Cozy Soup 'n' Burger Broadway Reviews
I came during an intermission at a play and noticed the Pancake Burger on the menu. I didn't have time to order it then, but after a good meal, I came back a week later and John made it for me. It was delicious and we were discussing the strategy for how to eat it. It almost defeated me, but I finished it and would definitely order it again. I highly recommend it to anyone feeling especially hungry!
Love Cosy Soup & Burger so much!! John is a great host. In terms of food - the split pea soup is a highlight - but I also love the French toast. A real gem.
My favorite Diner so far. Food is excellent, the split pea soup is amazing. I was given yhe opportunity to try a new kind of secret sauce for my burger. It was absolutely amazing.
Excellent place to eat. You gotta try the potatoes skins and gyro chicken pita. Team that works there are so friendly and helpful
Been coming here for years, can’t find a more classic NY dinner experience. Only complaint is that they’re not 24/7 anymore, but after COVID I can’t blame them. At least they’re still here and serving up that classic NY eating experience.
I have been going here for a decade and a half and have never had a bad experience. The food is great, the service is grand and the vibe is impeccable. Perfecto!
One of the best burgers ever! Felt like a friend of the family here.
Feels like old timey 1970s NYC diner. Good food. And cool photos on the wall. I think Rob Schneider used to be a delivery guy here!
I was on a food tour and we stopped here and the owner John was one of the nicest people you could ever hope to encounter. We tried the pea soup (which is vegetarian!) And it was the best pea soup I've ever had in my life. If you're in the area, please stop by and give them a try. Spread the word, try the soup, and help keep this neighborhood staple flourishing!
A staple in the neighborhood, with the best split pea soup. Get your veggies in and stop by Cozys for great food and service. Gyro platter had all the trimmings including grape leaf. Staff is extremely friendly. Food arrived at lightnening speed. Looking forward to coming back on my next trip out.
The quintessential NYC diner experience can be found here, and it’s nothing short of remarkable. Owned and operated by John, this establishment exudes authenticity, love, and a deep passion for hospitality. John’s dedication is palpable in every detail, from the warm, inviting atmosphere to the genuine care he shows each guest. His welcoming and friendly demeanor immediately makes you feel at home, creating a space where time seems to slow down. It’s the kind of place you thought only existed in movies—until you step through the doors and experience it for yourself. We could have easily spent the entire day here, soaking in the charm and comfort. I highly recommend making a stop; it’s an experience you’ll cherish and certainly won’t regret.
We recently went to the Blue Man Group in NY. Right after the show we wanted to grab a bite and the folks at Blue Man said try our Cozy Soup and Burger...Boy were they right. John, the owners son greeted us as we came in out of the cold, welcomed us and made us feel right at home. This is a high end diner with great food and even better service. Lots of celebrities have frequented the place. It's a must for dining. Check it out and ask for John.
Bustling, fascinating, a true NYC gem. This diner / café serves coffee from the long-established Queens roaster Vassilarios & Sons, whose decaf is excellent. Efficient, to-the-point staff make sure to get orders fulfilled correctly. Inside, no music plays, which allows the symphony of humanity to be appreciated.
We have been going to Cozy for decades. Great soups, omelets and burgers! What more can you ask for?
One of the best kept secrets in NYC (though no secret to the locals). The burgers are superb; juicy and delicious.
Cozy is hands down my favorite burger in NYC. Been going here for years. Sad to see how high prices have gone though because of what’s happening to the neighborhood… The burgers are huge and they steam them so they aren’t greasy. Friendly staff, cool old-school atmosphere, and steak fries! Fun fact: Cozy is Adam Sandler’s favorite burger joint.
If there are places that I want to dine in for soup in the winter this would be one of those places. It's in close proximity to bus and subway lines making it easy to get here during a polar vortex or snowstorm. The split pea soup with croutons was delicious and filling. I look forward to come here to try the other soups. If soup is not your thing try their entrees like their chicken club sandwich. It comes with fries, cole slaw, & a pickle. Make sure you're hungry as it will fill you up.
Thus was a real find. I had an American cheese omelet that was far above the usual. With folded in cheese, the eggs were topped with strips of cheese. A nice visual touch. The French fries were crispy without being hard. John, my server and all round attendant even opened my marmalade cup. Prices were loooow. I was happily impressed by my drp in discovery..
This restaurant offers something precious in today's dining scene. Quick and personable support. The meal offered exceptional flavor experiences. I find this place remarkably different. We're determined to visit again!
John was amazing! So charming and friendly… really made us feel like we were part of the big old city. Suddenly it felt much smaller because we made us feel like a small town vibe! We love that! Awesome food, huge menu and fantastic and fast service. Even got to see cool movie posters and learn which ones were filmed there. Highly recommend if you’re traveling to the city with or without kids!
