The Gables Beach Haven Reviews
My family and friends made a reservation here for some pre-wedding celebration, and it was beyond perfect. For a large group of 14, the pre-fix menu was great with so many options suitable for everyone! The BYOB option was also perfect for our large group. Our waitress, Kelly, was incredible and so attentive despite the restaurant being completely full! We felt well taken care of. The ambiance in the back garden was so lovely with the beautiful flowers and string lights. You could hear the live piano player even sitting outside which really set the tone. Everyone enjoyed their meals! I loved the touch of the personalized menu, which was so meaningful to me! I particularly loved the chilled peach and lobster soup, scallops, and lemon cheesecake. The owners came to our table at the end of the night and were so lovely. I felt so welcomed and celebrated. I highly highly recommend! Thank you so much for having us!
Fantastic dinner. Food was excellent and I loved that so much of it was locally sourced, including the wine. Our waitress was wonderful too. So glad we came.
Amazing dining experience, top notch food. Excellent hospitality. Highly recommend for a romantic evening out.
I’ve walked passed this restaurant so many times over the years and have always been drawn in simply by the landscaping and setting it resides in. We finally went and it was a top ten dinner experience of our lives. The ambience of their outdoor room which is nestled and surrounded by flowers and plants is the perfect setting for an outdoor beach side restaurant. You have privacy but still have the feeling of outdoor dining. It was quaint, cozy, elegant and relaxing. The food was beyond phenomenal as was the staff. Hats off to you and I’ll definitely be back. I live 2.5 hours from beach haven and I’d be willing to go there for the day just to eat there again.
I've heard the Gables is a cozy romantic dinner spot in the heart of Beach Haven. It was packed in the summer as expected so we waited till the offseason (Oct) and made a reservation. You are immediately drawn in simply by the landscaping and the overall setting it resides in. It was to chilly to sit at the outside patio but it was nessled with flowers all around and above with patio lights which makes it an outdoor experiece. The porch where we ate was romantically quaint, cozy, elegant and relaxing. The food was beyond phenomenal as was the staff. The owners walk around to each table to chat with the diners. I loved that personal touch! My wife and I were thrilled with the experience.
My partner and I stayed at The Gables for three nights last week and everything was just lovely. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast each morning was delicious. We booked The Provence room and appreciated that there were two private bathrooms (a half-bath in the room and a full bath with tub/shower just down the stairwell). After a disappointing experience at another local restaurant (*not The Gables), we decided to make a last-minute dinner reservation at The Gables for our second evening in the area. The food, service, and atmosphere were wonderful. We felt well-taken care of and were just delighted with our meals. We also appreciated that they provided beach towels for guests and, upon request, beach chairs! The location was perfect - just a short walk to the beach. They do also have a Tesla charger and I highly recommend calling in-advance to let them know if you need to plug-in. They will certainly do their best to accommodate you!
We just got married at The Gables, and it was the perfect day! The garden is magical, and food is the best we've ever had. The owner Sondra made us feel like family, and we cannot wait to be back. Thank you for a beautiful wedding!
I can't help but rave about The Gables! This is not your average Jersey Shore restaurant. When you go to The Gables, you are getting a full culinary experience. It's a pre fixe menu, which normally is limiting and difficult... but at The Gables, you will never leave dissatisfied. I've been swooning over the watermelon gazpacho since last summer, but it was even better this weekend. The peach and buratta appetizer was delightful, fresh, and a perfect balance of sweet, crisp, and creamy. My husband loved the duck, and I can not say enough about the Apricot porkchop. With all of the fruit accents in our dishes, we went with the red sangria to lean into the fresh and light taste of summer. Perfect date night 💓 Yes you can find a number of fantastic dinner spots across Long Beach Island, but there's just something extra special about the Gables.
Our weekend get away included dinner at The Gables. Exceptional experience! Food and service was of the highest quality. We're more drawn to Cape May, but for a quick get away this was convenient. Now we found a great place to revisit.
