This restaurant felt like home! I remembered going as a child and decided to revisit as an adult on my trip to Baltimore. Everything about Sabatinos was fantastic. The atmosphere feels like your in your Italian grandparents house. The staff were extremely friendly and even though we showed up a half hour before our reservation they seated us right away. Service here was so quick, but it didn't at all feel rushed! Our waitress Linda brought us fresh water and continued to keep our water roped off through the meal. We ordered a cherry lime soda cocktail and a white sangria to start. The cherry lime soda was incredible It tasted like a rich black cherry soda extremely refreshing. The sangria was equally refreshing and they seem to have a VERY LARGE selection of wine. Linda brought us bread as well and the bread was massive, soft and clearly fresh. We placed our order for Tortellini in the tortellini sauce and eggplant Parmesan. The food came out before I could finish my first slice of bread! Oh my goodness I can't explain how deeply delicious and rich with flavor the tortellini sauce was with peas carrots mushrooms it. The tortellini itself was so delicious and the portion was massive! The eggplant Parmesan was also phenomenal and came with a side of pasta. On our reservation we noted it was our anniversary and before we left they surprised us with a brownie and candle and wished us a happy anniversary! This meal truly made our trip worth it and I will absolutely be coming back!
The food here is impeccably delicious. There is a unique, old-school flavor here that reminds me of all the traditional restaurants I've visited in Italy. This is by far one of the best in the area. My table had their clams and handmade pastas. Thr serving size is very generous. There are many seats available, music in the background is soothing, and the service was outstanding. Everything was topnotch and pleasant. Highly recommended.
First time trying Sabatinos and really liked everything. It has the feel of an old time Italian restaurant. The service was great. The food was delicious. I had the chicken parmigiana. It was cooked perfectly! the fettuccine was a great consistency and the red sauce was fresh, vibrant, and balanced. One of the best marinara sauces I’ve ever tried. Couldn’t have been a better experience!
Excellent place for authentic Italian. Wine and desserts were excellent as well.
Sabatino’s is a true classic! From what I’ve heard, this family-owned restaurant has been around for over 70 years—and it’s easy to see why. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and full of charm. I had the rigatoni with grilled chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. The portion size was just right—not too small, not overwhelming. I actually surprised myself by finishing the entire plate—it was that good! A big shoutout to Diane, my server, who was an absolute gem. She was kind, attentive, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. With a menu that looks as tempting as this one, I’ll definitely be coming back to try more. Highly recommend Sabatino’s if you’re looking for a memorable meal in a truly special place.
We were sat right away. Alex was a phenomenal server! The wine was perfect, the food super yummy. The canola which we didn’t need—superb! Highly recommend!
Old-fashioned restaurant. I have been coming here for 10 years. Staff are nice and helpful. Food tastes exactly the same. Finally we have to have a shirt hahaha. Give them a try!!
We had a great experience at Sabatino’s. Service was very prompt and friendly. Enjoyed the shrimp Parmesan as well as the chicken Alfredo. The chocolate mousse cake for dessert was great. The bread was slightly below average for an Italian restaurant like this. The restaurant had a true Italian feel. We would definitely be happy to return!
The veal parmigiana was delicious, with a perfect tomato sauce and truly authentic spaghetti. Very generous portion!”
I came here for dinner with my husband and 4 year old, who can be picky. They had a kids menu, which was great and she loved the chicken fingers and fries. The gnocchi was so fresh and delicious. Everything came out quickly and tasted wonderful. The service was so friendly and everyone was helpful and accommodating. It was so nice to have an authentic Italian meal in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
for those of you who are looking for the full Baltimore experience remember to always treat local places nicely, these people work hard at what they do, keeping in that in mind this place was a wonderful find today when I went in with some close friends it started brilliantly we got into a conversation in the door with someone who is Italian I only wish I spoke this wonderful language we decided to go here for an early dinner. There are such a variety of places to sit in this home feeling spaced you are seated almost immediately as friendly smiles. Getting to the food. A few things. To start the food was absolutely amazing!! I would eat it every day if I could. I wish I could have tried more but for reasons I was unable to. The garlic bread was I would have to say as someone who enjoys food one of the best I have ever had. But what did seem a little odd was how quickly the food came out. But this could have been because it wasn't busy yet. The experience was superb and I hope I am fortunate to go again one day soon. Highly recommend for a special night out for anyone. In addition for people who don't feel safe in the city. I am one of those people this place have me such a home kind of space I feel right into ease and I hope those reading this will as well. Enjoy!
