we had such a great experience at Rice N Spice, everything from the tandoori and biryani to the crispy fries and vegan options was full of rich, perfectly balanced spices. You can really taste the authenticity in every bite. The interior is cozy, there's a sunny terrace for nice weather, and the location on Molenstraat is super charming. Highly recommend for anyone craving flavorful Indian food in a relaxed setting! 🍛🌿
Got a shared meal for dinner; totally worth it! Great portion, great taste, and food is served STEAMING not “just” warm! Friendly service and nice variation of menu. Get the shared dining for best experience, but their individual menu slaps as well (have not tried it, but i can imagine). As an Asian, the spice is what i expected (they can make it spicier though). I am happy to be able to dine here!
We had a nice dinner here, friendly staff and good prices. The food was delicious!
I lived in The Hague for two years and never came here, I now think I’ve eaten far too many times in places that were not half as good as this. The food is delicious and the service outstanding, but my absolute selling point (actually two): it’s the only place where I’ve eaten in this city (Indian or otherwise) that truly delivers on spiciness. I asked for spicy and I got SPICY. Loved it! The second strong selling point for me is the option to order half portions, I was alone and wanted a little variety and I was already prepared to order one thing and get a ton of it, but luckily I was able to order to different things!
The food was very good and tasty. Service was friendly and fast. The food was delivered really fast. Almost no waiting time. And it was a nice vibe And we got a free cup of coffee and Indian Tea at the end. Love it
As someone who’s passionate about Indian cuisine, I’m always searching for restaurants that serve food with authentic flavor and depth – and Rice and Spice on Molenstraat absolutely delivers. I’ve dined here twice this year with colleagues, and both times the food was delicious and satisfying. The samosas are perfectly crispy with a well-seasoned filling, and the chicken vindaloo is outstanding – rich, bold, and properly spicy, just the way it should be. Pro tip: if it’s a hot day outside, maybe save the vindaloo for a cooler moment – it’s delicious but packs serious heat! 🌶️😅 The staff is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Portions are generous without being overwhelming – just right.
Everything was absolutely perfect, from the delicious food to the attentive service. My parents and I were particularly impressed by the authenticity of the food. The flavors were so vibrant and complex, and it was clear that the dishes were made with love. We also loved the fact that the restaurant has such a rich history of serving Bollywood stars and celebrities. The staff at your restaurant were also incredibly kind and welcoming. We felt like we were part of a family, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Thank you again for such a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back soon!
We spent a nice evening at this Indian restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and ambience was delightful… The restaurant owner is very warm and hospitable, and so is the overall staff! Highly recommended if you miss Indian food in The Netherlands; good veg and non-veg options.. Must try: Mutton Roghan, Fried fish, Naan, Biryani, Daal and Samosa 👌
Absolutely delicious food at this Indian restaurant! The ambience was wonderful too, making for a perfect dining experience. They have amazing vegetarian options too. Must haves: Naan, Chicken Biryani, Mutton Roghan, Daal and Samosa!
I love it. When I opened the food box I felt like I arrived back to our country, Myanmar. Because we are neighbours counties, therefore we eat a lot of top quality Indian food.
Ordered takeaway and it was very good. I’ve tried a lot of Indian places in The Hague but this is def one of the best. Very friendly service and actually not pricy at all. Will def go here again soon!
The food was delicious (I had samosas, butter chicken and cheese naan) and the service was quite fast, the restaurant is quite spacious and it wasn't too crowded. Staff was friendly.
Really authentic Indian restaurant in Kings street of Den Hauge ..such a taste at very much affordable rates ..had a great evening there..very helpful and courteous staff..
The food was very very delicious (and not too spicy and good portion sizes), the interior is super cute and the service was really good. We’re definitely coming back!!
Delicious! Indian food with a real authentic feel. Not greasy or overly salty but delicious spicy flavours. Strongly exceeds expectations!
This is the best Indian restaurant in the Hague. The overall ambience and the service in the restaurant is outstanding. North Indian food is really nice
Amazing food, very nicely decorated place and very kind service. Rich delicious flavors, put together with care. Will for sure go again
An excellent address! This family-run restaurant offers succulent dishes and impeccable service. Child-friendly restaurants
So far the best Indian restaurant in the Hague. Food was delicious and portions were good, staff were attentive. Would definitely visit again
Very nice food, delicious, nice service. Durgesh the best server in town. This man deserves a raise!
Had a very enjoyable meal. Lamb rogan josh and naan. Good portions, nice atmosphere, tasty food
Amazing food and very friendly staff. There are plenty of both meat and vegetarian options in the menu making it a great place to visit with a group of friends!
