Bai Sushi Astoria Reviews
This was the best sushi I've had for a long time. I ordered take out but the service I received just for that was great- quick and friendly.
Went there for dinner on Wednesday, the food was great and the service was amazing.. the server was very kind and friendly.. will be back soon
Delicious sushi at a very reasonable price. Love the Spicy California and Spicy Tuna rolls. The service is friendly and quick. I keep coming back!
Great sushi, reliable friendly service, authentic ambiance. 10 out of 10. Go there once a month on the usual
Awesome salmon teriyaki lunch special. Comes with plenty of food, some of the best salmon I've ever had. Checked vaccination status for dine-in.
This is my favorite sushi spot in the city! The service and food never disappoints and the lunch specials are great!
Always fresh, high quality sushi and fair prices. Can’t get better than this. I live in fresh meadows but will stop by Bai sushi whenever I’m in the area! I love their crazy salad!
Best place for sushi in Astoria!! So cozy and nice! Their Philadelphia and California are absolutely delicious! Their shrimp tempura and bento boxes are also a must have!❤️⭐️🙌
I’ve been a customer for years and Bai will always be my favorite sushi spot in Astoria. So clean, fresh and reliable. Love this place!
excellent food and service I everything definitely recommend this restaurant
Absolutely love this sushi joint. Authentic Japanese food with expansive menus. Sushi is fresh and it is also where you can get the exotic stuff like sea urchin “uni” or sweet shrimp “Ebi. I have even gotten take out and been throughly impressed
Very polite customer service, food is always tasy and fresh! Delivery service is fast! One of the best sushi places on the neighborhood! Keep up a good work!
Fresh and delicious authentic Japanese far made with love in a venue that feels homely and inviting. Thank you for making our last night in New York truly heartwarming- both for the food and the atmosphere!
Small place but it was consistently busy while we were there. Great prices and fresh sushi. Good menu selection. The bill for two people came out to $80 with two beers!
This place should have much higher ratings. The quality of the food is amazing. the server very kind and friendly to help us order the food! 2 thumbs up👌🏻
I’m very picky and have a good nose! I tried many place in Astoria and decided to write a review about this one! First time I tried their sushi I liked it very much and then tonight I tasted the teriyaki dinner box. Shrimp tempura was so delicious with sauce and the salad had a great sauce too. Soup and beef were delicious too(especially beef and vegetables is the best so far, tastier than many Manhattan restaurants too) and important thing is that the place has nice air! Air ventilation is good enough not to feel all dishes on your clothes!
not a sushi fan usually but fell in love after delivery. one of the few places that delivers uni and urchin. small edit: was there a few days ago and sat outside as they have tailored for outdoor dining. Food was great and the waitress was really nice and courteous. we had the secret fried rolls and really enjoyed it.
This place should have much higher ratings. The quality of the fish is amazing, order the salmon sushi far more often than I’d like to admit.
I love this place and have been a regular at Bai for years. My favorites are the spicy tuna, tropic roll, and miso soup. The green tea mochi ice cream is great, too. Whenever I’ve dined in, the staff has always been friendly, and they always have upbeat music and a chill atmosphere.
Always good food and good service
I have tried many Sushi places in Astoria. Bai Sushi is hands down the best. My favorites are the Sakura roll, Magma roll, and Samba roll. Lunch specials are very well priced. Consistently SUPER fresh and delicious, with notable praise from a friend who travels regularly to Japan: "The sushi here is comparable to anything I have ever experienced in Tokyo."
I live nearby and order delivery regularly as well as dining in. The Quality of the sushi is way above what I would expect from a local japanese restaurant. Delivery is quick, and everything is neatly packed. The restaurant is small, but cozy. It's not easy to accommodate a group larger than 6. The staff is friendly, and the Chef will always take care of you.
One of my favorite sushi places in Astoria. I love eating here and also order from them all the time. The Bai, Blue Moon and Dynamite rolls are amazing. Their udon is also very delicious. It's a small restaurant. The staff is friendly and the music is always good. Definitely give this place a try.
The freshest most delicious sushi in queens! The friendly staff, freshness of ingredients and great prices make this my #1 sushi spot in queens. A most try! Highly recommended!
Bai is always welcome in our lives. In fact we welcome it every single week. Love this place and the people that work there. Big bang and Titanic rolls are the best. The sushi chef here is very friendly a d excellent at his craft.
Really good quality fish for an amazing price. Definitely worth every cent!!! And cute little spot to sit in.