Fabulous experience! Employees were efficient friendly and attentive. Food was beyond excellent. Atmosphere was quaint , relaxing, and homey.
Always excellent food and service. Been a loyal patron since 1986.
Been going here for years. Local favorite. The baked Gnocchi was amazing.
High quality Italian food in Little Italy with prompt, friendly service at a reasonable price. Parking was a challenge. Recommend researching the parking well in advance with one way streets in mind. It's worth the trip, though.
The food was amazing! The portions were huge and The mocktails were great as well. Overall it was good we got an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 veggies & 2 desserts for less than 100$ so that wasn't bad & definitely worth it! Service was on point our waiter was honest and beautiful. It's a nice homey feeling like dining at your grandparents home for dinner.
Great place for a larger family reunion style dinner (we had 21 folks). They were able to give us a private room with no minimum spend
I went here for Valentines Day an EVERYTHING was AMAZING beginning with the atmosphere entering , The Service the waiter gave I forgot his name (my apologies) but he was very Nice and helpful. The Appetizers were delicious & The Food Was even more delicious I’m still talking about it. To Finish The Night Off I Even Got Engaged Here So I Have To Go Back Again 💕
A family perennial favorite. Consider the bookmaker salad with double sided garlic bread!
Food is amazing here the garlic bread is soft and full of flavor. The sausage and peppers are really good sweet and savory. The penne le vodka is good. Has a ton of sauce allows you to dip the garlic bread in it. The linguini with meat sauce is very meaty and tastes very homemade. The black cherry spritz with prosecco is not dry. It almost tastes like a wine. The staff is amazing. Walked in and was taken right away to a table. The waiter was very knowledgeable and his suggestions were right on par.
I’m a good snob! Been to Italy a few times and think I’m a pretty good cook. This was hands down the best Italian food I have ever had in the states. Thank you for this experience!
Sabatino’s is located in Little Italy in Baltimore MD. They have the best homemade salad dressing, the entrees are authentic and they have meat ravioli which is hard to find, service was very good, they brought our daughter a birthday cannoli, loved the shrimp cocktail and dessert. Great evening!
Bianca wine is a lightly sweet fruity flavor wine. We were just a little hungry, so we went with appetizers, though we will want to come back to try the homemade pasta and the veal Florentino. Sabatinos special appetizers was a combination of the clam, (Not my favorite, the tomato overpowered the clam and spices, shrimp Renato (good flavor, very cheesey, and the sautéed sausage with green peppers (my personal favorite) as well as calamari (crunchy but chewie). The caprese salad was a light fare that blended nicely with the bianca.
Gnocchi was out of this world. They also had one of my favorite desserts of all time that is SO hard to find- tortoni 💜
We made this our last stop in Baltimore after hearing about it from the staff at the WTC Top of the World. We had a late lunch so we had plenty of room to ourselves. The atmosphere is really cool in this old building that has been taken over by Sabatino's throughout the years. The place seats 450 very nicely. We started with the Bookmaker salad and it was a winner. I generally don't like salads but I told my wife "who knew salads could be so good." At the suggestion of our server, I had the Baked Gnocchi and it will forever be the benchmark to which all others are compared. It was amazing and I cleaned the plate. My wife had the Eggplant Parmigiano and it was also amazing. Another can't miss spot in one very cool city!
Our experience was AMAZING. Our waiter Justin was so kind, accommodating and knowledge. He also had a great sense of humor. He really made our experience so much fun. We got the Baked gnocchi, chicken Fettucine Alfredo and lemon chicken. The were all so delicious. The Alfredo was the best I've ever had. My only suggestion would be to add some Italian sausage to gnocchi. It needed a little more meat in the sauce. Other than that, our experience was A1. This is OUR new place now. ❤❤
I love Sabatino’s!! I’ve been coming here for 20 years, and the food, service, and ambiance is unmatched! I’ve never had a bad experience.
We happened here on a whim, and it was amazing! The food was outstanding and the service was top notch. Highly recommend!
I was BLOWN away by this place. I've been told to check it out so many times, and I finally got the chance, right before a concert. Which was absolutely a mistake because dinner was SO GOOD, and I was so full, hands down the best meal I've had this year, no contest. The DESSERT, I haven't had tiramisu that amazing within the US, and my husband loved the rum cake. I was so impressed and cannot wait to make a trip up to Baltimore just to eat here again. Also would recommend calling ahead for a reservation, especailly on the weekend, we got luck, probably because we had a earlier dinner, but they definitely got busier as we were leaving.
