Cafe Java Austin Reviews
Went on a late Friday morning and there was no wait for a table, but the place was very busy. The food was great and the servers very attentive. Great Atmosphere. This was our first trip to Austin, and we will be coming back next time we are here. 5 Stars.
Such a great experience! The customer service was friendly and welcoming, the coffee was perfect, and the food was fresh and delicious. You can really tell they care about their customers. Highly recommend!
Josh is amazing! He was our server and was so attentive and kind. We got the double shot teddy graham latte and strawberry matcha. Pretty solid drinks to wake us up. We also ordered the ribeye platter and split decision. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were more than enough to fill you up. Definitely coming back on my next trip to Austin.
We came for breakfast during rush hour on a Sunday, there was a lot of people but we were able to get seating quickly and get our food in a timely manner. Service was great everyone was really nice and the food was good too.
Came to cafe java two days in a row, had Billie the second day and by far had the best service! She was very attentive and genuinely enjoys her job and customers! :)
I’ve been here several occasions and it never disappoints. I always regret choosing somewhere else to eat. Chicken fried steak is always a go to.
Had to wait about 30 minutes on a Sunday, but they had seating and water available. The food was great, their mocha was delicious and their breakfast staples were all very tasty (tried pieces of what everyone ordered). I got the black bean veggie burger and it was tasty and filling. The fries were crunchy. My partner got the Philly cheesesteak and it was okay, but nothing to rave about.
My favorite breakfast in Austin. The grilled blueberry muffin is one of my favorite things to eat but anything on the menu is delicious.. This place is also super affordable and has great price and the servers are always really fast and friendly. But 100% come for the grilled muffins. Also love their specialty lattes. I always try something different this time. I had a really yummy Matcha. My friend and I love to come here as a group because they’re fast and yummy. Honestly, it’s a super unassuming place in a strip mall, but the breakfast is amazing. Definitely get there early though it can get packed pretty quickly.
I've been going here for years, and it's been great every single time. I love their flexibility, like when you want a dish, you can change anything about it and it's completely fine. When I went last I got the 2x2x2, but instead of French toast or a pancake, I got just toast on rye. This was a great alternative to something super sweet. I was also able to change out an egg for hash browns, and I've got to say, that their hash browns are amazing. Their bacon is also just super good. Their pancakes and French toast are also incredible, as well as their omelets. I also love how kid-friendly it is! The hot chocolate comes with whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup. Their kids menu is super fun and it has some games on it, and they have a gumball machine out front. 100/10 recommend!!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Java, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! The food was great, and the prices were very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. I ordered the BLT which came with crunchy hashbrowns, and it was simply fantastic. The sandwich had the perfect balance of toasted bread, crispy bacon, crisp lettuce, and ripe tomatoes. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that left me wanting more. Beyond the delicious food, Cafe Java also boasts a charming atmosphere. The cafe displays an array of local artwork, which not only enhances the aesthetic but also creates a unique style and sense of community. It’s a place where you can enjoy your meal while appreciating the creativity of local artists. Overall, I highly recommend Cafe Java for anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming environment. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this cafe is definitely worth a visit!
Very friendly staff who offered us his homemade sauce to spicen up our breakfast. 💯
This place is awesome. They seated us right away and took our drink orders. The owner came over and explained the menu to us. The food was incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious. We'll definitely be back here next time we visit my son in Austin. We can't wait to go back!
We come here almost every weekend. Food is consistent and delicious. Pancakes are perfection (and put kerbey lane to shame). Service is fast, friendly, warm, caring, and genuine. I have hesitated to post reviews because I don’t need the line to be longer than it already is on the weekends. This is a true hidden gem. My kids and I get a hug from Bobbie Jo as soon as we walk in every weekend, we love her! Even when my parents visit from Florida, they want to go here for breakfast AND lunch.
Family of 7+ baby came in for lunch today and Josh was our server. Service was friendly and on point. Food was tasty. All of the employees were very helpful. Will definitely return. Also, the Mexican latte was 12/10. Thank you for a great meal!
First time here. Came because nowhere in Austin makes simple corn beef hash which is nostalgic to my childhood. Called before I came and was told they do not put any onions or peppers in it. Arrived here and was seated quickly. The restaurant was so full busy and full of life and conversation. My fiancée and I were served by Billie Jo and Jessica. The check ins and conversations were just right with our waitress. She was so pleasant that we told her we’d be back next wk again. Great food. Corn beef hash was perfect. Ten out of ten I recommend.
Delightful little place that seems to be very popular with crowds of all ages. We were seated fairly quickly despite the bustling crowd. We ordered the Italian veg. Omelet, vegetarian sandwich, some appetizers, and coffee. The food was served piping hot, and the portions were generous. Loved the sandwich , it was flavorful, and everything was fresh. The coffee, however, was lacking in taste and strength. Everything else otherwise including the staff , service, and atmosphere, was great. The lively atmosphere tends to get a bit noisy, but it lends to the overall joyful ambiance.
Usually this place is great, food and service. However, we hadn't been in, in awhile and went this past weekend. There was an older waitress we got, that was very unpleasant. We changed tables before we even ordered. Going forward, I would make sure to be seated in a different waitress' serving area. Definitely wouldn't want her again. For a usually pleasant place to eat/service, don't need the grumpy to ruin our breakfast out.
On our continued hunt for a cheap and delicious breakfast place we found ourselves at Cafe Java. We’ve taken their coffee to go many times but never fully sat down so we were very excited. The restaurant does get packed very frequently so we put ourselves on the waitlist through Google. When we arrived we were seated immediately, skipping a line of 5+ parties (it pays to prepare). Upon sitting down we were greeted (kinda, not really) by our waitress who was very low energy and avoidant. She took our orders through a handheld device and didn’t lift her eyes up one time during the process. We ordered a corn beef hash platter, the French toast, and cinnamon rolls. Our food came out extremely quickly despite how busy the restaurant was which was nice to see. To sum the food up: it was not good. The corn beef hash tasted like they uncanned it and grilled it for 30 seconds before plating it. The hash browns were average, the eggs a bit below. The French toast was not good, lacking any flavor or real depth to the actual bread, as well as the bacon looked crispy but somehow was not. We had very high hopes for the cinnamon rolls but were met with the laziest excuse for one we have ever seen. The roll itself is large and coated with very little icing and a ton of strawberries (why???). It tasted like a hint of cinnamon and pretty much capped off what we were feeling about the food to that point anyway. Throughout our time there our server didn’t check on us once, not even to refill our cups of coffee. When it was time for the bill and to collect her tip was the only time she showed any real enthusiasm to come over. Maybe it was a series of unfortunate events, maybe it was an off day. Either way it’s safe to assume we will not be back to try Cafe Java out again.
Not worth the hype. Inexpensive but really long wait times. Mediocre food (burnt bacon and soggy toast). No itemized bill for some reason. Meh coffee. Once was enough.
It was terrible the food was bland chicken fried steak taste like burnt flour the sausage was salty. They somehow forgot n took forever to make me a basic black coffee. after I let the waitress know nicely about my food I still paid full price, $40 down the drain. N.i wasn't going to leave a review n I wasn'teven upset about my food THAT WAS UNTIL....the rude old lady with the salt n pepper hair who said "we don't have to ever come back." Jokes on u I won't I don't even live in this city. Our friends decided to take me n my husband out before he deployed. But my husband said the lemon blueberry pancakes were really good.
