Crazy Cajuns is a cozy place to stop in for lunch or dinner. I went with a sampler to get a feel for the menu and each selection was delicious; great for when you can't decide.

Oh cher, this the real deal! Crazy Cajuns Boiling Pot earns the stamp of approval from this southern Louisiana cajun girl. My personal favorite is the blackened shrimp with a side of gouda grits. The gumbo’s not my mom’s, but it’s still pretty darn good. And the crawfish!!!! Makes my heart happy to know I have a piece of home right here in Birmingham. Feels like I’m back in the swamp every time I go to Crazy Cajuns. P.S. One of the servers brought us some boiled peanuts last time we went. I never turn down boiled peanuts, especially gas station ones, but these were boiled in seafood boil! Cleared out my sinuses so eat with caution 🤣

Just ordered on doordash. The seafood etoufee, seafood rotini, mash potatoes, and red beans and rice. The mash potatoes are the best mash potatoes i ever had in my life coming from someone from the south. Everything tastes great in its own right! Its a little spicy but not overwhelming. Seafood rotini paired with the mash potatoes is a great combo. Ive lived in Louisiana when i was younger and have had authentic Cajun food and this is close to it!

Wonderful place for authentic Cajun food. You can always tell a place is good based on the how busy it is. Food was authentic and served piping hot. Also, the waitress (Lulu) was the hardest working server I have ever seen. She runs back and forth with all these hot liquid dishes with a great big smile or her face. I estimate she is doing the work of 3 people... When you walk in, you are immediately hit by all the rich, delicious smells from the kitchen. I ordered the BBQ shrimp plate. For those you are not familiar, this is a butter based sauce with Cajun seasoned shrimp served with bread (see picture). It is not what people traditionally think of BBQ. An absolute must visit if you are in Birmingham traveling south on 280. Not only will I be back, I plan on entertaining business colleagues here as well.

I HAVE to stop by every time I come to Birmingham. Food is always fantastic. Cajun outside New Orleans at it's best. I strongly suggest the seafood rotini.

Okay this was absolutely amazing! I sat outside it was beautiful weather. By the way on Thursdays they have a guy that comes to play guitar from between 5:30 and 7:30 I think The food was absolutely to die for, it was great I got the seafood platter and with it came a side which I got jalapeno black eyed peas. Also got a little bowl of gumbo, it was amazing. Great food great Cajun style great taste, the server was really really really really really really friendly she was really really really kind, This place is phenomenal. I'm glad to know that it's not too far down the road! The restaurant was really clean there wasn't dishes everywhere. There was no trash everywhere there was no trash on all the tables, it was a clean store, and it's got a great authentic Cajun look and smell, it was great!

I have eaten here in many occasions and each and every time the food was delicious. I got what they called the Crazy Cajun Poboy that was their version of the roast beef Poboy they made with pork roast. I found the chunks of meat to be a little large but manageable. The flavor was very good. I have in the past gotten the crawfish Poboy and enjoyed it greatly. Others in my party got other dishes they also enjoyed. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal.

The rotini, gator, fish, pickles, grits, crawfish….EVERYTHING is delicious!!! You won’t find a better staff or more hospitable owners! There’s a reason they’ve been in business for 25+ years.

I stop here every now and then for lunch since I work across the street and I have not had a bad experience yet. I'm a little disappointed I never come on days they have crawfish etouffee so it's always shrimp. The shrimp etouffee is delicious though so I'm always happy with it. My service today was great she was very attentive always right there when I needed anything and got me in and out within 20 mins I was very happy and impressed...

The shrimp was blackened, the jambalaya was spicy, and the music was just right. We really enjoyed sitting outside eating delicious cajun food while listening to the smooth sounds of one Jerry Robbins. We came just to hear him and discovered a great restaurant. We'll be back for sure. You're welcome to join us... just leave the table next to Jerry open for my family. If you enjoy great music, please like this review and drop a generous tip in Jerry's tip saxophone.

If you like crawfish, this is the place to go. They do a great job of balancing spice, not too much that you want to die, but it is for sure present. Insider tip: I heard the waiter say that crawfish come in on Tuesday’s and fridays, so that’s the best day to go in and get the freshest tasting crawfish.

Food was amazing. Had the entree combo, with chicken and sausage gumbo, etouffee, and cheddar smoked gouda grits. Rounded it all off with the bread pudding. Everything was excellent. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area.

Was visiting from California. Had snow crab and royal reds with fried pickle appetizer. Had a couple hollow snow crab legs and brought to the owners attention. Without hesitation he brought me a new cluster. Great customer service and Great atmosphere.

The shrimp had poop in every shrimp, it took away the experience for my first time. I will never return again. You can see all the black poop in the edge of the container.

If this is what the people on 280 think Cajun seafood is supposed to taste like, I'm glad I dont live anywhere around here. Ordered the half shrimp platter to go. Got to my office and the shrimp was so over cooked you could not get the peel off of it. Im not sure the seasoning used but something had a strange smell. Was able to get 3 shrimp peeled and eaten before feeling sick. Wasted $21. Won't be back.

The gumbo was overly spicy and had a texture more like rice and gravy, lacking the traditional flavor profile. I ordered the catfish platter, and when I asked the waitress about the fish, I pointed out that catfish shouldn’t be pink. Fish was cut like chicken strips. The french bread was hard as a brick with melted margarine. The shrimp etouffee tasted overwhelmingly of black pepper, as if an entire bottle of McCormick's had been used. I sent the entire plate back and still had to pay for it. When I raised the issue, the waitress mentioned she wasn’t a manager and that nothing could be done. Overall, the food didn’t live up to its name, and there was nothing authentically Cajun about it. As a visitor from Louisiana, I was disappointed. I would rate it 0 stars.
