Very cool old Fashioned place. Great atmosphere and even better food. I really enjoyed this place. It felt like an old restaurant I used to visit when I was a kid. The wood work and just the old school, but not out dated, vibe was incredible. Our meals where excellent I personally enjoyed the Alex Prime rib. This prime rib was cut and lightly grilled with Montreal seasoning and tasted great. Burgers looked great too. Alex’s make their own Ranch dressing that you have to try. Dessert... why yes of course! Homemade pies that are better than any pie I have had yet. Enjoy your visit.

This was a great spot I happened upon thanks to Google. I was looking for a good steak and they did not disappoint! Their steaks are cooked over charcoal, leading to even better flavor. I ordered a ribeye, medium rare, with mixed squash and a baked potato. I was surprised to get a broccoli mix instead, but it was incredible and I was glad that's what they sent. The waitress offered multiple times to bring something else because of the mix up and I appreciated that level of service, but I was quite happy with what I got. The steak was a little higher on the price than what I was expecting (price is not printed on the menu and I didn't ask,), but the quality and flavor of the steak was so good that it was worth every penny. I hope to return on a weekend sometime to try prime rib!

I’ve been coming here for 10+ years and I ALWAYS hope Sarah takes care of me and my closest friends. Her work ethic and playful banter keeps us coming back, even after those nights when the kitchen is below par. Sarah, I’ll be back for my big 40th birthday with 12 of my closest friends soon!!!!

Really delicious food. Honestly, all food was perfect or close to it. The filet mignon was cooked to medium rare and was buttery smooth. Mushrooms added as an extra quickly eaten with delight. French onion soup was a cheesy savory celebration. I personally ordered crab stuffed haddock. It was outstanding. Even though I broke my cardinal rule about buying seafood in a steakhouse. The clams casino was a delightful appetizer. Others ordered the 99 cent shrimp cocktail. 6 (small to medium ) sized shrimp with cocktail sauce. The enjoyed the surprisingly generous portion. The desert for the few that ordered them were enjoyed. The atmosphere was almost 80s steak house but appropriate. It just didn't warrant a perfect score. The only downside was the liquor. Super stingy. I ordered a double whiskey on the rocks. The liquid looked a dull yellow gold instead of the rich amber I see a most other restaurants. The servers were friendly and efficient. It was to busy and yet we rarely. Had an empty glass for long .

Food was great, definitely recommend if you want steak, bbq or seafood. Staff was friendly and the location is very convenient with lots of parking near the front. Inside the resturant has a warm cozy feel. Definitely recommend.

Found this hidden jem near our hotel. The atmosphere was great. Great lighting and friendly company. The food was awesome!! Everyone was very satisfied with potion size and accommodations. The service was second to none. We did not have to ask for anything before it was offered. The award winning ribs were truly fall off the bone and the wings were super flavorful. My wife said it was the best baked potatoe she has had in years. Perfectly cooked through. Will definitely be going back next time we are in town.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. The entire menu was the most reasonably priced I've seen in what feels like forever. If you're in town you need to eat here or else you're missing out.

FANTASTIC. The best prime rib soup work barley EVER, the most amazing ribs, and fantastic coconut creme pie. Great service and beautiful presentation, just like twenty years ago... Highly recommend.

I love this place. I always try to meet my Dad here when I'm in Rochester for work because it's worth the drive and if they're busy, it's definitely worth the wait. The French onion soup is awesome as were the bacon wrapped scallops with the maple dipping sauce. This visit, I had the shrimp fraDiablo and was fantastic. Great food, great service, cool atmosphere, great experience all around.

