Allswell Brooklyn Reviews
The mushroom flatbread is to die for. Anything with fried chicken is a must. Stumbled upon this place on a hot day and so thankful to find such a gem
I stopped doing reviews in maps, but after eating this dish I felt I had to share this hidden gem. The medium rare stake is one of the best meat dishes I have tasted lately. High quality meat, well cooked and the cauliflower combination is a gift to the soul. Definitely if you go you need to try it
I’ve been a regular at Allswell on Bedford Avenue for the past few years, and it has truly become my favorite neighborhood spot. The cozy ambiance and consistently delicious food make it a place I return to time and again. One of the standout dishes for me is their grilled cheese with roasted tomato. The crispy sourdough, melted cheese, and the addition of a sweet jam create a perfect balance of flavors that’s both comforting and indulgent. It’s a must-try! The Source Bowl is another favorite—it’s a hearty and wholesome mix of sautéed kale, black miso rice, marinated chicken, and Thai basil. It’s a complete meal that leaves you satisfied. I also can’t get enough of the pork belly lettuce wraps. The combination of tender pork, fresh herbs, and crunchy lettuce is both refreshing and flavorful. Their steak and fries are top-notch, and the tres leches dessert is a delightful way to end any meal. The bao buns, offered with various fillings like spicy lemongrass sausage or grilled Thai chicken, are a great appetizer to start with. While there was one dish that didn’t quite hit the mark for me, it’s hardly worth mentioning given the overall excellence of the menu. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Allswell is a gem in Williamsburg, offering a menu that’s both inventive and comforting. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a meal—you won’t be disappointed.
Loved the sourdough bread and edamame dip. Nachos and tacos were equally great
This place feels like home I go there so often. Best frozen drinks in Brooklyn. Best burger in NYC. Nachos if I wanna be bad, the source bowl if I wanna be good, crispy chicken salad somewhere in the middle. Everything’s good. Oh, I forgot the butterscotch pudding. A hidden gem for those in the know. Best dessert on Bedford by far.
This is a really cute place with very chill staff and atmosphere. Came for happy hour but ended up getting regular menu drinks that were quite delicious (Negroni and the summer frozen drink) The nachos were really great even without meat. Would definitely recommend and come back to try the chicken sandwich everyone seemed to be enjoying!
I love this place so much! They have so many delicious things on the menu (chicken sando, amazing salads, burger, nachos) that I can never get tired of eating here. The music is always the best, and they have an awesome crew. Oh and my favorite frozen drink the Brain Freeze!
We went here for dinner with 5 people. I made a reservation for 8:45pm at 8:00pm. A reservation seems like a must on a Friday/Saturday night. Other people who didn’t have a reservation were told at 8:45 that they would have to wait an hour to eat. The meal was fabulous! I really enjoyed the shrimp curry. My friend enjoyed the grilled cheese with tomato. My fiancé enjoyed the chicken sandwich. Prices were very reasonable and food was very tasty. I liked the variety of food on their menu! Ambiance was very nice & servers were very helpful with allergies. Would highly recommend!
Cozy place for brunch. All the outside seats were taken but we got a nice window booth with windows that opened. The breakfast burrito was enormous and incredibly delicious. Chicken sandwich was also outstanding. Table next to us ordered the biscuit benedict which looked incredible. Will definitely return.
Really good service here.Excellent burgers and the battered onion rings are delicious .Corner window seat is great for people watching.
Been there twice and looking forward for the next time. Had there avocado toast with soft boiled egg, and the next time tried the fried chicken. Both were pretty amazing. But as they always say, “the secret in the sauce”- they have amazing hot sauces that make every delicious dish become even more delicious. So if you love hot sauce this is the place for you, and if not, you still gonna enjoy the fresh products and the friendly staff. Very recommended.
Nice chill place during the weekday. Had the crispy chicken sandwich. It was great. Also celebrated my buddy's birthday with their yummy nectarine blueberry cobbler! I mentioned it was his birthday when we arrived and they served the cobbler on the house! I've been here for brunch as well. Weekends are crowded but staff is nice and accommodating and food is good.
The chicken tacos were delicious. The service was great, super friendly waiter. Would recommend :)
We had a fantastic dinner at Allswell! The restaurant is beautiful and cozy, and the service was excellent. Ellen, our server, treated everyone in the restaurant like an old friend (even though we'd never met!), and was helpful and attentive. I had a warm, spiced cider, which was delicious and strong. The food was fantastic, and my chicken sandwich was juicy, flavorful, and crispy.