Nice place, small but cozy, the food ia good, i like the titanic, the okonomiyaki is best !, also the server is nice
I love this place. Their sushi is always fresh and they don't make you wait long to get it, whether you are dining in or ordering out. They also have reasonable prices. One of my favorite sushi spots!
cozy little sushi place , the food is delicious, the rolls I had was very fresh. Their titanic roll and turtle roll are the best ! Nice and friendly service too.
Food is great and it feels homey inside I could not stop smiling .
I live in the area and this place has become my favorite sushi spot in NYC. It's small, cozy, and low key with plenty of sunlight. The rice is soooo good, and the fresh tasting fish complements it so well. There is a good selection of sake, but I usually just get some tea. I like how their tea doesn't use the bags like some places, I prefer the powder or leaves. The employees are so nice and the service is good. Highly recommend!
the sushi is really good especially titanic roll and turtle roll. the ambience is also good. i have Ashley as my server, she is friendly and explain which is recommended menu.
I've ordered take out but didn't have the opportunity to eat in until today.. so glad I did! New local fav. All of the items were a 10/10. You must try the spicy scallop! Service was amazing.
Astoria Local here! Don’t be fooled by the tacky logo. This place has a warm/comfortable atmosphere and delivers on quality sushi (recommend the Bai Roll & Spicy Salmon Roll) and friendly service.
i eat here 2-4 times a week!! i have never had a bad meal here and i'm always surprised by the high quality and affordable prices. i recommend the salmon lovers!! :3
One of my favorite sushi places here in Astoria. I have been their customer since 2019 and they never disappoint. Food is always fresh and delicious.
I absolutely love coming to Bai Sushi. Every time I am in New York, I eat here! Thank you so much for the excellent food & service.
This is one of my all-time favorite places for sushi. I order takeout 3-4 times a month and it's always fresh and incredibly delicious. I've never dined-in but the dining room area is very nice and has a cozy vibe. The service is friendly and the food is always ready when it says it will be.
The ambiance and cleanliness is awesome. There’s a tiny little window table which is by far the best seat in the house, the food is great and the service. I’ve been coming here for years and they never disappoint.
The Sushi is so fresh and very reasonable. I will be back loved it!!!
I’m about to put you on… This mom and pop shop has been in the neighborhood for a long time and their food never disappoint! For lunch specials, they have three rows for 14.95, that is a steel and it’s not full of rice as a filler! I’m not sure if they changed owners over the years, but the quality have been phenomenal time and time again!!
A hidden gem! The quality of fish is very high! Inside is a bit small, but really worth a try. They give cash discount, so be sure to bring cash, otherwise 3.5% fee for credit cards.
Such a cozy restaurant with amazing atmosphere. The server was incredibly kind and the service was perfect. The food was delicious.I’m really glad I chose to come here today!🫶🏻
First time I have tried sushi and it was absolutely amazing. Service and atmosphere was very cozy. Thank you !!
I ordered takeout from here for the first time last week. We got the Chef Special II and some assorted ala carte sushi pieces. We were blown away by the quality of the fish. The salmon was bright red with dense layers of fat, all the fish in the chef special tastes incredible, probably some of the highest quality fish I've had. Even some fancier omakase places don't compare. The fatty yellow tail, sake toro, and tuna toro were all insaney delicious. After ordering takeout, I've went in person twice last week with friends to pair this delicious fish with a cold Asahi and I was not disappointed (I only wish they had it on draft) They unfortunately didn't have any fatty tuna left, but everything else made up for that. The fluke, red snapper, white tuna, yellowtail were all so good The service staff were kind and attentive and chefs were excellent. I'd love to see a lightly torched version of the salmon toro one day. This spot will definitely be a regular stop for me. I also want to try the okonomiyaki next time.
Love the atmosphere and coziness of the place! A little gem we passed by in Astoria, truly deserve some more attention. Their Spicy Crunch Roll was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and my favorite, the Rainbow Roll with that just melt-in-your-mouth salmon tuna combo! Also, shoutout to the wonderful server, Michelle, for just being so helpful and bringing in the welcoming vibes. Her recommendations were spot on! Would def come back again to try some more! 😋
Been frequenting Bai Sushi for 30 years myself and my father has been coming here since they first opened. One of, if not the oldest, sushi restaurants in Astoria. Bai is a great restaurant because it has the best quality sushi for the price. Always rely on them for sashimi platters for parties.
The food was hot and fresh. The server was polite. My son enjoyed his food too. Will go back
Great vibes here! Anytime I’m in the area I stop here.I give the sushi a 10/10 and I am very picky with sushi. Great service as well everyone is super friendly!!
this little sushi place is kind of a hidden gem. they serve quality sushi at a reasonable price. this place is perfect for when you’re craving sushi or if you want to have a lowkey date spot. we tried their nigiris which were so good, a basic roll and a specialty roll. and we will definitely try to be back soon!
