I enjoyed the food so much! Jin is a tiny place right outside the 125st station. On this rainy day, there are people waiting outside the restaurant. I had to wait for over 30 minute to be seated. Use yelp to checkin before you go. Will save you time. I had tonkotsu, karaage and sapporo draft. The noodle is impressive, the broth is very tasty yet not so salty. easily one of the best ramen place in the area!

Came here today and the food was so good! I've had a lot of mid ramen but this place was on point. The sale flight hit. The service was also so great. Monsun and Ricky were very attentive and excellent!

Fantastic spot for a quick bite. Ramen is top notch, plenty of great add ons and the base of each bowl is exceptional. Highly recommend if you're trying to catch lunch in the area.

I enjoyed the food and would definitely go back. The spicy tonkotsu ramen was pretty spicy, true to its word. The other food was good quality. The service was also solid. They have a video that plays on loop that really conveys the message that you're eating extremely high quality ramen.

Ricky and Monsor were incredibly attentive, friendly and strived to make my brother's birthday feel special. They even put on a fun birthday playlist as they brought his cake out. Would recommend to anyone, regardless of the occasion!

I had high hopes for this place as it is on the Michelin Group’s Bib Gourmand list and I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar area which overlooks the kitchen and enjoyed watching the cooks prepare the food. The dumplings and pork ramen I ordered were delicious. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu soon!

I’ve been a long time patron and the food, service and atmosphere is fantastic. I happily recommend to all of my friends and family. Mansor, like all the folks who work here, are fantastic and really make sure i have a great experience. My go to is the spicy tonkatsu ramen but the entire menu is solid.

My father and I absolutely adore this restaurant. Food and service is always amazing and we’re always excited to come and get lunch! Monsur always provides excellent service whenever we come in! We absolutely recommend Jin Ramen 125th!

I have had a love-hate relationship with Jin. When they opened, man, that was a revelation. A ramen spot on 125th by the 1 train??!! You’re bugging. And it was reasonably priced and way above average quality. But as years passed, prices got hiked in what seemed an unreasonable way and the quality of ramen improved across the city. All of a sudden it didn’t seem so special So where does that leave Jin today? From my take today, prices elsewhere have caught up, so it’s once again reasonable (though not cheap). And while I wouldn’t travel across the city for this ramen, I’m super happy that it’s in my neighborhood. When you dine in, the guys (all the waiters have been men) are always quick and attentive. The food is consistent. And the vibe is warm. I’m glad we stuck around.

This spot is my generally go to spot for getting something warm, filling and delicious. I couldn't be more pleased with the attentiveness and outstanding hospitality amongst the servers and chefs at Jin. A very special shout out to Monsur who took my order and gave such a great service. There no way I wouldn't keep coming back. Its the most reliable local spot near me. Jin you have a stand for life! <3 -------------------------------------------------- At my thousandths visit at Jin, want to give another shout out to Monsur, Ricky and the chefs today Hassen and Jefferson, for not only making exquisite, tasty, appetizers. But for always consistently providing the highest tier of hospitality. I'm consistently greeted at the door, can always find a spot to sit, and am always provided with complentary water even before I sit. I cannot emphasize how top notch Jin Ramen WH is, it will forever be a second home, with a extended family feel. If you ever get a chance, please spot by and give it a shot. I promise you will not be disappointed but never wanting to leave. PS. Giving our my own Michelin Star to my Jin Fam.

I’ve been to Jin Ramen twice and it is definitely my favorite ramen place I’ve been to in NYC so far. It’s right across from the H&R Block, so my husband and I have made it a tradition to go there to have dinner or celebrate after we finish our taxes. I love their karaage chicken and shishito peppers. Both are solid appetizers and are executed well. I’ve had the tonkatsu ramen before and this time I got the black garlic yuzu ramen with shishito peppers and karaage and the broth was peppery, spicy, and had a lot of umami. It was great! You cannot go wrong with tonkatsu ramen here -the broth is rich and flavorful. I’ve been to other ramen places in NYC where the broth is so disappointing in comparison- either not rich enough, not enough umami, or too sour. I prefer traditional Japanese ramen over the fusion styles that are rampant across NYC. If you’re looking for high-quality traditional Japanese ramen, Jin Ramen is the place to go!

U

The vegan signature ramen is so flavorful, it is incredible. According to the staff, it has a lot more flavor than meat based ramen options. Highly recommended. Attaching the menu as of Mar 2022.

This is a great place. A friend and I took a suggestion on a rainy afternoon. I ordered a lunch combo with ramen soup and tofu and rice on the side. The broth was perfect, noodles definitely made in house and the portions of the food was just right. The atmosphere was very welcoming and staff was very helpful in giving suggestions. Definitely going to eat here again and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cozy bowl of delicious ramen.