My 8yr daughter and I checked out new jobsite and this was nearby. From my daughter "The food was amazing!" From me "The Service was incredible! Richard recommended some food for us and when he heard my daughter's order he recommended a Half portion of a regular dish. We actually ate a whole dish that was separated up for us. We are coming back with the family next time for sure!" Also make sure you get desert!
My family and I have been coming here for 25 years. The host is welcome and Peachy is the epitome of the BEST service you’ll get as a waitress. The food is authentic Italian, the drinks are immaculate and compliments the meal immensely, the salad was nice and crispy, the Caesar dressing was drinkable, and the grand finale the entree was the best part of my whole trip. After a solid AFC div playoff game I was famished, I ordered the eggplant Parmesan with veal. It came with a side of pasta & sauce. My uncle and cousin ordered the chicken Parmesan with baked rigatoni (order this with extra sauce, extra cheese and extra well done) turns it into a run of the mill side dish to a great side dish. The cannoli and coffee blew me away. I’m from Dallas there’s nobody or nowhere that compares to this place. Little Italy is my favorite part of Baltimore. Lastly thing I had the Hawaiian punch Mocktail, and it was so refreshing.
My wife and I were in town for Thanksgiving. My son in law's parents took us here one night. What a nice place. The food is great, the service is wonderful, even my granddaughters behaved. (Sort of). I would come back to Sabitinos any time. You should too.
Went to Sabatino's while in Baltimore celebrating my birthday and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious - authentic Italian. Great portion sizes. The service was wonderful. I had the canoli for dessert and it was the best I'd ever tasted. Everyone with me was raving about how good the food was. We highly recommend.
We came to Sabatino’s for my families yearly get together around new years. We sat upstairs which was nice because it was like having the place to ourselves. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The drinks and food were beyond delicious! Portions were great, along with the price point.
I Visited Sabatino's for the first time last weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. Despite it being extremely busy on a Saturday night service was pretty fast. The Chicken Parm was arguably the best I've ever had. The Chicken noodle soup was very fresh u can tell they make the pasta in house. The drink menu is really old school,They have a very extensive wine collection.
This restaurant, vividly reminded me of my visit to the ole country. From the open dining room, that delivers cozy little tables & booths, which afforded an experience that makes you feel like you're the center of the dining activity. From the 1st entree through a scrumptious rum cake for dessert. Many, many thanks to Sabatinos for providing a delightful explosion to my pallet that was, in the words of singer Nat King Cole, "unforgettable!"
A wonderful landmark!! Always a great old school italian family restaurant feel. Food- as always, very good. I had chicken Alfredo. My wife had the chicken lynn, except with marinara. Of course, we had to start with a house salad, so we could get the house dressing. We also started with the short rib ravioli. All delicious The staff was very friendly as usual. This time around our waiter was not nearly as attentive as we'd like, but out of the dozens and dozens of times we've been here, it was a first, and they were very busy (which was great to see), so I'll give a pass on that one. If you havnt tried Sabatinos, and you're looking for some good, old school, home cooked Italian, definitely give them a try.
28June2021 This was my first time in Sabatino’s(not my last)and in or even knowing about Little Italy in MD and I’ve only been living here going on 6 yrs. I had the best companion guy and awesome food. I had for an appetizer mussels w/marinara and the marinara was fresh and the tomatoes were very pronounced in this order. The sauce was thick enough to eat w/bread. The Veal Saltimbocca w/spaghetti for my main dish and it was on point. The veal was so tender to the cut. Flavors wear working out my taste buds. My guest had fried calamari and chicken Parmesan w/spaghetti as it was really delicious that there wasn’t anything left on the plate. Our waitress was very attentive and kept the refreshments coming. The atmosphere was very inviting and a mix of people vibing in their own way. This place is a must visit. My boat is docked in the marina, so I’ll be back.
We flew into Baltimore for our daughters graduation and wanted to select a good place to eat! I think we hit the jackpot with Sabatino’s! We wanted a restaurant closer to John Hopkins University and knowing we had picky eaters we wanted a place where everyone could enjoy a great meal. All six in our party had a great time! I chose the Penne w/Vodka sauce - it was terrific! Four of the group chose the Fettuccine Alfredo (🤷♂️) the other chose the Fettuccine Felicia. Everyone enjoyed their selection but what did matter, it was graduation night and time spent with family & friends is what this was all about! No one wanted dessert but me so I selected the White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake! Of course I shared had to let the table know what they passed on! Not sure if we’ll make it back to Baltimore anytime soon but I would recommend going here! This was an early dinner with reservation was at 4:30 so it wasn’t crowded.