We wandered in after shopping for vintage rocker shirts and to get out of the rain. We had no idea that we just entered the best diner in town! The matzo ball soup, split pea soup and coleslaw was off the hook delicious and the owner was the most gracious and friendly person! Family owned for over 50 years and these guys take such pride in their diner! Highly recommend!!! Oh and pick up a rad shirt while you're there!
I ordered the nacho burger and it was absolutely incredible. I've never had any burger like the one I ate.
A New York institution, Cozy's Soup and Burger has been here forever! The burgers are great! The soup is too. They have everything a diner has to offer too. The prices are commensurate with the rent for this neighborhood - so high prices - but the nostalgia runs very high. Great place, one of my all time favorites! Enjoy!
If you are looking for a familiar and, dare I say, cozy eating experience in New York City Cozy's scratches that itch perfectly. The staff were very friendly despite being packed and accommodated our large group quickly. The food wasn't anything special, but that's not a bad thing. It was the burger you'd get from a diner in your hometown. Cozy's is a little slice of home in the Big Apple. (Turkey burger pcitured)
The experience of going to this restaurant was amazing. Everything was very clean like it was brand new. It was not to noisy. Also, there is very fast service. The waiters were nice and did not rush you. I got a medium burger deluxe with onion rings and a side of cheesy fries. All the food was fresh. I think that instead of going to McDonald's you should go to this restaurant.
I recently visited this place while I was in the area. We ordered the waffles an omelet and a side of eggs. All were on point and the waiter who I think his name was Joey was really nice. The waffle was cooked to perfection and it was the perfect size. Definitely coming back when in the area.
The absolute best Turkey Cheeseburger Deluxe in NYC! I willingly travel from Brooklyn to Manhattan to partake in this "little piece of Heaven on earth". The servers and staff are always welcoming and on point. This is by far one of my eateries! The milkshakes and breakfast menu are awesome as well. Please don't take my word for it , Do yourself a favor and go see what the hype's about !
I love this place. Excellent food, friendly service, and a nice old-new york vibe
A great little retro diner! I stopped in quickly before class and managed to order and finish my meal - coffee, two eggs and corned beef hash - in half an hour. The food was good and the portions ample, with those delicious thin sunny-side-up eggs you can only get at a really good diner with a sizzling hot grill. There is a long menu with lots of diner-typical options. The prices were, let's say, New York Typical, but I figure if you're going to spend $17 on a meal, you should get some hearty stick-to-your-ribs cuisine at a local place instead of that salad chain down the street. However, the real star of the show here was the service. My waiter was attentive, kind, and warm, immediately learning my name and often checking in with me to top up my coffee and make sure everything tasted okay. The staff seemed like a family, with everyone knowing each other and that diner jargon I missed hearing. My food came out extremely quickly, and was even presented nicely with a twist of orange slice. It really felt like a little slice of home in the big city, and I'll be back in the future!
I visit everytime I am within a 15 minute MTA ride and want a burger! Not to be overly effusive but OMG, this place is great. Deserves more than 5 stars. The burgers are excellent. I typically get a medium-well Californian burger, which has always been full of flavor and juicy! The service is on the matter of fact side, but I am totally fine with that because it is attentive and good service. They know their regulars and treat everyone with respect. The restaurant is clean. Our meal arrived quickly. The next time I am even remotely close, I will make my way back for a burger and fries. Update - I have recently expanded beyond the burgers; the homemade chili (turkey) is excellent. Good chili heat without losing the flavor.
Can't believe I've never been to this diner. Haven't ever even heard of it. At the time of this review it's not the easiest to find - scaffolding covering the big sign. Visitors to NYC: consider this a safe zone for dining . . . meaning something for everyone and reliable quality. Typical varied menu. What we had was tasty and served promptly. Great selection of soups and deserts. Staff is exactly what you want in a diner: efficient and a little grumpy. (wouldn't you be, working in a diner?) The restaurant is immaculate. I mean, I've maybe never seen a restaurant so clean and tidy. We enjoyed the visit and will definitely return
There aren’t many classic long time family owned diners left in NYC anymore. My family and I come here often because the owners treat us like family friends, and the food is yummy and comes quick. It also feels great to support a small business. 💙💙💙
My family and I visited New York at Christmas time and we stopped in to have a quick bite and everyone was so kind and helpful. Food was great! I would highly recommend stopping in to grab a bite!
The service was very friendly and welcoming, the food quality was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable for the area. A great value for money overall. Definitely worth visiting.
Eating here should be mandatory. This family owned and operated diner is one of my favorite places to eat in NY. The price alone of the food is unmatched. But then there is the actual food, delicious, made to order, done with pride and care, and served up by staff and owners who treat you like family. Stop by and get the pea soup, and a burger!
