This place is great. Nice atmosphere and plenty of seating. We had a great time there.
Staff was courteous and attentive. Drinks were really good, I had the peach med margarita.
El Vecino is the most authentic Mexican food I have had outside of Mexico. Food is EXCELLENT so is the service.
My husband and I were craving Mexican food today, being that we are on the road for our Honeymoon this coming weekend. The service was friendly, fast and we got great food! The quality was there, it was better than what I was expecting for what we ordered & I'd say we got a slightly above average amount of food, too. Bookmarked- we'll be stopping by again. 😁❤️
The most splenderiferously delectable feast in months at El Vecino Mexican located in Forestdale, Alabama. When we discovered this paradise in September 2020 I chose the Shrimp Primavera. Today my dining companion and I were treated to freshly cooked, crispy warm tortilla chips salsa and queso. I ordered the Shrimp Primavera, again, with sweet tea. My partner went for sizzling beef fajitas and a diet beverage. The beef, onions and peppers sizzled on a platter along with a plate of rice, cheese, tomatoes, refried beans, lettuce and three soft warm flour tortillas wrapped in foil. Medium Frozen lime margarita. Edit April 8, 2025 Mango Margarita Horchata Steak Quesidillas and Camarones Diablas Yum! Great service and food fit for Gods!
Bowtie Pasta at a Mexican Restaurant doesn't sound normal but it was really good. Chips and Pico are always fresh. My salmon was cooked well and needed citrus, a dab of salt and garlic. Veggies and potatoes needed a light seasoning. We had waters and a small frozen mango something liquor was on the light side
Great experience! Friendly staff and a very cozy vibe
First time here and it didnt disappoint! Only thing was, the rice and chicken (from fajita) could have been more seasoned. Our waitress, it was her birthday, and she was the sweetest thing! We asked for the spicest sauce they had, and i wish we couldve gone hotter! Thanks for a great time and Happy Bday! O
The food was great although they got the order wrong and brought my daughter a burnt hamburger. The drinks were good and so was the taco salad. Can't really say it was a friendly or welcoming atmosphere.
Had lunch here today. Pretty good! The margaritas were "ok". The fajitas were tasty! I had #63 (shrimp, chicken and beef). Service was quick! Update: Back here in June 23.... had regular beef nachos. Service was terribly slow today. We were in a party of 7. Took forever to get service. Food was still tasty. This time I tried a Margo-corona. It was better than a regular margarita.
My girlfriend and I went for the first time. It's legit seven minutes away from the house. There was wheelchair accessible parking. The restroom was tiny; however, accessible. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered a queso dip (small) and had it sent back. The cheese tasted burnt. The salsa is fresh and homemade. I ordered a quesa-birria and a side of rice. I got full quickly off of one birria. My Arnold Palmer was delicious. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp al mojo de ajo. She stated that the seasoning was great! We had lunch for work the next day. The salsa is also fresh and homemade. This may be our new spot to get Mexican.
The staff was rude and our waitress was filthy. I’ve worked in food service and it’s no reason to look like that when the restaurant just opened. They made my Margarita incorrect and the argued with me that it was correct. When I told them I didn’t want it and I’ll order something else, they told me I can’t order a different drink. The margarita tasted like bath water. My friend order chips and salsa as her meal (she doesn’t eat meat) and they refused to give her a basket of chips because of some chips policy they have. She ended up having to pay $7 for a bag of chips and they wouldn’t bring them to her at the table they made her go to the Togo stand and get them in a bag. Needless to say, with all the Mexican Restaurants on the parkway I WILL NEVER RETURN here.
I'm so pissed never had an issue since I have been ordering from them today and it's official I will never eat from the restaurant again. My Tamale wasn't cooked which I currently have in the oven cooking. I didn't call to ask for a raw tamale when I placed my order. I did upload a pic to show. My steak carne asada the lime was old as heck when I squeezed it wasn't no juice as if it been sitting laying out for days no juice at all luckily I had some lime juice in my fridge on top of that the steak meat on the taco tasted as it been under a warmer all day and dried out. My husband said they piled sour cream all over is taco which he never requested extra sour cream.
The few times I have been here they have seemed to be busy. The food is at best B- . I'm not 1 to be mean but after this .. Finding a piece of steel scrub pad in my chile relleno and them not seeming to care as they said of its just a piece of aluminum wich it is not and not offering to do any thing or ask if they could even get me some thing else as I did not eat any more for the fear of eating some thing with out knowing it ... Will not be back