1st let me say if you are within 20 miles of Alex's Place between lunch and dinner...Get Here!!! Batavia NY is a very nice little town 36 miles east of Buffalo. The interior may seem a bit dated for some but for me it beckons of a time when restaurants actually cared about customer service. All of my visits have been great! All of Alex's teammates (Rachel and company were on watch the evening of my visit) work as one unit to make your visit worth every penny! Be prepared to take your time to order...the menu is GIANT; add in the daily specials to your choices and it really becomes a challege to decide what to have. Try the ribs! Try the grilled chix! Try the meatloaf! Try the seafood! Try the STEAKS! Sit at the grill bar and see alot of the magic happen. Watch the sous chefs make everything from apps to preparing big cuts of prime rib for an order. Many delicious appetizers to choose from; my favorite, the French Onion Soup ..spoiler...it has something special in it that is a show stopper...Yum! The dinner rolls are warm, BIG & fresh. The dinner salad isfresh & large. It has a good variety of components...chick peas...really? I visited this resteraunt last night for dinner as my family is camping in Darien lake. We are from Canada. We would not find a combination of this food quality, service and pricing at home. Our server was so kind, the portions are incredible and could not get over how low the bill was. The resteraunt is beautiful. I will absolutely visit here again.

We were walking to get pizza and walked by this place. The food smelled amazing from the outside so it lured us in. Everything was great. Has an old school pub feel to it and kind of fancy as well. We were so stuffed and took a bit to go.

Place was a gem. Had the garlic and bbq ribs with the shrimp and pineapple skewer. Divine. The service was great. The bartender was sweet and shot the breeze with me about all sorts of things. I stated the coffee was burnt tasted poor and she made a fresh pot strong like I like. Visit this place!

First time in. Had a fantastic meal! Waitress was sweet and super accommodating. I had the seafood pasta. (Shrimp, scallops and mussels in a scampi style sauce) The wife had a filet and baked potato.

This is a smaller restaurant with a big heart. We only had to wait ten minutes for a table of 5 at lunch. The service is top notch. They checked to refill drinks a few times and to ensure everything came out perfectly. We all kinda shared each other's meals because it was hard to pick one thing to eat. The BBQ shrimp was sweet, the BBQ ribs had a lot of meat and flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly. We also stayed for dessert. We split that too. The apple pie had a delicious crust with warm sweet apples inside. The carrot cake was moist sweet and fluffy.

Wow!! I had heard that Alex's had great food from many different people, but that turned out to be an understatement. I have eaten ribs all over the country, and I smoke my own ribs...so I know ribs! Simply put, Alex's has the best ribs I have ever eaten, anywhere in the US or abroad. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was old-pub cozy. If I had a friend coming in from anywhere in the US and I wanted to WOW them, I would take them to Alex's for ribs. Yum!!

I am so glad I did! The prime rib was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The pasta itself was the highlight of the meal; the sauce had just the right amount of kick, perfectly balanced by the richness of the gorgonzola cheese. It’s a bold, savory dish that holds its own against their famous ribs. If you're looking to switch things up from the standard grill fare, I can't recommend this pasta enough. Another incredible meal at a local favorite! I also have to say for dessert i have chocolate mint pie and i would say 3/5 because it was too sweet but overall pretty good

Our Family ordered Thanksgiving Dinner this year 11/27/2025..fresh rolls, butter, cranberry sauce was so good! White and Dark meat Turkey, mashed, stuffing, buttery corn, home made gravy- the food was flavorful, moist, real mashed potatos, stuffing seasoned perfect, packed outstanding..it stayed hot for our ride home and hours later!!! We are ordering again next year!!! Our 80 year old very particular Father (who is an amazing cook and has cooked his entire life) Raved about the dinner! It takes a lot to please him at resturants because he cooks!! Can't say enough about the food and staff when we arrived to pick up the dinner!!! Worth Every Penny!!!! My husband & I came here today for lunch and have nothing but great things to say ! Our appetizer was the bacon wrapped scallops, and got the shrimp cocktail. Then for our entree we both had the 6oz filet mignon, hubby had the wild rice and I had the pasta (alfredo) which is a lot so I had that leftover for later ☺️ Everything was delicious and our waitress was amazing. I used to frequent Alex's until I moved. I was excited to revisit this wonderful restaurant. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were able to be seated immediately and enjoyed barbecue shrimp and burger with fries . Alex's is worth the trip and they have delicious food!