The Split Pea Soup!!! Phenomenal, hearty, delicious. Brought it to my cousin who is recovering from an accident in the hospital and he asked to have it brought to him again tomorrow!! Said it was the best soup he ever had. I think it has healing, energizing, life-giving powers because he looked so happy eating this soup.
This place was amazing. John was so friendly & welcoming. Food came out quickly. Burgers, fries, & chicken tenders all 10/10. Ask for John’s special sauce, it won’t disappoint. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing people. We will be back next time we are in NY!
Johnny was so welcoming and amazing. The Burgers, mozzarella sticks and the turkey club was amazing. It’s quaint and cozy. The atmosphere lives up to the name. The Greek cuisine is authentically good. I’ll be back for those meatballs. The special sauce was delicious!
Loved it. Definitely not a Michelin starred restaurant, but everything tasted nicely. I recommend the homemade cheesecake (but you’ll definitely want to share it, it’s like a billion calories). The staff were amazing.
Amazing local diner vibe not overrun with tourists. Fast and efficient energy (in the best way possible). Extensive menu. French onion soup and the pizza burger were pretty good. Wish the fries were crispier. Feels like you’re transported to the 70s/80s. Very refreshing establishment.
Omg we just so happened to stumble in here while starving and wandering around the city, and let me tell you...THE BEST BURGER I THINK I HAVE EVER HAD!!! And John was the most entertaining and kind server we have had in a long time!! I cannot wait to go back to try more things, their whole menu looked delicious and I can't say enough good things about all of the food. I didn't even get to take pictures of the rest of the food because we were too hungry and anxious to eat the food after John hyped us up so much! Even entertained us by telling us some of the celebrities that have been in in the past! Cannot recommend enough!! The burgers are A M A Z I N G🥰
Nacho Burger! A must-try! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had! I had dinner here a few nights ago, and the atmosphere is very charming with an old-school touch—a true American-style burger joint, worthy of the name. The staff was kind and courteous, and since I couldn’t decide between the various options, I asked for a recommendation. I have to say, I couldn’t have chosen better! Great prices for the area, and the burger was ready in just a few minutes. Highly recommended!
The cheeseburger was amazing — incredibly juicy, but not greasy. You can tell that all the ingredients were fresh. The split pea soup with croutons was comfort food in a bowl, definitely recommend getting it on a cold winter day. Their plain cheesecake was also really fresh. There are some places where you can taste that the cheesecake had been sitting in the fridge for too many days, but not here! It was creamy yet airy, not a dense cheesecake at all.
What an unexpected incredible experience. The food was SO good. The Split pea soup is by far the BEST I’ve ever had. We shared a bacon cheeseburger and steak fries and WOW!! Highly recommend this establishment. Plus the employees are kind and helpful and hilarious. Thanks for treating us to one of our best meals in NYC! (Thank you - Visiting Wisconsin-ites)

Food great, service great, special sauce AMAZING. I've never heard of a sauce mixing mayonnaise and tomatoes together, but apparently, it's a great combination.

Of all the fancy food places in the neighborhood, this aint one, and I like it that way. Just needed a burger n fries. Why not make it a bacon cheesebuger deluxe. These are not pre-made frozen hockey pucks, but a real home style burger. Sorry no food photos, 'cause I devoured mine. Then I had to walk it off. So worth it. By the way, watch the Adam Sandler movie, Big Daddy. Rob Schneider plays a delivery guy from here, thankfully there is no tuna and lamb. Look for Mr. Sandler's photo on the wall.
Been around since the early 70s, the Onion soup was amazing, the grilled cheese with tomato was alright (the American cheese slices weren't melted at all, had a waxy texture and bland taste). Service was friendly and on New Years day, exactly the kind of experience I was looking for. The not NYC not fancy diner vibe.
I used to go to this joint back in the 80s after performing in the Rocky Horror show at the 8th Street Playhouse. Last Sunday I was at a memorial service down Broadway, so I stopped into my old haunt for some comfort food. I ordered a burger cooked medium, beer-battered onion rings and a Brooklyn Lager. I got exactly what I ordered. The burger, albeit a tad bit dry, was a perfect medium and very flavorful. The onion rings were obviously homemade and we're perfection. It's nice to know that some things never change.
Friendly service, cute atmosphere. I had the standard cheeseburger and swapped the fries for onion rings. The onion rings are homemade and you can tell 😋👍👍 As far as the burger it was huge, but overall a normal diner burger. Nothing special, nothing terrible. A-okay burger.