Great good and wonderful service… I have celiac and often ask for specific food options and they made my dish the way I wanted it…. So good! All the servers are great!!
The service was wonderful The food was tasty The place definitely had that Italian family restaurant feel. We stopped by on a late Friday evening, and it was 6 of us. Still managed to accommodate us. Our server was lovely and answered all my kid's questions. Food was enjoyed by all. I forgot to take photos until the last bite of the tiramisu 🤦😊 Definitely worth a visit when we are in the neighborhood.
Amazing family style Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy. The chicken parmigiana was excellent (not pictured), and the chocolate moose cheese cake was decadent. Service was wonderful as well. We came in with under an hour before closing, and were seated right away, waited on promptly by friendly staff, and served delicious and fresh expertly prepared food. This is an instant favorite for me.
I’ve been going to “Sabs” for my entire life (33 years). And every single time I go, it’s the same- which I think is the biggest compliment in the world. From the very beginning of your visit, you feel welcome. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and they are always happy to see you and have you in the space. The drinks - ESPECIALLY THE CHIANTI - are incredible. And the food, oh my god the food. You literally cannot go wrong with a single thing on the menu. A few of my favorites are the bookie salad, the calamari, the ravioli, the spaghetti in oil, the fettuccine, the lasagna, and don’t ever forget the tiramisu! Sabs is the best Little Italy has to offer. I’ll never go anywhere else!
We had heard very nice things about the new york strip steak, and it was a fine cut, unfortunately served luke warm and barely any grill marks, so we didn't get that yummy seared flavor. The penne ala vodka was short on cream so more of a tomato sauce. That said, we really enjoyed our server's blunt direct yet charming style.
This was by far some of the best homemade Italian food I've ever had. Was here on a layover for work and it was just absolutely amazing. Tina, my waiter recommended my entree and dessert and I couldn't have been happier with the choices. Baked Ziti and Lemonceilo cake were just so good. Atmosphere was amazing got myself as a single diner a little room to myself with a Christmas Tree and prompt service and food came out fresh and out quickly. Absolutely if I come back to the area will go here again.
Un excelente restaurant comida exquisita precios aquesibles un lugar limpio lo recomendamo 100%
Excelente lugar ... Y la.comida deliciosa..... Volvería en cualquier momento sin duda
Muy agradable ambiente. Y su comida, me encanto
First, I’d like to say that I’ve eaten at Sabatinoes’s for the past 50 years at least once a year. It was the go to place when I was a child and we still have family gatherings there as they accommodate large parties very easily. Next I’d like to say it is Americanized Italian food. If you’ve gone to Italy, this does not compare to real Italian food. The menu hasn’t changed in the past 50 years. The food still taste the same. I always get the house salad with house dressing, garlic, bread, and shrimp fra Diavlo. The shrimp fra Diavlo is not spicy at all. everybody seemed to enjoy their dinner Came back again. Service was fabulous. Parking not too bad. Food was the same except the salad dressing was thinner. The shrimp are always cooked really well in this dish. Tried the tiramisu which I did not like that much. I won’t get it again.
Food was good and came out fairly quickly. Expected a little more for the price but seems pretty average for the area. Waitress was pleasant and quick to service table. Calamari was alright, Veal Parmigiana was pretty good and my daughter was not very impressed with Fettuccine.
This is an old style family run Italian restaurant with clean beveled mirror walls and cloth tablecloths and napkins. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. Kitty, our server, has been at it for quite a while and is very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. This is a good old school restaurant with a definite Baltimore family vibe. The highlight, for me, was their chocolate mousse cake. Again, a generous portion and a perfect end to an enjoyable dining experience.
The short rib ravioli is so good , I ordered one to take home after the meal, the Caprese salad was nice, the Sabatini Side Car Cocktail tail wasn't my jam but it was mixed well, the Lasagna was pretty good too. The building is very old but it has a character all its own that people dig. The wait staff is on point all the time. FYI there is never any parking down here and the streets are narrow, and the cops are always looking to give you a ticket, so a cab is a good idea.
Food was solid and enjoyable. Marinara was lightly seasoned so tomato really came through. Chicken francese a little overcooked but good flavor. Same with chicken parmigiana. My youngest got the fried shrimp and was very happy. Average entree was about 20. Service with Diane was impeccable. Good music over the PA.