Best hole in the wall in Astoria. Go once a week. Whenever I try other sushi from other places it never hits the same as this. Their spicy mayo pairs perfectly with their fish. No matter what I order I’m never disappointed. Salmon is usually my way to go and the udon is good too.
By far the best restaurant in the world! This is my families go to. We’ve been coming here for 12 years now almost every week. The staff are always super nice and welcoming and not just because they know us but because they are amazing people! I always get the salmon lover w miso soup or the samba roll, they never disappoint! Another great option is the udon soup! Delicious! Will always love you guys 💗
They have no respect to people who’s working. These people are delivery guys and they make them to wait 20-30 min. These people don’t get hourly payment. They get payment per orders and for this restaurant it’s normal to steal from workers and give customers orders. They forget these people are waiting for customers orders too. That was a horrible experience. I gave 5 star because they were polite. They are polite and good people but it doesn’t mean you can steal people time. Don’t do it please
This is a hidden gem in Astoria, I love the place is such a beautiful small restaurant, the vibe is so warm and friendly. The staff is welcoming, the service is great and helpful. The food was so delicious, the sushi is fresh, the portions are so good and the lunch specials have various options. I loved it, one of my favorite places ✨
solid sushi spot! got the lunch special which was really good - 4 pc sashimi, 4pc california roll and we got a titanic roll to split. All solid. The inside is a little small and quiet so the whole restaurant will hear your convo haha - but otherwise very friendly and calm and clean inside.
Great food. Fresh and well made. Sushi rice consistency and flavor is perfect for the rolls. I tried today a Oyako Don and it was in point.
Great sushi. Fresh fish and tasty. Nothing out of this world delicious but it hit the spot. Everything from special rolls to standard rolls. Fast service and friendly staff. Great little hole in the wall spot. Will definitely come back.
There are not that many places like Bai Sushi! Very good prices and in the same time good quality of food with decent portion! The waitress always greet you and serve you water! As for food i usually order shrimp tempura and crab roll, they are so good!
This place has the freshest best sushi i've ever had. and OK their customer service is lacking, so if you come here to get ur feet kissed by the host, this place is not for you!! however the food is fantastic and i never get tired of it. if you go to a restaurant for taste, come here if you go to restaurant for customer service, try elsewhere
Affordable and the sushi is excellent! The Cucumber Avocado, Tuna Roll & Asparagus Rolls are $4.94 ea., Shrimp Cali @$5.50 ea and the Sashimi Deluxe (big dish) @$21.50. The Mochi Ice Cream Chocolate will set you back $3.50. All in all great spot for Sushi and quick service means you are in and out.
Best sushi in town. I would recommend this place to anybody. The food is always fresh. The staff is very polite.
Dinner has been excellent. I've dined twice on the full menu. Today I had the lunch special the two spicy rolls didn't taste good at all. Disappointed 🙁
Been here 50x Like anyplace else, mistakes happen. Fish is always fresh, chef/owner is gracious and inviting. And specials are always wonderful. My only critique is to be sure about crab rolls. Sometimes they are mislabeled, and are really the fake crab. So ask. Other than that, I send all my sushi loving friends here.
The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. But they brought me out the wrong food from the kitchen (teriyaki salmon instead of teriyaki chicken). I pointed out to the waitress that she had made a mistake but I was starving so I would eat it anyway. She still charged me more for the salmon even though she screwed up my order. It was really good but not what I wanted.
The food was great, but the ice cream could be less bitter, and they could add a bathroom. But overall, it was great, the waiters were nice and the sushi was great. Would come back.
Update February 2025- the restaurant was kind enough to offer me to give them another try. I’m happy to report they really do care about the quality and customer experience. They did address the issue with the rice and it is much improved! If you are in Astoria, definitely stop in to try them! Thank you. Not sure what happened. This used to be my favorite spot for 2 years straight. The quality has gone way downhill. I thought it was a fluke at first but I ordered a few more times and the quality kept falling. The rice is just too wet. The rolls fall apart before you can get them in your mouth. The rolls are also messy and it seems they have used less and less fish maybe to cut costs? This place is definitely more pricey than many in the area but I paid more for the quality and it’s just not there anymore sadly. I probably won’t be going back, sad to say.