Best chicken sandwich that I have ever had. Chicken was cooked to perfection. Hot and moist! Just the right amount of breading. 10/10 for a chicken sandwich. As is the case with every restraint in the area, it is a bit noisy inside.
My sister and brother-in-law were visiting NYC from California and had heard about this restaurant. We made the journey and WOW!! We were so pleased!!! It did not disappoint!! I'm a french fry expert and their version is natural, wholesome and flavorful!! They bake their own bread and it elevated the chicken sandwich I had to a superior level. We will definitely be back!!!!!
Really comfortable outdoor seating for COVID! You need to go to the entrance for menus, then grab a table. Then go back to order. A little clumsy, but it works well after that. They quickly bring the food to your table and it's so delicious! The crispy chicken sandwich was incredible! The burgers all looked great too. Hard to choose but you can't go wrong with your selection as it all looked great! After you go to the door to pay, you leave. They then come by and clean everything! Very safe and Covid friendly. Enjoy!
This place looks fair but serves some really good stuff. I always go for the burger, which has a great bun and spectacular bacon. The hot sauce they have in a little 2 oz. bottles is also killer. The source bowl slams, too. The staff is cool, and they have decent beers on tap... I recommend the hard slushee too if you're into that type of thing.
Delicious food spot! The food is so good!! Brunch options and lunch dishes! They have an amazing Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which is 10/10 recommend! The staff was incredibly friendly and the cocktails were strong for the price! The Brain Freeze cocktail was out of the world. The inside was a cool rustic feel with a full bar.
Great local spot for brunch! Almost the entire menu is under $20. Outdoor seating and indoor. We went at noon on Sunday and we’re able to be seated inside right away. I got the corn beef hash. Really tasty homemade hash with sage and rosemary seasoning. I just wish the egg was a little more runny for an over easy preparation (vs being on the more medium side) so I could get that perfect bite of eggy hash. Servers are also nice and attentive. Was able to get free refills on my drip!
Holy smokes… this chicken sandwich might very well be one of the best I’ve ever had. It was massive and cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside and super juicy on the inside. The bun was soft and delicious. It gave me kings Hawaiian vibes and tasted so good. We also had a few cocktails which were great. If you like frozen drinks, get the Brainfreeze. It’s super refreshing. Overall great spot with a fun vibe.
The onion rings are so fresh light and airy, hand made to perfection the classic burger was to die for so juicy and the bun so soft 😋 so good. Hit the spot
Allswell is very well! Last weekend, we had a chance to visit Williamsburg, Brooklyn and my GF said she's wanted to try Allswell for a long time ago. So here we are! We had two burgers, Allswell the signature, and Cali Burger. It's all good, done, finished the review! lol. I liked mine, Allswell burger because their pickles were very juicy, sour... (my saliva comes out now). (-_-" Also, my GF liked Cali burger because of the avocado (she's an avocado big fan. However, I've felt their burger bread was good, but not great. The meat was ok, everything was ok, but it's not ok ok. If I have to rate their food, I might say 6-7 points. but there was nothing wrong. Deco was great and classic, (old is gold, right?). Staffs were friendly and gave me winks a lot. lol What we noticed was they were very packed, customers in & out all the time, and they were cashless. So you have to scan QR, order, pay & tip through the online system. #director_eat_out
One of my favorite restaurants in Williamsburg for over 7 years. Their burger and fries, yes fries… is one of the best I’ve had in NYC/BK. Their staff is always friendly and the food is sooooo consistent it’s scary! Kudos to the chef! Cocktails are always nice and the ambiance of the inside is always cute for a date. #love
A really cool place. I'd describe it as an old-school tavern with upscale drinks and food. We stopped in for drinks and nachos. Very good and unique. Service was great. Reasonably priced
Cute spot with a really cozy vibe. The edamame dip was amazing. They were out of a few desserts, which was a little disappointing (for me, at least), but probably a blessing in disguise. Full espresso bar in the back, and the cider was super dry and solid. Would definitely come back.
