Portal Latino Albee Square Reviews
Was just walking down the street when we came across this place and ended up having an unexpected feast! Loved everything about this place — the food was excellent and in big portions with great prices, the staff was sooooo nice and telling us about all of the best menu items. We got the roasted chicken, plantains, salad, red beans, all were amazing with their homemade picante and garlic sauces. Would definitely be back!
Best Dominican food in the city. Been going here since my parents moved us to the area in 1996. It is honestly the best and no matter where I go I always say el portal is the best with the best chicharrón de pollo. Love the place the people, everything. Thank you for never letting me down in so many years. ❤️☺️
Love getting late dinners here. Need to return for their standard menu
Amazing food and portions - great lunch spot

Hard to find good authentic Hispanic food where i live. The mondongo soup is to die for 😋.. The roast pork is for tomorrow nights dinner. I highly recommend!
Awesome. Half the trick here is knowing what to order if you aren’t familiar with Dominican food. You can’t go wrong with Los Tres Golpes, Mofongo, y Paselitos (empanadas). The orange juice is good too. This stuff is quickly becoming my new favorite food.

Little gem in Brooklyn. The staff are kind and welcoming. Always a big smile. The food is absolutely delicious. Just like eating at Abuelas. This restaurant has been a family favorite for many years. I came here as a kid, and now as an adult.
excellent old school Dominican food. they make a killer cuban sandwich , and all food is fresh and juicy
The Food Is Very Good. This Is My 5th Time Order From You & Will Continue To Get My Food From You. I Was Also Recommend To You From Julio Davila What A Great Spot. Thank You
You will overhear your fellow patrons say things like "that's with love", as they endearingly look on while the very pleasant staff fill your container to as much as it can possibly hold. And it's true, and it's why this place is a local institution.
Always yummy; always fast. I only do pick up. Great home cooked meal when I don’t feel like cooking! Gracias Portal Latino!
It’s absolutely perfect. The food is made quickly, and it’s exquisite. Every dish they have is made with the ideology of perfection. The cooks and servers and kind, regardless of the time of day. They always have great manners, and they’re always welcoming! Whether you’re dining here, or ordering to go, this restaurant is amazing. Top tier service and food. Would recommend
I dined here unintentionally one morning and you know it's going to be good because you can smell it from down the block. I had pernil, scrambled eggs, bacon and homefries with a HUGE portion of toast that fed two people. The pernil was INSANELY good, as was everything else. It's a small place with to go mostly and a few tables. Is it wheelchair-accessible seating wise though counter is very high and I think while the entrance to the restroom is awkward, it's navigable.
This restaurant has changed in the last 10 yrs! I have ordered here many times yet has gotten better since before! This restaurant is the only place that I have found that has made great alcapurrias in the area.
This place stands above others because of how they treat you. The personnel delivered excellent customer service and the dishes were superior. All dishes we picked featured fresh ingredients, great flavor and expert cooking. Their prices remain surprisingly affordable. The restaurant has won our trust.
The overall experience ensures I'll make this a regular stop in my dining schedule. Staff answers curiosities about ingredients happily. I'll be back if I'm in this part of town. Portal Latino serves food at its prime moment. This restaurant exceeded all my hopes.

There’s nothing spectacular about Dominican Cooking or restaurants they all share the same flavors. Service is fast but at times they get real busy. They don’t have a lot of space so eat & go! My biggest concern is even with a menu every time you sit in or order the food is a different price even if you order the same thing every day. When the food is rung up it comes out to a few dollars more every !
This restaurant has been around for years. The food is consistent however, as a Puerto Rican, it's not the greatest. Their pernil is tasty. The arroz con gandules has 0 flavor. Their picadillo filling is not delicious. The gringos in the area will love it tho. They don't know better.

This restaurant used to be known for its generous portions, but unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. What they’re offering now for $12 is surprisingly small and just doesn’t feel worth the price anymore. It’s disappointing, especially considering how good it used to be. Looks like I’ll be heading over to Cibao from now on instead.
Horrible experience. I used to go here until today. Paid for my order and the same woman who took my order and my payment asked me on the way out if i paid. I said yes and asked her if she would ask anyone else that and she responded with an attitude saying that she would. She mentioned that she served me but that doesn’t mean I paid. Mind you, I paid with her. I went into my bank statement and showed her the amount I paid and she asked me, “what is the date?” I immediately left. These people are rude and racist to anyone that doesn’t look just like them. Do not support this business.
Never again.... ordered two selections and both had the same taste. Rice was greasy, roast pork was too salty.
I was appalled by this place! I went here on a whim and will not be returning. I saw them disrespect a patron and could not believe it! The lady seemed visually upset and they snickered at her … that is terrible customer service and will be taking my business elsewhere. I will be reporting that.
Bad service, full of racist staff they mocked my friend and thought that my friend didn't speak Spanish. Never ordering from here ever again this place is bs.
