Izumi Sushi Austin Reviews
The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the chicken portion was generous.
Hubs and I were in an unfamiliar area an hour away from home and needed a late lunch. So glad to have found Izumi! Hubs says best sushi since we moved in 2019 What they did with the flavors had us wanting to order more even though we were full Nigiri Medley was so fresh and flavors were distinct and well played I loved the Westlake Hill Roll with its cucumber wrap. Didn’t use soy bc the sauce they used was perfect The Mint Tree literally made me moan with happiness. The crab was freshly fried, the roll tight even with the various ingredients, and they worked so well together! Our hands down, have to come back, need to recommend to others roll was the Tropical Breeze Roll. Hubs doesn’t usually do mango in his sushi but he made sure he got half of this roll!! So amazing. Ambiance was good, family-friendly, bar seen in the background even. Server was attentive and quick to clear the table as we moved through our selections. An hour from home, but we will come here again.
Recently I visited Izumi Sushi in the Westlake Hills neighborhood of Austin, Texas for dinner at 6pm on a Wednesday. The place was packed - I got the last table for two; although, by 7pm many of the customers had cleared out. The menu is extensive and includes traditional sushi fare along with some specials, like the Longhorn roll. The Longhorn roll containts Shrimp tempura, yamagobo, cucumber, spicy white fish, topped with tempura flakes, spicy mayo, eel sauce & masago and is actually shaped like the Texas Longhorns logo! Additionally, it is DELICIOUS. Definitely the highlight of the meal for me. There is plenty of free parking in the shopping complex, which also includes the Westlake HEB, Chick-Fil-A and P Terry's.
Great little spot for some good Japanese food. The bento boxes are awesome, and they come with just a little bit of everything if you're undecided on what you'd like. It comes with some miso soup, gyoza, veggie tempura, a California roll, rice, and a protein. The Chicken Katsu and the Red Snapper Katsu are flavorful and very crispy. Their Avalanche sushi roll was also very good, and it has some jalapeño with a nice kick to it. They have a short selection of beer, but they offer stuff like Kirin Ichibon and Sapporo on draft. They're about as pricey as other sushi places, but their lunch specials have a nice discount, and they offer the same bento boxes and some sushi combinations. Definitely recommend this place for lunch or a nice quiet dinner.
Local favorite for take out or dine in. Nice selections of beers and wines with fresh selection of sashimi and sushi dishes. Fun combos with locally featured names. Amazing wine pours. Kiss The Fire comes out literally on fire.
To-go order: I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba lunch special online for pick up. The order was ready at the indicated pick up time. Staff were friendly. The flavor is stupendous. The noodles are light and bouncy and hold the sauce wonderfully. Loved the big chunks of red pepper and carrots. Definitely returning for lunch again.
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Their food is superior, the atmosphere is cosy yet lively, they're reasonably priced, and our waiter, Alexander, I can't say enough about. He was above top notch...AWESOME!!! Every restaurant should have a waiter like him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND DINING HERE!!!
Really, really great service. We sat at the sushi bar and it did not disappoint!

Visited during their happy hour and really enjoyed the selection. Felt like all you can eat sushi and the price wasn’t inflated like many other sushi restaurants but I’d highly going during happy hour to stretch your dollar and tummy further! Appetizers were appetizing and delivered on time. Wait staff was present and kind. I’m overall pleased with my visit.
Izumi Sushi is a solid choice for a casual meal. I tried their Boat A, which offered a nice variety, but the sushi wasn’t the best I’ve had—some pieces felt a bit lacking in flavor. However, the Chicken Teriyaki bento box was a standout; the chicken was tender and flavorful, paired nicely with rice, miso soup, and some other stuff. The udon noodles were also a highlight, with a delicious, hearty broth. While the sushi could use some improvement, the overall experience was enjoyable, and the bento and noodles definitely make it worth a visit.
Great place to have some sushi. They also have other Asian dishes.
It was pretty busy. Service and food were good. We didn't do hibachi. Just got a few rolls and hot Saki
They had a pretty tree painted on the wall and part of the ceiling. The food was yummy, but the service was slow. I recommend coming when you're not in a hurry.

Food was good but our appetizers did not show up until we leave. There is an unpleasant smell, more like burnt oil, when you step in the restaurant. Bathrooms were pretty bad, floors were wet and sink was dirty.
Maybe I need to stop ordering sushi on UberEats, but I got sushi from this place and was vastly disappointed. Rolls were absolutely nothing special and kinda started to taste the same. Again, it was takeout.. but still. Nothing special. Included is a sad picture of me eating it on my bed.

Service was good and food arrived quickly. The atmosphere was nice, relaxed and not too loud. However the food was disappointing. I ordered a dragon roll and a shrimp tempura roll for $25. They were both very bland with little flavor. The rice for the shrimp tempura role was unpleasantly warm, and the rice was barely sticky. I wouldn’t come back or recommend to friends.

We ordered salmon teriyaki on the kid’s menu and it came with a broken porcelain tray in contact with food. Our concern was some broken pieces could mix with the rice and the kid swallowed it. We brought this to the female waiter and she shrugged and said “I will get you a new one.” Feeling disappointed, as we frequent Thai restaurant a lot and this is how they treat the loyal customers. No apologies whatsoever.
What a ripoff!!!! Pic is what a $19 combo fried rice looks like. Apple remote for scale, the phili roll is tiny, everything is extremely over priced just because its in Westlake. What a joke. Placed order on their website and it auto gratuity’ed me $19.73 for a pickup order, no option to customize my tip. I don’t care if you have all the money in the world and live in a mansion in westlake, you are being ripped off!!!! Will never come here again. Also had a rubber band in my calamari. This was our first time trying this place so i ordered $145.45 of random assorted items, the whole order, weighed less than 4 pounds including to go containers. Steer clear if you want quality and refuse to be treated like a checkbook as a customer.
