Double Trouble Austin Reviews
In Austin there are a ton of places with great character and good drinks, many of which the city is known for but no one mentions Double Trouble. Double Trouble is the epitome of Austin TX. The drinks are great, the food is great, and most importantly the people are fantastic. I especially want to shout out Ash and Chelsea. Get some tacos, get some drinks and enjoy yourself.
Randomly stopped in while walking my dog. Fun neighborhood spot. Large selection of vegan options on the menu. They had electric jellyfish beer, my favorite. But I opted for a margarita to get with a really tasty chicken sandwich. Very quick service. Dog friendly spot, and saw a large brews and books group having fun ... And then a friendly bingo game broke out. Well definitely be back!
Big fan of Double Trouble! They have a huge patio in the back with lots of seating and they host events throughout the week. The coffee and food is great too. Service is knowledgeable and friendly. They have local gluten-free and vegan baked goods. Perfect neighborhood spot!
Looking for a new vegan restaurant, this place popped up on my search options. It's in a older part of Austin with a vintage feel to it but the restaurant has a cozy feel to it. Inside there is not a ton of seating but plenty out back. They have a lot of options and variety for vegan foods and they also have a good amount of vegan protein options too! The service is kinda quick and staff is friendly. Food is really good and flavorful. The rice came out nice and fluffy while the veggies came cooked crispy and my friend really likes the veggie burger. Will definitely try to come back and try the other foods. Only downside was the spicy diablo wasn't actually hot. Very flavorful but not hot
I hosted a non-profit group meetup here and it was a big hit with the attendees. To add to our amazing company, the drinks were delicious, the food tasty (vegan options, yesssss), and the atmosphere perfect 👌. Perfect place for our climate focused group… Definitely recommend!
A combination you can't go wrong with in an awesome space to hang out at any time of day. Great addition to the neighborhood! Update: Went for Friday late night time as well and the beer options were great, good spot for the coffee shop vibes at night
We went to Double Trouble with our toddler for a quick iced matcha. The atmosphere was the star of the show for sure. They have a great layout and plenty of seating. There is a covered outdoor play area for kids that’s very unique. My daughter didn’t want to leave! I didn’t get a chance to check out their food but will be back soon, probably for a mommy coffee date! Vanilla iced matcha was good as well.
I have no idea why I never came sooner! Their vegan chilaquiles is outstanding… just like what we had in Mexico City.. everything was delicious
Wonderful Tacos place. Never thought a simple Taco could be this great looking and simply tasty. Great place with grounded attire, great customer service, and simply superb place that you must check it out in Austin. We came here for lunch but I am very curious to come here during the night for a party time. I can just imagine it all.
Amazing place to hangout with family and friends. There is a play area outside for kiddos and lots of misters for the heat in the outside tables as well. Margaritas are really good, and there are TONS of vegan options! I just wished they had high chairs for the babes. And parking was easier.
Creative menu of tasty dishes and snacks. I enjoyed the barbacoa burrito and the steak burrito. They also have a couple of frozen drinks and Barrets coffee, Austin's best. Several great vintage shops are only a few steps away. There's street parking and more on adjacent streets.
Great chill spot for a Tues. nite watch party/ voter registration organizing meeting! Chips and salsa were good, and queso had great flavor. Vibe was so comfortable several of us stuck around for the comedy open mic, which I'm really glad I did. Feels great to be a part of a community & scene where free public performance is encouraged, welcomed, and nurtured in a both safe and high production quality environment. & E'erbody gotta start somewhere! (& The entire stage space at Double Trouble is quite gorgeous. Massive PROPS to your designers & decorators, y'all!) I was impressed by the comics' courageous authenticity in taking on sensitive personal subjects without going for cheap/ debasing reactions (mostly lol), and their tenacity in completing their sets despite sometimes lukewarm/ if not indiscernible feedback. The moderators were great at setting a warm tone at the outset, & keeping the action flowing and vibes high-- even when content became occasionally quite dark. Please make time to periodically get out there & support your local creatives in all domains, y'all! To my mind, the creative arts help us all by unblocking stagnant energy and creating "flow," in & among individuals, groups, and spaces-- literally making us all healthier, and planet Earth a better place, period. You gonna be so glad you did-- just like I am right now! 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
Great patio bar with delicious food, killer drinks (that frozen bee's knees is a heavy favorite or mine) and fun local events. I love coming here even if there's nothing scheduled, it's just a good spot to hang. Grab a bevy or a nice cup of coffee and enjoy yourself for a minute or two out back.
Double Trouble is one of my favorite spots in town. Chelsea is hands down the best bartender. She is always friendly quick and makes the night better. The frozen drinks are amazing and perfect for patio weather. Their patio is huge and such a great place to hang out. They have FAT breakfast tacos that hit the spot and a great vegan and vegetarian menu so there is something for everyone. They are always hosting random fun events which keeps things fresh and makes every visit a little different. Definitely a neighborhood staple worth checking out.
Double Trouble pleasantly surprised me with its vegan options. The dishes were fresh, well-balanced, and genuinely refreshing, making them a great choice even for non-vegans. It’s a spot worth visiting if you’re looking for flavorful plant-based options without feeling heavy afterward.
This place is great - indoor and outdoor seating, good food and sweet baristas. I've had several bad drinks here - like this afternoon, the matcha was chalky and thick and undrinkable. I asked if they'd replace it because it was obviously gross and they replaced it with an equally gross latte that I threw away - burned, fluffy, bubbly and they filled it 3/4 which is kind of insult to injury with a $10 drink. It seems like some of the baristas need training but otherwise this place rules.
Nice place with a great environment. Lots of different fun events going on all the time. The food is really good, I am hooked on their burrito and the food service is super quick and accurate. Their coffee is also tasty. The service can vary drastically though in my opinion. Some are AMAZING, nice and super friendly, helpful and attentive. Others are VERY rude, ignore you while you are standing in front of them waiting to order for quite some time, give rude answers and replies and outright unpleasant. Busy or not I dont think there is an excuse to act like that and you should not work in this type of industry. I am not a fan of that at all. Overall I really enjoy it here, but that will really ruin it for me every time it happens and why it's not 5.
This cozy café, with its charming patio seating and a tattoo parlor nestled in the backyard, offers a unique vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere. The drink menu is a highlight, featuring fun coffee and cocktail options that cater to a variety of tastes. I had the Touch Grass- matcha with cinnamon and honey- and it tasted divine. While I'm not vegan, I had heard great things about their vegan tacos, so I decided to try "The Twins" and "El Rey Tofish." To my surprise, the flavors were reminiscent of familiar fast-food favorites—The Twins had a taste strikingly similar to Taco Bell, while El Rey Tofish reminded me of McDonald’s fish sandwich. Initially, I found it a bit underwhelming, but upon reflection, I see the appeal: these dishes offer a satisfying vegan alternative when you’re craving that fast-food fix you might otherwise miss. It’s not gourmet dining, or authentic taco flavors, but for those moments when you want comfort food with a twist, it hits the spot.
This place has such a great thing going. The coffee is so good, and the patio is such an awesome place to hang out and work. But there is a barista I have had the last couple of times that has completely turned me off to this place. He acts confused as to why you're even walking up to the counter to order something, and then acts extremely annoyed to have to get a drip coffee for you. It is so uncalled for and disappointing. I work in the area and want to frequent this spot but I can't because this one guy has really been ruining the vibe for me lately.
The beef smash burger is not a smash burger. It tastes like it was frozen. The patty was dry, mealy, and bland. It was drenched in mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. The French fries had a nice spice kick but completely lacked salt. I asked for salt and they told me they didn’t have any salt. That makes sense.