It's a pretty small restaurant, but the service and food are pretty amazing. I usually come here for the rice bowls or ramen on the weekends if I'm near by. It's also super charming. When you enter you're greeted by the door, and when you're ready to eat your food is usually beautifully arranged/presented.

been my go to spot for years. i usually go for their lunch specials before 3pm. their pork buns are addictive, their spicy tonkotsu is my comfort food and their service is always on point. my guy Jason is always welcoming and basically knows what i want before i order it. 10/10

My favorite ramen place in the city. Being close to the place I climb helps :) The house made noodles are quality, and the ingredients and broth are well balanced and flavorful, not too aggressive with salt. The appetizers are also great, with an variety of choices.

Cozy (aren't they all, this one a little more :-)) Ramen joint that has established itself nicely in the area. Delicious choice of Ramen soups with some innovative variations. My favorite is the kimchi but they are all good. Quick and friendly service and nice atmosphere. Busy but I still never had to wait. Tight (intimate) space :-) but always a good experience.

This place is really in the cut, it's à nice restaurant, the ambiance is warm, there's Japanese music playing in the background, and the food SLAPS. They also have a happy hour for people who are into that. The Food isn't expensive, I think its Reasonably priced. After eating you could literally walk one block over to the pier to let your stomach settle from all that food you just ate and look at the views

Omgg...so good! My friend and I were in the mood for some ramen, and we stumbled across this place, and it did not disappoint. I have never had a pork bun where the pork just melted in my mouth as soon as I took a bite, and the bun itself be so light and airy and soft like a pillow. We also had the gyoza and fried chicken, and none of it was greasy. The fried chicken was flaky and easy to chew. And the ramen was well seasoned. Overall I'm very pleased, it was very good.

Never judge a location by the authencitity of staff or the dimly lit decor, otherwise you'll walk right past the best ramen and Japanese food spot in West Harlem. Their offer of 1/2 price apps for dine in guests only, prompted me to walk in and give the location a try. This was my first time at a Jin Ramen and if all the franchise taste the same, I will gladly add this brand to my list of go to Japanese restaurants. Their menu selection is fairly standard and includes the classics like fried chicken bites (karaage) and pork bao. My decided to test the location by ordering my go to items which are the pork buns and the tonkatsu ramen. Both items utilize the pork belly and because its 1/2 priced, I threw in the chashu don to try it 3 ways. The chashu don is mildly flavored, open for guests to customize with more soy sauce or spice if preferred. The pork buns was a winner as I gobbled the two buns down wanting three more. A little messy to eat as it soaks up the house sauce, but definitely worth using your hands for the full experience. Finally the tonkatsu ramen which utilize a 6 hour broth had body without the heavy oil taste. It was a lighter take but conveys the message that it is tonkatsu soup. What really wowed me ontop of the pork bao was the consistency of the ramen. As they make it in house, these noodles picked up the flavor but doesnt bloat or become soggy as I enjoyed my meal. It was truly an eye opening experience and a reminder that you cannot judge a book by its cover, much like a restaurant by its chef. *bonus- this place does delivery which means delicious food is only a click away.

Always come to this location. Most of the time I have the same Server. Ricky is always in a great mood and knows how to speak to the people. Always makes me feel at home. He recommended a new bowl Ramen which was very delicious. I usually get the Tonkotsu ramen but this time I tried the NEW Chicken encebollado Ramen. Great taste and reminds me of a homemade dish my grandmother makes. This place never disappoints. Chicken encebollado ramen and Tonkotsu ramen.

It has taken a bit to get to this review, perhaps four months, however that means nothing compared to the quality of the meal, the places mastery of chefing, with their open kitchen, and smiles to go around for anyone who enters. I found their little customer card which was given to me by my server Monsur who was very attentive and pleasant. The chef, Hasan knows his craft well and it is simple to understand why the business moves along and is successful. A perfect chew of the noodles and flavorful bites down to drinking the broth as a last treat of the meal, shall be your way when you order their ramen dishes. The pork bun appetizer was also splendid, the balance of flavors was pinpoint. Anyone who enjoys a lovely bowl of ramen and wants a fair price without waiting in a massive line in manhattan ought to visit this little hideaway. Much love and success to JinRamen upper west in Harlem

I only gave the food to four star. This is probably my problem but they add a little bit too much broth and I don’t like that so that’s why I’m gonna give it a 4 star but other than that this is a really good authentic ramen shop. I loved it I would come back again.