This spot was ok the place was clean and the staff was amicable, the food was ok and good portion, but a bit expensive, I went there with my 11 year old son to have late lunch around 4:PM on a Friday afternoon and we order 2 burgers meal and my bill was $54 dollars, I never pay that amount for 2 burgers and fries and soda , anyway overall it was ok beside that price
What an extensive menu, talk about variety, I cannot recall when I have seen so many burgers available in so many ways with such creative names. Soups, sandwiches and all types of breakfast items including turkey versions of bacon and sausage, which is always a nod to variety. This place is about as central as you can get. We were amongst the NYU students and the pre Halloween folks. It was good food, burgers was thick!!! Woah, I mean grandma made thick, but good. Sorry we smashed the food as soon as it came we blessed the food and it was masticated!!! Just one lackluster item and that was a milkshake, I think my daughter messed up when she referred to it as Pepto-Bismal, because it was a homogeneous pink with no signs of strawberries amongst the mix. Besides that, I’d say it’s worth a try!
Stopped in on a hunt for an open bathroom and decided to grab dinner. Ordered the French onion for myself while the princess ordered a turkey burger. French onion was deeply bold flavor with mild melty cheese and croutons. Turkey burger was hand made and flavorful. Served very large on a thin kaiser that complimented it very well. The place is indeed cozy and staff friendly.
Great local diner. Staff very nice and friendly. We both had burgers, nice size and very good.

I love the owner, food and ambiance of Cozy, but the last 2 times I went there, the owner lit some kind of incense that is reminiscent of the ones they use in a church - Frankincense?\n\nAt any rat…
Prices are very high considering the flavor of food. ambiance and service were okay, nothing special
Indeed a cozy restaurant. The atmosphere was very welcoming. The menu contained something for every taste. I had a burger bacon cheese de luxe = w tomato, lettuce and fries. It was very good.

We were there around 10:30. Hubby had breakfast (eggs, pancakes, sausage and coffee). I had lunch (burger and fries) Food was standard in terms of flavor and presentation. No frills. Portions were ample. Burger was extra large. Server was attentive enough. Pricing was a bit steep, but within New York expectations.
Prices are really expensive for basic diner food. I feel they are stuck in the 90s but charging 2024 prices and it doesn’t make sense. I ordered a Cobb salad, it was 25 dollars and it was NOT edible. They do have decent breakfast food but I don’t know, there are many places that provide the same type of food for a fraction of the price. If you’re looking for nostalgia and reminders of who walked through the doors, sure, but I don’t think it’s worth it when the food or check arrives.
I used to come to this place years ago and really liked it. I returned last night and was very disappointed. The selection of food is smaller and more expensive than most diners, and they very ridiculously add a 3.5% surcharge for paying by card. The food is pretty good. Basically normal diner food, but marked up. The light in the bathroom turns off automatically after about 30 seconds, which is very annoying if you are in the middle of using it. And I could smell cigarette smoke the whole time I was in there (source undetermined). The vibe of the place has gone downhill. One saving grace is that the staff is really nice and friendly. The waitress was very pleasant.
I work in the area so I've been here a few times before. I think the last time I was here was early in the fall of 2024. It was a place to get a decent meal for a reasonable price. The prices have definitely went up since then and there are a lot of extra charges. There is now this red column on the menu that shows customers will be charged extra if they use a credit card. If you look at previous pics of the menu, you'll see somewhat lower prices and that this column was not there. I went this past week and spent $30 on the zucchini sticks appetizer and a BLT. The staff is really cool; however, i don't think these new prices and charges justify the food quality. You'll definitely spend about $30 to $40 on a sandwich combo and appetizer now.
Decent enough for a diner. A bit old fashioned place with seasoned wait staff. A real NYC diner kinda feel here. Food is freshly prepared to order. This spot is frequented by locals alot. There's table service or you can sit at the bar(typical of any diner). Nothing fancy here to write about but the food is good and comes pretty fast. Small spot so at times it can feel a bit crowded. Open 24 hours.
Great atmosphere. Engaging server/ owner. However, the chicken strips were out of a box. Not fresh.

We went here as it was close to the theatre, it was an authentic diner with lots on the menu but nothing that really appealed to me. However the burgers were good, the pastrami good and despite not…
First time going to this place. In the menu it says toasted bun for the turkey burger they gave me a soggy bun not even toasted and I ask for my burger well done, I guess when u order they don't. Care I will not be going back to soup 'n' burger again and for that price should have done better.

Without a shadow of doubt, the most expensive omelette I've eaten in my 54 years on the planet. I had basically a Greek omelette, except that I ordered the tomato and onion separately and it was $27 which is of course absurd for a tiny diner omelette. In total, two omelettes, coffee, tea, side of Turkey Bacon...$90 with tip!!!!???? Outrageous, even for NYC. I paid less for an omelette in Dubai, seriously. Check your bill and menu very, very, carefully.
We went here for dinner and the pancakes were dry. They only gave us 4 chicken fingers and the plate cost $19. when we tried to send it back they said no and they don't know what that means. overall, food and service are bad. atmosphere cool though