This is a great restaurant bar great atmosphere excellent barbecue. I had to grilled chicken breast with the side of their macaroni salad, which was excellent. I highly recommend the danish onion soup as an appetizer. It’s a great spin on French onion soup very tasty the dessert selection of homemade pies was phenomenal. Sat at the bar for a late lunch : place was packed, full bar, bartender was very observant and competent. As far as food, I'd recommend the ribs, texture was as good as any you'd find away from a smoker. BUT the Mac salad was perfect. Firm pasta, good dressing, the interspersion of crisp veggies, and not soupy or sour or floppy. ( i love mac salad). I'll be back.

It was nice, we were celebrating my son's birthday and they put us in a table that was private, although a little cold. Our food was good, our server was very nice and our dessert was free! My server was very good. Was really dark though. Bartender was pleasant as well ans suggested me some beers I've never had. I would just say it was a bit too dark for me. The bathrooms were very nice as well. Over all would have to say employees were great and my burger feels like it needed more seasoning but besides that came out Excellent!!! Will come back.

Celebrated my 30th since my last visit here on my 21st. The food is still just as delicious. No complaints and the server was very kind and attentative making sure we had water and made the atmosphere comfortable. A very delicious and nice birthday 🎂

Had a large gathering. Our poor waitress was solo swerving 50+ guests. She did great but it definitely wasn't fair to her. People in our party did enjoy their meals however, unfortunately, the ribs that I ordered were very dry and I only could eat a small amount.

The service was good but you could tell that the food was ready already and sitting there for a while. I ordered my food and in less than 5 minutes it was out to me. I got a half rack of ribs and they were really tough. The bread that they served was served cold too - I am used to being served warm bread when dinning out so I am not sure if this is a thing around the area as another restaurant served the bread cold too.

We made a special trip out from the Buffalo area to hit up Alex's Place. We have never had a bad meal here and our last trip proved no different. From the moment you arrive, the wonder smells hit your nose. The exterior and interior are a bit dated, but we were there for the food. We were greeted and seated promptly. We were bummed they don't have the popcorn anymore, which was always a nice treat. Our server was exceptional and that is hard to find these days. Always smiling, pleasant, helpful and prompt. A special shout out to Christine A. She made great recommendations and made our visit more special. Probably one of the nicest people we have ever met in the service industry. She sets the standard. As for the food, it was amazing. We had the French Dip, which was a great potion size. The meat was nice and tender. We also got their combo with Alex's famous ribs and pulled pork. That too was a nice portion size and would definitely recommend. They are priced competitively, but with better quality food than most places. Alex's Place is always worthy of a stop. Old school charm inside. A seat by the fireplace adds to the ambiance. The location is very close to Batavia Downs & Casino. Tip: The Chef bakes homemade pies every Tuesday for the coming week. Update: We returned and our server was Steven who was great. Personable and quick. This really is a throwback to how restaurants used to be with great service, delicious food and reasonable prices, for what you're getting.

Steaks were delicious. My family was very happy with their meal. Restaurant was packed on a Wednesday we were there. If it’s this busy during the week you know it must be good. I know one of the reviews I read before I went said tables felt cramped but , it wasn’t that bad and they obviously have a lot of demand for seating so I’d rather be a bit tight and get in, than wait 30 or more for a table. Menu online needs to be updated since many items have changed and prices gone up from what we saw online. Only thing that would have made evening better would have been if they had cheesecake. They have a wide variety of pies

Stopped by Alex’s Place for dinner and had a solid experience. Ordered the New York Strip, and while the cook was a little off, it was still a great steak—especially since I was starving. The calamari, however, didn’t hit the mark for me, but to be fair, I’ve had it at over 100 places, so my standards are pretty high. My boys went for the ribs, and they had no complaints—definitely seemed to enjoy their meals. The atmosphere here gives off a cozy, friendly, family-dinner type of vibe, which makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Service was top-notch—our server was super attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Overall, a good spot with a welcoming feel, solid food, and great service!