Solid sushi place that's not too far from my apartment. Nothing fancy or anything that knocked my socks off, but we were satisfied. They get bonus points from me for having a veggie roll on their menu that includes tofu in it (I appreciate being able to get a little protein in a vegetarian roll). Boyfriend was satisfied with his tuna avocado and salmon cucumber rolls (the latter of which was not on the menu but they happily made upon request). Our server was very nice while taking our orders, and refilled our glasses of water many times. We were there on a slightly earlier side for a Saturday evening, so it wasn't too crowded. The dining area is on the small side - I can imagine it being quite cramped when full.
I met him 1 year ago and he was very good, now that I was there it has changed a lot, the sushi is not as good as before :(
Order for delivery. Many items were incorrect. No explanation/reasons so the customer has to accept it. The worst chicken teriyaki I've ever had, like they fried these unwanted tiny pieces of chicken and then stir fry it again, make sure it's overcooked.
My favorite sushi place in Astoria has been my go-to for over three years, but I'm increasingly frustrated by the customer service. The waitress is often rude, and during my last visit, when I requested the receipt, she reacted poorly and actually went to the garbage to retrieve it. Giving me a receipt from the trash is completely unacceptable. This kind of behavior is concerning and could drive loyal customers away, especially considering how great their sushi is. It’s time for this establishment to address their service issues.
It was a typically good sushi, nothing extraordinary but nothing horrible either. I enjoyed it. I ordered a spicy crunch roll to be picked up online and didn’t expect that I still had to wait to pick it up even after giving them an ample amount of time to prepare my order. I would come back to try the other items on their menu.
Great food, but don't eat in. Order delivery. In the restaurant the serving staff is below par. I have ordered delivery from this place on numerous occasions and have picked up several times. But tonight I ate in. Go for the take out.
Got sushi delivered and was unsatisfied with the quality. Sushi rice seemed to be old and stale. Everything was falling apart when picking up with chopsticks. Tempura roll was soggy. Will not be ordering again.
This place used to be one of my favorite sushi places to go to in the neighborhood for many years. Unfortunately, it has since dwindled in quality. Service is lacking, the food is not fresh, even the plates and glassware they bring are dirty a lot of times. I'm very saddened that this has happened to one of my favorite restaurants as I have many fond memories at this place and it pains me to see what it has become.
As you can see I ordered the sushi and sashimi combo for delivery. But I received no combo. No rice and no soup. Most of the pieces are imitation crab and egg which really sucks as well. For the price I expected more fish. Disappointed. No chopsticks. No napkins. Just lazy.
0 stars- I ordered for delivery at 12:45pm, it’s now 2 hours later 2:45pm and my food still hasn’t arrived! And I only live a few blocks away. That’s how ya’ll doing business ... very disappointed. Do not recommend this place, please do yourself a favor and order from JJ Fusion instead . I will never order from here again
It feels like restaurants are just taking money from customers without giving them almost nothing for their money.. I order for takeout paid 20$ she put it in tiny little plastic bag . I felt like buying a can of tuna for my cat. Had to stop at pizza place for more food .
Do not waste your money on this place. First of all the food is mediocre at best. Second they got my order wrong. When I called the restaurant the woman who answered the phone was very rude & argued for 10 minutes. They have no sense of customer service. They refuse to accept their mistake. They did not offer me a lowly $2 refund. They just keep arguing with the customer until you can’t take it anymore. There are much better sushi restaurants in the neighborhood who appreciate their customers & know how to treat them, JJ’s Fusion, Kondo, Pink Nori.
Was very specific that I wanted brown rice and thy forgot it for one item for takeout after also making me wait for 1 hour and ten minutes after quoting 50 mins as the max. The salmon was not fresh either.
I'm very disappointed! This place is my favorite sushi place in Astoria and I've been weekly ordering for them but today I placed a delivery order on uber eats (as usual) and it wasn't delivery. I called the restaurant and the attendent informed I should call the uber eats, sod I asked her to help me to contact uber eats and help me with this issue and she simply said she couldn't help.
I really love the food and this was so far my favorite sushi spot. Last night we place our order around 10pm, the sushi order comes and we still waiting for our appetizer (crispy mountain g), almost finish sushi and nothing comes, we finished and decide to ask the server, she said no is no coming kitchen is close. No apologies, no sorry, she gives our appetizers to another table she knew and she didn’t said anything, she had a very rude attitude. I can understand people makes mistakes but at least try to fix it or something don’t act like you don’t care about customers. :(
I am a chef left your place disappointed Order salmon teriyaki don’t eat (try two bites is over cooked) the place is nice but soda is flat So sad I expected amazing Friday night but not