Old school Italian, been there for ever, nice people , good staff, the short rib ravioli was the star, the Caprese was good, the lasagna was MEH, the other pasta dishes are probably better. It's definitely worth a visit if you want the old school charm of the place. But there is not much parking so maybe take a LYFT or UBER
Southern Italian food in little Italy Baltimore. Our server is a nice old lady who has been working there since 1974. My favorite is the Bookmaker salad and garlic bread. I don’t suggest the sampler appetizer because the quality isn’t the same as if you order the individual appetizer. For example, the garlic bread is so much better when you order them from the individual appetizer, they’re freshly toasted, soft, warm vs the ones on the sampler that aren’t warm, or fresh. The sampler seem to have been prepared for a while and seating in a tray under a warm lamp. The only thing that is pretty good on the sampler is the shrimp Renato. I wish they made the sampler the same quality as individually ordered. The mussels (white wine, garlic sauce) was ok. I probably should’ve tried the marinara sauce instead. I will try their specialty cuisines such as pasta next time I visit.
I always enjoy a nice home cooked Italian meal and Sabatino's has it down. The portions are large and delicious and the prices are affordable for the amount of food you are served. Staff is professional and engaging and makes you feel like your at family dinner. The business is family owned for 3 generations and it's located right in the heart of Little Italy
To start off with what I believe are the clear positive aspects of this long standing restaurant, the service was impeccable and the servers were upbeat and kind. With this restaurant being more than 70 years old, the history and the ambiance were both naturally stupendous, and simply being there gives you a wonderful feeling, especially since you might just be supporting the entire neighborhood. Moving on to the food, it was great but slightly overrated and not as authentic as you would expect, sadly. With that, please note that the food was still exceptional and worth paying for, especially when you pair this with the fact that you are in one of the last remaining original Italian restaurants in the area. In conclusion, I would give the service, atmosphere, and history all 5 stars, except for the food, which is unquestionably made up for by all the other features and characteristics of the restaurant itself.
Me encanto la comida de Este lugar, y la atencion Excelente!
Buena comida italiana
What a great home style Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Great pictures of celebrities on the wall as you come in. Good little bar, with a hard working bar tender. Our server was average, the food was disappointing. Average at best, not what I was expecting from Little Italy.
I wanted to love it, because I'm a huge fan of "red sauce" Italian restaurants. Nice people, good service but very mediocre food. Salad was huge, but was limp. Baked rigatoni was dry and rubbery. I'd try it again, because I love the history and the people were super nice.
The bread is good and the service is excellent. Other than that, pick another place. There are plenty of other options within walking distance. The chicken parm was $25 or $26 for lunch. And it was inedible. So was the eggplant parm. Pasta needs salt. Sauce needs more spices, salt and pepper. The place needs to be spruced up, from the carpets to the linens. Hey, at least it’s clean. But it does have a distinct odor when you walk in, like it’s old or has lingering grease. Let’s just say, I won’t be back. Sad to say but this old girl needs a new coat of paint and a new cook. $35 a person for lunch, before tip. That was for the chicken and eggplant parm, two desserts and 2 non-alcoholic drinks.
Came here for a family dinner before seeing a show at the BSO. This old school Italian joint serves up mediocre versions of the classic. Tried both the lasagna and the veal saltambuco and both were flavorless, with the veal tonight and squeaky. Seek other options, this one is past it's prime.
The restaurant is cute old school. However, I was not that impressed with the food. The white sauce muscles were bland and the sauce was lumpy and pasta way over cooked. I tried my daughter’s chicken. The flavor was ok but really tough to cut. I was super disappointed. It was not that good. My husbands shrimp was good though. It was not someplace I would go back. Giving it 3 stars only because I feel maybe they had a bad night? But honestly not worth a long 5 hour drive meal.
I can only imagine how tough it is to run a multi generational restaurant in a post-covid environment. We arrived about 45 minutes before closing and were taken care of by Rick although the whole vibe seemed awkward. Caesar salad was disappointing - dressing was not good and prepackaged. Melon & prosciutto was absolutely terrible - rinds were left on the melon and prosciutto was super bland. Alfredo definitely tasted not homemade and meatballs were on the verge of being overcooked. Pasta is advertised as being homemade but that seems a little suspect. We weren't offered a dessert menu and honestly just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. It's a shame since we really wanted to like this place but recommend checking out a different restaurant in the neighborhood instead.