I have to say first our server Sara was outstanding. We ordered the 6 oz filet and the ribeye. My lady said the filet was really good and enjoyed the crunchy green beans. I had the 16 oz ribeye which was cooked to my liking. Not the best I have ever had but fit what I was lookin for on a cold winter night. We both ordered the cherry pie for dessert which was really good. Over all I would recommend Alex's at a 8 out of 10 score.

I am extremely disappointed for what was paid for this meal. It seems the chicken was from yesterday, at least it tasted like leftovers.

The chicken was not fully cooked.Two others meals were not as ordered. I believe our waiter was a recent hire. They are known for their ribs which none of us ordered. I would not return. In their favor they corrected one of the meals that was ordered.

Had dinner here tonight I ordered the Top Sirloin steak and my wife got pork medallions. Each came with a salad. The problems started almost immediately when the salads arrived. My wife's salad had some obvious wilted lettuce on it, like it was made earlier in the day and had been waiting to be served. She wasn't pleased and commented "how hard is it to make a decent salad." When the dinners arrived mine was fine and hers was cold. My top sirloin was cooked the way I wanted it and my potato was really hot, right from the stove. However on my wife's plate the green beans and sweet potatoes were cold. We immediately let the waitress know and she told the manager who shortly brought a new plate for my wife. The food on that plate was the same temperature so we gave up. My wife ate some of her food. My plate was good and hot. That's the reason for the 3 rating. 50/50 on the food is not good. The service we got was great and very responsive so hats off for that. But the food problems were not so good.

We waited 10-15 minutes to be greeted once we were seated. Wings and prime rib soup were great! Our entree were just ok (porkac n cheese, chicken Alfredo and ribs). I senty fish back because it was way overdone. The new fish wasn't much better. I should know better than to order fish at a rib place though.

Food was okay. Not worth the price. The ribs lacked flavor but the pasta was great. The staff are wonderful. Has a full bar and very dark relaxing atmosphere. The clams came burnt and the mashed potato’s had no seasoning. They were pretty busy, might expect a wait.

I was recommended this place by a coworker. I ordered the Ribeye Medium Rare and they delivered the Steak with that temperature perfectly. However, the person working the Grill put a little too much Char (Crust) on the Steak. I was also not fond of the flavor of the Steak. The Mushrooms had zero flavor unfortunately. The Mashed Potatoes were very good. The Hilight for me was the Bread. Excellent. The Waitress was very good as well. Now if you don't mind a heavy Crust on you Steak, check this place out, you may find it very appealing. Management was very nice by not charging me, great Customer Service. I may have to check out their Ribs.

Normally Love this restaurant. Tonight was a bad experience service was excellent, I always order the ribs and they’re always fantastic tonight I decided to order the 16 oz ribeye steak it was mostly grizzle and fat very disappointing also ordered the bbq beans as a side have had them before and they’re always good but this time it was like they opened up a can of campbells pork n beans I hope it was just an off night . I have an unwritten rule I do not send food back at restaurants. Will probably go back to the ribs next time and skip the beans

Food is very boring, definitely catering to an older crowd with spice restrictions. I ordered medium-rare and it came out medium-well, for such an expensive steak place I would expect better. Service was slow, despite us being there at off-peak times. Waitress was there to do her job, not make conversation. Again, for this price point I would expect more hospitality. The atmosphere is alright, definitely a 90's Bistro vibe going on here. Appears to have never been updated, air is a bit musty. Nothing wrong with the anesthetic, but the air irritated my allergies.

The place has gone downhill. We have been going there for years. The employee in the kitchen was touching food already plated for the server to pick up with his bare hands, then proceeded to put his hands in the cheese bin to put cheese on food and then proceeded to get more cheese to put in his mouth! The food was mediocre. We ordered drinks at the bar before dinner. The bartender was unattentive and was rude when we told her our friends would like to order drinks as well. I did notify the manager on duty.

