Seeds Coffee Co. - Homewood Birmingham Reviews
This is my go-to coffee shop. Great coffee and super fresh breakfast with a great atmosphere to hang out and get a bit of work or reading done. They also buy coffee beans that are sourced from smaller farms all around the world and roast them in house. I buy all my beans from them for making coffee at home!! Not only is it a great place to hang out and have a brew, they also support the community and give back to nonprofits and local clubs! Seeds is the best!!!
Kindest employees, fantastic yogurt and granola bowl. I was short 45 cents and they were so quick to help out. The atmosphere is unbeatable, there is always lots of people here- and for several good reasons! One of my favorites in Birmingham, if not my favorite.
Stopped on a road trip - great coffee ! A bit of a line but they cranked em out pretty good. Got an iced van latte, an iced mocha and egg+avocado toast. Lots of seating options inside and out and friendly staff. Loved seeing the barista use a scale for every espresso shot - I'm guessing you can trust a consistent cup here 😀
When recommending locally-owned coffee shops to Bham visitors, this is always first on my list. First of all - highest quality coffee at all levels: from single origin espresso to fun seasonal drinks. The food menu keeps getting better and better too; pic below is my first experience of the breakfast burrito 💯 and once a month, get to chicken biscuit Saturday if you can, but get there early because they always sell out. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, and the best staff in town.
Without a doubt, the best coffee shop in the entire city. Relaxing atmosphere, fresh made food, perfect coffee, friendly service. It’s an easy 5/5 for me. The biscuits are homemade but they are very large so be prepared for that. The sausage egg and cheese was awesome. The muffin was fluffy and delicious as well. We will be back when we are in the area again.
I don’t venture to too many places . I have missed this spot since moving here . Always thinking. I wish it was a good coffee place around I could walk to etc sit be okay . Finally saw seeds again decided to go in after minutes in the car prepping myself . They have tons of open space to dine with shade as well . So I could be off to the side alone . The bathroom is clean. I don’t have a baby but I appreciate the changing table . It was a low buzz of ppl talking laughing , dishes clanking . Walking in the smell wasn’t over powering( but more of uhm let me get closer . I got the Carmel latte and avocado biscuit sandwich which came to about 14 dollars and change plus tip 21 dollars . Oh for any weebs and geeks there are a lot of poke stops and gyms here . Just around the corner is patriot park more poke stops and gyms . Also I don’t pictures of food so anyone who wanted to see before hand 🤣🤣 oops I ate it and drank it lol that’s what was left . The biscuits are filling yummy the eggs are great as well . I’m not sure who could eat such a big fluffy biscuit in one sitting you’ll be full all day
I’ve been wanting to visit this coffee shop for a while and it did NOT disappoint 😍 the coffee is probably the best I can think of in the area. It wasn’t too sweet or too bitter and it just had a wonderful depth of flavor! I got an iced caramel latte and ordered some food to-go as well. I got the breakfast bowl with sausage and a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. All of the food was so fresh and tasty as well. This coffee shop really stands out amongst the rest. The inside was airy but also cozy with plenty of seating. I can’t wait to go back for a study day when I start my classes back!
Once you have exceptional coffee, you're always looking for it again. You can't ever really know from the outside if making amazing coffee is important to a shop until you go in. Today I started my day off with coffee that is as good and you can get. Seeds is special and from the line that formed right at opening, I'd say many people from Birmingham already know where their best coffee resides. If you're into coffee and you're anywhere close to Birmingham, you need to make the time. Thank you Seeds for such a great experience. I had the iced cold brew and the cinnamon honey latte.
Just a wonderful experience. The atmosphere reminds one of a Seattle or NYC cafe. Hip, energetic, wonderful smells, kind people - just great beginning to end. Food & coffee were perfect. The avocado egg on a homemade biscuit were the perfect accompaniment to the coffee. Lattes and drip coffees were delicious and handmade. Look forward to many more experiences here. Thanks to Jay the owner and to all the staff for a great morning.
I'm not sure how someone can take something intangible like happiness and put it into a coffee cup, but Seeds has done it. The atmosphere is so inviting and relaxing! Turning an old gas station into a patio for a coffee shop is ingenious! The employees are super helpful and friendly, and of course the coffee is delicious! Check this place out if you're in town!
At 07:30 they werent ready to serve any dishes with potatoes. What left to try was ok. The cream for my plain brew was sour and I had to ask for a fresh cup of coffee. The interior is spacious with plenty of seating either solo or with a group.
I feel like there is a need for me to update my last review which was about 4 years ago. I personally knew the previous manager and I believe he was also part owner of the shop. During that time I feel the drinks were the best, and much better atmosphere. Now they modernized the shop and make it more hipster, which in the process the quality of coffee is not the same. Feel like there isn’t enough effort to make creative latte flavors. Am I saying this place is bad? No, not at all, but I do reminisce how it used to be.
Although there are positives, it pains me to have to write this review because I know what this place is capable of doing. I lived in W. Homewood for years and made Seeds a fairly regular stop. Always consistent, fresh and delicious. I moved out of town for a year and recently moved back. I don't know what happened in the past year, but someone in the kitchen doesn't seem to be paying attention to the details. Positives: The drinks are very consistent, delicious, and well-crafted. And the vibe is cool with lots of seating options inside and out. Negatives: The food I'm most familiar with is the biscuit. It USED to be so good that I never saw the need to order anything else. Here's where they fell far short. In the last week, I've been twice. I order the scrambled egg, provolone and avocado biscuit each time. First time, not much flavor or cheese, and biscuit was just okay. I get that anyone can have a bad day so I decided to give it another try. However, today, it was worse -- no flavor (not even salt/pepper, something, anything!) and barely any cheese. But the biscuit was rock hard, (as if it were a day old), tepid, and altogether unappetizing. I was surprised this was even allowed to be served. To be clear, all the other food looks appetizing, but I haven't tried it. I hope whoever reads this takes my comments to heart and makes it better. I want to support a LOCAL coffee/breakfast spot.
The breakfast potatoes they served me this morning were the worst food I've ever had. They were somehow both soggy and crunchy at the same time. The coffee is one size only and overpriced. I would not ever return here.
Difficult to get to area. Looks interesting from the outside but was rather disappointing when I went in as it was rather loud and a weird cramped layout. My order was to go though so that wasn't really relevant to me today. What was relevant is they were out of chai tea and the coffee that I ordered with some of the worst I've ever had. The cranberry orange goat cheese scone was an epic fail as it couldn't decide if it was supposed to be sweet or savory and was just a weird combination furthermore it wasn't actually a scone, as it was very greasy and had more of a cake texture than the denser biscuit texture of a true scone from Europe. The service was decent , however, you would think when she told me they were out of chai tea she would have pointed out that they have a whole second small menu over to the right of the register in addition to what's on the menu on the wall. Because I didn't see that till after I had ordered and gotten my order I missed out on an opportunity to try something more interesting than the awful coffee. Wouldn't recommend and won't be back
Honestly, I like Seeds, and I feel a little bad for this review, but guys, I waited at the register for a good 8 minutes before someone took my order. My Pumkin muffin was good, so was my drink. Nothin fancy, just wanted to relax a little. I’m just gonna say it…. Whoever is choosing the music needs to have that responsibility removed. Heavy Trumpet Weird Jazz, so dark in the beginning I thought about calling the Crisis Center and now 30 MINUTES LATER INTO THE SONG is this weird Wild Bohemian Nightmare Fuel Symphony. Come. On. Man. I added a video. Don’t know if you can hear it but it is 2:30pm on Friday. I’m so wound up now imma have to take a zbar to regain my composure.
