I had an incredible dining experience at Davio's! The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for a special evening out. The menu offered a wide variety of delicious options, and every dish we tried was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. A special thank you to our server, Daniel, who truly made our night exceptional. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations throughout the evening. His friendly and professional service really added to the overall experience. I highly recommend Davio’s for anyone looking for an outstanding meal with top-notch service. We’ll definitely be returning!
Spectacular food in a cozy upscale ambience. The restaurant does tend to get loud in the evening but we were in a private room and it was perfect. Service was excellent. I got the arugula salad and salmon - both were exceptional. The tiramisu is creamy but light.
Food was great also really liked the service and atmosphere. They have kids menu which was nice.
Great food, great service! We’re visiting Boston just for a few days and were especially looking for good risotto nearby. We’re grateful to find Davio’s within a short walk for an impressive dining experience on a Friday evening! We had the lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, beef carpaccio, veal with mushroom risotto and the lobster risotto. Everything is very delicious and beyond our expectations. Well done!
I had a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived. The food was well-presented and flavorful; my steak was cooked perfectly. The service was good, but it didn't fully meet my expectations for the type of restaurant and its location. Additionally, the background music, which was primarily 90s pop, did not create the relaxing atmosphere I had anticipated from a 5-star establishment.
I visited here after seeing thr titanic exhibit. Fantastic branzino and brussel sprouts too. The sav blanc was crisp and nice pairing with the branzino. The ginger ice cream cobbler was good too. The popover is the best! Great service at the bar too.
Fabulous dining experience. They have the best separate gluten free menu I have seen with delicious options. Service was outstanding and non-intrusive. It was absolutely delightful and elegant.
AMAZING gluten free pasta I have had in a very long time! They really know how to look after those with food intolerances and the service outstanding! I felt very well looked after! Would highly recommend visiting here while you are in Boston!
I had the best time earlier this week trying out the flights of Rosé along with some appetizers with my friends! Grateful for Zeke and everyone on the team.
Had a wonderful birthday and “parents meeting parents” dinner here. The food was all delicious and we felt treated super well by our server. Would recommend for a great Italian meal for a special occasion!
Davio's has been on my bucket list since the 1990s. In my mind, it was one of those expensive places, but I took another look at the menu. There are different price points so many people can enjoy this place. The food was outstanding. Beautiful interiors, high ceilings, outstanding food, and graceful service. The lobster bisque, the 3 scoops of gelato, fluffy complimentary brioche bread, and the pasta with meat sauce were excellent. There something remarkable about the tap water. Very pure tasting. The ice tea was unlike anything I ever had in a restaurant. Lovely floral flavor. Best ice tea I have ever had at a restaurant. Service was good.
An absolute incredible experience. The food was incredible but what was more amazing was the staff and their attention to detail. They made sure everything we needed and wanted was taken care of. They also were knowledgeable enough to give us advice on wine pairings for out meal. Amazing. Will definitely go again!
Last night was our first time here and we were on a time constraint. They took us right in for our reservation our waitress was wonderful we got our food fairly quick and it was all so delicious. I normally order my steak medium well but opted for medium here and it did not disappoint. So good. Didn't even need the sauce it came with.
Had a tremendous experience here! One of the best dry aged NY Strips I’ve been very had. Gluten free options were plentiful, and they were very understanding and cognizant of our food allergies.
I went for the first time with some friends on a Saturday. We had a reservation and got right in. Everything was absolutely delicious. I ordered an Arctic char special and a lemon pasta appetizer which was amazing. The service was impeccable and the food was great.
A true steakhouse should have an elegant and classy feel to it, Davio's definitely has that going on! Every meal at a fine dining restaurant should start with a good Belvedere/Grey Goose martini and must have blue cheese stuffed olives. I was off to a great start. The bread was delicious and came served in a unique, vertical basket. I had to stop myself from getting a second serving. The arugula salad was refreshingly light, topped with shaved parm and a slightly citrus virgin olive oil. The star though was the bone-in ribeye. It was as delicious as it was massive and cooked perfectly to order - medium rare. The cab wine pairing was excellent and of a very high quality. There was no room for dessert, but everything looked really good. I'll be back.