Good atmosphere, good service But thé most important is, they have véry good Indian Food !!! Tried a lot, but this is one of the best India Restaurants in The Haugue!
One of the best Indian restaurants ever! This is the taste what I remember from India. Thank you for this amazing culinary experience.
Amazing food, amazing service, and great atmosphere. 10/10 recommend. Coming back soon :)
Dinner for two, Nice atmosphere, nice decorated, bollywood inspiration with music and posters, Butter chicken was superb!
I got the 5 course special for 2 people. It was a ton of food, which is what I wanted, and it was all delicious!
eventbooking.top the best padel Academy in the world says this is great restaurant and we as Padel coaches will be back soon.
Top quality food and restaurant. We ate chicken tikka masala and it was delicious.
perfect place to have Quality and delicious food..Rice n Spice
I had a fantastic evening at this dining establishment. The food was exceptional, I loved the ambience, it was spotlessly clean, and the young woman who served our table was affable and knew how to serve perfectly. I look forward to dining there again.
Very kind attentive people, lovely food, great atmosphere. I definitely recommend it if you want some good quality Indian food.
Edit: They changed the menu to be more clear about vegetarian options. Gave me meat while ordering vegetarian as a life long vegetarian. Then conversation got heated when they blamed me for ordering wrong. There was a big language barrier on their side. Not vegetarian friendly. The mango lassi was nice though.
We were curious and tried Rice N Spice for the first time yesterday. We had no references, no previous information about the place and we are absolutely delighted! How fabulous was the food! The menu is really generous, for all tastes, with plenty of vegan and gluten free options. The staff is kind. Lovely ambiance, finely decorated, still cool and sober. Will definitely go back more times.
Very very delicious butter chicken! Sauce and chicken supreme quality. I order here for many years and I’m a butter chicken expert so if that not is saying enough. Plain naan was too expensive via Uber eats, like EUR 5.50. Was not able to get such naan this time due to financial difficulties. Shared butter chicken with my bro. When girlfriend came home she did not recognise us cause we turned into two smal Indians. Spent like EUR 19.50. Maybe next time naan from the house? :)
We ate here at Friday evening and had a great night. The host recommended us a two great dishes and a nice bottle of wine to match with our dinner. The not so spicy food was still rather spicy, so watch out if you cant withstand too much spice :). Enjoy your dinner!
Came in quite late, the wonderful people made us delicious food. The food was freshly made and very well spiced. Not overly hot, just a good amount of tasty spices.
After a day at The Hague we had a delicious meal at rice n spice. The food is incredible the service wonderful. Thank you so much, when were at The Hague again, we know were to go.
Absolutely delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection and the garlic naan was the best I’ve ever eaten. The decor is stunning down to the adorable plates and cutlery.Highly recommended. Can’t wait to eat there again.
It's a very good restaurant, specially for Indian people who miss their country food, and music! 😊 Me and my wife often visit this restaurant, and I do like their breads & vegetable curries while my wife loved their "Chicken Biryani", and told me that it's the best in town. Try it out yourself!!
Delicious authentic Indian food. Highly recommend.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rice n Spice, an authentic Indian restaurant that exceeded my expectations. The ambience was warm and inviting, complemented by attentive staff. The diverse menu showcased a range of flavorful dishes, each prepared with precision and traditional spices. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a standout, tender and rich in a perfectly spiced sauce. The naan bread was freshly baked and served piping hot. Overall, rice n spice offers a delightful culinary journey through India's diverse flavors, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine.
What a 5 STAR experience at Rice & Spice. Great Ambiance, Courteous staff and delicious food. We went to Rice & Spice after we walked out of RAMNA RESTAURANT mid-way (inedible over-priced disaster) which is about 50 yards away from RICE & SPICE. As we walked out of RAMNA Restaurant mid-way through dinner, we had lost our appetite although we hadn't eaten much. We therefore ordered vegetable Biryani, A samosa Chat, Mulligatawny Soup and tandoori chicken. we enjoyed the food. Great taste at great prices. A must visit restaurant for authentic Indian food!
We had a lovely dinner, staff is incrediblely nice. Loved their paneer and the starters!
Delicious Indian food and amazing service. Made with a lot of love. We ordered a bunch of different things and everything was delicious very well made. Highly recommend.
I liked it a lot, nice service, good portions, even the small terrace was quite comfortable. Shoutout to the chef who surprised me by an extra small dish with potatoes as a gift from the house. I'll eat there again when I'll visit The Hague✔️
The food was great. Lots of flavor from the different spices. Good heat from the spicy dishes. Pilau rice was best I have had. Surprisingly our 3 yr old loved it too.
