Agra Taj Mahal Brooklyn Reviews
Me and my friends have made lists of our favorite Indian restaurants in williamsburg and Greenpoint and Agra is at the top of our lists. The interior is understated, but that is the point, this is a place that focuses on the food not on insta fame. The spices are strong and the hospitality is tremendous. Agra is a greenpoint institution that if you’re missing out on you clearly don’t understand the value.
We come here every week, amazing food, great value and our friend Alibaba is always providing the best service to us
Very tasty food and very affordable prices , staff is always very friendly and it is also a great take out option (food is ready within 10 minutes)... they have a great selection of vegetarian dishes and other tasty items on their menu.
This is the best restaurant in New York! I love Agra Taj Mahal!
Great waiter, very accommodating and made us feel very welcomed. We went on a random night this was the only place open on a Wednesday thanksgiving eve night. The food was exceptional everything 10/10.
This would be a great take out curry house. The service and atmosphere were a little lacking, but the food was awesome. They had all the extras like rice with each curry and free chips and chutneys. We loved it! If you are looking for more bang for your buck, this one is better than the Bombay next door!
I was at the Coffee & Tea festival this past Sunday & found what is Definitely a gem in Greenport. Plentiful portions but more importantly flavorful & DELicious! The best Garlic Naan I've experienced, along with vegetable biranyi The appetizer sampler of tika, samora, papadum along with the mint, tamarind, onion sauces were excellent. And a complimentary lentil soup sample also. The owner & his staff were very nice guys also.
ANOTHER UPDATE 12/19 Unbelievably perfect again. How is it possible to be this delicious every single time? Lol. Order anything on the menu n feel 100% comfortable that it will be delicious. It’s to the point now where I’m torn n don’t kno what to order bc it’s all sooooo delicious ha! Lately I’ve been hooked on the samosa. Don’t forget their bread is the best in Brooklyn. Yum!!! FURTHER UPDATE: A great thing about this restaurant n about Brooklyn/NYC...we really r the city that never sleeps. I worked late n wanted world class Indian food but it was 1:00 AM :( No worries, Agra Taj Mahal is open til 4:00 AM!!! It’s a wonderful thing lol. I went over n sat down n was served a multi course meal created by true culinary artists. Take a look at some of the newly added pics. A steaming puffed up n beautiful poori bread started it all off for me bc I’m a bread fanatic lol. Insanely perfect vegetable samosa...chicken...rice...so much more. I only took pics of some bc I couldn’t stop eating, sorry. Next time u stare at a computer all day long n then ur starved n want real legit Indian food AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL...check these folks out. Open til 4:00 AM, people. That’s New York. #Brooklyn UPDATED REVIEW: I’m a VERY Italian guy from Brooklyn so it is my duty...my obligation to tell u where to find the BEST bread in Brooklyn. The absolute best bread in Brooklyn can be found at this wonderful Indian restaurant. The food is all delicious here and they really do have the best bread, of any type, in Brooklyn HIDING RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE: This place is one of THE BEST Indian restaurants in Brooklyn and it is right at the end of my street. If it’s been a while for u... try them again because I tried this place when I first moved here n recently tried them again n IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! I don’t remember it being this great!!!! What a pleasant surprise. I’ve been eating their bread as a snack lately n it’s outta control delicious!!!! This is a must-try for ur list.
The food was good. The service was adequate as well. We tried the chillie beef, garlic naan, lamb biriyani and chicken madras. Everything was delicious but kinda disappointed at the chicken madras which was basically a bit spicy version of chicken curry. Other than that the presentation and arrangement was as expected; excellent!
This was a delivery order. Beyond Menu actually accepted a delivery that was 45 minutes away from the restaurant (Brooklyn to Manhattan). I tried to cancel it by calling the restaurant to halt delivery. Their delivery person would be driving for a long time to get to my apartment and return to the restaurant. Too late though. It was a long time between ordering and arrival but there is a silver cloud. The food is really good. If they are willing to deliver to Manhattan again I'm happy to order again. I recommend you order the Indian dishes you like. All of ours were really good. Have to give them a 5 star for service as well.
Food was tasty, they’re open late, and the person I ordered from was friendly for a late night takeout order. But, they’ve fallen into the all too common low quality Indian takeaway mindset that in order to sell food they need to put food coloring in everything. The chicken tikka is jam packed with red 40, the mint chutney was pumped full of green no. 3, etc. I’ve worked at a few Indian restaurants that have done the same thing and I never understood it. I avoid food colorings like the plague so I won’t be returning. I hope they change their ways because I’d love to support this business in the future.
We just had the most bizarre and disappointing interaction. We walked into the restaurant around noon to let the host know that we had a group of 6, but we were just waiting for 2 ppl (who were looking for parking). The restaurant was open (doors were open), and the place was completely empty. The host came out from the back, and when we told him how many ppl, he just kept saying no and shaking his head. There was no explanation given. After we walked out, someone walked back and asked why, and he finally said that he had no servers. If that was the case, there should be a sign or at least tell us that immediately, instead of just repeating the word no, shaking your head, and walking away. I understand if there was a lack of staff, but that customer service was terrible.
I have my go to Indian spot but they were closed, so tried this instead. One thing I’ve learned about saag; if it isn’t green, it’s going to taste like crap. Saag is a spinach dish; the recipes where it’s actually green seem to coincide with places knowing how to cook the dishes right. My saag + garlic naan didn’t seem to taste like anything other than spiciness, which is a sensation, not a flavor. Not entirely sure where the “garlic” part of the naan was either. My stomach is full and my mouth has residual spiciness in it but other than that I can’t say I know what I just ate as there didn’t seem to be anything to it other than spice and calories
Walked in with my group to an empty restaurant and the only employee inside said no. Absolutely no reason or explanation as to why. Just kept saying no. Don’t bother coming here. Not even sure why the restaurant was open.
"I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was tasteless, and the meat seemed far from fresh. It was so bad that I ended up throwing everything in the trash. I would strongly advise against dining here, as the quality of the food is extremely poor."
You'll never get your food delivered on time, if ever. 1st time I ordered from them the food was 35 minutes late, I understand things could happen so I didn't think too much, second time I ordered they were 40 minutes late, last and final time I ordered from them they were 50 minutes late and I just had to cancel the order and ask for a refund via seamless. Calling them is no help they keep saying "our guys is on the way". And no I don't live far from them so traffic or anything of that sort cant be an issue
