Management must have changed...service is much better than the last time I needed to feed 5 people fast. Order was correct-a reason we stopped going to this Chicken E, preferring to head to Spring Branch/Bulverde if we wanted Chicken E. We will see if it lasts.
My favorite chicken place. Food is great! We travel from San Antonio, pick up our chicken, and have a picnic at Blanco State Park. Nothing to pack, just go, buy, and enjoy eating together as a family. Cheap date!

We were shooting our short, low budget film in the town of Blanco, Texas. Since we were trying to figure out how to take care of meals for the cast and crew one of our cast members approached Chicken Express Blanco in the hope of obtaining a few lunch meals. Without hesitation Chicken Express supplied lunch for our very hungry cast and crew! The chicken was absolutely fantastic, and I am looking forward to stopping by in person the next time that I am in Blanco for lunch. Thank you, thank you once again Chicken Express Blanco for helping make a local low budget film shoot a success, it was very much appreciated!

I liked it. I liked it very much. Went inside, store was clean and the cashier courteous and attentive. Having never been to a Chicken Express, I asked if there was any grilled chicken (yeah, right). So I opted for the fish fillet, hush puppies, coleslaw and green beans. Very, very good..with the coleslaw better than Cr***er Ba**el and the green beans, just as good. The fish was excellent, with plenty of cocktail sauce. As for the hush puppies, yummy, but I better put my cardiologist on speed dial before I go to bed.
A Sunday with after church crowd and a Sunday with afternoon Super Bowl does not impede the Blanco Chicken Express! Consistently, the chicken and sides reflect top quality; service always with a smile and sincere appreciation for guests choosing this destination. Thankful to have this food selection in our community!

I love Chicken Express but there’s not one in my circle of travel very often. My circuit occasionally brings me through Blanco though and life is really good then. This is my favorite Chicken Express in the world. The employees are always AWESOME. And that’s even with year long gaps and completely different employees between visits. So that means the culture is (obviously) starting at the top somewhere and being maintained. Food is always hot and fresh and delicious. I always get the #1 with a giant sweet tea and a 6 pack of extra rolls. And life goes from being just great to amazing just like that. I’m highly suspicious of any negative reviews on this place. Although we’re all human and fallible and have off days occasionally, I still don’t believe them. I wish I lived in Blanco near this Chicken Express.

Mixed feelings. Chicken strips were hard and dry, chicken thigh and corn nuggets where delicious.
I'm a local in Blanco and have a consistently good experience here. The food is prepped well and customer service is decent. The main thing I have an issue with (same as most fast food) is a lack of attention to detail and hygiene of workers. Simple fixes, but orders get messed up regularly.
The regular chicken was very good: hot/crispy. Green beans very good. Cole slaw reasonsble. Deduction because spicy is only a "tenders" option. Gizzards and lovers are also available. Will try them next time.

I hate that I buy a meal and can't get a ranch. I mean I could but I only had a debit card and they won't charge it for less than $1 and the ranch was $0.25. They did say I could change my gravy for the ranch but who really wants to do that.

Food is good. Service is slow, slow, slow! Called in for a Panther special when we are ten minutes from the restaurant. (They answered on third call finally.) Arrive, pay, and wait another ten minutes. One truck in drive through and no one in front of me picking up an order when I walk in. Don’t stop by if you are in ANY kind of hurry.
EDIT: Things are better than before here although I still have the occasional order problem. I think they got new employees that are doing a better job. The food here is usually good (except for the rolls almost always being overcooked/burnt) but the problem I have is that I almost never get what I ordered. At least half the time there is a mistake on my order. Today I ordered a roll and biscuit and got two biscuits. My receipt was right so whoever picked them just couldn't read or was in too much of a hurry. They can never decide how to charge me for simple things like sauce. Sometimes if I get sauce instead of gravy, they don't charge me. Sometimes they charge full price. Today it was half price. Sometimes they charge me for sauce and then give me gravy instead. My advice if you eat here is double check your order before you leave because there's a good chance it's not what you ordered.
I ordered a three piece chicken dinner with two sides and no drink. The sides I ordered were okra and cole slaw. When I got home, which is 14 miles away, I opened the box only to discover that I did not get my side of okra so I called and they said that they would be sure to give it to me on my next visit and they took my name down. I checked the ticket that was taped to the top of my to-go box and it had my correct order printed on it so I really don't know what the problem was. Carelessness I guess or perhaps the one who boxed up my order could not read very well. I just hope I get my full order plus the other okra that they owe me the next time I go. You can be sure that I will check my order before I leave the establishment next time and every time after that. I want to update my experience with Chicken Express in Blanco. I went back again several days after my bad experience and not only did I get my okra which I had ordered several days ago but they double-sized it. I also purchased another 3 piece chicken dinner with two sides consisting of cole slaw and french fries. The food was very good as was the service. I recommend this place if you desire good chicken meals, but if you get your order to go then be sure to check your order before you walk out with your meal. Thank you Chicken Express. Food is usually good but the wait times can kill it if you’re on your lunch break. Ive been here 20 minutes. Took about 15 to get ordered and paid and now Im still waiting after being pulled forward to the front. Like I said Food is usually good but if you dont have like 30 minutes to wait in the drive through dont come. Editing to add it’s painfully obvious which meal I was waiting for based on the temperature difference between the two. Both were chicken. I’m fine waiting but to get half of the order lukewarm is pretty disappointing. Over 30 minutes in the drive through start to finish. I really have no idea why it’s like this every single time anyone in the household goes here.

