite Boucherie delivers a consistently memorable experience. I can’t wait to come back—highly recommended!
We went on a nice summer evening when it was 80 degrees outside. The restaurant had the doors and windows open so the entire place felt like we were eating outside. Our server was great. He helped my wife with her questions on the ingredients. He was attentive but not overly so. The food was great as expected from Boucherie. My wife had the duck and I had the pork medallions. They served real potatoes, which I have come to appreciate given how many places serve some substitute for potatoes. I love a simple potato compliment. The duck had cherries and apples. It was great. Finally for dessert we had Paris-Brest in honor of the Tour de France which was ongoing this month.
Perfect atmosphere, the ambience feels very warm. The service was perfect and the food was delicious. We ordered the hambuger, the steak Au poivre, and the chocolate mousse. Everything was exceptional.
I had the most wonderful birthday dinner here. The restaurant is so cozy and romantic. It reminds me of all the adorable restaurants I’ve been to in Paris. All I want is a perfectly cooked fish and this place delivered! We both had grilled salmon and a bottle of Bordeaux which were both delicious. For dessert we had the most wonderful chocolate tart which was part of restaurant week (they need to put it on their regular menu!). Susanna was our server who was so lovely and made our whole experience. This is my new favorite restaurant in West Village. Already thinking of my next visit.
Absolutely loved my experience at Petite Boucherie! The food is classic French done beautifully—rich, comforting, and perfectly executed, from the steak frites to the decadent desserts. The atmosphere is warm and charming, with that cozy Parisian bistro vibe that makes you want to linger. Service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole meal feel special without being stuffy. A total neighborhood gem and an easy spot to recommend for a great meal any day of the week
We arrived as a party of three for a late-night dinner on a Tuesday. Despite the apparent busyness, Suzana greeted us warmly and promptly seated us without a reservation. We ordered two steak frites and the boucherie burger, both of which were absolutely delicious. Suzana’s attentiveness and friendly demeanor were evident throughout the meal. We were served promptly and with great hospitality. We’ll definitely be returning.
Susana was my server and exceeded all my expectations from a dinning experience from start to finish. I could see she was the only server and bartender for the night and she never missed a beat, even though there was a rush of tables. I had the burger and tried the steak as well. I would 100% come back to this location specifically. Thanks again to Susana for making this dining experience so memorable!
Highly recommend! Food was amazing 10/10. We got the Niçoise salad and the Steak au Poivre which was fabulous. Really amazing Espresso Martinis. The service here is incredible. Srecko and Balsa were the best servers and made it a fabulous experience! We will be back!
Me and my fiancee went here and this has been one of the most romantic evenings of our life. Everything was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was amazing and the Serbian waitresses (both of them) where funny, helpful and full of joy! A night that we will never forget!
Took my fiancée here for her birthday and it didnt let us down. The food was amazing, so was the service and atmosphere. Their portions are so generous and quality of the food is really high. The place reminds me of paris a lot. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a taste of france
I had the best time here. The food was heavenly. The drinks were amazing. The service was great. The environment was all I could’ve asked for. Our bartender and waiter, Daniel, did a great job at making sure we were being cared for and made sure our glasses were always full. My Friday night could have not been spent at a better place.
The food was delicious & Fernando was the loveliest waiter!! We had the basque cheesecake for dessert. Will come back!!

The food and staff were amazing. Our server Agnes was very kind and made our experience very enjoyable. I definitely recommend getting the Caesar salad and scallops!
Loved the Tartare and the french onion soup. Felt I was in Paris. Amazing staff as well! Must try the place!

The drinks were amazing - such a great espresso martini! The fries were so crispy and well seasoned. And the servers were friendly! All around great experience.
Went for lunch after some holiday shopping. There is excellent, very friendly, and a most welcoming group service people. Overall, a very cozy atmosphere.
The experience was fantastic and the food was even better! I highly recommend the french onion soup and the cheesecake!