Finally an authentic Indian resturant serving really flavorful dishes in a great ambience. Very prompt service - thanks Sona for a great evening. We had a great vegetarian meal starting with broiled broccoli (watch out for the spice level) followed by palak paneer cooked just right with garlic nan which topped the charts and vegetable biryani with raita. We topped with a dessert platter (little underwhelming) consisting of gulab jambu, rad Malai (top flavor) and mango gulfi (sub-par). Ordered too much food but the flavor profiles were really delectable.
The entourage is great, but they seemed not to have enough staff. That caused some significant delays. But the food we had was quite good. It could have been even more ricy and spicy. But nothing to complain! I’m an indian food lover, and it was not bad, but they could improve on their food too; however I still do recommend it!
Very friendly and attentive staff. Good portion size and we were able to take the left overs home. Not spicy, could have been a bit spicier but over all the food was good. There was live music as well.
Second time eating here and I will come back. Food is good, it’s a cozy warm place. Sona the waitress is SO NICE and professional. Thank you Rice N Spice.
Got the take away Biryani package. It was pretty good and the quantity of the food was also more than enough for one peson.
Tikka masala was amazing, mix grill less and Biriyani was very good.
Very tasty and delicious food! The Service was also very Kind, Friendly and courteous. The only minus point: we asked if the dish was spicy, the answer was "just a little bit". Unfortunately the dish was extremely spicy and not everyone could have eaten it.
Pretty good Indian food in a nice setting with attentive service. A bit pricey for the food personally but still a solid option. We are still new to Den Haag so unable to compare with our Indian options in the region.
A good Indian food restaurant in The Hague. We had dal makhni (must have), chana masala, tandoori chicken, chicken curry, lamb biriyani, and gulab jamun with ice cream. The food was rich in taste and our requests for more spicy/less spicy options were accommodated. We also got complementary veggies! Would only say that maybe gulab jamun weren’t soaked in the syrup long enough.
Service workers are really nice and helpful and smiling, but not as attentive as I would have liked. The food was good, but not the best Indian food I have tasted. Beautiful restaurant. Not coming again unfortunately, but still not a bad experience at all.
Place is ok but has to do much better due to the surrounding competition. Green salad had zero effort into it. Tandoori and butter chicken were fine. The music that was played was sad and cheap!
The location is centric and easy to find. It's also open on Sundays, but only for dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated in Indian style, has a beautiful furniture and lots of plants. The cleaning needs more attention. The service stuff should provide more information about the dishes. We chose 5 course menus to have a general idea about the food, some of the dishes were very good (the fish masala, the biriyani and the lentils soup), the dessert was disappointing. If you want to get a nice table, then is better to reserve. Overall a good experience.
Tasteful and calm ambience with attentive, friendly service. The setting is perfect for an intimate meal. Will not come back as the food was disappointing, especially for the price. Specifically, all our dishes were quite bland in spicing and aroma, the tandoori chicken dish lacked tandoori heat/smoke, and our tandoori broccoli was wilted and soggy.
We used to order from here quite often. While the vegetarian dishes used to be good in the past, quality now varies wildly. On some days the food is great, on other days like today, all dishes were despicable - there was no sense of flavour or balance, and the food was absolutely unappetising.
Curry was decent, Naan wasn't real Indian Bread. Lassi wasn't thick. Service wasn't good.
Upon first impressions, the restaurant looked so nice and inviting. Well-decorated but not over the top chi-chi decoration. The food looked good but the flavours were somewhat lacking. I was with an Indian friend and even for them, it was not reaching their expectations. We ordered starters of paani poori (non-alcoholic), tandoori chicken and chicken tikka, plain naan, along with a side of chana masala. They looked very appetizing but missed some flavours. It was a busy evening. Upstairs was being used for a special private event. Quite a few diners coming in while we were there. Servers were a bit overwhelmed. But maintained their composure very well.
The food was ok. The owner of the the restaurant is super annoying and cheap. We ordered multiple main courses and asked them to pack the leftovers, the owner packed 5 dishes in 2 small box 🙃 Better go to other restaurants if you have an option.
