Sumo Amarillo Reviews
The food service in Amarillo provided outstanding service, going above and beyond to accommodate my daughter's birthday party. The guests all agreed it was the ideal location, and I was unable to attend, but the staff's exceptional service impressed me greatly. They sang Happy Birthday 🎁 to my daughter from her mom, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction, which deserves 5 stars
I ordered delivery, not dine in. It was incredible, delicious in every way!!! Not sure about service or atmosphere but my food got delivered in a super timely manner and was friggin’ amazing!!! Bento Box Hibachi Dinner!!!! For tha win!!!
Discovered this place because of proximity to hotel. Had my doubts but actually had a delicious meal. I think the menu is too huge and there's no way to maintain consistency or know what's good or not. But I beleive it really depends on what you order that determinea a 5 star and 1 star review. I had the Avocado Delight Sushi and it was really amazing. An outer avacado outside and inside there was spicy tuna and mixed crab. There was no rice in it and the texture was so soft and tasted great. Portion sizes are good and they have a Happy Hour 4 to 7pm. I would give it a chance and try to stay with their stronger dishes. The ambience is a little dark and the service isn't exactly 5 star but I would consider it a great value.
Was our first trip in and it was a pleasant surprise! Food was wonderful, reasonably priced, and the staff was great. 10/10 will be back for sure.
I was in town for a work trip. I went here on a Tuesday evening. It was pretty dead, but the waitress /bartender was excellent. The drinks were great and I just told them to bring me 3 rolls of whatever sushi the chefs wanted to make. I can't remember what they were called but dang they were good. I'll definitely make it a point to go here again next time I'm around. The price was surprisingly lower than I expected.
I absolutely love this place for quick and tasty treats during happy hour. Pictured here is half devoured chilled raspberry sake, and their signature crunchy rain roll and another roll I don't remember the name of. Absolutely delicious, and the wait staff is always attentive and pleasant. This is my go to sushi place for several years now!
Great New Year's experience. The kani puffs were hot and fresh. Right out of the fryer. As were the egg rolls. The steamed dumplings were light and right amount of filling. I got the sushi roll monkey balls and they are the best. Can find anything like them anywhere else. They have a batter and are fried. The waitress was super attentive.
Exceptional service every time I've been! The food is always top tier. I highly recommend Rain!
Food was amazing. Our server wasn't the best. She got one item mixed up and forgot things. She tried arguing with a member of my family on if his order was right or not when she was told it was wrong. She then rechecked the ticket she put in and saw the order she brought was wrong. It wasn't busy. But I hear the servers aren't usually like that. But the food was really really good. Will definitely go back for the food. It was nice in there and bigger than I expected.
Amazing service, I highly recommend the lychee martini. Got 3 plates of sushi and all were delicious. I fell like the hot tea a lil over priced but the cold reas are good. Paid $50 3 plates of sushi, 2 teas and a martini. UPDATE: 2/19/22 I Came in to place a togo order bc they dont know how to answer phones apparently. The host said she would be just a sec to take my order but decided to seat people that came in after waited 10mins and still no one to place an order with. So I just left. Shame cause their food is good.
Used to be one of my favorite places to get sushi, but this last visit was the worst sushi I've ever had. The crunchy cabbage roll had wet, raw cabbage on top of it. It's supposed to be tempura cabbage, and it was breaded, but it wasn't fried at all. The crunchy rain roll wasn't crunchy at all either. Soggy panko on top of the sushi doesn't add any crunch.
What happened to this place? I haven't been in years! I walked in and couldn't believe how bad it has gone downhill. The atmosphere was so different. Don't waste your money. Plenty of other other sushi places in town. I don't see how this place is still in business. Oh and the bathroom smelled like they had a severe sewage problem.
This sushi tasted rancid, and the avocado was old. I would not order again. The portions are good for the price, but the overall freshness is not up to par for such a high-end restaurant. The service was okay at best. The ambiance was nice, as well as the music—even if I did just order takeout. The waiting was reasonable, and they were quite quick. But the food was a huge letdown. I do not recommend this to anyone; save your money and go elsewhere.
Will not ever be back. I ordered the hibachi steak and fried rice. The food had a horrible smell, but I tried to eat it anyway. Almost made me sick. Tasted just like it smelled. I'm really hoping I'm not sick from it later. The service was decent, but that's the only thing going for this restaurant.
