Jai Dee Brooklyn Reviews
Best har gow (shrimp dumplings) I've ever had! They're huge, made with fresh, clean, and quality ingredients, and come in a dumpling skirt! Really something else. I'd come here just for that. My husband loves their dry aged beef dumplings. Pretty unique. Even though they're small, they are dense and packed! They're surprisingly quite heavy to pick up with your chopsticks. The Sichuan cucumber salad was packed with flavor! I don't like bean sprouts but they changed my mind! Tried their juicy pork dumplings and they were not kidding. One bite and juice was getting everywhere, and I'm not a messy eater. Also got their strawberry bubble tea...yummm. Everything is so delicious, made fresh to order, and served piping hot!! Love that they play 90s Hong Kong music too and serve their dimsum in 90s dimsum paper plates. Super nostalgic for me. They also play videos on random traditional Chinese cuisine, which is interesting to watch.
We wanted to grab a quick bite before my wife had to go to a show in the city for work and I needed to make my way back home. It was the right amount of food and the right amount of time! It was also all very delicious! HEAT HOT but delicious as they are made fresh.
Can’t wait to come back to this area! This will be my go to spot for a quick bite. The food was very delicious and fresh The portion size were really good. Ribs were fire and you get a nice amount. Pork dumplings were ok and the cucumbers salad was really good. I love a short menu with not too many items. Makes making a decisions that much easier. Now I feel like I can go back and actually try everything on the menu!
Really excellent dumplings and buns. Food is high quality and service is quick. Perfect to take as a to-go snack to prospect park. Will definitely be back to try their dry aged beef dumplings.
Great little place with flavorful food made from fresh ingredients. Had the pork belly Bao, beef (28 day aged) pot stickers and shrimp dumplings. All were delicious and was surprised how much shrimp was stuffed into the little dumplings! Great place for an aftermovie (Nitehawk is now open) snack/meal. Will try large plates next time I'm here! They also have great japanese sodas and bubble tea which I will get next time!
Very good home made dumplings. Only thing was it was expensive for the amount of dumplings you get. The price won’t stop me from coming back though!
I got the juicy pork dumplings and the pork bao bun. The dumplings were fantastic and so juicy. And the right amount of crisp on the bottom. The order came with 6 and cost $7. Fair price to me. The Bao pork bun was good, but hard/messy to eat and even tho the sauce that came on it was yummy, they put way to much on and over powered the other flavors including the pork itself. But all in all was soo good. My Boyfriend got the pork sweet chili ribs and he was obsessed!!
We went for lunch yesterday and really enjoyed it. The taste, texture, presentation were all on point. The price point is a little higher then let’s say China town but it’s expected for the area and the quality was really good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff was masked and the restroom was super clean. They also have bubble teas and other specialty drinks. Definitely will try again.
I love this spot. If I could do half stars, it would be 4.7. Had to knock off a few points charging $3 for a bottle of water. Tried the pork bao bun which was also good. Not the best, not the worst. Pro tip- mix soy sauce & hot sauce = magic
With rave reviews in many magazines the actual quality here is just average. That being said with Zero competition in the area and decent eats, 5-stars for existing, the best near-dim-sum experience this part of Brooklyn.
Best dumplings I’ve ever had in NYC and there’s a lot of competition out there. Nothing comes close. Buddha’s vegetables are also delicious — a clean and flavorful meal. 11/10
What a meal! We walked in with a large group of ten - five were kiddos with a slew of allergies and tastes. The dumpling shop served us all with delicious flavor and patience. Before I knew it, the kids were devouring their delicious dumplings n rolls and asking for more. My fave - the sweet chili ribs are truly finger-licking deliciousness on the bone. So good. Such yum! Don't leave without ordering the hotcakes for dessert. They put a smile on everyone's face☆Thanks Chef!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend and I recently wandered into Jai Dee on a miserable rainy night in which we were mostly looking for a warm and dry refuge from the elements. What we found inside Jai Dee was a physical and spiritual refuge that also provided some of the best Thai food that I have ever eaten. I had a taste for Tom Yum soup and discovered a warm and welcoming bowl that had some of the most complex layering of tastes that I have ever experienced. I could not finish it all that night and brought it home to finish. It was as good or even better the next day. My friend does not like very spicy foods and ordered the Clear Broth Tofu Soup. It was warm, comforting and delicious and easily surpassed my friend's expectations with a surprising complex layer of tastes. We followed the soups with an Eggplant Basil dish that also included onions, red bell peppers, chili and a light brown sauce. We asked for the spice level to be toned down to accommodate my friend and I was initially concerned that it would be bland and boring as a result. While I hope to return to eat this dish in its spicy configuration, the toned-down version was subtle and varied in its flavors and again fully exceeded expectations. We combined that with a Thai fried rice that was full of nuggets of broccoli, onions, scallions, and carrots. Beautifully presented and a delicious accompaniment. The restaurant is simple but welcoming and the service was attentive and efficient. I only hope to return soon to explore all of the menu opportunities that I could not explore on this occasion because the dishes on the tables near ours were far too inviting.
