Bar Great Harry Brooklyn Reviews
Cozy bar with a rotating list of beers and pinball machines. Very dog friendly!
Great beer selection, lovely bartenders. Can’t ask for more.
Very relaxed beer bar with an always changing and always delicious beer list.
Favorite bar in the area, excellent beer list at a reasonable price.
Good for late night drinks. Not too crowded, and nice chairs and tables. Good vibes.
Great local craft beer great service. They also have BYO food since they don't have a kitchen and they are close to a lot of great places to eat.
A truly great sport—good crowd, amazing beer, and super friendly bartenders (specifically Arion, he’s awesome). HIGHLY recommend.
Great beer selection and relaxed vibe. This place knows it's great, but doesn't make a fuss about it.
Great selection of locally crafted beer. Plus the pinball machines in the back are a fun escape from the loud front area.
Always a great and varied beer selection. Pin ball machines in the back. Party room in the back available to be reserved for free.
Comfortable and casual bar with a fantastic beer list. Small but plenty of tables on a weeknight to hang out with a small group.
Great selection of craft beer. Happened to have just celebrated its 10th anniversary on August 19th.
One of the best beer bars in the city. Craft beers rotate almost on a daily basis.
Love it here Sarah is super nice I love the people and the vibe
Great place and an excellent beer selection. Some of the coolest bartenders in NYC.
Great place, reasonable prices. Awesome craft beer selection from around the northeast.
Great beer selection! Some obscure choices on tap. Dark and quaint little spot.
Great beer selection, friendly bartender, saw fernet branca on tap which seems quite idd, never seen that in Italy
Fantastic place. The staff is wonderful, and the beer selection is even better.
Great divey beer bar. Tons of taps and friendly staff
Great craft beer selection and the bartenders really know their stuff!
Brilliant selection of maybe a dozen craft beers on tap. Noisy but only adds to the fun
Best beer bar near you right now. Go, order, ask questions later.
Zach is the greatest. Awesome dude who knows his beers and is an amazing bartender.
Cozy bar in the Cobble Hill area with an amazing beer selection. In the summer they open the walls up and in the winter it gets very warm with many people in a small space. Great neighborhood spot. No food, unfortunately.
Hands down best bar on the Smith Street strip. Stellar selections, great music choices by staff, chilled atmosphere and if you're lucky you'll get a 5pm goat show. If you know, you know.
Jill is incredible! Great vibe, great beer, great atmosphere!! Must stop by and say hello! You will feel welcomed and will definitely return!! Five star all the way!!
Neighborhood gem serving a wide, rotating selection of craft beer; not too full of itself to offer beer + shot specials. Pinball in the back. Don't sleep on the Sunday Bloody Marys when they're on offer.
Indeed this is a dog friendly bar. My good boi and I were here were a few hours. He got so much love. Def recommend coming here if you have a pooch!
Easily the greatest beer bar in the area. Meticulously curated selection of beer never disappoints. Bartenders are knowledgeable, attentive, and polite. The music is always on point.
There’s pinball in the back and how great is that?! The staff is wonderful and the beer selection is top notch. If you go when the weather is nice, they open the walls which is awesome.
This is, without question, one of my favorite bars in Brooklyn. Amazing tap selection hosting one of the most well rounded and curated list of taps I've ever seen. Go get a beer!!
Big selection of many different beers on tap, with the option to order servings in several different sizes. If you're a beer nerd, a great place to spend some time having a couple beer or more than a couple.
Hells yeah! Let's look at the plusses: *Cute girls *Cheap drink specials *Lively atmosphere *More cute girls Only one minus comes to mind: *Gross-out restrooms. Like ew. Clean that s*** up, seriously. I hate when people make their micturitions all over the toilet seat. Don't do that. But that's not the bar's fault, although maybe they could clean it more often.