Went to Davios for the first time over the weekend. Let me tell you the food was exceptional as well as the service! Also, for the type of experience offered I feel the price is very reasonable. I honestly thought our bill would have been more. Definitely check out Davios you won’t regret it!
Found this Restaurant on open-table for a late night Dinner after arriving in Boston from Lis Angeles . It was past 9 P M and we were really hungry and looking forward to eating in Boston during our short visit. All the Pasta s are made in house fresh and it was s really nice place to celebrate my wife s Birthday . The Pasts dishes we ordered were delish as was the Salad and Dessert. Would definitely recommend this Restaurant.
Family came here for a nice dinner. The food was spectacular and our server Joe was excellent. We ordered Kobi meatballs, braised octopus, raw clams, gnocchi, pan seared lobster, lobster risotto and goat cheese tortellini, and all were superb👍
Try their very own Davinos pino. I had the dry aged ribeye....amazing! Great atmosphere and nice place. It's worth the money. Dean told us to put a meatball in the pop up bread.....amazing tip! Prepare to take food home!
The food was perfect. We had a great server. I didn’t like that we were sat at a huge pillar and they moved us right away. Popovers to start!! What’s better than that? We will be back to try the power lunch!
Omg! Best steaks my husband and I have ever had!! We have ate a lot of steaks from different states and these have been the best! We have even been to Hells Kitchen, food was great but these were better. Also service is better here too. Pricey, but worth everything penny!! Fabio was our server and he did such a great job making sure everything was perfect! I have a gluten allergy and they had gf bread and a whole menu with lots of options!! Will come back to Boston and eat here.
I went to Davio on New Year's Eve. They offered a prix fixe menu with 4 courses and about 4 options per course. It was great! The service, the food, the atmosphere were all excellent! It was a great way to start off celebrating the new year. I will absolutely come back and highly recommend. The only improvement, I would recommend is that I made the reservation online and there was no mention of the prix fixe menu, it would've been nice to know that before we showed up for our reservation.
We went as soon as they opened today September 13th 2025 and sat at the bar. Davio's has the BEST lobster bisque I have ever had. I keep coming back for it. I also had the slider trio, and it was fantastic. As Always, ever single employee we had interaction with went out of their way to make us feel special. I will be back again the next time I am Boston!!!
Came here on Valentine's Day and had a simply divine little meal and terrific cocktails. The staff was great, service was incredible, and the popovers...dear heaven, I could eat those popovers every day for the rest of my life. Will definitely be coming back!
Mike, the bartender on NYE, made me a Mediterraneo Cosmo Martini. It was one of the BEST cocktails I have ever had. No joke. He and the other bartenders were busy due to the NYE crowd, but were personable and professional. On one of their busiest nights, the maitre d/manager was accommodating and helped change our reservation from 2 to 4 which was appreciated. Thank you. Dinner was fantastic. We ordered from the prefix menu which was all a person could ask for. Great quality at a reasonable price point. The service, food, ambiance were all top notch. I am glad we chose Davios, Back Bay to have dinner on NYE. What a great way to say farewell to 2025 and ring in 2026.
David’s is a piece of Italy in downtown Boston. After having visited Italy several times I was greatly pleased with the food here. The ambiance easily surpasses anything you will find in Rome or Milano. Our server was excellent and the food was fantastic. If you are in Boston please make sure you visit this restaurant your trip will be made memorable by what you will experience here.
I should have written a review years ago. Apologies to Davio's for not doing so. My boss did an annual week-long seminar at Harvard Business School for many years and asked me to find a dinner spot for her seminar group. I asked a Boston friend who recommended Davio's. We booked the private Wine Room and the group had the BEST time! Other groups found out and we had to start fighting over Davio's - I would book the Wine Room a year in advance after losing it the second year (the semi-private space was very nice as well). Working with Laura and Shannon was always a pleasure and over nearly a decade, I heard nothing but raves about the food, ambiance and service at Davio's. Highly recommended!
Amazing spot to grab a quick bite at the bar area, or a nice, formal Italian meal or steak. The drafts were out of order at the time, and the beer selection is not great, considering the world class craft beers brewed in the New England area.