Everything about The Gables exceeded expectations. Located in the historic district, this Victorian style building sits on a beautiful street and welcomes you with a gorgeous entrance. It's BYOB so we brought a fabulous wine selection to go with our meal. The pre fixe menu is $98 for standard items so very reasonable given the quality of the food and experience. My wife and I were joined by my brother and sister-in-law and we all ordered something different. I was very impressed with both of the appetizers, one being an Asian influenced and other Italian. Both were incredibly fresh and flavorful. For dinner, I got the duck and my wife ordered the pork chop. Portion sizes were decent and meat was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the cheesecake desert. Overall, the best dining experience I've had in LBI.
Perfectly enchanting ambiance with gracious hosts, excellent food, and near everything beach haven has to offer. The most romantic stay in LBI.
Absolutely Devine!!! The Gables Historic Inn is the epitome of fine dining and Long Beach Island’s well deserved gem. The Victorian styled inn is tucked away in a beautifully manicured garden full of precious and exotic plants right next to the beach. I was served generous portions of food with Show stopping presentations. I had the crab cake, seared duck with raspberry sticky rice (still dreaming about it) and the lemon cheese cake-paired with one of their refreshing dessert wines. This restaurant gets 6 out of five stars, they seriously blew my expectations away. What really sold me on this place was the service, though, My server Alex went above and beyond to satisfy all of my desires and made me feel like a true Rockefeller. He even let me take home some of their delicious, fresh house made bread, still warm might I add! If you’re spending some time in the LBI area and want to add a splash of elegance to your vacation, then Gables is the place to go!
Last night was our second time back at the Gables and we are looking forward to the third. This restaurant is clearly the best of the best on LBI both in food and service. Every dish is meticulously prepared and presented and the taste lives up to the anticipation. The setting is perfect for any special occasion or just a fun night out. This is a place not to miss when visiting LBI as you won’t be disappointed.
We met up with friends for dinner and stayed the night. The Gables is so warm and inviting with such a welcoming upon approaching the property with beautiful landscape. We immediately felt welcomed. The hosts and staff deliver the highest level of hospitality. Dinner was delicious. Food quality and presentations are top notch. The room we stayed in was beautifully designed, very detailed. Great amenities and so comfortable. We can’t wait to return. A must see at the Jersey Shore!!!
We got married on Long Beach Island in September and had our rehearsal dinner at The Gables - Sarah and the team were incredibly helpful from the start, helping us to make a reservation for a large party and working with us through every question and detail. We had dinner in the garden and it was nothing short of magical - the food, as always, was exceptional, service was excellent, and the setting so gorgeous. Highly recommend!
This a top notch fine dining experience you don’t want to miss!! The food was so delicious. We did the $98 prefix dinner menu for mother’s day and it perfect. My mom had a wonderful experience as did the rest of the party. Doggy bags on the entree portion to make it to our desserts. Our server Kaitlyn was great, she knew the menu inside and out and checked in accordingly throughout our meal. The building and decor is beautiful as well! We’ll definitely visit again!
The atmosphere, from the moment you step inside, is welcoming and peaceful. The hostess was welcoming and quickly sat us at a table surrounded by gorgeous flowers. Our server was amazing with recommendations and we even met the owner, Sondra. Food was delicious, start to finish and the best part was not feeling rushed. Its so nice to just sit, enjoy the vibe and the people around you. Thank you, The Gables, for a very enjoyable evening.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A magical experience from start to finish! The Gables in Beach Haven is truly one of the most enchanting places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment you step onto the beautifully manicured grounds, you’re transported into a world of timeless elegance, warmth, and care. Sandy and Steve, the owners, are absolute gems—gracious, attentive, and genuinely passionate about every detail. Their love for what they do shines through in every corner of the inn and every course served at the restaurant. What truly sets The Gables apart, though, is the staff. Every team member we encountered was professional, warm, and clearly took pride in making guests feel special. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a dream wedding venue, or just a memorable dining experience at the Jersey Shore, The Gables is a five-star treasure. I can’t recommend highly enough.
