The Tigress Austin Reviews
I’ve only been once but this bar has the best atmosphere in the area. Far more elevated than the other bars on N Loop and it’s not significantly more expensive. The decor is nice and feels authentic and not calculated. The drinks felt worth the cost (which is not high compared to downtown and they are really very elevated especially the house cocktails.) extensive NA menu as well as some cheaper “low abv%” drinks of which I got one and it was not that low! I had the cocchi Chanel which was INCREDIBLE — herb infused vermouth it tasted like tea but with agua faba instead of egg whites which was kind of genius. Also tried the mojito and Irish coffee… pretty good. What won me over is you can get a plate of fresh cut veggies to snack on for $5 which made me feel like I’m at a granola mom’s house. I will return many time. Our bartenders name was travers and he was very patient with our questions and very talented. Sage is the GOAT
Stopped by for a drink, I got their fancy feast punch, it’s so yummy! Great atmosphere, great bartender!
This is a fantastic spot. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent stuff all around.
Tigress is very much a place that will give you vibes like you're in the show "Cheers." As an Austin local, I can say that of all the craft cocktail bars in Austin, Tigress is still hands-down at the top of my list. The seasonal menu of cocktails never disappoints and old favorites like "Fancy Feast" will always hit the spot without being too overpowering. It's a great place for an intimate date night or a spot to catch up with 1-2 friends you haven't seen in a while. Even better, if you get there early, you can support all the other small businesses on the North Loop strip.
Such an awesome bar! I love how they have low ABV cocktails for those times when you aren’t seeking a buzz but still want the complex flavor of amaro, apertifs, etc This feels like a very “classic Austin” spot I want to walk up and down the street because there are some cool vintage and record/movie stores, too
Absolutely DELICIOUS cocktails. Blew me away!! The bartenders are super friendly and inviting. Vibes are good and loved the charming backyard courtyard!
One of the best cocktail programs in town paired with a super friendly and creative staff. What a great hidden little gem that focuses on their crafts which are cocktails, service, and probably witchcraft? Chill, comfortable spot with obviously the most amazing regulars in town and fewer real tigers than you'd expect. Also there's a patio. Perfect place for happy hour, a date, or to drink 25 sazeracs.
The best neighborhood bar. Amazing cocktails! No, seriously.. the cocktails here are hand crafted and has their creators name attached! Really chill vibe and funky interiors. I have been going here for years! Welcome to north loop 😄
Came by with my wife to kill an hour before eating at Foreign & Domestic. It's a cute place with a nice sitting area out back to go with the inside atea. We ordered some pimento cheese w French crostinis and pickled vegetables to eat with our drinks. My wife enjoyed an N/A equivalent of an aperol spritz ehile I had a bourbon sour w bitters that was pretty tasty. The salt on the crostinis and strongly pickled veggies paired perfectly. Nice music--mellow--played in the background and our bartender was friendly and very helpful identifying my drink choice. Happy Hour had some great deals, too. We'll be back.
This "hole in the wall" bar/pub has great tasting, unique drinks as well as some of the traditional favorites. It is small and easy to miss, so keep your eyes open when looking for it. The bar tender was super friendly.
I didn’t know I could be so smitten, so quickly with a bar. This place is the quintessential neighborhood pub. It’s small, not loud (music is set low) so you can have a conversation, it’s well-lit so you can see who you’re talking to, and it’s just so damn welcoming. I don’t even drink! My wife had a drink and I had a water and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. It’s just a great spot to unwind and have a good conversation.