Delicious spot, especially convenient for folks in West or Central Harlem, and right by the 125th St 1 train stop. I had the spicy tonkotsu ramen and a side of karaage, both of which were excellent. The ramen serving was generous in a rather large bowl. The chashu slices were very tender and a good thickness, and had a delicious sweet glaze on them. The broth was rich and the meal was filling without needing to order more noodles. Not cheap but not too expensive either, especially considering the high quality. I’m definitely planning to go back and try some other options. My food was served quickly after ordering, but I felt like the service after that wasn’t particularly attentive - no waiter checked in after I got my food, and I had to wait around for a while after finishing before I could get the check. Not a huge deal though, and the servers were still polite and the food was excellent.

I first visited this restaurant 10 years ago, and the taste and aroma of their dumplings stayed with me ever since. After a decade, I just had to come back — and I was absolutely blown away! Loved both ramen and fried rice. Fried rice seemed to be based on butter + soy sauce, and that’s my fav flavor base for fried rice so can’t complain at all. Ramen had very good broth that was flavorful and thick enough, but not too salty and not too thick. I really liked its balance. Noodle was slightly softer than my preference and chasu was bit drier than I hoped, but the broth was really spot on for me and I would love to get the ramen here again if next chance.

Absolutely the best ramen in Uptown Manhattan, and undoubtedly one of the top 3 ramen spots in NYC! I've visited Jin Ramen several times, and it's always a fantastic experience. Today, I had the vegetarian ramen with miso stock, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, perfectly seasoned, and an excellent choice for a New Year's Eve lunch. This is a very popular spot among students at Columbia so we decided to go. I had already heard a lot about this place, and was not disappointed. We were able to get a table easily. Delicious ramen restaurant I've been meaning to try for awhile and it certainly lived up to its rave reviews Ordered edamame and kara-age to start which were both tasty. The kara-age was moist chicken thigh nuggets and the spicy mayo dipping sauce was such a good pairing. Normal and karu Tonkotsu ramen were both tasty. The pork was okay but the broth was flavorful. Served with a softboiled egg, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and noodles. Would definitely come back here again when in the mood for noodle soup

Ramen is my ultimate comfort food whatever time of the year, whatever weather or climate I may be in I need Ramen. I stopped by Jin Ramen as a newish New Yorker as my first ramen experience it was decent. I went for lunch which they do specials for some dishes from 11:30am to 3:30pm (Spicy Tonkotsu was $16 instead of $19) the spot is small and clean. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered a Sapporo Black, Spicy Tonkotsu Pork Ramen, and a side of Chicken Karaage. The Ramen was good just not spicy at all I even proceeded to get the Volcano side to spice things up... Still nothing maybe my spice tolerance is beyond restaurant spicy now. Chicken Karaage was good. I would definitely recommend. I will definitely be back!

Perfect place for a quick bite before or after class! I ordered the classic shoyu ramen and my friend got the spicy ramen. The portion size is pretty big, but some parts of my noodles were clumped together. It was slightly hard to eat but the flavor was great! The service is good as well.

I had basic tonkatsu ramen. My husband had a vegetarian curry dry noodle. I like mine but he doesn't like his food very much. The place was a little cold with a/c on the day we were there. The service was so-so.

T
Ted Ngai

It's a solid 3.5 stars, it's one of the better ramen place that has solid basic shio, shoyu, miso, and tonkatsu options. I never tried their other gimmicky fusion ramen so can't comment on them. This place is your no frills neighborhood ramen shop, you're not paying for presentation and they don't care for it. Case in point, my ramen came with a beautiful egg hidden under a giant wooden spoon and I didn't even notice it was there... Same can be said of the service, the place was half full but we had to wait for a loooong time for the staff to come take our orders, didn't even ask us for drinks. But again, if you expect the level of service similar to a food stall next to a train station in Tokyo, then you should be a happy customer.

I’ve been coming to Jin Ramen - West Harlem for a long time now, even traveling from New Jersey because we genuinely love the food and the atmosphere. The ramen is consistently great, and the vibe is always cozy and enjoyable. That said, service can be hit or miss. During our most recent visit, our assigned server, Monsoul, wasn’t very welcoming. He didn’t say much, took a while to come over after seating us, and seated us directly in front of the door where all the cold air comes in. When I politely asked to move to an open seat that wasn’t occupied, he said no. On a positive note, another server, Ricky, completely turned the experience around. He was super friendly, attentive, and offered us the seat we originally asked for without hesitation. He honestly did most of the service for us, even though he wasn’t our main server and had his own section (which Monsoul mentioned when I asked if anyone else could help). Ricky truly went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of, and it made a big difference. Food-wise, everything was excellent as always. My favorite is the konkuni ramen (hope I spelled that right), and the atmosphere remains one of the reasons we keep coming back. Overall, amazing food and ambiance — service just depends on who you get. Big shoutout to Ricky for exceptional service.