Allswell is a weekly spot for me. I love sitting in the booth at the bar and catching up with my favorite bartender, James. I usually alternate between the source bowl and the house salad with crispy chicken, but I always order a side of fries (they change their oil daily). I also really appreciate that they make a proper, in-house ají hot sauce. James is a true mixologist—an experienced, vetted bartender—and the bar offers an excellent selection of both cocktails and mocktails. The ambiance is warm and old-school Brooklyn, with exposed wood beams and stained-glass chandeliers. Consistent every time.
The burger is a solid 9.5/10. Cooked exactly how you want it and tastes freshhhh. The fries are absolutely amazing too. We ordered an extra size because the entire table was eating my fries And my friends enjoyed their dishes as well. They got the Source bowl and Pork belly wraps. The service was great too ❤️
We’ve eaten here a couple times in the last few months and it’s rarely let us done. Surprisingly some of the best huevos rancheros in Williamsburg are delivered here. The eggs Benedict are great and the French toast. The only let down was the egg tacos which seemed very uninspired and kinda bland. But we will forgive them for that just this once.
My friend and I both ordered the chicken sandwich, spicy, and sat outside. I've had many chicken sandwiches in this city, but none this size. It was crispy, crunchy, tender, filling, but not spicy (that's fine, spice is relative and restaurants have to cater to their neighborhood). The fries and drinks were also great. Definitely coming back.
Hanging out in Williamsburg with the Misses and we wanted to try this place based on the stars it had, Mann this place Hits! I had the chicken sandwich and fries 🤦🏽♂️ this ain’t no ordinary chicken sandwich This thing is a monster! It’s Two chicken breast cooked to perfection! I got the fixings and the bun they have is awesome! Long story short,It’s in my top 2 chicken sandwich’s EVER 😋😋 If you don’t believe me go try one yourself and you will become a believer 😍. Ok next is the Unbelievably delicious burger the misses had, just awesome! the Smokey taste the fixings just Delicious Mann! Ok last but certainly not least, THE FRESH CUT FRIES,trust me they are a MUST! One of the best restaurant fries I’ve ever had period hands down.👍🏽 And the service is top notch 👍🏽 My server was Damian D.and his crew ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Definitely one of the best brunches you can get in Williamsburg. Cozied up restaurant with big portions that are ready to cure that hangover from last night. Food with tons of flavor and uniqueness. Menu offers both traditional and non-traditional brunch items, with the traditional ones usually having some sort of spin on them.
I heard a lot about Allswell, haven't had the chance to go until very recently and I was not disappointed. The service was absolutely outstanding, and the food extremely tasty. My eggs Benedict were almost perfect. The sides are also quite good, I recommend the biscuit and the sausage, one of the juiciest I've ever had. The restaurant is also quite pretty and welcoming. Awesome place, I warmly recommend it.
The place has a good vibe BUT as a former bartender you CANNOT have drinks in batches. My wife wanted to Marie Shelby without Elderflower and the bartender’s response was that he could not make it as they make the drinks in “batches”. My feedback is to get tired of the batches and ensure you have mixologists to take care of the customer.
I've attended this establishment multiple times with family, and the food is amazing. frequently bring my family here because I love how much care and dedication go into preparing the meals. The staff is exceptional in many positive ways, and their commitment truly stands out. Unfortunately, amidst all this greatness, there is one individual who detracts from the experience. The lady with ponytails who works behind the bar has been noticeably rude, whether intentionally or unintentionally. This behavior stands in stark contrast to the otherwise wonderful team. I hope this feedback helps improve the overall experience.
Got a spicy chicken sandwich and the Thai chicken bowl. The sandwich was good, big but not great and could have been a lot spicier. The bowl was really tasty but had barely any chicken. Really good bloody marys though! It’s an alright hipster American diner but nothing really special overall.
Great weekend brunch with friendly staff and both indoor and outdoor seating. Loved the house salad with grilled chicken! The pickled onion and radish made it taste fresh and crunchy. Weekend brunch runs 11-4.
Great spot in the neighborhood. Food isn’t much to write home about but it’s good enough. Staff are lovely and kind and the vibe is terrific so I recommend going for a few drinks and maybe ordering a snack or something simple to share.
