Jerusalem Organic Kitchen Berkeley Reviews
Giant filling, fresh chicken swharma wrap. Large amount and fair price
Everything here is good but I’m fan of their hummus, a must try for everyone.
We live in this neighborhood and if you know the North Shattuck and Northbrae Neighborhoods, there is no shortage of walkable dining. We just love Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for a consistently well prepared meal, friendly staff, and really good ingredients! They serve a quick, casual, healthy, and absolutely delicious meal. Everything we have tried is great with balanced seasonings. My personal favorite is the Shawarma Platter. Don't miss the perfectly prepared salmon platter with a generous serving of salmon that won't set you back an arm and a leg. The salad with chicken shawarma on top is great too. And they, of course, prepare a great middle eastern platter and falafel platter. And if all you want is a sandwich or burger - you won't be disappointed. Get the idea? We like their food and for good reason - they don't try to be all things to all people - they do middle eastern cuisine and do it really well. Try it - you'll like it!
The food is different, very tasty. The staff is all friendly and welcoming. My family and I really enjoyed it. We will definitely come to you again.
My wife and I shared a falafel, Jerusalem salad, and wild salmon platter. Serving we very generous. Excellent flavors. Really good hummus, falafel and salad. Salmon was well cooked and seasoned. Tahini sauce had a nice light flavor. Service was friendly and quick. Place was very clean.
Always fast, friendly, delicious. Best French fries in the Bay Area, sometimes I go just for the fries! Fresh falafels. All organic. Very tasty and always reliable. Big portions. Try the falafel wrap.
I've only had a falafel wrap but I am very satisfied with it. Big enough for two small meals, good crunchy falafel, lots of lettuce and tomato, sweet but not too sweet sauce, and a great price for the area. Has 3 two-person tables outside, in addition to the indoor seating. I shall return. Prices on third party apps seem notably higher than ordering in person. Apr 2024: I just had the lamb burger and holy carp, it's really good. Juicy and well-seasoned. Part of that is the hot sauce I let them put on, but I think not all. Patty maybe 6-8 oz, it had heft. Kofta wrap good, mini platter good, shawarma good; cheeseburger meh.
Excellent customer service, they put care into prepping meals and never fail to satisfy. Hands down best fries around. 10/10
Wow! Plentiful amount of food and oh soo tasty!!! I had heard their falafels are amazing. So when my BF and I wanted to try a new restaurant, I suggested Jerusalem Kitchen. Then we came on here to see the reviews. I hesitated because the score was only 4.5. My BF said let's go anyway. So happy he persisted because the food is amazing!!! We got a sample platter with lamb, chicken, hummus and salad. Then we ordered a side of rice. He got a falafel wrap. When they brought the food out, I practically hollered at the amount they put in our container. It was filled to the brim. Then I took a bit and ohhh it was so good!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back. Get the almond bars as desert. They are really yummy. As I ordered some after dinner, the guy told me they have been in business for 20 years and everything is made fresh everyday. You can tell. Plus the spices they put on everything is delicious!!!!
Only took 5 minutes to prepare a veggie wrap. The wrap was grilled, had a nice light brown crisp. the babaganoush and hummus with the veggies and greens tasted great, super fresh and herby. And the portion? Very satisfying for a tall guy such as myself! $10, super worth it.
Perfect atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend when craving falafe. The hostess Natasha is the bomb amazing service :)
Been going to Jerusalem for several years. In my opinion they make the best wraps in Berkeley/Albany/EC. The falafel and chicken wraps are the best in town. And it’s cheap which is even better. Where in the Bay Area can you have a great meal for $10?
I've been coming with my family to Jerusalem Organic for the better part of two decades. The food is always excellent, the folks there treat us like family, and the atmosphere is cozy and tidy; it is a gem of a restaurant.
This place is excellent. I almost always order the Jerusalem falafel but the other items are great too. Best lemonade around, lots of flavor and not overly sweet and baklava his fresh and light.
