Il Cavolo A Merenda Asti Reviews
Our family had a wonderful dinner and some of the three top pizzas of our lives; and we‘ve had a looot! The service was excellent: sophisticated, attentive, quick and still witty. The ambiente in the historic city centre of Asti is fantastic.
Amazing. Very different from standard taste. Unique taste of pasta. Nice vine. Very friendly price! Recommendations!!!
Il Cavolo A Merenda is an absolute delight! From the warm ambiance to the exceptional service, everything was perfect. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the antipasti offered a delicious array of fresh, local flavors. The vitello tonnato was a standout starter — light, creamy, and simply amazing. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive, making the entire dining experience unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine!
Personnel is cheerful and available. Local food of high quality and very good tastes assemblies. Recipes are from Piedmont tradition. Price is in line with food quality. I would suggest to try all courses they have!
I love this place!! I’ll be back anytime I am in Piedmont! Phenomenal food, great wine selection, a great mix of regulars and locals, and you can watch them cook in the kitchen as it’s open! Phenomenal space with laughter and great energy! I went solo and left with many friends! Thanks yall!
Lovely restaurant in the old town of Asti. Very friendly staff. Menu not too big, but with typical Italian food. Good wine selection with fair prices. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Very nice little restaurant hidden in Asti's alleys No more than a dozen of tables, in a very rustic environment, well cured and with a lot of curios knick-knacks to look at The menu is very inte…
The food is expensive and comes in small portions so you'd expect high quality. I got the black truffle pasta and thought it was very average. The service is friendly but as the restaurant was getting full, it became very slow. We were a large group and put in the back in a small room with low ceiling. It became very noisy with other people around

The service was nice. And the wine was good. But that was definitely not the best meal of my trip to Italy. I chose a beef medallion. The meat was ok, but the side was not. Some slices potatoes, that felt dry and rubbery at the same time. The dessert was disappointing: it was supposed to be a fruits carpaccio with yoghurt. It was surprisingly small - like 2 spoonful of yoghurt on a few slices of pinapple. My friend took an ice cream. It was an ice cream stick, in a cardboard box. Not very restaurant like to us.
The part I liked: local beer bottled in a champagne bottle! And friendly service. The part I didn't like: my dinner. The gnocchi was not good (poured from a giant bag of frozen nuggets and a very starchy sauce) and the vegetables a combination of under and over cooked (cooked until grey green). My companion liked his dinner reasonably well, though. So I added a star.
Warm welcome, good but somewhat boring starters, great sparkling wine, service failing with the increased amount of people visiting the restaurant. Main dishes: way too al dente risotto (not sure if this is normal here, I didn't like it too much) cold plates, lukewarm food, Gnocchi nothing but spicy and also half cold. Pity for the mains... Good red wine with the main, good dessert, perfect espresso. Price okish, although great if the mains would've been better. Atmosphere was busy, warm, rather on the noisy side, everybody knows everybody. We felt like being left out. All in all a visit of which we expected way more. Not recommending the dishes we had.