Very beautiful neighborhood restaurant. Very good vibe and super delicious food. Love their bread and butter, escargot, steak tartar, and soup. Everything we ordered is a 5 star.
Cute little restaurant with exquisit french kitchen and interiour. Such nice waiter and waitress! Best steak I ever had.
Came in mid afternoon with friends and no reservation. Susanna was the sweetest and gave the best recommendations. Best place to sip and yap.
Susanna was amazing! Walked in during afternoon and she set up a reservation for dinner and madentye evening lovely! Love love love!
Stunning. A secluded private corner restaurant in the west village that helps one to just escape the havoc of 6th Ave and transports one to a a corner of Paris. The food is excellent. The burger is likely one of the best I’ve ever had in NYC. I will say, for a place as stunning in decor and in flavor of food I do wish that the service was a little more friendly. They’re responsive, but not proactive in their care. This is not a make or break for me, but as a service professional myself I would hope to have the cost of my plate + drink translate throughout the entire experience. Coming back soon!
Went there for restaurant week. The set menu $30 was definitely worth to try. White carrot soup: just ok Salad: simple, fresh, good Pate: enjoyed! Mushroom ravioli: great flavor Burger and fries: it was ok. Wish it was with some special sauce or something. Bread and butter: very good
We went here for an anniversary dinner. It's the smaller version of the grand boucherie. The atmosphere and decor were really good. We ordered the onion soup, snails, hangar steak and lamb chops. Overall, I felt that their spice mix and taste was much better than most other places and the quantity was very good. However, the meat wasn't really seared well. I suspect they don't really use heavy cast iron pans... And they cut off the lovely fat from the lamb chops but that's standard for most places these days. Why don't they ever ask you if you want the fat or not? I've added some pictures as well. The creme brulee for dinner was also very good! Overall, definitely a place checking out!
Cute intimate date night spot! Great menu options. We had the beef tartare, escargots, lamb chops and steak frites. The beef tartare was interesting I didn’t really like the flavor profile in it. It wasn’t bad I definitely think if you’re big on texture this isn’t for you. First time having the escargots and it was really good, Lamb chops and steak frites were delightful. I was stuffed by the end of the night. The drinks were a bit on the stronger side.
I’m not a French cuisine expert so take that into consideration BUT I loved everything we ordered. Started with a salad, escargot and Brie then shared steak frites. It’s very cute and small but feels authentic. They have a lot of absinthe options and absinthe cocktails if you are into that!
Petite Boucherie was a delightful spot — 5 stars overall! The atmosphere is cozy and elegant: warm lighting, classic bistro charm, comfortable seating, and a welcoming neighborhood feel. Service was outstanding — attentive, friendly staff who were knowledgeable and made the experience feel special. Food was very good: steak frites perfectly cooked, onion soup rich and cheesy, escargots flavorful, and the crème brûlée hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh, though a couple dishes were a touch heavy. Great for a casual yet refined French meal. Highly recommend!
Petite Boucherie is a quaint escape from the city bustle that, with some good weather, will transport you to another place. Lovely little spot to sit both outside and in near the bar for some good wine, cocktails and french classics. The petite’s old fashioned was a good take on a classic but nothing to write home about. Unfortunately I felt the same about their burger. The flavors were decent and portion size of the burger and fries was awesome, but I ordered the wagyu burger medium rare and it came medium to medium well. For a $30+ burger, there are others better in the city, though it was still good overall. The fries were the best part, perfectly breaded and crispy. Service was also very attentive and a lovely lunch overall.
Petite Boucherie has such a charming atmosphere, the kind of cozy, Parisian-inspired vibe that makes dining here feel special. The ambiance and overall experience were fantastic, from the décor to the energy of the space. Food-wise, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The croque monsieur looked promising but fell short of expectations. For the price, I was hoping for more, and it wasn’t hot enough… The flavor was pretty muted, and honestly, I’ve had better versions elsewhere for less. Not bad, but definitely not worth it at that price point. On the flip side, the steak sandwich was excellent. The steak itself was tender and flavorful, and the baguette was perfect, crisp on the outside, soft inside. Easily the highlight of the meal and something I’d come back for. Quick side note: their Eggs Benedict is a standout and one of the best I’ve ever had. I didn’t get it this time, but when I’ve gone in the past, it’s usually my go-to. Overall, Petite Boucherie is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, and while some dishes are hit or miss, the right choice (like that steak sandwich) can make for a really satisfying meal.
This was a fantastic experience – we were well taken care of and felt seen throughout our visit. Our waiter from Serbia was very skilled and kind, and he truly made sure we were looked after. The food arrived quickly, and we didn’t have to wait long. The only thing I would have wished for was a bit more seasoning in the dishes, but overall, the food was very good. All in all, this place is well worth a visit when you’re in West Village.