Stopped by for lunch on a Friday and loved this spot! The Pad Thai is super flavorful and cooked to perfection. The noodles were coated with sauce and they were generous with the portions. Delicious Thai iced tea as well and service was wonderful! Will definitely be back :)
we were searching for a cozy + delicious spot for dinner, and we found just that at Jai Dee! a Thai restaurant with incredible food, the energy of the space is thoughtful and comforting (they also had fun Halloween decorations up! such a great vibe), and the people there are so kind and thoughtful. impeccable service. will be back again for sure. thank you! 🥰
Jai Dee is a hidden gem in the heart of the city, where authentic Thai flavors burst to life. The green curry steals the show—velvety coconut broth, tender chicken, vibrant eggplant, and fiery chilies that make it the absolute best I've ever tasted anywhere. Paired with fluffy jasmine rice and fresh spring rolls, every bite transports you to Bangkok. Warm service, cozy vibe—5 stars, hands down.
BEST THAI FOOD IN NYC. Seriously. Please come here. Service was great! The decoration is really sweet. And it’s the first adult restaurant that has actual plates and cups for kids. We had calamari, chive pancakes, spring rolls, fried veggie dumplings, and some of the entrees and everything was utterly delicious. The pineapple curry was a first, and it was mind-blowing. The Thai ice tea was incredible. And so many options! Thank you for an amazing experience.
You would be hard pressed to find a cuter restaurant in all of NYC, unless you happened to be at a tea party in the bedroom of a 4 year old girl. The decor is adorable, and unlike the refreshments at an imaginary tea party, the food packs some serious flavor. The Pumpkin Curry was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. The flavors were rich, the texture was excellent and the service was great as well. They even refilled my water after I paid the bill, which just never happens anymore.
After reading the reviews, I decided to take a shot at this spot, to which I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the shrimp clay pot, which had a flavorful plenty of glass noodles and large shrimp. I was grateful to receive an on-the-house salad, as well as a Thai iced tea. The spicy sauces were also great and I would highly recommend them to any spice lover, great to top on the steamed udon noodles. A wonderful atmosphere with lots of stuffed animals and toys, great care was taken into making sure Jai Dee has a friendly and welcoming vibe. I enjoyed flipping through a Marvel character encyclopedia while waiting for my food, which came at a speedy time. The service is wonderful, my server was so sweet and helpful. Overall I highly recommend this spot for breakfast lunch or dinner.
Such a lovely place to have a date with friend. The vibe is relaxing and intimate. Food is very tasty, flavorful but not too salty, and well displaced in adorable plates. Friendly and professional service. Server checked on us a few times to make sure everything is good without pressuring us to leave.
The vibes and food are all incredible!!! I knew the food was good because it's a regular delivery spot for me, but this was only my second time eating there and I loved it! Perfect music volume, DECKED OUT festively for Halloween (what's a Thai place without an intense focus on decadent decor?), and very nice attentive service. Def a nice comfy spot for a quick lunch or even a date night!
Charming and tasty dumpling shop. Counter seating for solo-diner like me. Amazing smells from open kitchen fill the rooom. Staff was busy with takeout on a cold night, so my service was a little slow. That said, pork dumplings were doughy flavour bombs. Veg dish (always a test) brought taste and texture. Next time I'll try dry-aged beef dumplings.
Great spot. Very nice on the inside and very tasty food. I only had the dumplings and boa. Will def be back to try everything else. It is a little pricey tho. I'd love it if they had more options
I did the lunch special! Chose the drunken noodles with chicken, came out fast and really loved the sauce! I made sure to tell them less spice, so mild. The portion size was solid. For the special, I chose the spring roll, not my fav tbh, next time I’ll try something else but loved the crunch! The sauce that comes with it was too sweet, but I only dipped less to balance. The Thai iced tea was really nice- just more on the sweeter side.
Ordered a bunch of times from this place before but dined in for the first time. They renewed the interiors, the place looks nice and the food was delicious. We ordered the fried calamari (crispy and perfectly battered), the shrimp pad thai and massaman curry. All were great, happy they’re open again!
Good quality shrimp dumplings, the price point is probably a little higher than what you get compared to other places, and I felt like the crust on the dumplings was not necessary and took away from the quality of the wrapper themselves. Overall, a nice part of the neighbourhood
I unfortunately have to give a 3 star for this place and I rarely post reviews that are not positive. Pretty overpriced ($8 for a tiny pork guabao, $12 for 4 hargow (even tim ho wan is only charging 7.75 :o). And they all lack flavors, especially the pork dumplings :( I really wanted to support a neighborhood store but this is a disappointment.
Overpriced even for this area. Tiny portions. Slow service when not busy. Not worth it at all. $8 for two small flat veggies spring rolls is sad. (Pictured)
Only had takeout but very mediocre. Thought it would be better based on the reviews but I wouldn’t consider returning. The noodles were completely stuck together as one noodle blob. I even arrived to pickup earlier than 15 mins and it seems like to sat for awhile. Not worth the money. I had the Shanghai belly noodles.
Came here based off reviews and was so disappointed...burnt dumplings on all three orders I placed to go. These burnt were not just by looks it also tasted burnt and it wasn't even busy. Taste was bland my son loves dumplings and didn't even finish his first bite. Just sorry I didn't see the dumplings until I got home.
Unwelcoming experience going in, waited for over 30 minutes in person for some dumplings and a soup, and my dumplings were burnt and inedible. Ended up throwing it away, a waste of money and the soup was super oily with weird chunks in my soup. Not a pleasant experience, definitely tasted like food you would eat and like super drunk lol.
