El Malecon Brooklyn Reviews
I used the catering service for Christmas and it was a hit with my family. They know I’m not cooking this year so I was in charge or ordering. El Malecon cooked the food so well my family is already scheduling me to order from them again next year lol I ordered a medium tray of pernil, my mom’s favorite (she is Puerto Rican). The tray was full of meat, not too much fat at all and had skin on the crispy. My family loved it. We also ordered two small trays of rice(white and yellow with gandules) and avocado salad, tostones and bistec! The trays came packed with food and hot. I just moved to Bayridge and love all types of food but when your craving authentic Latin Caribbean food like what they serve here, this is the spot to go!
I love their food.Very authentic. Nice and welcoming.Eating in or taking out this places is delish.
Food delicious always! Servers are great abd friendly.
This spot satisfies completely. I noticed how well-maintained and welcoming it was. This place has mastered the art of making people comfortable. These dishes maintain presence in memory. I'm eager for my next dining experience.
It’s a Latin food , basically Domican !! Restaurant, food is good , served with a big portion, I always afraid about the portions but after you staring eating the plate is getting Less and less delicious food , I really recommend this place if you’re looking to spend some family time while enjoying an good meal .
Service is better this time than last, years ago. Portion of food is above average than most restaurants. Food taste delicious and prices are good comparing how much you get. Location is in the heart of bay ridge. Family friendly as well. Overall will definitely go again and highly recommend this establishment to the general public.
It's so nice to have a delicious Spanish restaurant so close to home! I tried it randomly one day, delivery. *I fell in love* with their garlic sauce & green sauce.. i dipped my chicken in them both & that was it for me. Rice, beans, rotisserie chicken (well done is best), avocado salad, Maduros (well, well done! Literally, DARK & sweet).. my fave way to have them.. of course asking if the maduros are at their peak so you have an idea of what to expect.. & that's that. I order their lunch special now. GREAT value! My plate is jam packed, comes with a water most times unless there is a rush and it's forgotten... i highly recommend. based off other reviews... i get it... Unfortunately.... part of being in the city are some pesky roaches making their appearance once in a while. i havent seen any.. I'd be grossed out, sure... but not mad at the ppl or restaurants... those things are a forever thing. Lol (no, i dont have any in my home, however, they lived rent free in my childhood home & we mopped & swept very often & made sure everything was tidy & clean before bed. & those suckers were still giving birth left & right. & creeping in from the hallway or from next door neighbors.) anyway, I've seen roach traps etc. Even in upscale places. Doesn't mean place is dirty.. I cnt blame them for wanting some Malecon ! It's delicious! :D
Delicious mofongo being made at this location. I ordered a cheese mofongo for myself and a mofongo de chicharrón for my partner. Both of us were very satisfied with the flavor, consistency and size of the mofongo. Next time I get a craving for mofongo I would definitely return to El Malecón.
I have been living here for 3 years and knew about this spot but never ordered takeout until last week. I got some pernil, roasted pork w rice, and peas. It was really good! Will have to go back and get some other food at another time. $8 for a large bean that looked like 2 cans of beans were dumped in it! The seasoning was good, too! No pics cause I was hungry. I will add them next time!
Googling for a tasty Puerto Rican food and I find this place, read the reviews and I said let me go for the first time. Let’s start by saying, as I enter the restaurant it seems clean, there were two young adults behind the counter. First: No welcoming mentioned to their establishment. Second: The food is disappointing ( NOT AUTHENTIC PUERTO RICAN FOOD) Being P.R. Myself. Just doused with other ingredients. It’s salty flavoring’s’ If you like salt 👍🏼this is the place. Price is affordable’ Mind you this restaurant was empty at lunch time. Tells you a lot. Really disappointing. I would not recommend to anyone.
The restaurant itself was dirty, the staff was rude, especially this one person named alberto. The food is not bad but not the greatest either. Personally wouldn’t eat here
I rarely leave negative reviews, but the service here was unacceptable. The staff’s attitude was rude and dismissive, and it felt like asking simple questions was a problem for them. This place needs serious improvement., I asked for a lunch special that comes with beans , I ask then for no beans instead I would like some gravy , they rang me up for extra rather then to substitute ! They also over charged so please check your app if your apple paying !
Why are the staff so always rude? Do they not want to work there or whh are they angry to see a customer? Food is very average but there isnt a choice of a Spanish restaurant so I pay a visit. Lose my appetite over sanitary conditions inside the establishment. Prices fluctuate depending on the staff moods. Will never ever return
TERRIBLE! Never again. So bad it made my wife cry. How do you ruin platanos?? Overly salty beef burnt empanda and gave us grilled chicken instead of rotisserie. WHo gives white rice and not yellow?? This is not a chinese restaurant. Everything was bad from top from bottom. And to make it worse they don't even have arroz con Leche, should have walked out immediately when I saw that. Do not go! Insanely expensive too. Wish I could leave a zero!
I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN. This was my go to restaurant for Spanish food in bayridge, I order from them A LOT. I tried To place an order for delivery. I ordered a Pork Chop Family combo and then I asked for a lunch with pepper steak and rice the lady proceeded to tell me that they don’t do lunches at this time (6:30pm) I said that’s fine you can charge me whatever price i just Don’t want a whole order, I want it together in a plate because there’s only one person eating from this because they don’t eat pork. she proceeded to tell me no, mind you, I order from this place all the time and always get a lunch at this time! I then told her i always order at this time and get a one plate and it was never an issue. She then tells me they don’t do lunch for delivery. So which one is it??? The time or delivery?? Sounds very confusing. She then catches a nasty attitude with me and I proceed to tell her never mind I don’t want the order and she just HUNG UP on me. What kind of customer service is this? Not only do you catch an attitude with your customer but you hang up on them too! She needs to learn better customer service. This restaurant has officially lost me and my family as a customer due to her customer service!