The people working at Bar Great Harry are the best! Always amazing service and conversation, great music and great drinks. Also, they have Fernet on tap ❤️🔥
Nice local bar with great beer selection. 21 taps and lots of stuff on. Fantastic variety and attentive bartenders.
Awesome low key spot with fantastic local beer and bottled options. Good choices for the wine drinker too, but the SO can speak to that better than I.
Cool local bar with a good beer selection and lots of friendly people. Pretty sure I took a regular's seat and he didn't even give me a hard time about it, so A+.
We have been to this place several times during the mid-afternoon hours. The bartender has always been friendly and the selection of draft beers is excellent.
One of my favorite beer bars in the city. The draft lineup is always on point and it’s ideally placed on smith st.
One of my favorite bars in NYC. Great beers, often with some sours. Good place to order in food. Can get crowded.
My favorite bar. Great service, great selection, great music, great pinball, clean bathrooms. You can't ask for more.
Really good beer selection, they always have a good few I haven't had before (I've had about 5,500 different beers)
I went there on a very crowded Saturday afternoon. There is a full service bar with finger foods. We had pumpkin beer. It was very interesting. Fun place to go. They offer a happy hour. Reasonably priced.
This is a classic, throwback neighborhood bar. Great beers and drinks with a super friendly vibe. Bartender Jill is a true spark plug, talented, outgoing and a true pro. This is truly the kind of place where “everybody knows your name”.
Arion is one of my absolute favorite bartenders in the neighborhood & always plays the best music! Chill, non-pretentious atmosphere with an epic (rotating) selection of craft beer on tap. 🍻
Best bar in the area. Amazing, ever-changing tap list, great bartenders, great music, great vibes. It's just a great bar bar. Perfectly unpretentious, yet so refined in its own unique way. There's never a bad time or situation to come here.
"Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta, actually make that two," is something you might hear at this bar. Yes, it is a beer on draft and it's pretty damn good might I add. This is a cozy little spot that let's you hang out and enjoy a few beers, or go deep into the game. Came here for my coworkers going away party and we went nuts! The beer selection was awesome, the backroom is great for groups, let alone if you're a fan of pinball. Yes, that's right count it three pinball machines back there. Just make sure you don't TILT!!!
Bar Great Harry always has great beers on tap and great happy hour specials. Dogs are allowed inside which is great for me because I love dogs. I would bring my German Shepherd here weekly...if I had one.
Not too cool, not too trashy, it’s just right…the Goldilocks of Brooklyn. They have decent prices, easy going bartenders, and the crowd is usually in good spirits. Sit inside or out. Play pinball.
I have a walker named Napoleon of Brooklyn Family Dog Walker that recommends I come here. He said this bar was dog friendly and the staff is amazing. He was on the money. The bartender was great and the atmosphere was made even better with the choice of music. Me, my wife and my pup couldn't have asked for a better drink and chat.
Best beer selection of any place in downtown Brooklyn. Always several interesting beers on tap you'd never find anywhere else. Bartenders are always laid-back, but friendly and attentive.
This is the perfect place to sip a great beer & listen to seriously good music. Bar tenders are knowledgeable and give great recommendations. Not fancy or pretentious but dog friendly and the perfect spot for a weekend afternoon beer.
Love this place! Not as stellar a selection as Owl Farm (which I believe is the same ownership) but definitely more of a vibe spot since it is located in a more residential area. Great mix of beer nerds asking for the bottle list or trying to find something hazy, and an older local crowd drinking the cheaper macros. Pinball in the back if that is your thing.
Jill was the sweetest and most helpful bartender I've ever had. Between her and Bre, I've never experienced such a great time these women are amazing. The bar itself was a great vibe and so busy. Gotta be my favorite bar in Brooklyn. Jill was the main reason for the bar getting the crowd it did. Fun people and good drinks. If you're in Brooklyn and want a great time, this is the place to find it. Thank you Bre and Jill. Love you both!!!
one of my favorite bars! the bartenders are wonderful folks and their drink menu is carefully curated. also, the music is beyond. i love it here!