Just moved from NYC and miss my local falafel spot. Excited to have found my new local spot in Berkeley! Loved the mezze platter with fresh and flavorful tabbouleh, baba ganoush and crispy and falafel. Nice family that runs the place too. Will be going back very soon :)
I have been going to Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for years and the place is really good. It is not your typical falafel place and well worth a visit, but be prepared for something a little different. I particularly recommend the lamb sandwiches or plates and all the salads. The kids loved the burgers when they were little, so I could bring them there and indulge my need for spicy goodness. They are now teenagers and we still all enjoy the food and eat there regularly. The place is run by some great folks and it is definitely kid friendly. Check out Solano Ave while you are there, it is one of the lesser known gems of Berkeley. I am writing this after all these years, in part at least, in response the “my stomach hurts” review. You have got to be kidding: the place is not organic because your stomach hurts if you eat anything that is not organic? Well, my head hurts when I hear unscientific nonsense from self-absorbed people…
I've been going here for years the and the food has always been consistently delicious. Am always extremely happy with how tasty and filling the meals are. Would strongly recommend the lamb shawarma wraps!
This is a very nice, affordable restaurant with quality food. I always feel really good after eating here, good portions, good amount of spice, wild fish, healthy offerings. They are a nice family owned business too, worthy of supporting. I try to go whenever I'm in the area.
Small, relaxed and totally authentic Isralie food cuisine. I had an enormous, delicious and beyond reasonably priced assorted appetizer platter on my first and only visit; however the next time I'm in the North Bay I look forward to returning.
This spot is fantastic. I tried the Mediterranean Plate with Falafel and it was incredible. The portion was generous, and the salad that came with it was fresh, filling, and packed with vegetables. Every bite was satisfying, and I left completely happy.
Just look how good it looks! Tastes even better! If I didn’t want to save money I’d come here on the daily
Dude! Didn’t have high expectations for this place, stopped in on a bike ride completely famished and everything was SO good. Well seasoned salad, crunchy from the z’atar. Some of the most fresh and creamy hummus I’ve had in a while. The felafel was perfect too, crunch on the outside, soft in the middle. Everything combined was just such a fresh, filling, and enjoyable meal. I’d be back to try more for sure!
This place is awesome. Got the Mediterranean Plate with Falafel. Absolutely delicious, and a TON of food. Was happy that the salad included was hearty and full of veggies. Healthy and yummy! Plus, the food was ready in just a few minutes. Highly recommend.
Hands down, one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've ever been to outside the Mediterranean. Their beef skewer, babagonush, and falafel are sick!
Friendly and kind tasty great for launch and dinner I would say I had the chicken Shawarma plate with rice and hummus Israelí/Palestinian cuisine , Palestinian/Israeli cuisine, I very much Enjoyed .
FINALLY a place that serves falafel as it should be served- warm and fresh. Will definitely be back again

The "lentil carrot soup" was incredibly delicious—perfect for warming you up from the inside and leaving you feeling cozy and content. The "Jerusalem Falafel wrap" was also packed with flavor, especially when paired with the vibrant red sauce they served. As a thoughtful touch, they even included complimentary falafels! Bonus: it’s a great spot for a dog-friendly lunch.
Wonderful, fresh food. The falafel wraps are the bomb and huge. Possibly the best fries in town. Always consistent. And the crew are always kind and warm. Love this place.
Very cute place on the corner. We had the lamb and chicken platter combo and the salmon platter as well as the falafel wrap. All super good. Very glad we stopped here. Satisfied with this meal! Great service and the food is fresh and delicious with big portions.
I had such a great experience at Jerusalem Organic Kitchen! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and full of variety. I wasn’t super familiar with the menu, but the staff was so kind and helpful in guiding me through options and making recommendations. Everything I tried was amazing (seriously, OMG I loved it!) and I left already thinking about what I want to try next time. Between the great service and the yummy food, I can’t wait to come back!
This place is so delicious and they are so kind! One of the best restaurants in the east bay, hands down. Great vegan and veggie options.
I will always recommend this business. The food is awesome and service is one of a kind. A true mom and pop. My family has been coming here since my husband and I first started dating and now we’re on baby number three. We always get the Jerusalem falafel wrap and usually some combination of their other delicious dishes. The food is consistently delicious after all these years and I highly recommend you give them a try!

