Don't let it's location and size deceive you. These tacos are legit and the salsas are fresh. When you see laborers pile in during lunch and dinner hours you know you're at the right place for authentic tacos.

Yaaas, real deal. The guy is super friendly and will recommend the best for you. I wanted to try different tacos and his selection was delicious. $8.50 for 5 tacos? Heck yeah!!! They are the smaller size with small double corn tortilla (the way you get it in Mexico). They also have flour tortilla if you'd like. They also had tortas and quesadillas and other stuff that I have yet to try.

Being from the valley the name of the place attracted my attention. The spices are right and tacos are as good as their going to get being away from the valley. I recommend giving them a try, I had their tacos de bistec and was not disappointed. Staff was friendly and they have a outside dine in section with a covered patio and picnic tables.

I have been coming to eat at Tacos Matamoros for several years now and LOVE the barbacoa gorditas and the nopalitos. It would not be as delicous without the little grease. Will keep recommending to all my family and friends.

The gringas are my go to here used to work down the street and go for lunch a couple times a week. Forsure worth the stop if you’re hungry and passing by

I got the Gordita for $4 and was pleased. Bistek, avocado, lettuce Tomato and cheese with a nice selection of roasted peppers jalapeños and sauces at the salsa bar. Nice size gordita for four dollars authentic

Our company has moved into the area where this little restaurant is. I was very hungry and wanted breakfast tacos. I felt like a Mexican convenience store woud have a taco counter in it so I stopped here. The counter was attached to it and I have to say it was really good! I just had simple breakfast tacos and they were so good and fresh. Their menu is pretty large so if you can explore then you should. They have a small salsa bar that's hits the spot. The service was great and they were really nice. There are a few tables but I don't see myself eating there as people are in and out constantly. I'll definitely be back.

Well, the tacos never made it past the parking lot! I meant to bring some home for my boyfriend and ended up eating his too 🤭 the meat wasn't greasy and the flavor was on point! They have a Mexican salad bar with deliciously hot salsa and mix of veggies in lime that go perfectly with the tacos. Plus, when I ordered my tacos for 2 people they only took like 5-7min to make. I was impressed with the speed, the quality, and the friendliness of this place!

Fireeee tortas. I had a chicken torta and let me tell you it was the most delicious torta of my entire life. They are also very fast and the lady at the front was nice too lol. The tables aren’t clean and the salsa is like self serve and it can get messy but idccc the food is just too good 3 people ate good for around 20ish dollars. My fiancé and mil ate the gorditas and they said they were also really good so I def recommend!!!

This place was pointed out to me by a local person, after I told her that we've visited several Mexican restaurants and still hadn't found one with good food. She hesitated when I asked her what was her favorite restaurant. She said it wasn't fancy but the food was good. Let me tell you the tacos are good, she's right the place is nothing fancy but if you're after a good taco and a bomb salsa this is your place. The lady in the evening cooks so good. We also visited one time for lunch and the tacos and salsa wasn't as good as in the evening. ( different cooks)

Really good hole in the wall. As this taco shop has a butcher shop smell of all ready cut up meat's still my pastor and bisteak taco and cost is pretty good. Definitely a good hidden gem.

If you prefer good food over fancy atmosphere, eat here. Texas has a knack for great tacos from places attached to convenience stores, and this is no exception. The gorditas are large. Try one with cheese; it's grilled. Then have some tacos al pastor. Not because you're still hungry, but because they're delicious.

Oooh....I really like this place. Super authentic, great food, huge variety of ingredients and a very friendly staff make this hole in the wall a great side trip up to North Lamar. They have a a few nice salsas to choose from done well, as well as charred jalapenos and pickled veggies if you like. I really recommend this one! Enjoy!

PORFAVOR!!!! PLEASE BRING THE OLD COOK BACK!!! I have been going to yall for over 20 years and have never been disappointed til now. It's not the same! The tortillas r not fried and crispy anymore for the tacos, they mess up the "Los Especiales". The beans are flavorless, I'm so sad it made me cry 😢 that yall have changed the people.

Overall I would not come here for eating the best tacos. Maybe for a drunk night craving but would avoid if you want value, as well as cleanliness. I got a really nice, hot gordita lengua and it was alright. I didn't enjoy my meal after finding out that it also partially melted the cheap styrofoam plates they serve it on. The salsa bar is alright until you've got to notify them that one of the salsas have rotted and makes its own bubbles. Skip this place for those wanting to eat good food during the day. Update: got the runs...

Been coming here for 3 yrs never had any problems but tonight, place to-go order got home & realized I didn’t receive 2 tacos the other 2 tacos didn’t receive anything in it, no food, JUST TORTILLA. angry only cause they were for the kids & also I tipped $10. I went back & got a 50% refund because I kept the burritos & gave back The tortillas on the plate & got back my $10 tip for having to drive back in the rain. The whole time the lady was smiling like it was funny to waste my time. Unacceptable.