Love this laid back, pub like bar. Dog friendly, good choice of drinks, and bar snacks.
Great selection of beers and friendly bartenders. Nice secluded pinball spot in the back with 3 machines, though they can occasionally be in need of repairs. They don't have food but you can get some from any of the many spots in the area.
Hands down one of my TOP beer bars. I just didn’t realize I had still not written a review for this place! Pros: - super friendly staff - super knowledgeable staff - you can get your own food here, or get a delivery from the 20K restaurants in the vicinity - pinball - wait, did I say, only the BEST beer?! - sometimes, they change beer menus DURING the night - best community and staff - fernet on tap - great music - life recommendations from sagacious bartenders Cons: - I’ve been coming here for many years, and have not found true love - makes me grab a beer on a Sunday
Probably my favorite bar in all of Brooklyn. Their tap list NEVER disappoints. They have a few stalwarts that rarely ever leave the line-up, but for the most part the menu changes every time you visit, and there's no filler; their offerings are legit. If you play your cards right you can definitely catch some whales here. It's a pretty no frills place, but that's just the way I like it.
Decent drinks at decent prices, overall one of the sports I prefer on Smith St.
Nice bar, good vibes, good beer.
Good, local dive bar boasting an extensive craft beer selection
Dangerously cheap happy hour, great rotating taps and a nice list of local beers. Play pinball, yahtzee or just chill with your dog.
The dark interior makes it a great spot for more intimate or solo beer-sipping. Be careful, though: the soundtrack can be brutal occasionally.
Good staff, good beer, and my buddy was pleased to play with his favorite pinball machine, Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Love the beer selection at BGH and the vibe of the place but it hasn’t been dog friendly for years, many years.
Pretty good beer, helpful service, decent prices. Simple, and smallish.
Love this bar -- dog friendly, lovely staff and wide open windows to the street on a nice day. A little bit dark and loud when it gets busy, but overall a good place to come with friends. (Also kid friendly during daylight hours, as it seems.)
Laid back vibe here. Bunch of drafts in tap as well as bottles and cans. They've got seating at the bar and tables on the floor. There is a back room with pinball machines and more seating. Cool spot.
Nice place to just chill and get a drink, bartender was really cool and kind, it’s a good neighborhood spot.
Great spot. Love the selection. Love the space. And hands down the least pretentious space left on Smith. One complaint- 3/4oz shots of Fernet, $8? Really?
Sassy bartender, sriracha bloody maries, and the place is pet-friendly! Petting dogs makes me feel rather happy. :) Arcade video games in the back.
I went there on a very crowded Saturday afternoon. There is a full service bar with finger foods. We had pumpkin beer. It was very interesting. Fun place to go. They offer a happy hour. Reasonably priced.
The beer menu was a little convoluted, and at times hard to tell the bartender, but the range is very impressive. The bar itself is a dimly lit, intimate setting that feels like it has been around forever. Best bar in Carol Gardens in my opinon.
Another great bar in the same family as Owl Farm and Mission Dolores that allows dogs inside. Fantastic beer selection though a bit less ambiance than the other two. Great couches for fido to curl up on while you play pinball in the back. Very well behaved dogs and a great dive atmosphere make this a place you keep going back to.
Nice cozy corner spot - perfect for colder temps and growing roots. The lights are dim, making this a wonderful late night spot. Last time I was there, enjoyed a tasty cider. Prices are fairly normal for a Brooklyn bar.
Great bar. Bartender was welcoming and he actually knew all the beers that was listed. Ales IPAs. After coming out of the lockdown its good to find through friends a warm charming bar. Then to my surprise 4 pinball machines in the back room I was a kid and a adult at the same time. It was fun. I have a 4 stars cause of their tequila not a wide selection.
Good place for drinks and few pinball machines . Is small and can get real crowd
They do not serve frozen drinks here.