For a restaurant with such classic, old school service that's so entrenched in Little Italy history, it's a shame that the food is so aggressively mediocre. Basic pasta sides are overdone, mushy, and bland. Salads are barebones with bottled dressing squirted in a cup. There's a very limited selection of entrees, and they are the most basic Italian dishes imaginable--all average tasting at best. There are many other restaurants in Little Italy to try to out.
I was really disappointed. A co-worker used to bring me eggplant Parmesan from Sabatino's 20 years ago and I LOVED it. I graduated from Strayer University at CFG Arena and wanted to go to Sabatino's for my graduation dinner. I was so disappointed and I won't be going out of my way to go there again. Oh well... 😑😑😑
This place is good, but definitely over rated. The bookmaker salad and garlic bread are amazing, but the other food was mediocre at best. Know that they are not vegetarian friendly and do not honor modifications if asked (very disappointing). Overall it was an okay experience but we won’t be retuning, much better restaurants in Little Italy.
Came based on a recommendation. It was hard to find someone when we 1st walked in. There wasn't a hostess stand so we just kept walking until we were at the bar and then waited for someone to walk past and say they would be back with us shortly. Got seated, waited about 10 min before our server stopped by to say she'll be back in a min to get our drink order. When she came back, she brought us a basket of bread that was cold along with cold butter. The bread was fresh but cold bread and cold butter don't exactly workout too well. She brought us our drinks and said she would be back for our order. I noticed lipstick on my glass of water but decided to just not drink it or say anything to not delay any further service. About 10 min later she came back and we ordered our food. About 5 or 10 min later she came back and asked us our order again which was a little unnerving. She brought the food out and the lasagna was luke warm. We weren't going to say anything but she walked by and said how is everything and we started to tell her about the lasagna but she said it before we even did which meant its a common thing. She took it back and when she returned it was nice and hot. Overall nothing terrible, just probably wouldn't return.
The service and ambiance were both excellent. However, the food was below average, and quite pricy for the low quality/portion. I wouldn't go back.
I've been coming to Sabatino's for over 50 years. I haven't been there in about 8 years or so and I needed a Bookmaker fix. My wife and I braved the terrible conditions and had lunch there this past Thursday. We arrived 11:30 and waited about 5mins for someone to greet us and show us to our table. Not the warm greeting I have been accustomed to receiving. Unfortunate. Then our server arrived 5mins later. I won't name her, because it could have been an off day, but she was rude and clearly didn't want to be there. Now I accustomed to the old no nonsense yet friendly hon's that have always waited on me over the years. This was not that experience. Unfortunate. While attempting to order she literally told us rudely, "I don't care", being dismissive of our dietary needs! Insane. We pushed through and ordered the large Bookmaker salad and eggplant parm to split. Food came out fast. Finally something good. The eggplant parm was excellent as always and my favorite dish. As for the Bookmaker, good but also disappointing. Portion was good with plenty of shrimp, cheese, salami... all the yummy things. But the signature dressing was not up to standard. It was not the powerful delicious aggressive dressing I have craved my whole life but more a weak substitute! Disappointing. Hopefully just an off day. I'll give them another chance of course. I've loved this place too much for too long! Hoping for a better more familiar experience next time.
I was excited to come here for my daughter's birthday. We got there and called in to get the ramp for my wheelchair (need to get in front door with a chair). They were super friendly and helpful, getting my wheelchair and myself in to be seated. However, the rest was pretty disappointing. I was underwhelmed by the food and quality. I've visited this restaurant before and expected a lot more (15 years or so ago). A lot of the food seems to be store-bought, such as the mozzarella sticks, marinara, spaghetti, pasta, and cannolis. The only thing I think really kind of stood out would be the sausage and green peppers or chicken parmesan and for dessert, tiramisu. I'm just hoping I came on a bad night.
We had salad, steak in marinara sauce, Spaghetti meatballs, fried beef tips ravioli. My husband rated it 4 stars.. The salad wasn't so fresh . The ravioli was 5 stars ..I'd highly recommend that. The steak was not seasoned well and I didn't really like the taste of it . They served plain bread with butter, being an Italian restaurant we had expected garlic bread instead. The meal came up to $70.