This place is a gem, I can’t believe I’ve never been here. The cocktails are amazing, normal cocktail prices so it’s not cheap but if ya want cheaper cocktails you can go next door. The green drink is truly delicious, every single flavor mentioned in the drink description can actually be tasted in the drink. Literally, it’s a perfect description, sometimes they list ingredients and you can’t taste a thing, not with this drink. The Oh Yoko is boozy but not overwhelmingly so and the Ides of March is a grappa drink I can actually consume. I normally HATE GRAPPA, but the bartender called me out for talking smack about Grappa and told me to try this cocktail and to my surprise it was drinkable. Overall the prices are reasonable, the ambiance is nice for a date OR to just go on your own, the other customers at the bar were friendly and the bartender could banter with the best of them. Highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back again
They serve great, classic and interesting cocktails. It has a very casual atmosphere. They are always playing classic movies on the tv without sound which is nice background. It is a small place and has only ever had one bartender working when I've been, so you may have to wait a couple of minutes for service. However, the bartender clearly knows cocktails because they always carefully craft them and they're great!
Fun spot! Drinks were good and staff was friendly. Wish they kept up more with their seasonal menu. Would have liked to see more drinks with fall spices. Not much for snacks which is why we didn’t stay longer. What I picked was really good though! Would recommend this spot!
Their cocktails tasted a little weird, like the balance wasn’t quite right… for the price, I would go to DrinkWell
Been once before. Was a nice little spot. Tried to go twice over the past few months, but went 10 mins after their opening time online, door unlocked but as we walked in we’re told they will be opening late.
I've been a North Loop patron for all of my adult life and have been a regular here since returning to Austin in 2021. There's a very good reason that the Tigress has a 4.7/5 rating, but when I was in last night I had an experience I could only consider as a fast-food experience. The barback took my order, wrote it on a pad and paper and did not enter it into the machine, but ran my card for a tab and told me "it will be right out." I was already in line for more than 5 minutes and the line was into the dining room, which is not atypical or disqualifying, but the service was critically slow, and I'm confident they were short staffed for a Saturday evening on a day with nice weather, so sure, I'll let that pass. But I was asked to get out of line and just ... hang out in the bar space? The bartender then took two orders after I gave the person at the register my order, so when a seat opened at the bar, I sat down to wait. Bartender asked me "So, you're sitting at the bar?" and I had no context for how to respond to that so said "yeah, I ordered a drink already, do you have it?" to which he said no and sassed me with a "I can't make an 'I already ordered,' what do you want?" I got my drink and a brief lecture I did not pay for and went outside. I've loved the Tigress, and I will continue to be back, but I've never had such a critically weird bar experience where I wait (a long time) in line to put in an order, then they don't bring the drink? And they ask me to just float around until the bartender gets to it, while serving other customers? And why was it not in the system? Like, I watched the two of them interact and there was no point where the register told the bartender what she was entering for him to make. Also, the register was telling people to go back to their seats and they would bring the drink to them? It's not a restaurant, it's a pub. The way that should go, and has always gone for me is A) wait in line. B) order at the bar. C) wait at the bar until your drink comes. D) move on with your life. If the service is good, repeat until you close your tab. I don't tend to feel the need to write reviews for places I go regularly, but if this is how the operations are going to run, there needs to be some fundamental changes about how management runs their house. Love the owner's philosophy, the space, and the cocktails, but yesterday evening was so far beyond normal that I felt compelled to discuss it. Other patrons, including the friend who came to join me, had similar issues and were on the back patio talking about what the hell was going on. This is not typical. Radically odd. Will update my review when this is addressed.
I live in the north loop neighboorhood and love all my bars on this strip. I came in there for the first time saturday night in a great mood, with a friend, and was met by a very over it bartender. She refused service claiming that I was too drunk, which I have never heard in all my 10 years as an over 21 adult. I tried to talk with her to figure out why she was so grumpy because I love chatting with the bartenders wherever I go (she was not having it) Then proceeded to pour the shots reluctantly and even put the two her and her manager did on my tab. When I reached out to them to see why my tab had been so high, the manager emailed me a reciept that didnt match what I ordered, and told me to take it up with my bank and never come back. Aside from this unprofessionalism, this bar isnt great by any stretch, vibes are so off and the staff... sucks.