My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner at The Gables. The service was terrific and the food was delicious! I highly recommend the lobster roll appetizer and the Chilean Sea Bass - both out of this world. And, do yourself a favor, and enjoy a bit of the fresh bread!!
The Gables is an outstanding gem in downtown Beach Haven. A quality chef who rivals any New York fine dining, the curated interior, and personalized attention with experienced service, creates an experience that we find no where else in Philadelphia or New York. We had a bone-in filet mignon which is the best we've ever had, and we are very picky and cook specialized cuts at home frequently (we rarely prefer steaks out). The appetizers were similarly outstanding. Due to liquor laws, it is mainly byob (or their single label offered), which we love because we love to bring our own wine. There is a wine/beer/liquor store two blocks away (Rommels) that has a very good selection of all. Open until January 1st then reopens at Easter. Don't miss an opportunity.
We retreated by the wait staff as though we're the only patrons in the restaurant. The delivery of the food was prompt the food was amazing and the wine choices were excellent too. We were not rushed and it was as comfortable and as beautiful as you could hope for.
We’ve been going for years for dinner while on lbi. The food is consistently good but not outstanding. The atmosphere rivals the food and everything else. Good service as well. Just wish the food blew us away due to this absolute stunning atmosphere but unfortunately it just falls short in flavors, sauces and quality but everything else is as good as it gets. Atmosphere 10/10 Service 9/10 Cuisine 7/10
Having been to many fine dining establishments, this one misses the mark on a 5 star rating. Although the restaurant itself is beautiful, the food leaves more to be desired. Service is okay, but for a fine dining experience you would expect glasses of wine/water to be refilled, crumbs cleaned off the table etc. the table next to us mentioned that dessert was the best part, and we agreed. However, dessert should be the cherry on top of everything else being equally delicious. It looks like two years ago it was $98 a person.. it seems that they just keep hiking the price but not changing other elements that are required of those spending $400+ on a dinner for two. Glad that we went, but probably won’t be returning.
Our waiter was great and the setting is beautiful. The food was awful and it was by far the worst meal we've had on the island. This was shocking considering it's one of the more "high-end" restaurants here. Every place we've been to in LBI is better and literally half the price. If you want a nice room to sit in and nothing else, this is your place.
Let me start off by saying the location and atmosphere is amazing, which is why I chose to bring my girlfriend here for her birthday, to a dinner which I was planning to propose to her. Everything was great until the filet’s were brought out, at this point we had already been here for about an hour and a half, which was totally fine, we were conversing and taking in the romantic ambience. By the time the steaks came out we were particularly hungry, so we dug in, we both ordered medium rare and mine was great, but by the time my girlfriend was about half way through she started having trouble cutting the steak, so we took a closer look, and we were horrified, her steak was practically raw in the middle! We understand these things happen, but when we told our server, she just told us that it happens sometimes and offered us just a free coffee. The mood was absolutely ruined and any chance of me proposing at this lovely restaurant was definitely out the window. Very upsetting, especially due to the price point. When you’re paying this much for a meal, you expect a certain level of quality, and it just wasn’t there. Very disappointing and disheartening, between the servers and whoever cooked the steak, you need to do better, especially when charging $98 per person with a $42 supplemental cost for said steak. You expect these things to happen at Outback, not here.
Had dinner there nov 30, looked forward to it,but was very disappointed ☹️ small portions and a price fixed menu of $120 pp appy, entree and dessert. I had An average salad, a miniature lobster tail and one fatty short rib, called surf and turf, a small pastry dessert.service was good but ended up costing $320. I will never go back, it’s a ripoff 🥴🥴 ps: bread was excellent
I've eaten at the Gables numerous times over the years with family and friends. Last night was the worst meal I had ever had at the Gables. Started with the server being rude, too much in rush to get our order, not paying g attention to our request. When the meal arrived, oh by the way was the very well known bone in filet which was cook as through the chef had never grilled before in his life. The meat was terribly charred burn, I'm still having that terrible taste in my mouth as I write this review. Server was no where to found so we could make return or changes. Manager and owner showed compensation for a very expensive poorly made dinner. I am very disappointed at the performance of Gables.
