Los Mariscos Bloomfield Reviews
Really good all around. Margaritas were great, mango and tamarindo flavor. Got the seafood empanadas, miche oysters, fish ceviche tostada, and tacos gobernador. Would recommend all of those dishes. Only annoying thing was the bogus 4% “service charge” that many places around town are doing, but can ask for it to be taken off
I found this place driving by. They have the best cóctel de camarón I’ve had in years! We tried the empanadas de camarón 10/10! Micheladas mix is also 10/10! Try the one with the paleta. Anyways I’ll be back and I hope you give it a try.
I had the chance to photograph the menu at Mariscos Los Cuates, and it was such an awesome experience! Not only was the food beautifully presented, but I also got to sample a variety of dishes—and every single one was absolutely delicious. From the fresh ceviches every bite impressed me. You can really taste the quality and care they put into their cooking. The portions were generous, and the variety on the menu is perfect for anyone who loves authentic mariscos (seafood). The staff was friendly and accommodating, making my experience even better. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or planning a full meal with friends and family, Mariscos Los Cuates is a must-visit spot if you’re craving fresh, tasty seafood!
Okay so I’ll start by saying absolutely NOTHING at Mariscos missed the mark. We started with guac - simply outstanding. Their sauce collection is nothing short wowing with bottled hot sauces + freshly made options. Prices are amazing. We grabbed the half dozen oysters with shrimp ceviche - so flavorful but seriously a behemoth of a bite in literally every bite. Tried the Salsa Verde Aguachile - spicy fresh and oh so flavorful, this was a highlight from the meal. We also tried micro tostada which had cooked seafood meat. Flavorful but nothing to rave about Place is BYOB - you bring the beer they give you. The Michelada mix and all the fix ins for a good time. The best part has to be the upbeat live music they run 6-8. Mood was jolly, food was incredible and service was impeccable. 10/0 experience - hidden gem level FORSURE
Place is amazing! Anayeli was such a great vibe! Great customer service. Made the experience so fun. We ordered a lime and cucumber and a horchata. Fresh and amazing! For appetizer we had a tostada mixta was to die for. For our main course we had a Chapuzon! Mariacos are on point. I will be back and definitely will recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Anayeli for amazing recommendations and for the great experience.
I will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu. The complimentary mini taco with a shrimp broth was delish and a perfect starter The drinks were on point! The best michelda I’ve had in a while. The shrimp cocktail was loaded with shrimp and octopus! There was also a young band playing to set the mood. This place is a must visit.
Wow what a breath of fresh air! The vibrant colors, fun decor, and inviting smiles were just what we needed on this cold Chicago day. We were greeted with a consomé and perfect homemade tortilla filled with frijoles. It was the perfect welcoming hug! We ordered the seafood boil and it was packed with shrimp, crab, and crab legs…AND so much sausage. Really appreciated that! We ordered the Momias which are bacon wrapped shrimp. Do not skip out on these! Wow! We didn’t realize this place was BYOB but don’t fret you can order from La Mejikana across the street. We look forward to this being our new favorite Mexican seafood spot! Counting down the hours until we go again. Oh and order the empanadas…you’re welcome.
My girl friend suggested to do lunch at this new establishment based on some friends recommendation while I was visiting from the suburbs. They are still BYOB, so we got some beer around the corner. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming and made some good suggestions. My GF ordered a tostada fria and I ordered a hot mixed tostada for appetizers. Wow! My tostada was probably the best tostada I've ever had in my entire life. The seafood was tossed in a guajillo pepper flavored marinade/sauce topped with avocado slices. Now comes the disappointment: I also ordered an oyster, shrimp and octopus cocktail. They topped the cocktail glass with 1 in-the-shell oyster and that's was it. Plenty off shrimp and some octopus though. No flavor whatsoever. It was like eating unseasoned seafood in a pool of water. They just opened a few weeks ago so I'm sure they are working out the kinks in the back of the house. Some young guy stopped by our table to welcome us and explained they are still working on getting their liquor licence which was a nice touch. We tipped accordingly to the great service we received. We will come back and I hope that cocktail will be more flavorful next time! 5 stars this time!
¡Hay tantas opciones diferentes de mariscos para elegir aquí! Probé los tacos de camarones y algunos camarones picantes y estaban fantásticos. Tons of different seafood options and the prices are pretty great too. They have beers and stuff here but you can also pay an uncorking fee to bring your own alcohol if you want something stronger or different. Overall it's a great atmosphere and a good place to bring friends and family.
We had the ceviche sampler, empanadas and seafood bag boil, everything was delicious . Recommend 10/10
Los Cuates is a vibrant new Chicago spot that won us over with its delicious seafood tasting plates and warm hospitality. The staff’s friendly service and personal touches, like a welcoming consomé and the tostadas de ceviche (chef’s kiss!), set the tone. The hot mixed tostada, with the best marinade I’ve yet to taste out of any local seafood spot near the city, was an impeccable seafood and avocado heaven! The aguas frescas are fantastic if you’re not into alcohol**.** The seafood boil was packed with crab legs, crab, shrimp, and sausage, while the empanadas were pure indulgence. Enjoy this gem**—**it won’t let you down, especially for being in the heart of Pilsen, “La 18.” We’re already planning our return!
Amazing food and service. Seafood is fresh and the drinks are delicious. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, awesome staff, good vibes. Prices are affordable, selection is great. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