Had an amazing dinner at Davio’s Back Bay! The food was incredible, especially the Bolognese, which tasted fresh and authentic. Our server, Maureen, was super friendly and attentive the whole night. The atmosphere was classy but comfortable, and everything felt really well-run. Prices are definitely upscale, but worth it for the quality and service. Highly recommend!
We had dinner here for Christmas eve. The placed was very busy but the staffed handled it well. We had the tomato soup and the sausage for appetizers and the butternut tagliatelle and filet for entrees. Everything was delicious and the service was great.
We dined at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Boston and had a really memorable evening. The food was excellent — beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and what you’d expect from a higher-end Italian steakhouse. The starters, steak and pasta dishes we tried were all standout. What impressed me most was the service: fast, professional, and genuinely friendly. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they welcomed us right away and sat us in a great spot — right in the middle of the restaurant with a view into the open kitchen. It’s fun to watch the chefs in action while you dine. The restaurant’s interior is elegant but comfortable. Crisp white tablecloths, high ceilings, free-flowing space, and enough bustle to feel lively without being chaotic. Davio’s is located in Back Bay / Park Square, so there’s a nice balance between that classic Boston charm and easy access. If you want a special night out with great food, polished service, and a little peek behind the kitchen door, Davio’s is a strong choice.
I recently dined at Davio’s Italian Steakhouse near Back Bay, and overall, it was a great experience! The standout for me was the clam chowder—absolutely fantastic and some of the best I’ve had in Boston. My steak was flavorful and well-prepared, though it wasn’t cooked quite the way I prefer. Still, the quality of the meat was excellent. As for desserts, they were decent but didn’t blow me away. I did enjoy the eclair—it was a lovely treat to end the meal. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming. I’d definitely recommend it for a nice night out, especially if you’re a fan of seafood and steak.
I recently dined at Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse in Boston with my family, and while the food was decent, the experience overall was quite enjoyable. The restaurant offers a nice blend of Northern Italian cuisine with American steakhouse staples, though nothing really stood out on the menu. What made the visit special was how accommodating they were with kids. The staff was friendly and attentive, making it a relaxed dining experience for the whole family. The atmosphere was upscale yet welcoming, and they provided options that were kid-friendly, which is always appreciated. Overall, it's a great place for a family dinner in a nice setting, especially if you're dining with little ones.
We went to Davio’s for a 50th birthday dinner. The restaurant has an elegant atmosphere without being pretentious. The staff was attentive & patient with our group of 10. A bunch of the ladies are vegetarians & were skeptical of vegetarian choices at a restaurant famous for steak but were pleasantly surprised with a nice selection of mains & sides. Our cocktails were wonderful & the freshly baked popovers were to die for. We ordered lots of dishes & except for a couple of vegetarian options & Fusilli, Shrimp, Hot Cherry Peppers, Vermentino, Lemon, Olive Oil. The shrimp was over cooked & the pasta too sour. The best dishes were the Atlantic Salmon, Farro, Mushrooms, Spinach, Jumbo Crab, Roasted Eggplant, Farro, Spinach, San Marzano Tomatoes, Shaved Brussels Sprouts, Guanciale, Chicken Parm Spring Rolls in Marinara & Parmigiano Fries, Truffle Aioli & Goat Cheese Puffs. Loved the tiramisu & the Seasonal Fruit, Berries, Citrus Broth, Mini Sweet Ricotta Cannoli. Davio’s is a great place for a special occasion.
Came for a weekday lunch. Service was quick, almost too quick! We had the egg roll sampler as an appetizer - I wouldn’t get this again. Not my style, I’d prefer a traditional eggroll over anything! But could be a crowd favorite. I had the Asian chop salad for my lunch. It was perfect, nice and light. Tons of gluten free options here make me want to come again!
Davio's is a great high class restaurant! We got a private room and the service was phenomenal. The Philly cheese steak appetisers were honestly amazing for how simple they were. I would also recommend the pizzas because they were very filling and satisfying meals. We had a wonderful experience here and if you want to have a nice meal in Boston Davio's should definitely be on your list.
