Wholy Bagel Austin Reviews
If you're a bagel snob, this is the place. The bagels are made like they're supposed to be, and taste like it. The bagels sandwiches are top notch, with one qualification: Wholy Bagel, please put an option in the online ordering menu for "Cream cheese on the side" - the bagel sandwiches (particularly if toasted) tend to smoosh apart when you attempt to eat them when the cream cheese is in them. But the smooshy mess is still delicious.
Best bagel sandwich in Austin. Toasted everything bagel with egg, Taylor ham, garlic aioli, and pepper jack cheese. Hits the spot every time.
So early in the morning and a cheery staff were busy setting the tone of the day. Placed my order easily and was out the door in 5 minutes! Delicious Bacon, egg and cheese on an Asagiago bagel. Made the beginning of a road trip really comfortable for me.
i've been to new york city once and honestly i floundered so thank god these bagels are here. the cream cheese is displayed like fancy gelato - my fav is the angry texan. my sandwich order is an everything bagel with cheddar cheese and taylor ham. my advice? don't be afraid to mix sweet and savory bagel and cream cheese flavors.....
Not sure why this place only has a 4.4 rating — it deserves higher. There was a line out the door when I arrived, but they still had me in and out in just 4 minutes. The staff were working hard and keeping everything moving smoothly. Big thanks to the team — may your business continue to grow and thrive!
This is my first time ordering from their catering menu and it was simple, easy, and quick. The quality of their bagels is unmatched - ample amount of options to choose from and very fresh. I ordered the Texas dozen and if you place an order over the phone they'll let you select the mix of bagels. I also have to give them a shoutout on their coffee - the medium Columbian roast is delicious; I typically take my coffee black, so I can taste the bold flavors. Overall a great experience, will definitely return for personal and professional events.
I had a great experience at this café that specializes in breakfast, bagels, and sandwiches. The location is convenient, and the outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying a meal. Even though there was quite a line, the staff worked efficiently, and we were served surprisingly fast. We opted for the bagels and loved the concept of building our own. There was a wide variety of options to choose from, and the result was absolutely delicious. The bagels themselves were fresh and flavorful, and the ingredients were of high quality. We were really happy with our meal. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. Great service, delicious food, and a nice atmosphere – definitely worth a visit!
This is a small shop, so if you're going expect limited seating. Especially if you catch them during a rush. With that out of the way, the food is fantastic. One of the best breakfast/ brunch bagels you'll find in Austin. We had the Philly and a custom bagel with pastrami and corned beef, Muenster cheese, avocado and jalapeños. Both with their signature Angry Texas cream cheese. Excellent. I'm writing this review from the countertop seating as I debate which cream cheese I'm going to take to go.
The absolute BEST bagels you'll find anywhere in Austin! High quality ingredients and high quality service. The Hill country Pecan Roast coffee is to DIE for. I love it here so much! Affordable, and incredibly delicious. Not much seating; a wall bar, two tables and two outside, most people seem to get it as takeout or mobile orders, but me and my partner enjoy sitting inside, it's all New York inside and reminds me of a little slice of home.
Overall, pretty smackin. Got the nova lox on an everything bagel & was pleased w/the freshness & generous amount of cream cheese. The bagels could have been a lil softer, but I also wasn't there first thing in the morning. Great service, too. They were killing it with the insane amount of orders they had!
I love this place. Always come to get my fix for the closest possible NYC lox bagel and cream cheese. They have a wide selection of bagels and spreads. Be sure to ask them to toast your bagel if you want it that way! And can order it with extra cream cheese as well. But they do give you a generous portion. The Salt bagel is also amazing.
A few other places in town are maybe a little more fancy, but here you'll get no fuss, consistent, delicious bagels. That's all that matters if you're looking for a good NY bagel experience. We usually get the lox and a bacon-egg-cheese bagel. They're cooking the hot bagel sandwiches on the spot, so on the weekend order ahead or be prepared to wait some at peak hours. It's so worth the wait though. Delicious fried eggs, CRISPY bacon and gooey cheddar cheese. They do not take bacon for granted and that's part of their secret sauce here. Frankly there are breakfast places in town who serve bacon and can't even make it crispy... Thanks to the Wholy team for cooking and assembling each ingredient with care! Your bagels never disappoint.
I've been coming here for a while now and like always, great customer service and great bagels. I usually only get a Nova Lox with everything bagel for $8.99. My fiance gets the everything bagel with lox cream cheese for $3.99. You can get tomato and capers for a little extra. It is equally good. I'll be coming back for sure.
Great breakfast sandwiches. Long waits on weekends so call order in to avoid waiting. Best bagels I’ve had since moving to Austin. Small location.
Good, but I'm from NJ and a bagel snob. I love the menu! Its of choices and very similar to a NJ breakfast sandwich. Some unique items too. Will go back
Ordered two bagels, neither of which needed anything cooked—just cream cheese, sliced meat, and veggies. It was a Monday at 1045 am, so not at all a busy time. Took over twenty minutes to get those bagels while people that came in after us came and went with their orders. When we finally got home with our bagels, one of them wasn’t even the correct order, though the order slip was correct (jalapeño cheddar bagel and cream cheese, was given sliced cheese and a plain bagel). Frustrating experience. Been to the north Wholy Bagel many times and always had a wonderful experience there!
Went in for a bagel on Sunday about 25 mins before close. When I stood by the register for about a minute before anyone even made eye contact with me, then a shorter hispanic girl told me "we close soon" I asked if It would be okay if I could place my order and she scoffed and said "do you want me to be honest with you" and proceeded to tell me that its disrespectful to order so close to closing time. I was the only person in there, everything had already been shut down, chairs put up. If I ever addressed a customer like that during my time of working in food service, I would have been fired. Unfortunately if you are in a bad mood you gotta fake it for the customer, or go find a job you enjoy. I make it a point to stop at Wholy Bagel everytime im in Austin but... won't be returning if shes still there. Learn some manners.
I don't expect perfection but my bagel was SO stale, my husband's too. It was like throwing money away. And we have a good tip too.
Just use a sticker or write on the foil which one is the veggie patty. Especially if you change the recipe, we couldn't figure out which one is which or if you messed up, because none of the bagels had the patty we are used to. Won't come back! Edit: Figured out that I got the veggie sausage patties (2) even though I ordered the veggie patty and therefore had trouble figuring out what's meat and what is veggie. Please mark them - that would help...
I watched the employee making my bagel, and when she finished, she whipped it behind her with such force that it slammed into the back counter, completely smashing it. I pointed this out to another worker, but they clearly couldn’t have cared less and didn’t offer to remake it or apologize. When I opened the bagel, it was totally flattened and ruined. It seems this kind of deliberate mistreatment of food and indifference toward customers is acceptable at Wholy Bagel, unfortunately.