The best seafood restaurant in Pilsen. Very reasonable price. Always coming back here
I was helped by a very friendly waitress named Rocio, the cook made very delicious food, would definitely come again and recommend to anyone!
My family has ordered take out a few times and it never disappoints. Today we went in and ate at the restaurant for the first time and it was even better. Great atmosphere, incredible service, and the food is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the crab legs! We will be making this a frequent Sunday stop.
This is my second time eating their food. the first time was when they first opened. I came in with a group and we were seated right away. The food was good and so was the service. I ate camarones a la diabla and a sangria preparada. Today I ordered pick up and i had the buy one tostada get the second free for less than $10. The tostada de pescado was really tasty. For the price, this special is going to be a favorite of mine for lunch. I highly recommend it if you work nearby and you don't want something too heavy for lunch.

If you’re looking for a seafood experience that hits hard with flavor and authenticity, Mariscos Los Cuates is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and attentiveness..especially by our server, Roberto, who went above and beyond. He wasn’t just friendly..he was exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu, walking us through each dish with care and making sure we understood what made everything special. We tried the aguachiles, which were bold, fresh, and perfectly balanced in spice. The tiradito de atún was another standoutdelicate slices of tuna with vibrant citrus and heat that danced on the palate. Every bite felt like it was prepared with intention, and the seafood was incredibly fresh definitely high-quality. What really made the experience memorable was the attention to detail. Roberto made us feel like we weren’t just guests, but part of a culinary story. He checked in at all the right times, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made sure everything was spot on. This isn’t just good Mexican seafood this is next-level coastal cuisine served with genuine hospitality. Whether you’re a fan of mariscos or new to the game, this spot deserves a visit. I’ll absolutely be back, and I’ll be requesting Roberto again!

A Hidden Gem in Pilsen – Los Cuates de la 18 Tucked away in the heart of Pilsen, Los Cuates de la 18 delivers a coastal escape through authentic Mexican seafood that makes you feel like you're dining beachside, soaking up the sun and good vibes. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that instantly makes you feel like family. The ambiance is just as inviting — cozy, colorful, and full of life — creating the perfect setting for a relaxed and joyful meal. I especially appreciated the modern touch of digital menus. It’s clear that while Los Cuates proudly preserves the traditions of Mexican service and hospitality, they’re also embracing technology to enhance the overall experience without losing that personal connection. Now, let’s talk about the food — because this is where Los Cuates truly shines. The Chicharrón de Pescado, paired with their vibrant house-made salsas and fresh handmade tortillas, is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Torre de Mariscos is a visual masterpiece, stacked high and bursting with bold, fresh flavors. And the Seafood Boil? An absolute showstopper — seasoned just right, generously portioned, and so satisfying. From start to finish, Los Cuates offers a seafood experience that’s both authentic and elevated. If you're craving the taste of the Mexican coast right here in Chicago, this is one spot you absolutely can't miss.
Good seafood. Nice server. Music is too loud and annoying while you eat though. Please turn it down and calmer music.

