Frequently asked questions about chow main
chow main Bogota Reviews
I'd say for a $10 lunch, this is legit! A friend recommended I try the fried fish so against my better judgement, I did and I was pleasantly surprised! It took a few minutes but I didn't mind because they cooked it fresh. My fries and fish were still crunchy after I walked back to my desk and I didn't even realize it came with a salad! So if you need a quick lunch, I'd definitely recommend. They also have the Chinese food on the line so it's even quicker!
The owner was so kind. The food was soo good and well seasoned. We baught the fried fish plate with shrimp fried rice. Omg so much flavor and fish cooked to order and it's wild caught! Not that farm raised fish! Would definitely recommend for weekday lunch spot!
After seeing a write up in the 225 about this place, I decided to try it. Chow Main does not disappoint. He has reinvented the bahn mi sandwich with the Pickled Saigon Piggy sandwich. It is warm and savory with the right amount of umami balance. Definitely will be a new lunch staple for the downtown crowd. Also, great service—they were slammed and the owner still took the time to recommend and explain his favorite dish to me.
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary but don't want toempty yout pockets this is is the place. It is a modern twist on traditional Chinese fare. Portions are huge. Service is extra friendly, the go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your experience. The decor is fun too. Full of flavor and several health choices. Great for vegans and vegetarians. Check it out now!
This place is great. Rarely am I comfortable ordering anything on a menu, but I honestly can’t wait to try everything on this menu. The Daosi Gravy fries and the Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup are fire. Great customer service and short wait. So glad this place is now open at night!! Get here. It won’t disappoint.
My fiance and I met up here for lunch to try they're new menu featuring Asian sandwiches and loaded fries and wow was it delicious! The French bread they get from a new orleans bakery and it was perfect! The Choo Choo's Hot fries (pictured) were sooooo good! Asian buffalo chicken with kimchi! The Sappari Senpai was also delicious and reminded me of an Asian inspired shrimp poboy. Everything had great bold Asian flavors! We will definitely go back to try the other sandwiches!
The owner is very kind and the food is nice. I want to go there if I have chance.

Clean, intimate and modern setting with a convenient location. Fast and friendly service in a happy atmosphere. Menu is direct and descriptive, easily read from around the restaurant. Dishes are varied in composition; the ingredients are paired very well, creating a bold flavor with many individual delicate layers. Austin and his staff are pushing the concept of food in new and interesting directions, highly recommend stopping in and becoming a regular.
The food was great! It was prepared fresh right in front of us. My favorite is the Riverwalk fries...an interesting blend of ingredients with french fries as the base. You don't need a burger with these. It is its own signature meal. If you like french fries, you will love these! Thanks Austin!
Top-notch. The vibe is great, the service is better, and the food is, somehow, even better than that. The service is strikingly fast- you don't have to wait for long at all. Once the food does come, though, you're gonna be done with it even faster than that; it's addictively good, and I can proudly say I cleaned my plate. My final thoughts: I would have posted a picture, but I finished it so quickly I didn't get the chance. Absolutely go here.
Small menu but very fast and friendly customer service. Portion sizes are adequate to large and very tasty. I had the Thai beef noodle soup which was very good. The sandwiches look amazing as well.
Stopped in on a whim one day for lunch, food was good and loved that they had healthy options. Loved the brussel sprouts! The gentleman cooking was also a super nice guy.
Best modern Asian fast-food in Baton Rouge! The service is quick, the food comes out fast and is delicious! The Sloppy Zhou is a must-try for anyone who likes Sloppy Joes. This great new restaurant is also fantastic for vegetarians. There are TVs on the wall and yes they have soft drinks and water. The location is literally facing Main Street, just outside of the Main Street Market. The owner, Austin Wong, is here all the time and really gets to know all his customers. Try this place, you'll really like it! Two thumbs up!
Great lunch spot for a fast and healthy food. Awesome service and very clean. Everything we ordered was delicious! I highly recommend Vietnamese dipping sauce!!
Delicious, flavourful, AND healthy food with EXCELLENT service. 10/10 food and experience. The tagline “Southern Based/Asian Taste” couldn't be more true! The Signature Bowls each have their own enchanted flavor/taste (shout out for the Mala Spicy), but the build-your-own-bowl is where customers can really make the magic happen! From Jake Clapp's article in the advocate: "Bowls start with a base of rice, chilled noodles, lo mein or mixed greens, and can be built with protein — chicken, pork, steak or shrimp — and a variety of vegetables, sauces and garnishes". Whatever combination of base/veggies/protein/garnishes/sauce you come up with, chances are that it won't dissapoint! If you haven't tried the Sloppy Zhou, you need to NOW. The "Sloppy Zhou" is traditionally braised pork garnished with cilantro and peanuts, and it is out of this world good. Grab one to go with your bowl to try...you won't regret it! Chow Main by far has the most personable owner alive (Austin Wong), a friendly and accommodating staff, AND serves delicious AND healthy food...so what more can I ask for as a customer? Dessert?
And WOW! At first glance I thought it was going to be a version of Panda Express (ick) but low and behold, this place is a Gem!!! If I lived downtown I would be eating at this place weekly. I highly recommend this place!

Been wanting to try this place for forever! I hate to do them like this because they had excellent customer service but the food could be better, then again maybe that's partly because I got there when they were almost closing.

The food is good. For the prices they are charging, the portion sizes are generous. I had the catfish plate. 3 strips of extremely fresh, flaky deep fried catfish and a side of the fried rice with a soda for 11$? That’s a great price. And the fish was great and fried rice was also good. If you’re looking to try stuff that you can mix and match with different combinations : American and Asian foods on the food plate, this is definitely something to try. The staff is really friendly and the owners are also on site. Makes me feel valued as a customer.
Great staff and nice healthy food but it is pretty bland. Noodles had no flavor and the chicken was alright. Some sauce options that you could add from packets or bottles would go a long way here to compliment your food since its healthiness draws away from the flavor a bit.

The service here is great. The owners are on site and they are so friendly. In fact the owners cook most of the food. The other staff are great as well. The problem with the place is the food is just okay. The Sensazn salad is $6.50 and then an additional $2.50 for chicken. This is not a horrible price for a downtown eatery. The sides that I chose were, again, just okay. Out of all of the sides I ate the brussel sprouts were the best. The broccoli was well seasoned, the green beans had a little kick to them and they were okay, the bok choy was good, but the brussel sprouts were really really good. They do have a breakfast menu that I plan to check out I plan to get the omelet in fact.