It was great time in Davio's! Meatball as beginning was a great choice and steak with wine was also awesome. Every server was really kind and professional :) One thing made me sad was the shrimp in pasta which was not seasoned but just steamed, so I felt it's not harmonized. Also the sour flavor of fettuccine gets stronger as the dish get cooler which was not my favorite.
Tonight, I dined at Davio’s (Back Bay) in a unique way. In most restaurants, the kitchen is around some corner and down some hallway and, basically, out of sight. You rarely have the opportunity to see the hard work that goes into each plate or bowl… you just enjoy it. But, not tonight. I chose to sit at the “chef’s table” and it was a great experience. It was a pleasure watching the good people who feed us in their own element - working with incredible pace and intensity, but also joy and levity. It certainly gave me the opportunity to better enjoy my meal, and was a welcomed change from the TVs that now pepper restaurants and eateries. Not sure if every Davio’s is like this but, if you ever find yourself at Davio’s Back Bay, sit at the chef’s table.
A very stiff lipped place with no sense of hospitality. I visited based on reviews. However, the reviews are way overrated!! We had a reservation so it was easier to find a place. The hosts at the reception were warm, but the server (a lady) was extremely hostile and indifferent. She behaved as if we weren't capable of giving her a good tip!! The food and the ambiance were good.. It's an expensive fine dining restaurant. The food quantity is less for the price We asked for a half bottle of zinfandel and were rudely informed that it's our stock!! So we settled for Merlot instead. We ordered the chicken liver fry for starters and 10oz beef steak with blue cheese mashed potatoes. The food was delicious.
I REALLY wanted some fantastic Italian food to end our trip in Boston. We were within walking distance from the park and the reviews on Google were high - 4.4. I should have checked Yelp per usual. 3.9 stars as of this moment. I try to stay away when it’s below 4 because I know how picky I am. We shared everything, per usual, to try more. We started with the tomato soup and beet salad. The tomato soup was savory and delicious. One could hope for more crostinis with goat cheese of course. The beet salad was strange. I feel that it needed to be served atop greens. The fried goat cheese balls on top were what I liked about it. For entrees we did the split versions of the tortellini and the gnocchi. The gnocchi direly needs a little sear. They are so mushy. The flavor is good but the texture is so bad. The tortelloni was under al dente. You could see that the pasta was not cooked through when cutting it on eat. Unfortunately, our server was also the bar tender so he did not make it to our table to offer fresh cracked pepper or freshly grated cheese for the pasta. I think that may have made it slightly better but the massive technical errors were a huge let down, especially at the price point.
The location is convenient to the Back Bay. The menu is pretty good selection. The popovers were burnt. The scallops were okay, but no risortto or peapods. The rice had no flavor. The salad was bland. The desserts were simple and dull. There was no gluten-free dessert option other than berries. Their version of bailey's had gluten. I would pick another place to go eat. The cost is not cheap.
We went here for our anniversary and I can confidently say this was the most chaotic “fine-dining” experience I’ve ever had in my life. It felt less like dinner and more like we accidentally signed up to be extras in a restaurant training simulation. You walk in and the place is massive and loud. Not upscale steakhouse energy. More like upscale sports bar that put on a blazer. We had a reservation and still waited, and when our table was ready the host pointed us out… only for the server to walk past us and ask several other couples first if they were us. At that point I should have known what kind of night we were in for. Once seated, it was like the staff had a competition to see who could ask about water the most times. Three different people asked if we wanted still or sparkling within five minutes. Only one actually brought water. I have never seen so much enthusiasm for hydration. Our waiter then appeared and immediately asked if we wanted an appetizer without introducing himself or asking about drinks. Sir we just sat down. We asked for drinks first, which seemed to surprise him, and when he returned with them he immediately asked what we wanted for dinner like we were on a game show timer. My husband actually asked if they had any specials to which he had to rush back to the kitchen to ask about. Usually offering specials is a routine part of dinner service etiquette….but we had to ask. My wine came in a carafe which and when I poured it I found a tiny bug or some sort of black speck in my glass. Nothing sets the mood for romance like surprise protein in your wine.