Good food with good service. The mariscos such aguachiles and ceviche are a different style from what you'll typically find in Chicago (Nayarit), different and good. They also have your traditional Mexican dishes such as Al ajo or a la diabla, cocteles, etc.. I had camarones Al ajo, a tostada mixta and aguachiles, they were all good and decent portions. It's BYOB, small siting area. The prices are what you'll expect for mariscos in Chicago. The only thing that was annoying was a "temporary surcharge" which is not stated anywhere but on the bill, extra bucks for who knows what. Other than that it was a good experience.
I've only ordered delivery but their quality control for delivery seems to be an issue. Both times my order had something wrong. This time, they sent the entire wrong dish. I ordered shrimp ceviche, received fish instead. I don't particularly like fish ceviche--especially not mystery fish ceviche, since they don't tell you what they're using--but the bite I had did taste fresh and was very heavy on the lime. So if you do enjoy fish ceviche, you'll probably enjoy theirs. I also ordered the guacamole and while it is quite good, the chips taste of old grease which kind of ruins it. Disappointing because everyone else's photos and reviews make it sound like a great spot. Maybe just stick to dining in?

Found a damn HAIR in my ceviche!!!! 🤮🤮🤮 I am not new to Mexican seafood and eat it often so here is my honest review. Ordered the ceviche de camaron (shrimp) and there was a small black hair mixed in deep within the ceviche. See pic below it's on the white napkin. I only noticed it bc I was mixing the ceviche and since the shrimp was a semi transparent white color the black strand stood out pretty obvious against it. I had to throw it all away and spent $20 on it so what a waste of money!!! What a bummer. They also packed it in a Styrofoam container which was odd given all the lime juice in the ceviche, which could easily spill out. They should have packed it in one of those quarts/ sealed plastic tub like they did for the soup. I also ordered the snow crab legs (patas de jaiba) which were $24.99 for 1lb which was 3 clusters. The crab legs themselves were good the crab meat was sweet and tender but the sauce the chef put them in was terrible it basically tasted like tabasco or tapatio sauce. It was my fault for not requesting it to be made Nayarit style but at the same time they did not ask me how I would like it prepared. Other Mexican joints I've eaten at indicate on their menu garlic sauce, diablo sauce, Nayarit sauce etc but this menu did not list it under the crab legs and I wasn't asked by the staff so I automatically assumed it would be prepared Nayarit style just like the langostinos were but they were not. So definitely ask or they will just use the sauce they gave us for the crab which tasted like tapatio and did not pair well with the crab clusters. They should add the sauce options to the menu under the crab legs description so the customer knows to request it OR they should be asking what style/sauce we would like it to be cooked in. The langostinos de Nayarit (prawns) are a great value for $30 but the flavor was not there. It tasted purely of butter and not enough Nayarit seasoning. I've had langostinos de Nayarit many many times at Mexican seafood restaurants and even make it at home sometimes but this was definitely under seasoned and was just greasy and butter tasting. The portion size is worth the price so it's a great value but the flavor was lacking so what's the point? I prefer El Kora their langostinos are cheaper at $25 for the same portion but the flavor is definitely better! These just tasted like pure butter which was disappointing again as this is the dish I was most looking forward too. The 7 mares seafood soup for $25 was good, loaded with a ton of seafood, generous portions, the broth was a bit spicy so I couldn't enjoy it too much but it did have a strong seafood and smokey flavor which I like and wasn't too salty which I appreciated. The broth was a rich red color but I prefer a clearer cleaner broth for seafood soup with less spice so again I would say El Kora's 7 seafood soup is better in my opinion bc it's not spicy and has a "cleaner" lighter tasting broth. The broth here although flavorful and not too salty, was too spicy to enjoy. But if you like the spice then you might enjoy it. They also gave us tostadas for the ceviche, cueritos (pickled pork skin- not a fan of), cilantro and onion all complimentary which was a nice touch. They only gave one lime which I thought was wild given all the food we ordered so I had to ask for more. So make sure you ask if you have a large takeout order. At El Kora, they give you everything without having to ask. Overall, crab legs, langostinos, and soup were a great value for the portion BUT the flavor was off for the crab legs sauce and the langostinos. Finding a hair in the ceviche is just unacceptable that I cannot justify coming back. In terms of service, the server was polite, why I didn't give 1 star but they need to get a qualified cook who knows what he's doing. Idk if he was in a rush or overwhelmed with the large order (think he was the only cook) but too many issues with the flavor of the food, and the hygiene issue with the hair in my entree (he wasn't wearing a hairnet either). This will be my first and last time coming here.