Falafel and mezze platters as well as the falafel wrap are top.lunch picks for me when I'm in the area .i love how they sprinkle like zatar on the salad .they put just the rite amount of olive oil on top of the hummus , and there hot sauce and tahini are superb. Good Middle Eastern food. Staff are very friendly and helpful, service is super fast. Menu items are overpriced, due to location of the restaurant. Menu doesn’t have dairy free food, but on request they can prepare for you. There are many roadside paid parking spots, for free spots, you need to walk.
Small place. Authentic food. Fast service. And value for money. We went their around three weeks ago and the food was really nice. They have large portions. We tried their falafel platter and lamb platter. In that we really liked the dip they served and the flavored rice.la was really delicious and flavorful. We also tried the sweet hallwa. It was very nutty and tasty. Will definitely go again.🙂👍
I was pleased with the food quality, prices, and portions. The lamb was a bit dry, but it made up in flavor. The winner were the falafel and hummus. Make sure to try their hummus sampler, it's worth it!
I really thought this restaurant was very good kind of a hole in the wall restaurant.at the very top of Solano Avenue Small dining room saw a lot of takeout orders people ordered on line coming in to pick up their food. once I ordered my food. it came very quickly I had the combination skewers platter it was very tasty all at reasonable price .
Tasty food and good prices. The falafel wrap is large enough to share if you're not too hungry. Or share it and get some side dishes. The tabouleh is remarkably good - all parsley with a little bulghar, tomatoes, and cucumber. The French fries are large, golden brown, and crispy. They are generous if you ask for extra hot sauce. You should really ask for extra hot sauce! It's not too hot and has Harissa, making it a little smoky and quite addictive. The baklava is shipped from Detroit (probably Shatila Bakery, but I didn't ask).

I liked the food, definitely tasty, and serving size is good. Note that online menu is badly outdated though, as well as most of google review pics. Wraps are $13-15 and meat platters $18-20 plus $3 rice. There’s plenty of other nice choices in this price range in Berkeley.
This place was so delicious!! The atmosphere was really amazing. I felt under dressed to be honest! Service was good and just about everything on the menu was amazing. Pita was amazing. I got the beef skewers with pearl couscous. Pearl couscous was AMAZING! Beef skewer was also yummy. I tried the Moussaka and that was phenomenal, I don’t usually like eggplant but I really enjoyed that. I also tried the halloumi for the first time and that was yummy to taste!! Really rich tho I’m not sure if I could’ve done the whole meal.

Well I went there and didn't not enjoy my visit I ordered a falafel walked in and the guy said oh here you go here's one and I was kind of confused because I had just ordered it and he said oh no it's really fresh somebody canceled their order so he gave me somebody else's falafel sandwich that I don't know how old it was I was extremely disappointed I won't go back. It wasn't even really warm or all that tasty.
Food is ok , lentil soup nothing special for $7. The lady owner is never friendly. Tried to pay with cc (or debit card) and was told to "add pita" to reach the $10 min. Not posted anywhere. Well, I don't want pita thanks. I understand every small business is struggling but doesn't hurt to be nice to customers.
We were excited to try different Middle Eastern restaurant, and result was very disappointing. My husband got stomachache about 1 hour after having food there. I have resilient stomach, but I have stomach within 3 hours. The reviews both on yelp and google are great, but we weren’t lucky
Not authentic, but Russian eatery per the owner, very dry food, and I found hair in the chicken wrap never coming here.
Quite possibly the worst Mediterranean food I’ve had. Not sure what people see in this place, but the babaganoush had a saccharin taste reminiscent of bad deli macaroni salad, the hummus was completely bland, likewise with the tabouli salad, which rested upon greens that suffered from more than a few of its family members being well past their sell date. Additionally, the hot sauce was also a victim of a sugary theme. Finally, while I get the convenience of using them, every utensil and container was made from plastic. I’d like to think that there are better alternatives than single use plastic products. Needless to say, I’ll never be visiting this place again.
Service was terrible. Food was cold and I even found hair in my food! Their so-called Israeli Hummus tasted like potatoes. Very unfriendly staff and place looked unsanitary.
"Thank you, have a nice day." This is the worst bag ive ever had for a DD meal. This is so flimsy, it speaks more about the business thab it does about the chef. How dare you pack my meal in this flimsy bag so I can eat perfume a la doordash. You lost me for life, that and your bad salads.