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. We loved coming here and we weren’t expecting anything like this from here. We ordered fish fry’s for take out at 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon. And after driving all the way back home (25-30 minutes) I opened my food to find about 15 raw uncooked French fries per meal, and what appears to be the sketchiest fish fry I have ever seen. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to eat this meal at all as we’re just as concerned about the fish being undercooked seeing as how a simple french fry is raw which is very concerning for a restaurant that focuses on selling meat… When I called about this I was told the only thing that could be done was that either I drive back, which I explained after working all day and already driving the 30 minutes home wasn’t a feasible option for me, they also offered a gift card that could be mailed to me. Since those were my options I said the gift card was fine as I didn’t want to completely lose my money and was very disappointed that I was not offered a full refund. But I will not return to this restaurant after this, I am so disappointed. I have never received uncooked food from a restaurant and for that to be the only options they offer is really disappointing.

I am done with this place. This time I ordered the BBQ combo because the last 2 times I ordered a steak it was tough as leather. My dads steak tonight was all fat. Ordered Medium rare but came raw inside and Burt outside. The chicken I got tonight was dry as a witches cootch! The ribs were ok but tiny! F this place.

I don’t typically leave bad reviews BUT today I am, and not because I want to be a nasty person at all. I have been to Alex’s multiple times in the past and had great food. TODAY was not the case. I do want to say we had good service, not great but it was acceptable, the waiter was a young man and he was really trying. The food today was not acceptable in my opinion and I was highly disappointed in 90% of what was ordered. And the not timely manor of receiving our food. 2 tables (2 ppl and 3 ppl) were seated AFTER the waiter took our orders and BOTH of these tables had their meals before we had our meals. The soup ( seafood chowder) was not a chowder at all. It was not thick and it was not creamy. This soup more like chicken noodle with a few itty bitty shrimp in it. The waiter told me NOPE that’s how we get it and it says chowder…. Not pleased with it at all. Appetizer (buffalo shrimp) breading was super soggy, although it tasted pretty spicy which I did expect and it was decent… MY MEAL I was the absolute most disappointed in. I have never ever asked anyone to take a meal off my check until today. I did eat 3 bites of this prime rib which was suppose to be “blackened prime rib over Gorgonzola penne” was pretty horrible. It dawned on me after a few bites that this prime rib was NOT much meat for a $32.99 pasta dish. AND it had Cajun seasoning on it and was NOT blackened at all. Again the waiter did not seem to know anything about the meals or how descriptions of food were not correct. When I said “this is not cooked right, it’s not blackened” he said “yea that’s correct, isn’t it spicy” I then said “umm yes it’s a tad spicy But blackened is BLACKened like slightly charred” and I googled and showed him pictures of a correctly blackened steak. He did not have anything to say after that other then he would not charge me for the meal after I asked him to take it off and that I did not want to order anything different to eat at that moment. We sat at the bar for around 12-15 mins and waited to be seated and never even got asked for if we would like anything to drink while waiting. And the area that we were seated in was stifling hot 🥵… we literally felt like we were melting and it was an uncomfortable feeling while trying to enjoy dinner. Picture below of my dinner. Went for lunch with my family today it was our first time being there and our food was cool warm like it wasn’t even steaming. My husband got a cowboy burger and it wasn’t even hot and the fries tasted like they been sitting for awhile before they were served to us. I ordered ribs chicken and shrimp combo with mashed potatoes and that wasn’t even hot either like I put butter on my mashed potatoes and it didn’t even melt. So yeah we won’t be going back there

We placed an order to go to celebrate my son’s birthday. We ordered 4 sets of ribs 1 chicken parm and 1 Salmon. The ribs were fatty and cold. The salmon was cold and missing the side. We have dined in on several occasions and have always had delicious meals. Unfortunately tonight wasn’t the case. When we arrived for picked we were greeted with the most unfriendly host. Clearly wasn’t happy to be at work. Food was not ready when stated leaving what was ready sitting on the counter getting cold. Sad to see service and quality of food declining. Most likely lost a customer. Will think twice before returning.
