Bar Smith Bardonecchia Reviews
A truly beautiful place, with a refined and pleasant atmosphere. Super efficient, kind, and welcoming staff, always ready to satisfy every request. Excellent value for money. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely recommend it!
Definitely fast and efficient. Self-service bar and restaurant. Located right on the "Campo Smith" training camp. Classic and traditional local dishes, neither praise nor infamy. Prices are reasonable. I found the staff friendly and very kind. Smiling and friendly. We've eaten there several times, both inside and outside. You can eat anything from a quick snack with a slice of pizza to a full plate. Recommended.
Nice panino though I’m still not entirely convinced the green napkins needed to be that intimate with the bun. I may have eaten part of one, but at least the chocolate cake made up for it: a generous slice for just 5 euro, the perfect reward after a long morning on the slopes. With limited options around here, we ended up at Smith’s a couple of times. The cashiers weren’t exactly masters of queue management and seemed a touch dismissive, but nothing worth raising an eyebrow over. Their Sacher was lovely, though my attempt to order it in English (I called it chocolate cake) didn’t land. Clearly my German/Italian needs a little polishing.
The food was passable, but the overall experience was terrible. The place was extremely chaotic, and the staff seemed completely confused when providing us with information. The worst incident occurred at the table: while I was ordering, my partner sat down with our dog in the only available seat. When the waitress asked how many of us there were, and when she replied, "Two of us plus a dog," she was met with a sour response: "Well, others have to eat too." As if that weren't enough, while we were still eating, they placed a stranger at our table without asking us anything or saying a word. It's self-service, but politeness and respect for the customer's privacy should come first. We won't be returning.
Anti-foreigner. The waiter was rude
I came for lunch yesterday with my boyfriend after a morning of skiing. We spent a lot on two courses and drinks, and as a result, we're both still sick. We spent the night completely awake, between vomiting and other things. Paying so much and still being like this is no big deal. Either lower the prices or increase the quality and freshness of the products. We ordered: polenta with cheese and stew, and plain polenta with sausage.
The location was excellent, right in the center of Piazza Piste. Unfortunately, however, the service left much to be desired: the staff behind the counter were quite rude. I had never seen a Moroccan dish served in an espresso glass. Furthermore, the restaurant's portions are not at all consistent. When we asked, we were told that the side dish served with the roast was smaller... but in reality, it was exactly half the size.
The food was pretty good, mind you. But the staff was unfriendly and disorganized. The prices were crazy: $4.50 for a can of Coke!
Except that the place will be open because it's in a strategic location, it confirms what I'd seen in previous posts. The staff, except for the cashier, were rude. I asked twice what pastries were available, but received no answer. Luckily, while waiting for coffee, a waiter pointed out the inappropriate wait, especially given the low traffic at the time. Are you complaining about the lack of business in the Susa Valley? Friendliness, politeness, and a predisposition for tourism are lacking.
At 2:45 PM, I politely and smilingly asked if I could get a sunbed (most of them were empty, on a weekday Thursday) and how much it would cost. The gruff response was, "Yes, but you pay for the whole day, we don't split." I said no more.
The location is very beautiful and well-kept, with a pleasant atmosphere. However, the service was subpar: the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. As for the food, the polenta was tasteless and lacking in character. A real shame, because the place has so much potential.
As for the upstairs, everyone was very distracted, and when I asked for information, they were never exhaustive. As for the downstairs, the girl at the cash register was so rude that I never wanted to sit at the table. The quality-price ratio is extremely poor, considering that for such small portions I would have spent less at a reputable restaurant. The music is incredibly loud, considering they have no right to impose their bad taste on the entire surrounding area. Finally, I saw the champion I mentioned earlier eating with her hands directly from the trays served to customers, which, combined with what I just said, made my hands itch quite a bit.
bloody bad service noone even looks at you and expect to wait half an hour to get a single drink. never again!
We returned for the first time since the change of management. We're sorry to note that the staff isn't at all friendly. While we speak politely to them, their responses to customers are less than courteous, and unfortunately, I've noticed this behavior is common among all customers. The girl working on the pizza/sandwiches mixed up my order with someone else's. We politely pointed this out to her, but she responded completely inappropriately (as if we didn't know what we'd ordered). It's a shame; the previous management knew how to work properly.
They are just simple impudent thieves. We bought the same drink twice and were charged differently. When we asked for a reason that said the price of a drink depends if you ordered at the table or whether you drink at the bar. Both drinks were ordered at the bar. They understand English when it comes to ordering but not when you have a claim. They have no clearly displayed price list. They cheated on us twice - well, as far as we know, maybe more. Avoid them. Just a good reputation for the country.
We stopped by here to grab a toasted sandwich after a long hike, and I think it's ridiculous to serve a toasted sandwich with, literally, a slice of ham and a slice of cheese for €6. We've had much better, properly made toasted sandwiches elsewhere in Bardonecchia. Don't take advantage of people just because it's the holidays and they're not local. And, not to mention, it doesn't take much culinary skill to make a toasted sandwich.
