Viñedo Donato Bernal Reviews
Great tour of a small vineyard that produces really lovely wines
This is a great winery on the rout of wine, cheese, and art. Donato started out as a resistant years ago with their own beef grown on the property. They have expanded and created a winery with a great vibe. People here seemed so much happier than at other wineries around. They only grown a few grapes on site but have land locally where they grow the rest plus they have a partnership with Baja California for some of their wine blends. The tour was nice, everything is modern and new. The cellar is very cool. I don’t think they make the wine on site ( go to De Cote for that tour), and I think they have the best tasting wine in the area. Rodrigo was our tour guide and he was great, knowable, honest, and passionate about his work. This place is worth a visit, especially in the evening and night tour. Their hours are longer than most wineries so you can enjoy wine a sunset and a view of the Peña. Safe this winery for dinner as well as the meat is great here.
It's a beautiful place, I can't talk about the tour of the vineyard or the wine tasting since I only went to eat at the restaurant and it's delicious, if you order a cocktail they go with a drinks cart and they prepare them in front of you, the meat cuts are very good and the ribs are incredibly delicious, but definitely not a cheap place. From what I could see the vineyard is still a bit small as I think they haven't been in business that long but, the main building is very nice and photogenic.
A very beautiful, elegant place with tasty cuisine. Very good to spend some hours with a big company. It looks that the winery was only established to open the restaurant and not to sell wine at first place.
This was our third winery, and though it had the best wine, the atmosphere and experience were lacking. We sat outside in the open. They have white tables, benches, and umbrellas for seating. Since there is no wait staff, you have to move the table and chairs yourself to get some protection from the sun. You order food and drink at the counter, and they buzz you when the order is ready. The view of the vineyard is limited due to it being elevated. I am sure it is gorgeous from the second floor restaurant, but we did not check it out. I wonder if I can order the wine online and have it shipped because I don't think I will return.
This place is pretty amazing! The views are wonderful. I highly recommend taking the tour and learning more about the history of Donato. The wine was some of the best I've ever tasted. My only complaint is there way too many kids, lots of families with children and babies. Babies. It really kills the vibe and pretty uncomfortable considering majority of people are constantly drinking. Just makes it kind of awkward to sit and enjoy your wine and there's a bunch of kids running around.
The wine cellar was the star, and the wine was absolutely delicious. Our tour guide was so informative and pleasant. However, the 2 brothers manding the pizza counter had attitudes that stunk as much as the manure filled air. Although, it was easier to ignore the smell than their attitudes.
They say it’s pet friendly but you cannot go to the bathroom if you are by yourself. Luckily I was with my partner. We wanted to buy food either from the snacks area or the restaurant we didn’t mind as long as we could have a wine tasting - we really wanted to perhaps buy a couple of bottles but they had no wine tasting option paid for or free - we left very disappointed as we were ready to have a nice meal, drink wine and take some bottles with us. However, this brand has now made me an anti- customer rather a loyal one.
We were denied entry because we brought wine glasses from home that were not from their winery. We went to two other wineries that day and they had no issue. I asked to speak with the manager but the doorman refused. Poor service and attitude.
Beautiful place but I came here on a tour and they served us a white Sauvignon white which was horrible. It was very dry and they didn’t offer any other wine. Bad wine doesn’t want me to pay for their other wines. Very elegant but I doubt anything else they serve would be worth it. The guide was boring and wasn’t enthusiastic.