Great space and fun staff. The food is poor. The special pasta tasted like a diaper. A clean diaper. But still. The chef clearly mixed salt and sugar up on the cherry desert because it was an inedible chunk of sodium. However, when I showed the server my blood pressure reading, she admitted they were trying to kill us and brought some delicious treats to replace it. Sorry but…
Came here on Friday for lunch with some colleagues. The door leading in to the restaurant is beautiful and so is the interior. I love the big window looking out onto the very quaint street. However, the interior is pretty cramped. They tried to seat us at a table that is literally right next to the front door, but moved us after we asked. I ordered the L’Auvergnat and a lemonade. Beware that the lemonade is VERY bitter. I’ve never had anything like that and the waitress seemed annoyed that I didn’t like it. She wasn’t very friendly, and was borderline rude to us, so I shouldn’t have been surprised. The sandwich was good but too “bready.” I had to take the top layer of bread off in order to enjoy it. We got an order of fries for the table and they were really good. They season them with salt and black pepper and you could really taste the black pepper. So yummy. The prices here are what you’d expected for this area (i.e., overpriced). Not sure I’ll return.
The ambiance is definitely the highlight: charming decor, cozy lighting, and classic French vibes. We ordered two cocktails, and the Papillon was crisp, refreshing, and probably my favorite part of the evening. The escargot appetizer was excellent — rich but not overpowering, especially good with the house bread. As for the mains, the pork chop was tough and dry, while the beef bourguignon was much better — tender and flavorful, with hearty mashed potatoes underneath. Service was polite but the wait for food was longer than expected. Overall, it’s a lovely spot for drinks and conversation, but I wouldn’t come for the main dishes alone.
Food was very good, service was super slow on Saturday 8/23/25. \nThe $8 charge for a diet coke for brunch was outrageous.

My date was wonderful but the sandwich was sadly bone dry and the beef was very tough and chewy. Only a few tables. Beautiful restaurant with wonderfully high ceilings but I would not return.
The onion soup was really good, we were excited for the entrees but the muscles and the skirt steak both tasted off. Not sure why we forced ourselves to finish everything, we both felt unwell later that day and over the weekend. I read another review about this place using lower quality ingredients, I can totally see that in hind sight. Main flavour was just salt, this place goes on the avoid list.
I must say that the experience was below expectations. The guy who served us and took our order was always very kind and attentive. Different from the girl who was on duty and at the bar. We were welcomed with water on the table and a basket of bread and butter, honestly, this was the only tasty thing of all the food. We ordered onion soup, I was hoping to try it for the first time in a restaurant, it was very disappointing, lack of flavor, even the cheese didn't taste good in that combination. When the girl came up to ask us how the soup was and knew we weren't very happy about it, she gave us a very noticeable look of annoyance and from then on she always had that attitude. When the second course arrived, we thought it might be different, but we found a "salad" which was actually just lettuce leaves with a hint of oil, with no flavor whatsoever. The sandwich was a definite no for us, we have been able to have a much better and cheaper simple ham and cheese sandwich in any coffee shop. It just looked fancy because of the presentation with the cheese on top of the bread, but the bread was a bit hard and the amount of ham was poor. The price definitely doesn't justify the quality of the food at all. It's too expensive for something so simple, tasteless and poor. My partner had already gone with friends before and they tried other types of food such as meat, It had also been a bad experience in terms of food, taste and texture. So this is something constant. It's sad because the place is very nice and in a good location. Honestly, it puts you off trying other locations and finding out if the food is only bad here. But we're not going to spend any more money on this place. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.
I am sorely disappointed by the experience I just had. I just walked a mile in the rain hoping to get a French onion soup and a glass of wine after a very long day at work. I arrived over an hour before their Google page said they would close, but when I walked in, I was promptly told they were already closed even though there were still several people in the restaurant seated at tables and at the bar.
