Trattoria Taverna Breno Reviews
Exceptional food; I didn't like stewed snails before trying these. The lady, I think the owner, was very kind. The price was more than fair, almost symbolic.
Passing through, food and hospitality outstanding. Italy welcome at its best. It's worth coming off the main road for.
Traditional Camonica Valley cuisine, featuring cured meats straight from the cellar to the table, homemade pickles, traditional casoncelli (a type of pasta), sirloin with a side of potatoes, herbs, and artichokes. And to finish, a must-try hot spongada (a type of bread) with "brutti ma buoni" (ugly but good) biscuits, all served with Chianti and Lugana. Da Piera is a guarantee.
It's like going to lunch at a mother's house The menu is spoken, what you ask for is brought and in addition many small tastings (cold cuts or other things from the menu), you leave with a very full stomach for a very honest price! Friendly and loving staff and a comfortable and relaxing environment
Sincere and genuine place of traditional Brenese cuisine. Mrs. Piera is a perfect hostess, generous and always attentive to the needs of her guests. The homemade Casoncelli are fabulous, but also everything else is decidedly good, from appetizer to dessert, at more than honest prices! Highly recommended, we will definitely be back!
In Signora Piera's tavern there are a thousand and one things to discover... In this trattoria everything is cooked and prepared with love and respect for local products and traditions. I recommend tasting the appetizers and then the famous '' Casoncelli '' and the sirloin Brennese recipe of the house. Why not try the snails with vegetables and polenta. Then the friendliness and smile of Piera are the signature of the Taverna di Breno tavern.
A typical local tavern, in its decor, cuisine, and hospitality. Excellent cuisine featuring traditional, home-made dishes, generous portions, and truly excellent value (polenta with snails and spinach, casoncelli pasta, sirloin with warm, locally sourced vegetables, Bazzano cheese... exquisite platter...). We were there today, November 1st, a cool, rainy day, and found a table for nine at the last minute and with no problem! Many thanks to Piera and everyone in the kitchen!
A very traditional spot that serves local cuisine. The woman serving us was exactly what you would imagine a sweet old Italian nonna to look like :) They don’t have any menus so with the help of some locals who spoke some English, we were able to order the ravioli filled with meat — very delicious and so filling.
Simple trattoria. Menu announced verbally. Few dishes, but very tasty. A very good roast. Spartan service with long tables for several people. Typically a small town place, but very pleasant.
Traditional local cooking, must try
Good food, but the menu isn't very varied and, in my opinion, a bit pricey. There's no menu so you can choose by word of mouth without knowing exactly what you'll receive or how much it will cost. For example, the lady serving you asks you whether you want an appetizer or not (there's only one appetizer, a mixed platter of cold cuts with mushrooms and artichokes) without explanation. The first course is "pasta or ravioli?" The second course is "polenta and venison or polenta and stew"? Well... the food is good, it feels like walking into someone's home, but the service leaves much to be desired. The silence afterwards is embarrassing. There are several small rooms with large tables shared with other people or very close to each other... A unique experience that might appeal, but not to everyone. We ordered: 1 appetizer, 3 plates of ravioli, and two plates of polenta with meat, with half a glass of wine, 1 water, and 2 coffees = €80.
Expensive as hell! When you walk in, you're seemingly reassured by the presence of workers who are supposed to guarantee a "reasonable" fixed-price menu. But when you go to the cashier, you're in for a shock! You pay like you'd expect at a restaurant for what you'd expect to be a fixed price: there's no menu, there's a lady who walks back and forth asking you what you want, and you have no idea what the prices are until you go to pay. The food is good, but the price isn't justified.
Terrible experience. Yesterday we called to ask for some information, but they hung up on us while we were still talking. We stopped by the restaurant today, but they wouldn't let us in because we had a small dog in a closed bag. The staff was rude and unhelpful. They obviously don't need customers.