My wife saw a video and convinced me to try a new place. We ordered the Bookmakers salad, clams casino, Veal Francesco with a side of angel hair pasta with Alfredo sauce, Gnocchi with Alfredo sauce, and the garlic bread with cheese. My pasta had so much sauce it was like a soup, and I usually like extra sauce, this was overkill. If it had a nice flavor I would have muscled thru. The tomato sauce in the clams casino had no spice at all, tasted like diced tomatoes in red sauce. The veal was just ok. My wife liked the Gnocchi, I again thought it has way to much sauce. Our server was nice, but the restaurant itself was dated. There was 1 other couple in the restaurant and I overheard them dissecting thier dishes with the same disappointment. I don't believe we'll be going back.
My family has been coming here my entire 35 year life for all special occasions. I don't know what happened, did the quality just drop off or have my standards risen in my adulthood? I suspect both. Perhaps, I look back with rosy nostalgic lens when I think about my childhood meals here. But I think it's actually quite possible that the food here just sucks now. Business seems to still be going strong so I suspect their milking off of the nostalgia and the old timey atmosphere that Sabatino's provides. For sure, this place hasn't change a bit in 35 years and you're definitely paying for that experience. But you're also paying for overcooked pasta with microwavable flavor. You're paying for bread definitely bought from walmart. And for food that comes out too fast and tastes like it does. Judging by the mostly positive reviews I think this place is also banking on the fact that much of their business comes from county suburbanites that think Olive Garden is authentic. But in a foodie city like Baltimore where you incredible quality Italian restaurants, even across the street, I don't know how much longer they can keep up the gig before they need to seriously consider firing their cooking staff and starting from scratch.
For years I've heard about the famous Sabatino's "Bookmakers" salad. So, I finally decided to order two for my daughter and I today for late lunch. What a mistake! If it is a Bookmaker's salad the bookmakers must be Ebenezer Scrooge! Where do I start? We ordered the large, assuming that we would want extra goodness. WRONG! The description on Grubhub listed Shrimp, ✔ Provolone Cheese, ✔, that's where the description goes far left. Black Olives (3), Green Olives (1), Tomatoes ( 4 very small grape tomatoes), Red Onions (a very small collection of wilted soft onions amounting to about a silver dollar, Pepperoncini (1), Eggs (3 thin slices, not equalling half an egg). I dug through the entire salad to find these meager additions, because I was so surprised. The rest is a container of cheap iceberg lettuce! At $15.25 for each this is a travesty! This is nothing more than a poor subshop salad offering, usually priced around $6-$7. The acclaimed House Dressing (which I paid for exta assuming great taste and flavor) was a bland gritty mess. I went hunting through my fridge for a dressing to salvage this mess... to no avail. This was a total waste of my money, at $43.09, for 2 salads, including $4.39 for delivery, tax and tip, for such a failure, I am disgusted. Sabatino's, with your rich history in this city... you should do better! As my uneatten salad regretfully moves closer to the garbage, I'm still hungry! BTW, delivery was great even with the delay - on the restaurant's side. Don't waste your time or money on this debacle.😡
It’s Thursday, around 7:00 PM. A colder night than what Baltimore’s thrown at us this unpredictable October. I’m hungry, I’m cold, and all I want is some honest-to-god pasta. Sabatino’s sits there with over 2,000 reviews — a wall of digital praise, a shrine to Little Italy’s glory days. I should’ve looked deeper. My partner and I walk in, and we’re greeted by friendly, attentive staff. We sit. The waiter brings an extra set of silverware, and there it is — a long black hair lying across my fork like it belongs there. Most people would call a manager, maybe even post a photo. Me? No big deal, I just flick it off. We order: one tomato fettuccine, one Alfredo, and a side of sautéed garlic broccoli. The waitress is great — prompt, polite, trying her best in a losing battle. The bread arrives, and immediately lowers expectations. We push it aside and pretend it’s not an omen. Our food arrived fast. Suspiciously fast. Then the food arrives. My heart sinks. Let’s start with the Alfredo. Imagine vomit. That’s it. Clumpy, sour, and somehow both overworked and lazy. The pasta itself looks like it lost its will to live halfway through cooking. My partner’s plate isn’t much better — a pool of red sauce sitting dead center, surrounded by pale noodles. It looked like a pothole after rain. Why in the world would you serve fettuccine with the sauce separated from the pasta? Who hurt you? I’m not even a chef, but you’re supposed to finish them together. Go to any restaurant nearby and they’re probably doing this bare minimum. I take a bite of my partner’s dish. It’s fine. The kind of fine that makes you wish you’d just gone to the grocery store, bought the ingredients, and saved yourself the heartache. The man across from us asks the waitress, “Is the Alfredo any good?” I look down at my plate, at this white, lumpy disaster masquerading as food, and I wonder what cruel joke the universe is playing tonight. Don’t get me started on the broccoli. Just go to Italian Disco.