This location never has fish or livers ready cooked for to-go orders, even on a Friday or Saturday evening when most people eat out, so you have to wait 20 minutes for them to be cooked every time. Plus they NEVER EVER answer their phone so it is impossible to try and call ahead to get them started on such an order. The same complaints over and over here with no improvement. Small town options are limited and places seem to think you don't have other options and therefore do not improve the situation. Really sad.
After waiting 17 minutes at the drive thru, I went inside and asked for my order. Total of 21 minutes to get the order. The fried pickles were somewhat like chewing on beef jerky. Obviously they had been warmed up by a second trip in the grease fryer. Order # Dr - T-380. Entirely unsatisfactory experience. We’ll stick with the Hwy 46 Bulverde location in the future.
Started out great till we got our food. Lady made a scene when customers got orders confused. There was not ketchup or napkins and the lady seemed upset when me and another customer asked for both. She brought us bags of ketchup. Fries were extremely under cooked.
Girl who took our order did not understand English I told her 4 times what I wanted and she still got it wrong. Very frustrating, I know they need jobs but maybe not on the front counter!
The last 3 times I ordered unsweet tea and was served sweet tea, I'm diabetic this I can't have sugar so taking a big drink thinking that employees pay attention to orders and not deciding for me. This could be a serious situation that needs to be corrected. I understand people make mistakes put not 3 times in a row, I think employees should be trained to pay close attention to orders
Everytime time i go in to order the chicken is always raw. The employees are fude expect for this one girl with freckles. They take forever to bring out food ..... one time i was waiting for a 2 piece chicken with a roll and fries. The chicken came back raw like always took them over 30mins to bring the food out. Never eating here again in my life this place is disgusting and not worth the money. Dont eat here you will regret it.
We came to this express at 8:40. They had no hours posted on any of the doors and they had the front doors locked. When we went through the gas station to get inside they told us they were closed and continued to say that they usually stay open till 10 or 11 but they decided to close early. I understand that being after the holidays that business is slow and stores do close but at least put a sign on the door stating that y'all closed for the night, or actually post your hours.
Why does it smell like mold? Why was the tea rotten? Why was youre fountain drain covered in mold? Why were youre tenders over cooked? There was also someone who seemed to be the manager that was not in uniform and didnt care about guest. I am from out of town and our Chicken E is busy, and clean. Why cant you do the same? If I could give a zero star rating I would.
Purchased a two piece chicken combo with mashed potato and I got one undercooked piece of chicken that I couldn’t eat and Luke warm almost cold mashed potatoes. Talked with the manager about the poor quality of the food I received and all she did was stare me down without saying a word. Will not being going back to that restaurant again.
We have tried this place e 2 times now. The food is not good! Sides are always old and yuk, chicken not that great either. 1st time we got chicken meal that was way to expensive and terrible sides (over 20.00). 2nd time we only got 8 tenders for 10.00. They were small and not very good. We are done!