We ordered delivery and found the food to be fine, but not memorable enough to return. The tonkotsu and spicy tonkotsu had decent richness, but both leaned overly salty, which overpowered the broth and made the bowls feel heavy by the end. The kimchi pork don was similarly salt-forward, with flavors that didn’t quite balance out. The pork buns (ordered via a B1G1 promo) were probably the highlight—soft buns and tender pork—but even those didn’t fully offset the overall saltiness of the meal. Nothing was bad, and everything arrived intact, but for us this isn’t a place we’d go out of our way to order from again. If you like very bold, salty ramen, Jin Ramen might work for you; if you prefer more nuanced, balanced broths, this may not be your spot.

Both of us were unfamiliar with West Harlem and we ended up coming to Jin Ramen, a ramen spot recommended in Michelin Bib Gourmand. They have an extensive menu with all types of ramen and brothless ramen. Overall it’s a good ramen spot and worth a try if you’re near one of their three locations in the city. The kuro tonkotsu features a rich broth packed with black garlic oil aroma. The grilled cha shu was smoky and perfectly glazed with sweet sauce. The soft-boiled egg was cooked to perfection. They used thin noodles which held the soup pretty well. My friend ordered their signature spicy tonkotsu. The broth was quite spicy in Japanese food standard, but not overbearing. A nice option if you want to spice up your ramen. You can get a complimentary yuzu drink if you order an entree. It was so refreshing for this weather and cleansed our palate after the meal.

Solid. Salmon app stayed crispy during delivery. Ramen also delivered well. The beef rice bowl was the star. Superior in taste and great value. Fed two of us. Overall, I’d order again.

I had a mixed experience. The first time I went it was amazing. The food came quickly even though it was crowded and it was amazing. I regretted not switching my noodle type to curly because it looked more like traditional ramen where as my flat noodles seemed more like flattened udon. But the black garlic oil was really good, and even the salad exceeded my expectations. The second time I went though, it took a long time for my curry udon to come, and when it did, it was only average. The katsu on it was stringy and hard to chew in places. The Karaage was super good though. I'm still going to go again though. I think the experience you have at this restaurant depends a lot on what you order and whose working at the time.

The pork bun appetizer was so good that i ate them both before i remembered i wanted to take a picture. I love the ramen here its always delicious. Great broth very tasty ramen. However, i have continued to not love the service. They simply are not that attentive but if you are not super fragile the food makes up for any indiscretions with service. Will definitely be going back to try their flight of sakis.

Our server, Ricky, was wonderful! Super attentive, and fast service. Ramen itself was decent. Noodles cooked well. Taste was ok. Not much chicken flavor in my broth. But overall, satisfactory

The ramen was fairly mediocore in every way. The broth was lacking in umami. I ordered the kuro tonkatsu and was expecting the punch of black garlic and didn't get a punch of anything. The noodles were not very springy and the chasiu was hairline thin. I also question their choice in adding these deep fried green peppers as the vegetables of the dish. With all the great ramen in NYC I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here. But a mediocre bowl of ramen is ramen nonetheless.

3.5 stars. It’s pretty good, definitely among the best options in Harlem. I had the volcano shio ramen with the volcano paste on the side to spice it myself. GREAT CHOICE. It’s delicious but super spicy. Not for the spice sensitive lol. My partner had the curry ramen which was five stars. If I ordered that my review may have been higher. The cocktails taste like they come out of a can. Crazy sweet! The decor is great, lots of fun posters. I’ve been twice now, it’s an easy walkable option.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff that answered all of our questions and provided recommendations. The table primarily got tonkotsu ramen and the broth was extremely salty which made the dinner not so great

11.10.17 - It's clearly a popular spot among [I assume], among Columbia University's Undergrad and Grad students and the locals. I think the food is generally good, but it's not worthy of traveling out of the way for ramen. While waiting to be seated I was watched the full video twice and if everything is true, it's a hardcore operation in preparing the soba noodles and the broth; essentially it's a 24 hours operation. Nevertheless, is the food so good that it demands a strong following from across the City? I can't argue against it's nutritional value as the video claims of Soba Noodles, but aside from that, is the food that good compared to other touted ramen shops like Jun-Men, Mu, Ippudo, Nakamura, Ivan Ramen, Totto, Ganso, Rai Rai Ken, Ramen Lab, etc (we've repeatedly been to many more), no it's as good. If I cared solely on nutrition then I'd want Jin Ramen next door to me, but I'm capable of eating extremely clean and ramen isn't exactly the cleanest food considering the required ingredient of meat. Bottom line is, Jin is a good ramen shop, and just like Japan where there are thousands of ramen shops with their unique followings, if that's your preference then you're good to go. However, if you want really good ramen that's distinguished from each other, then find the one from the list above. Service was fast and friendly. The food came hot and well made. The cost per bowl was generally in line with other ramen shops.