😂 A manager did replace it which I appreciated, but it took a bit and by then the damage to the vibe was done. From that point forward we were basically under surveillance. If we took one sip of water someone materialized out of nowhere to refill it. I have never been so hydrated and so uncomfortable at the same time. Staff hovered nearby, reached across us mid sentence, and interrupted constantly. It felt like we were being gently but aggressively supervised. The bread was so crumbly it looked like it had been through a traumatic event, and it was served on bright white tablecloths which felt like a risky lifestyle choice. Before we even finished it someone rushed over asking to clear the bread. We told them we were still working on it. Another staff member later reached across my husband, fumbled, and dropped the bread container on the floor which honestly felt like the perfect metaphor for the evening. We were also seated by the entrance, so every time the door opened a blast of cold air hit us. The candle was fighting for its life. The tablecloth kept lifting like we were dining during a weather event. At one point I thought we might achieve liftoff. The food finally came and it was… fine. Not bad. Just aggressively forgettable. I got the cod and it had all the personality of plain toast. For the price I expected at least a little excitement, maybe a whisper of flavor, something. Dessert was the one shining moment. It was good. We even joked they must have a completely different person handling desserts or sublet it out because it was the only part of the meal that felt somewhat special. They did bring a card and write happy anniversary on the plate which was thoughtful, but still charged us for it which felt very on brand for the experience. Overall this place feels like it’s trying desperately to be upscale but is missing the point entirely. There was constant hovering instead of hospitality, chaos instead of atmosphere, and food that absolutely did not justify the price. We didn’t hate it, but we definitely didn’t relax, and I can safely say I have never felt so monitored while eating in my life. The only “excitement” was the overstimulation of the service and atompshere—definitely not the food.
Tip - check out the Yelp reviews. We arrived at 6:30 for a 6:45 reservation on a very busy Friday evening (parents weekend at 4 Universities). After checking in with the hostess and waiting about 10 minutes they said our resy is for 7:45! After much discussion about the resy time, we decided to wait at the bar for "the 7:45 reservation". Barman was fantastic and shared pizza was great. It's now 8:00 - an hour and half since our arrival. Since no one is approaching us we go the hostess again. No apologies and we are told there is a table opening up, just needs to be cleared. If we hadn't invested so much time we would have left. The food was good and waitress very professional but the hospitality in the restaurant is grossly inadequate.
My experience here was terrible. The kitchen closes at 10:30pm. We get there at 10 and they are already closing. We walk in and the hostess picks up the phone. We had to greet her and thats when she informed us we could only sit at the bar because the main dining area is closed. I immediately wanted to leave but my friends were like lets just eat. We go to the bar and I watched the bartender’s body language of disappointment. He then starts washing dishes, checked on other guests and cleared bottles before giving us drinks only menus. My friend says, “hey we want to eat dinner, wheres the dinner menu?”. The bartender rolls his eyes and grab the menus, drops them down and walks away. It was disgusting. I understand the kitchen closes at 10:30 and you look forward to leaving but we shouldn’t be treated like such an inconvenience especially when there are several other people comfy and dining. The bartender was so rude. I had to get his attention for drinks, parmesan, and the check. Then our food was just ok. The meatballs were good but the pasta was overcooked; too much garlic, and underwhelming. I won’t be back here and I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Im appalled.