It has been a long time since I had such a bad service. Not the waiter’s fault because there is only one waiter for the whole restaurant. We had to wait more than one hour for the food & the table to be made. We had to ask 3 times for a drink each time we wanted something to drink and the second time we ordered, the drink never arrived. The food is ok, nothing really special. Don't really recommend it
Food was great. We had the paneer kadhai and the rogan josh which were both absolutely wonderful. Lamb was perfectly fall apart tender and the gravy had just a hint of spice. Be aware that because these restaurant is more Desi style that everything will be sweeter. This was especially the case in the pilau rice and mint chutney which had a synthetic green colour and no spice at all which was disappointing. Despite the merits of the food the service was AWFUL. We got seated about the same time as another larger group. We had to wait 30 minutes to even order being ignored several times and repeatedly told someone (one of three waiting staff) would be coming soon. They did only after this larger group had received their starters already. After finally ordering and finishing our starters we again had to wait another 45 minutes for our mains. We were starving by the time it had arrived and were frankly quite disappointed for the portion sizes considering the price. 24 euros for a 1 person curry…not enough to share. We also ordered two new beers with it. These never arrived. As soon as we finished we just got up to pay because we knew that if we waited for them to come to us it would’ve taken another century or so. We found out they hadn’t even registered our drink order. The staff was chaotic and unorganised which is sad and very disappointing considering the food. Would not dine in again because of this.
Food was tasty, but the behavior of staff was pathetic and shameful on the name of indian. And the service was also slow. Ordered something which was not even noted and when asked to deliver, the staff blamed us that we have not ordered it. Even when explained everything then the manager misbehaved and claimed if customer do not drink then they are worthless for them as they could not make huge profit and this is why they delayed the food.
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Rice and Spice Den in Hagg, and I must say, it was a complete disappointment. As someone who loves Indian cuisine and appreciates the flavors and authenticity it has to offer, this restaurant failed to deliver on every front. First and foremost, the food lacked any discernible flavors. It was bland and lacked the complexity and spices that are characteristic of Indian cuisine. It felt like they were just going through the motions without putting any effort into creating a truly enjoyable dining experience. Speaking of authenticity, it was sorely missing from our meal. The dishes we ordered seemed like cheap imitations of Indian food rather than the real deal. The flavors were watered down, and it felt like they were trying to cater to a non-Indian palate, completely disregarding the essence of the cuisine. To add insult to injury, the prices at Rice and Spice Den were exorbitant for what we received. We expected to pay a premium for quality Indian food, but what we got was far from it. It felt like a money-grab, with no justification for the inflated prices. Overall, my experience at Rice and Spice Den was highly disappointing. The lack of flavors, the absence of authenticity, and the unjustifiably high prices left a sour taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a genuine Indian dining experience. Save your money and seek out a more reputable establishment that truly understands and respects the art of Indian cuisine.
We ordered food. Paid also about 6€ for a delivery. The food was supposed to arrive between 30-60mins. Two hours after the order was placed and confirmed we received our order CANCELLATION. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL !!!
Really mediocre biriyani, this isn’t Indian food to my surprise. They didn’t have the basics covered. I hope they do a better job in the near future for the prices they charge. Do not reccommend if you want to spend 16 euros on a biriyani. Not worth the price
I've just picked up papri chaat and chicken tikka chaat for takeout, hoping to eat is. just to find there are NO SPOONS!!! Like what on earth!! how am i supposed to eat this now. I called them and they said they never give spoons, like are you for real?!
One star for the lone soul who worked there very hard attending all the tables. The food is anything but Indian. Add some red and green colours, and brand it Indian. Horrid and horrible !!!
We went yesterday to celebrate our anniversary and we chose this restaurant because it looked nice from the outside. After we arrived, the waitress took 15min to give us the menu and place our drinks. After we ordered our food ( with the owner ) it took them 1HOUR to bring us our food (we noticed that other 2 tables we also waiting for quite sometime). Before their bring our food, the waitress was keeping asking us if we want free drinks for compensating the delay. We declined because we wanted our food and not drink. Finally the food came and it was a disaster. The mix grilled we order wasn’t mixing at all ( 90% chicken, small piece of sausage ( called lamb ) and no fish. We informed the fish was missing and they brought us something that didn’t look like a fish and completely uneatable. The side dishes were tasteless. Unfortunately! We asked the bill and asked for compensation. The owner didn’t want to hear from us the reasons for asking a compensation in the price charged and he was really unfriendly. That’s was a bad experience! The only good thing from this restaurant was the waitress. She was really kind to us. We highly recommended her to find somewhere else to work because she was too nice for that restaurant.