The ambience is cosy and welcoming but I wasn't impressed with the Volcano Shio Ramen I ordered. The texture of the noodles was too soft and had the consistency of overdone instant noodles. Perhaps I ordered the wrong menu item as the tonkotsu seemed a more full-bodied broth with better noodles.

1)The food was excellent big flavor bowls, great apps. But the customer service was subpar. First when I walk in the host/waiter asked me how many I told him told 3. Since my friends weren't with me he told me I had to wait to be seated. Which is understandable. 2) as I walked to the waiting area I ask if I can have a drink well I wait. He responded Yes! But than brush me off and pointed to seat as if I was a (Dog)! ! And on top of that they never gave me my drink! As I waited. So I want down the street instead to grab a drink 3) As I return with my sister we asked if we could seat further down. The waiter responded if you seat down there you'll be forgotten and won't get service. As a server myself I couldn't fathom every telling a guest they would be forgotten! 4)As my uncle walk in to seat with us. They harassed him as if he was a hobo walking off the street to use the bathroom! 5) Are server was actually quite attentive and friendly, but the hosts/ server that treated me like a dog and treatment Uncle like he wasn't welcome was horrible!

I was a bit disappointed with the food here. My friend and I both got tonkotsu, and it made us pretty ill a couple hours later. It was also quite pricey for somewhat subpar ramen. The 2 stars is mainly for the food poisoning— my friend and I both threw up the next morning, so I am assuming the ramen broth had gone bad.

Service was quick and efficient, they have lunch prices which helps the wallet a little bit. I got the pork baos and they were way over sauced, the sweet sauce overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. As for the tonkotsu ramen, it was very oily and not very flavorful. The noodles were too Al dente for my liking, I like it to be a bit softer.

Came here with my friend for our annual ramen date-- a little tradition we unintentionally started a few years ago. The space is small but can has many small tables and the ambiance is cool with dim lighting and different photos and even action figure pieces on the walls. We got the veggie gyozas and karaage to start which left a lot to be desired, to put it simply the food lacked flavor :/ as our time there went on and we waited for our main dish, ramen, our waiter barely attended us and we had to flag him down several times to ask for more water, napkins and drinks. Even when my friend returned her drink bc she didn't like it after just one sip, the waiter rolled his eyes and gave us such a deep sigh, we found the interaction very rude as if we had insulted him directly. Finally our ramen came out. I got the shrimp ramen and my friend the chicharron ramen. It was much more flavorful than the appetizers but nothing very special. The consensus: we've had better elsewhere. I wouldn't highly recommend this place considering the service was significantly lacking and the food was mid at best....

First everything was fresh but the flavors are off. Ordered the Mabo Tofu Dry Ramen, a side of Wakame plus a drink through Seamless but sadly it’s a no for me and my fiancé. The dry ramen was so extremely sweet that I stopped eating it after 2 bites. And I could be wrong but I think the Mabo Tofu is supposed to be a rendition of the Mapo Tofu (Sichuan). Either way it was not edible and the Wakame was also overly sweet (usually there’s just a pinch of sugar in it, if at all). Authentic Japanese cuisine is rarely so overly sweet/salty but this just didn’t seem authentic at all. If they’re heavy handed when using sugar, I can only imagine how salty the other dishes must be.

Horrible experience all their options is spicy “Ramen”They have nothing that is non spicy so if you have a low spicy tolerant, I don’t recommend this place. The Ramen was disgustingly bland . No taste whatsoever really bad experience unfortunately the only thing that was really tasty and good was the dumplings, but you cannot go wrong with dumping

Literally some of the worst ramen I've ever had in my life. The pork bone broth is super salty, has zero taste of pork (pork broth should be milky white, not a clearish brown like miso; I can guarantee they're not making their broth from scratch). The noodles are also super low quality and taste like instant. They also have few other ingredients or vegetables in it and they're really low quality. It had bamboo shoots that were uncooked, cold, and hard (clearly refrigerated and thrown in just before serving). The only positive is the chashu is pretty good. Would never come back given it was $18. I genuinely wonder if people giving it 5 stars have actually had good ramen before.