Ordered to-go, the order was for a Full order of fettuccine chicken Alfredo. They offer a small order as well. The portioned size received came in a container that in my opinion most ppl would have considered to be a small single order of pasta. I’ve gotten full orders of pasta from other locations for the same price that is twice the size meant for 2-3 ppl. This portion looks like something you’d get as a lunch special. *picture is of pasta half eaten, focus on the container size*
Went for my birthday dinner. Bread , bookmaker salad and cannoli was delicious. Lasagne terrible, spaghetti with meat sauce terrible. Sausage and peppers delicious. Out of 4 people my husband was the only person who liked his food, he got chicken parmigiana. Decor extremely outdated.
I used to love coming here. This is not my first time. However, when I tasted the book salad last night, I immediately knew things had changed. It was badly over dressed, watery salad that was not crisp but made me imagine it was for someone else, they didn’t want it so they gave it to me already mixed and tuning brown. 😩 Sorry. Then the lasagna which I always get. It tasted just like a metal can. You know that strong can taste? I took two bites for evidence and that was it. I just wanted to leave, drive 2 hours home and miss a chance to eat in Little Italy. I think I’ll follow the reviews next time. Although, was this a bad day, July 4th, or is this the norm now? Get it together. I want this restaurant to succeed.
Another delusional fellow Saw a mouse underneath the table and they denied having any rodents. Started looking at the reviews and saw someone else’s review from 3 years ago who they said was delusional. Years later and I believe more people since have seen this mouse but didn’t say anything the mouse came out again. The crazy thing is that I still stayed because my college son was excited to take me there but the whole time I was looking all over making sure it didn’t come find me. Anyways, made it through dinner even though I ate just a lil to not make my son feel bad on bringing me to this place. I will be posting this review on all platforms to assure you there is a mouse in this place. Also, when you enter by the phone where the wooden table is in between they have a mouse trap. Good job on not admitting to nothing and thank you for that it confirmed what I had seen without you guys accepting it.
Stay away. The only good thing about my dining experience was the garlic bread and the house italian dressing. Ordered the fruiti di mare, lobster was rubber (inedible), muscles were not fresh (barely edible), the wine sauce was so bland that I had to add gobs of salt, pepper and parmesan cheese (which is not good cheese). It was not worth the $34 price tag. My coworker said that the chicken was overcooked. The place smells like mothballs.
Food had no flavor. White wine sauce tastes like creamy water. The penne vodka sauce tastes purely like tomatoes and acidic (was not made well). However, customer service was great.
Not what it used to be. The interior is very old, dated and has a terrible carpet smell, the light above us was flickering, it’s real beat up. The atmosphere was extremely loud and rowdy. There was an obnoxious bday table, no decorum. We tried to leave, management changed our location but we could still hear them and others in that area were upset too. I ordered a mule, they didn’t have ginger beer, I tried to order vodka and 7up, their machine wasn’t working. The food was not authentic. Italians love bread, I’m Italian, their bread was stale. We order breaded clams, not good. The veal had a terrible taste and aftertaste, seriously think it wasn’t fresh. There is a restaurant across the way, wish we would have eaten there. Unfortunately, I think the doors need to be closed or it needs a whole new revamp.
Had their so-called famous bookmaker salad! It had more pieces of wilted and brown lettuce in it than edible pieces! A waste of time and money!!
I ordered from this restaurant through grubhub. It was my first time trying this place. I was craving good ole lasagna. I received my order and it hurt my feelings how awful it was. The sauce was watery and it did not taste fresh. The cheese looked old, thick, hard to eat. I took maybe 5 small bites and could not finish it. I was better off just going to the grocery store and getting a Stoufers or Marie Calendar frozen lasagna meal. Please get better cooks.
First and foremost, as far our large business group of 15 - service was excellent. Our server had attitude and hustled. As far as food, if I could give negative stars I would. For a family Italian restaurant, it sure lacks the family recipes and flavorful dishes that I have come to enjoy from Italian establishments. Just a big let down. Spaghetti and Meatballs - bland and boring. Shrimp Something, see picture. Breaded soggy shrimp in some kind of brown gravy, totally awful. Eggplant Parmigiana with Veal. Eggplant decide, veal was overcooked. Mussels, wine sauce was luke warm, lacked flavor and the mussels were rubbery. Steak - holy piece of leather, around 1/8" thick. No seasoning. Overall just an awful experience.