We had dinner here and reserved a table the day before (mostly because we thought the place was going to be very popular and authentic because of the newspaper article in the window). I have to add though that when we reserved the table, the member of staff didn't even write down our name or anything. This should have been a red flag in hindsight perhaps. On arrival, the service was friendly and the boss himself came to greet us and took our order which was nice. However, after our initial order, things took a turn. The restaurant was far from busy (all in all probably had around ten guests in there, two-three of whom already had their food) and even though we specifically asked the owner to ask the kitchen to please not put any fresh coriander/cilantro on top of any of the dishes, when they arrived they were all full of coriander. We had waited for a considerable amount of time until the food came (around 45 minutes) and when it did, it was simply disappointing and tasted bland and watered down. None of us were able to taste any discernible flavours or spices or any kind of nuances. My parents especially have had Indian foods in many countries (specifically European countries) and love Indian cuisine and they were absolutely disappointed by the lack of flavours at Rice N Spice. We ate maybe 20-30% of the food (only because we were so hungry because of the long wait) and when the waiter came to check on us, I told him we were disappointed by the food. Unfortunately, he didn't ask why or apologise at all and just promptly presented us with the bill of around 115€ which is quite hefty. The boss didn't come to check back either after taking our initial order. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience at Rice n Spice. It's unfortunate we didn't spend my mum's birthday at a more flavoursome establishment that was worth the money.
I have walked past this restaurant many times and I decided to order in, as its not far from me. The food arrived on time and it was good temperature. The taste was good, but I have had better for that price. I would try it again. Unfortunately I have had to edit my review! I finally decided to eat at the restaurant. The service was good and so were most of the dishes. However we ordered the chicken tandoori and you couldn’t taste the spices. We asked politely to change it and they were not very happy to do so. Their offer was to make a curry out of the chicken. I didn’t accept this and asked for a new curry as the chicken tasted like it was microwaved. They did agree and changed it to what tasted like karahi chicken. The chicken just tasted off. It is a shame I have had to change my review, as the rest was good. I am not very picky as per my other reviews and had they offered me to take it off the bill I would probably not have written this. Normally I would get angry because I didn’t get my satisfaction. Luckily that anger is put to writing.
I ordered chicken tandoori here. I am sorry but it was complete failure. I do not recall myself tasting chicken worse than this. The restaurant's atmosphere is good and cozy, the service was fine, but the food was terribly bad. I do not want to remember the taste. I took a couple of bites and could not continue. It was so bad that I do not want to try again another dish.
Being Indian, can't say it's Indian food at all. Over and above the taste was quite horrible. Service was super slow. Can't say anything good about the restaurant other than cordial behaviour of the staff
Shocking! I love Indian cuisine and travel to find it. Booked a table for 7:30pm and had to wait 30min to be seated. Then an additional 20-30min to get someone to take orders. Once orders were taken it was a 1 and half hour wait before we eventually left to go find food elsewhere. And by the time we left most places were closed. Not one for complaining but this was an awfully memorable experience and I would not recommend this place.
Very disappointed service, took way to long for preparing, the food was totally not tasty, microwaved meat, and than baked in a curry sauce. Even the naan was not baked properly still raw. Ordered lamb but got chicken instead. Finally got the lamb curry but in meanwhile the naan cooled off. Desert was old, maybe for days in the fridge. Don’t waist your money!! For us, never ever going back again.
The food is overpriced, 5-6 euros more per item. The service is strange - double portion without asking. The waiter is too obstructive. Worst experience in the Hague. I do not recommend
Would leave 0 stars if I could. Food was poor quality, portions were too small for the price. Felt scammed upon entry as the set menu was advertised outside for 22.50pp and was 27.50pp inside. Owner was belligerent when we brought this up and stated it was for takeaway (stated nowhere on the sign). Waited a ridiculous amount of time for food to arrive, just to leave hungry and very disappointed.
The worst Indian food I have ever had. Stay away. From uncooked tomato curry to extra sweet butter chicken (which btw is never sweet), this place is not even mediocre - but actually bad and overpriced.
I honestly don’t know how this place has a high rating I can make better Indian food at home. Worst butter chicken I have ever had.
I got the takeaway biryani. I know the restaurant is called Rice N “Spice”, but I specifically asked beforehand if the biryani could be made not spicy, and the staff said yes, not spicy. When I got it, the biryani was very spicy, even with yoghurt. I feel like it’s not fair to mislead a customer that way. I just wish the staff was honest and told me it’s spicy. It was otherwise tasty and a big portion, but unfortunately, I couldn’t finish my meal 🌶️ :(.
This is a perfect place to ruin your mood. It’s a shame that such a restaurant exists in Den Haag. Horrible service & even worse the food quality & taste. We were kept waiting 30mins to order, then an hour later told they forgot to pass it to the kitchen. Finally when the food arrived it was simply tasteless. When I offered my feedback to the owners (who were always busy on phone), instead of accepting they started a blame game- it was everyone’s fault but theirs. Never had such horrible experience in my life.
A disgrace. The worst experience possible. No service. Two staff "working" We felt like an inconvience to tyem. The place was freezing. Food was inediable and unrecognisable. No apology offered. They couldn't care less. We will not be back.