The worst Chicken Express I've ever been to. Avoid this place! Food: How this place managed to get a "Best Fast Food" in Blanco for 2023 is beyond me. The chicken was bland, the gravy was watery, and the sweet tea was very dirty/cloudy. The only reason I gave 2 stars for the food is that the chicken was indeed fried and the fries were hot. Service: Despite being the only customers inside, it took the staff a 10 second stare to actually come up to the counter so I could order. There was a sign placed above the plating/boxing area that was labeled "Don't Pack Unless You Have Gloves On" that was completely disregarded by the staff member who prepared our 3 meals. In addition to that, there was another staff member who was wearing CROCS. Not any kind of professional, food service approved, non-slip shoe, but CROCS. A complete and absolute disregard for health and safety standards. Atmosphere: Dead. Any kind of energy the restaurant had, was around the corner of the service counter where the 5+ staff could be heard giggling and talking to one another. They had someone sweeping outside the store, when they could've been cleaning the water stained tables and ranch cover trash can. This place is terrible and should be avoided, no matter how hungry you are.
I ordered corn nuggets and fried okra. They didn't repeat the orders back I got to the window and it was fries and okra. When they finally got the order correct the okra was overcooked. It was so crunchy it hurt my gums and roof of my mouth. Dogs enjoyed it. The napkin was on top of the okra inside the box. Who wants a greasy napkin?
Great customer service. But this place is dirty dirty dirty. And whoever owns this Chicken Express needs to stop being so cheap there chicken taste like OLD grease. I don't see this one lasting long.
On February 27, 2026 at approximately 4:03 PM, my husband entered the drive through. He then placed his order and finally paid and received his drink at 4:30 PM. After a few minutes of waiting, the lady at the window then asked him to pull forward, that they needed to drop more chicken. After waiting and watching the 3 cars in front and the 2 cars behind him receive their orders and leave, he finally got frustrated and turned his truck off and went inside. He was then met by the "Manager" Richard. My husband inquired if the wait was normal for a 12 piece family meal?. Richard responded with "We're busy, deal with it". My husband told him that he believed 40 minutes was unacceptable. Richards response "It's been 15 minutes". And apparently Richard fears no repercussions from corporate as his response to my husband saying he was gonna complain, was "And what are they gonna do?". In addition to the very rude and condescending behavior from management, the chicken that they had to "drop", was so over cooked, the meat was dry, and the skin was so hard, it was inedible. Now, after reviewing previous reviews, I am expecting the owner to respond that my husband "misinterpreted" the situation or was "mistaken" on the location. Therefore, for the viewing pleasure of the public, I am attaching photos of the receipt when he paid and the sticker off the bag when Richard brought it to him. 23 minutes from the time it was paid for to the time it was finally delivered and the chicken was OVER COOKED. Now my husband is an extremely laid back person, and will let minor inconveniences, like additional time, go with no complaints. What he cannot stomach, is unprovoked aggression and condescending attitudes. I would give this location, in Blanco Tx, zero stars if it were possible. Do better Richard, Management/Customer service classes can be found for free, online.

Not sure what they ordered, but they probably should have been asked to pull forward since it was taking that long. Food at chicken x is generally already made unless it's something made to order like the fried fish. The chicken x in Marble Falls and burnet will both walk your drinks out to you. They are also $1 for a drink at those locations. Blanco charges more for some reason. This location is terrible.
Usually one of my favorite places. 2024NOV 11th, evening. Ordered gravy with chicken to go,took it home & gravy had a water consistency and tasted more like water than gravy. Threw it out when I got home to eat. Made my own gravy.
Been to this location in Blanco Tx several times. Each time its a 20 + minute wait. Complaints to the manager " Richard" who was very rude, unprofessional and could use some customer service training. Remember you are not just representing Chicken Express, your representing yourself as a very unprofessional owner and operator. I encourage everyone to take the time to read the poor reviews along with his responses and judge for yourself. Ask yourself, is this the type of customer service you would want your grandparents or children to receive?
Went through drive thru and ordered an 8 piece all dark Family Meal. Got my order home and discovered they gave me a mixed order. Called back and explained. They apologized for the mistake and that I could come back in 10 minutes to pickup 4 pieces of dark meat as they needed to drop more chicken. I agreed and came to get the replacement pieces. They asked me for the 4 pieces of white meat. I stated I did not bring them as I was not instructed to do that. They said "it is our policy". Well on your receipt it states, "You had a choice, thanks for choosing Chicken Express". Yes I do and for your admitted mistake I am having this must hassle? I CHOOSE anything but Chicken Express is the future
Online it says they close at 7, the door says 9. Got there at 5:40. Wasn't greeted, anything we ordered, we were met with some excuse of why we couldn't have it. We gave up and left and they locked the door behind us. Never got any apologies or explanation.

Went inside to ask for honey mustard and she wanted us to pay 25 cents for it and refused to give us one for free despite the long wait and terrible service. She told me she’s the franchise owner but she can’t let go of a 25 cent sauce?? Wow, I’d rather drive to the bulverde location than ever return. She also told me this isn’t a “fast food” restaurant, why is it called chicken EXPRESS.
Went to grab a meal for dinner the other day and my order was incorrect, probably due to the inability to fluently speak english. This is the second time I've had these issues. When I spoke to someone about it they acted as if it was my issue that I didn't understand. I'm a full blooded 54 american man who speaks great english. Chicken isn't this good to get this poor of service. Maybe the owner should learn what customer service is. I've seen better service painted on used toilet paper. This establishment needs to realize we pay their bills and not the other way around. If you want to hire someone to interact with people make sure THEY aren't confused by English. 1 star is way too high for how management and ownership treats their customers. Me and mine will never be back. I will tell everyone I know never spend their hard earned dime here.