The beer list is solid, but the crowd skews bro-y (and loud) for the neighborhood. Not much in the way of personality and no music playing in the back room. It's fine, but nothing special. They do have a good Nitro Stout on tap.
This place is a true, local bar. The locals are there starting early on a Saturday, and have stacked out the bar and all the tables in the bar area. The choice of beers was really great and ask if there is something you don't see on the chalkboard (I was able to get a cider that wasn't on the board). Don't forget to play some pinball in the backroom!
it was fine. But they suckered us in saying they would put the fight on TV. Then when time came, the bartenders were all thumbs with the remote. Sadly, after buying ~15 drinks, they never put the fight on and my group had to leave for another bar. Bad experience.
It was cozy dive bar vibe, and the bartenders seem really nice. Everything seemed clean and like a nice spot to chill for a drink
Small selection of liquor. Odd combination of super loud music and multiple infants at the bar at 5pm. Bartender quite assertive with their service.
Beer list has gone way down hill since Jon left, but still a great place to hang in the cobble hill
Inoffensive dive bar, that speaks of the new Brooklyn. Beer selection is nice, bartenders not so much. They are not rude, just intense in a manner you expect in a NYC bar that is packed sees a high flow of patrons and knuckleheads alike. That's not really this place, with the occasional"knucklehead" most likely trying to play the part of a patron from a Brooklyn long since gentrified. Unfortunately they do show little regard for neighbors, as patrons loudly loiter at all hours of night. An argument could be made that the bar was here and those that choose to live by it should adapt. I would say BGH should take that same advice and reign in it's noisy patrons, as the neighborhood has changed.
Good staff however, they heavily water down the drinks.
Had the worst experience ever. Rude bartender. Misheard our drink order and then cursed at us. Told us we had to leave. Never gave an explanation.
Really disappointed with the service. Stay away, these guys are as racist as they get, refused to let us drink, the bar tender was complaining the entire time we were there. He spit in my beer and then told us to leave, to avoid troubles with the police we left horrified by such acts and will absolutely be sueing. The fact he spit is crazy! Arion will be sued for this non sense
Tl;dr: Sucks to be blamed for a bartender’s credit card mistake, so I won’t be back. Came in and ordered a round. Left my tab open and my card with the bartender, who was dealing with some issue on the phone. Went to close out after the round … and they didn’t have my card, or a tab for me. I didn’t have the card. I asked them to look for it, and they did, halfheartedly, clearly insulted by my implication that they’d lost my card. They’d never lost a card in 9 years of bartending! Yeah, well, in 20 years of drinking out, no one’s ever lost my card, either. Clearly they were not eager to find the card, or apologize, so I left my contact info and went home. Hours later, another bartender texted me: the original bartender had accidentally given my card to someone else, who’d returned it. So the next night I truck across Brooklyn in the rain to recover my main form of payment. As I walk in, the original bartender is talking shit about me to another employee behind the bar: So incredulous I’d have the temerity to suggest they lost my card when … that’s exactly what happened. I ask original bartender for the card, and they slap it down on the bar. No hey, no sorry, no nothing. Mistakes happen, I get it. I did get my card back. But being treated like a jerk, twice, for asking if they maybe coulda lost my card while distracted — which is what happened — means I won’t be coming back here. Which sucks. It’s a good bar.
Aloof disinterested mean bartenders. One time I went in with my girl who was a new mom and she brought her baby, they played death metal in a sad passive aggressive way to get her out. This bar smells nasty and it’s full of finance and tech bros pretending to be not. It’s bad. It’s a bad bar. It’s just still open because it’s the only thing open. I cannot emphasize enough how awful the service is, how bad this bar smells, and how awful the crowd is. Garbage garbage garbage. I hope the owners lose hundreds of thousands of dollars and file bankruptcy. Awful. Don’t go here. Go anywhere else. So many other options.
