VIPS Badajoz Reviews
Splendid food and exquisite service. Very good food, very well served. We arrived after 3:30 p.m. We ordered two club sandwiches. It was an uneven time; we arrived as many people were leaving and several of us were arriving. There was only a handful of staff for all the orders: one manager, two other waiters, and another who seemed to have been there for a short time and was given minor tasks. We were in a hurry and felt very well looked after. We asked for them to hurry up, and they listened to us. The staff was very busy, but we saw that they knew how to work as a team, everyone doing everything, supporting and reinforcing each other where needed. Congratulations to all the staff!
Being a VIPS restaurant in a shopping mall, it's recommended to go early for lunch or dinner, or to make a reservation. We arrived at 1:30 pm and there were tables available, but within half an hour there was already a queue to get in. We ordered gyozas and patatas bravas to start our meal, and without a doubt, the gyozas were delicious. For our main courses, we ordered a salad (there was some left over, and they gave us a container to take with us) and a Cachopower, which was very tasty and well-made. We didn't order dessert as we were already quite full. The waiters were very friendly and attentive at all times, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed.
We have visited other restaurants of the Vips brand and usually enjoy them, but this one in Badajoz was disappointing. Despite the restaurant not being full, we had to wait a long time, and the food arrived rather cold. Because of that, we wouldn’t want to repeat the experience. On the positive side, the menu is very good, with a wide variety of options for both adults and children, from main dishes to desserts.
Bad service
The first time we went, we really enjoyed it, so much so that we returned, but yesterday we didn't have the same experience. They didn't have the lemonade listed on the menu. We wanted to order the salmon again, which we loved the first time, but this time it was missing some of the ingredients that give the dish its balance. We complained and they tried to fix it, but by then the salmon was cold; it lacked its usual spark and we were less enthusiastic about it. We would have appreciated being informed when we ordered that they didn't have the ingredients to prepare the dish. Also, the potato sauce is very spicy, and the previous time it was served separately, but this time it was poured over the potatoes, so some were extremely spicy and the sauce didn't reach the ones underneath. This was resolved correctly, though. The service was friendly throughout, but we would have appreciated more transparency.
We went for dinner, and my partner enjoyed his burger. However, my Waikiki salad was very bland; it lacked cashews, sesame seeds, and red onion, and had barely any sauce. The meat was dry and sparse, tasteless. They only offered to add sauce at the very end, and the salad was so bland and tasteless that I didn't eat anything else (it was like eating spaghetti and a salad packet at the same time). At 14 euros and something, I feel ripped off. Not one apology, even though they supposedly spoke to the chef. I won't be back.
Terrible service. There are no professional waiters, just young people trying to make some extra money. The waits are awful, the lack of attention is appalling, and today's head waitress was rude. We've been customers for years, and fewer and fewer of us are coming back, and after today's experience, I hope I never return. At least not to the one in Badajoz. It took 45 minutes from ordering to receiving the food and another 20 minutes for dessert. The woman in black was also very rude.
The food was cold (the steak was straight from the fridge; it looked like they'd cooked it beforehand). I mentioned this. They brought it after 25 minutes, and instead of being cold, it was lukewarm. Anyway, you leave feeling like a fool after having eaten badly and spending 20 euros per person.
Long queue despite having empty tables. It took two hours from when we walked in until we were served, and even then, not everyone was served at the same time. The salad was poor for €15. They refill drinks for the same price, but we had to insist and even take our glasses to the bar. We wasted the whole afternoon. In the end, we left hungry.
We've been there for dinner before, since we were going to the lighthouse and it was fine. But this weekend we went and it was the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. We ordered one of their famous sandwiches, and they brought us a hamburger that they claimed we had ordered. I asked the waitress to check the order to confirm it was a sandwich, and she came back a second time with the hamburger, saying we had ordered it. It was pathetic. Well, after 45 minutes, they brought us the sandwich cold, ice-cold. We told them it was cold, and they brought us another one. After a while, we were finally able to finish what could have been a pleasant meal. Very bad service and no coordination. We won't be back.
The food and service were quite good… But the service and the dining atmosphere were terrible. The cutlery (especially the knives) was dirty. We asked the staff to change them (twice) and they were still dirty… The waiters were running around like headless chickens. We were eating upstairs in a very dimly lit area (like you'd take a nap). We politely asked the waiters several times to turn on the lights… and apparently they couldn't find the switch. It was awful eating in those conditions.
The service at this restaurant leaves much to be desired. Firstly, you always have to wait outside until they let you in and assign you a table (even if they see there's a queue, they don't care, you just have to wait there). And then getting served is another story; the waitresses don't even respond, even if they walk right past you and you're talking to them. They were out of napolitanas on a Saturday… (?) I don't understand it either. There were only about four or five tables occupied in the whole restaurant, but even so, it took them 40 minutes to bring three coffees with milk. We said we needed an ice cream and a ham and cheese croissant. We waited an hour for a croissant, finally asking them to cancel it, and when they brought the ice cream, they threw a plastic spoon at us and said it was the only spoon they had left. This has happened to me three times now, and I insist, the staff's attitude is appalling, and the service is about as fast as a procession in Seville. I won't be back.
One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We arrived to find a sign saying "please wait to be served." We waited for over 10 minutes, and although the waitresses kept walking by, none of them paid any attention to us until we finally decided to go in. We sat down at the table, and it took 50 minutes for the main courses to arrive. A plate of six gyozas took over 30 minutes and was cold (like everything else we ordered). My partner was sitting right in front of the kitchen, and literally, freshly made dishes take more than 10 minutes to be cleared. My partner ordered teriyaki beef cheeks with sweet potato, and after a whopping 50 minutes, it arrived cold with raw sweet potatoes. She sent it back to the kitchen, and it took another 20 minutes to bring her another plate with cooked sweet potatoes, but still cold. It was appalling. On the other hand, I ordered spaghetti carbonara Soria, and it was served cold, stuck together, and practically tasteless, after I had waited the same amount of time as my partner. The service also left much to be desired. There were arguments between the staff, they were blaming each other and shouting in front of the customers. To make matters worse, one of them was laughing at the customers' complaints, since she was at the bar and could hear everything they were saying. The whole experience was very unpleasant, and we certainly don't recommend it and won't be returning.
Not at all recommended. Two people with celiac disease had dinner a week ago. We ordered nachos for starters and a hamburger and chicken with rice for main course. The nachos didn't arrive at the table, so they brought the main courses instead. The hamburger bun was two months old, and the chicken on the other plate was so tough it was inedible. The orange sodas they brought us were bad, so we swapped them for Coca-Cola, and they charged us for four instead of two sodas.