Saturday. Ordered flat iron steak medium rare. However it came to the table with char on it. Under cooked it. Also ordered filet mignon. That came to the table with char on it also. Weird right. It's very hard to over cook a steak and under cook a steak. That's special talent in itself. It does explain the no aujus (juice of the steak) First time seeing creme Brulee at a Italian restaurant. Seeming how it tasted like a lemon 🍋. And nothing more.... worst experience ever
Visited this place for a family dinner since it looked nice. Our waiter Dean ruined the entire experience for us. He snuck up on us outa nowhere didn’t even introduce himself or asked how we were doing and just started listing the specials. His white top had bunch of stains on it, ZERO personality, He forgot my drink, he never brought my dessert he never came back to check on us but magically appeared when it came to pay the bill all smiles thinking he deserved a tip or something. He definitely needs more training on being a waiter specifically in this type of a restaurant. I didn’t want to go back there since first time was not a good experience but since my husband goes out there for work we decided to give it another shot. It happened to be our wedding anniversary so my husband made reservations ahead of time letting them know it was a special day for us and asked for like more private table. They made us wait forever to be seated. First they sat us in the middle of the restaurant and my husband said can we get a more private table since that’s what I asked for. The hostess little African American girl with no manners gave us a look 👀 and shook her head just started walking away to a different table we’re like are we following you or what’s happening? If this person is the first person your customers are interacting with she needs to friendly, respectful, smiling and professional. After all aren’t us customers the reason these people have jobs? So we sat down by this group of loud mouth, cussing drunks thinking they own the place. My steak was over cooked, my husbands steak was undercooked. They never even bothered to put some type of special writing on our dessert since we had told them repeatedly we were celebrating our anniversary. Overall NEVER going back there again. For the amount of $ they charge for the food and ambience they can go the extra mile of listening to the customers or making them feel special so they would actually want to go back. We gave it a shot twice and walked out disappointed both times so never again. It’s a shame because my husband goes out there for training once a month and we’re always looking for nice restaurants with good experiences to have dinner. Just thought management should know this Very disappointing
Very poor management and service. We had a Valentine’s Day reservation for a pre-set 3-course menu at $150 per person (drinks not included). For a fixed, premium-priced menu on one of the busiest and most important nights of the year, we expected organization, professionalism, and a seamless experience. Instead, the night started poorly and only went downhill from there. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and were not seated until 10 minutes after our reservation. While 10 minutes may not seem like much, on Valentine’s Day — when you are charging elevated prices — timing and coordination matter. It did not set a good tone for the evening. Immediately after we were seated, the waitress rushed us to order everything at once — appetizer, entrée, and dessert — which made the experience feel transactional rather than special. Then, when it was finally time for dessert, we were told that none of the dessert options we had originally selected were available anymore. Instead, we were offered only three types of cake, none of which were appealing. How does a restaurant sell a $150 per person pre-set menu and then run out of items on that very menu? That is completely unacceptable. The entire purpose of offering a fixed, pre-made course meal is to properly plan inventory and guarantee availability. Running out of multiple options on a limited Valentine’s Day menu shows a serious lack of preparation and management. It is simply unfair to charge premium pricing and not deliver what was promised. To make matters worse, the waitress was not helpful at all. Before we spoke with the manager, she told us she was “not allowed” to remove anything from the bill and offered no solution, no meaningful apology, and no effort to make the situation better. We felt dismissed rather than valued as guests. After speaking with the manager on duty, he agreed to deduct only $35 from our total bill. What made it even more disappointing is that we never received any dessert at all — of any kind. Instead of providing an alternative or making a genuine effort to correct the mistake, they simply removed a small portion from a $300+ dinner (plus nearly $100 in drinks). For a $400+ Valentine’s Day experience, that felt like a token gesture rather than a sincere attempt to make things right. Both of us work in hospitality, so we fully understand that unexpected issues can arise — especially on busy holidays. However, we also know that what truly defines good service is how you recover from those issues and how you make guests feel at the end of the night. Unfortunately, no real effort was made to make us feel valued, appreciated, or taken care of. That is what was most disappointing. We left frustrated, disappointed, and honestly with a bitter taste after what was supposed to be a special evening. For the price paid and the expectations set, this was absolutely unacceptable. A real shame.
I have lived in Boston for about 3 years and love going out to eat. The Back Bay location was the absolute WORST customer service I’ve had at any nicer restaurant in the whole city. I sat at my table for 59 minutes before my drink even came! The food tastes good, when it actually shows up. The mocktails are disgusting. I 0/10 recommend dining here!!!
I was really excited to eat really good italian food, everything about the menu is mouth watering. Unfortunately what I ordered was disgusting, and I'm really not difficult. I got the goat cheese puffs that didn't taste like goat cheese at all not even like cheddar cheese, the lobster risotto with 2 tiny pieces of lobster and the risotto was too watery and not tasty at all (so way over priced), the chopped salad looked good but the dressing killed it tasted way too strong. Something's not right in their kitchen.