Allswell Est. 2011 Layout/atmosphere *Bar area; tables; green leather booths; Tiffany light fixtures; a chandelier; tables on sidewalk; covered outdoor dining structures in street on Bedford Avenue and North 10 Street Service *Took a little bit for the food to come out Food/drink *Classic Allswell Burger (Edelweiss Havarti, sliced red onion, pickles) with French fries - really good; soft, seeded, square bun; juicy patty; cheese & vegetables balanced out; ketchup and mayo on the side; thick cut fries - crispy, well salted *Radeberger Pilsner (draft) - OK
I've been here before for brunch and had a great time - quick service and tasty food / drinks. However, when we came again for drinks on a Saturday night, we had a very different experience. The wait staff was short with us and walked away from our table multiple times before we were done ordering or asking questions. Took us a while to flag them down again to get our check at the end of the night. Seemed like they were uninterested in serving us because we were only there for drinks and not dinner.. even though most of the tables in the restaurant were empty. Someone at our table tried the El Topo cocktail and had to down a whole glass of water after one sip because it was so spicy. The ambiance is great, but I'm not sure what happened this time around.
The food was also underwhelming: the fish and chips, roast chicken, and portobello mushroom burger with onion rings lacked flavor and presentation. The only standout dish at our table was the green curry with shrimp. Unfortunately, there were issues with our bill, and we were left waiting at our table for a period of time while the staff sorted it out, which ultimately soured the evening.
Good food. But they add money for mixed drinks. If you order a mixed drink they add $2 for a splash of juice ($14 + $2) The restaurant was empty, so maybe the up charge is a turn off for more than just me. Probably will just keep walking buy.
The food was pretty good. The vibe was a little "off" and I can't quite put my finger on it. We had 3 different servers stop by our table, so service felt inconsistent, and each seemed a bit aloof. I couldn't help but continue to wonder if by picking this spot we might have missed out on some fantastic place nearby on bustling Bedford Ave.
Friendly and attentive staff. We tried the chicken nuggets which had a lot of breading on them, good flavor and a little too chunky in my opinion . The mushroom flatbread pizza was pretty good. It needed a little sauce on the side in my opinion or spice. Nice atmosphere inside with dim candlelight which gave cozy vibes. You also had the option to sit outside and enjoy those types of vibes as well.
From reading the reviews, I think maybe brunch is the play here, not dinner … Pros: • Burger is great • Nice location / ambiance and good outdoor seating Cons: • Took two minutes for hostess to acknowledge us / seat us • Was out of the beer I wanted from the menu • Our side of onion rings arrived 20 minutes after the entrees. If anything, should have come before/ with the entrees? • Source bowl had a small serving of chicken + veggies were v oily • They charge a 3.6% credit card fee … which is weird for a restaurant like this?
Had a baffling experience there on 3/1/25. We were sat after a 20 minute wait and asked to order immediately before the kitchen transitioned from the brunch menu. Understandable but it would have been nice to have been told that this was the case when we put our names in to sit down. Proceeded to order two burgers and a couple drinks. The food came out 10-20 minutes later but was mistakenly given to the couple next to us who had been seated 5 minutes before and did not order burgers (side note to customers: maybe don't eat someone else's food that obviously isn't what you ordered? They proceeded to talk about how quick the service was and how great it was that they got burgers when they ordered salads, lol). The wait staff eventually realized what happened when we flagged them down another 15 min later but didn't apologize or take any accountability, just asked if we wanted two more burgers without letting us know if anything would be comped, if they'd prioritize the replacement food coming out quickly, anything. Hungry and angry at this point we just finished our drinks and told them we were leaving. We flagged down our server to ask if we could give feedback to the manager (as we would have preferred to do that rather than leave an online review) only to be told that there wasn't one because everyone manages themselves. Again no apology or anything. The wine was good though!
$13 for greenstate beer? You get them from the distributor for 3-4 a can. The owner is ripping people off so bad.
Used to be a solid restaurant, but lately the food has been much too inconsistent (and we are literally talking about preparing a burger and fries) plus lazy and uninterested staff, make the experience less enjoyable than one would hope.
I had a shady experience. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner and the waiter “opened” and poured the four glasses at the bar as opposed to the customary opening of the bottle at the table. We ultimately had the bottle replaced cause the wine was funky. The service was rushed and it wasn’t the experience we had here five years ago. I would recommend it. Not the old Williamsburg.
Service was wonderful, but food quality was questionable. I had stomach ache after I ate there.
I ordered the grilled portobello burger and was incredibly shocked and disappointed in what I received. The portobello was completely charcoal, NOT grilled! I notified the waitress, and asked to send it back because it was inedible and it made me lose my appetite. I was still charged a full bill! Not even a discount. I will never be coming back
