La Nonna Brooklyn Reviews
Always great atmosphere, service and food. Added new room for private party. Had my daughter's bridal shower.
Absolutely the best Italian restaurant in the area! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, attentive service and a staff that truly goes above and beyond. The food is exceptional. every dish is full of authentic flavor and prepared to perfection. The ambience is perfect. a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Wow, wow, wow! This place really went above and beyond what I expected. The interior is so beautifully decorated, and has such a warmth about it. However, the real treat was the cuisine. Some of the best Italian cuisine I’ve had. We started with the fried calamari, which is served with the most exquisite homemade tomato sauce. So exquisite, we had to buy a bottle of it to take home! I had pesto gnocchi for dinner, which was incredibly creamy and sumptuous, cooked to perfection. For dessert, I had a mango panna cotta, which was to die for! The restaurant also has a very beautiful bar that I would love to try next time. If you want a night out at a beautiful, elegant restaurant with excellently prepared Italian dishes, do not hesitate to go here.
Would highly recommend. We’ve been dining at La Nonna since they were on Bedford Ave. The staff is wonderful, the food is delicious ( still getting compliments from our party ) for the choice. But above all, Anna and her husband made sure every detail was covered, communicated several times during the reservation process to ensure our party had everything we needed. This place will make you feel like you spent more than you did. A true gem.
Very nice italian restaurant in vibrant part of Williamsburg. This was my first experience and I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of their food, given that I just cane back from Italy. I really liked their chicken, it was breast, but very soft and juicy. Also I really liked my lobster pasta, which was one of the best I've tried. My friend got short ribs risotto, which was also very creative with parmesan crust and tasty. The atmosphere was also very classy and elegant. I would definitely come back to get more of their dishes.
We had a great time at La Nonna! Our server Yassine was so attentive and personable. He was one of the best parts of the experience. They first bring out a bread and sweet Mariana sauce. Personally don’t love a sweet sauce, but if that is your thing you will love it. Bread was a 10/10 though. Their drinks are also well made and strong. We order their filet migon empanadas which is such a unique appetizer but it was AMAZING! We then got their tortellini with chicken, pancetta, peas and mushrooms and their Bucatini carbonara. It was all genuinely so good. Their tortellini was some of the best I’ve had. Over all 9/10 experience. DEFINITELY coming back to try more of Yassines amazing recommendations.
I LOVED the food here. The bread they placed on the table was warm and came with a tomato sauce that was delicious. I ordered the eggplant parm with rigatoni in vodka sauce and it was so good. My mom enjoyed her food as well. The service was also great. This place is great for a casual lunch, date, or a celebration. I will be coming back!
Upscale Italian restaurant in Williamsburg. The restaurant has a beautiful dining area with high ceilings and a modern rustic aesthetic. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the Frittura di Calamari which was fresh and cooked perfectly, as well as the Gnocchi Alla Norma that had freshly made gnocchi and a delicious sauce.
Had lunch here, and happened to mention to the waitress that it was my birthday weekend. They brought me the sweetest birthday dessert! They also had a great happy hour special on wines. The pasta dish was delicious (I got the lobster ravioli). The staff made this such a great experience, I will definitely be back!
From the moment you step inside, La Nonna envelops you in a warmly romantic ambiance, with flickering candles and elegant drapes setting the perfect tone. Every dish tastes like a lovingly prepared family recipe, but the Sacchetti al Peperoncino is a standout with its delightful, spicy kick. The service is attentive and genuinely welcoming, making you feel like a treasured guest in their home. It’s the kind of place that turns a simple dinner into a cherished memory. For a truly authentic and heartwarming Italian meal in Brooklyn, La Nonna is an absolute gem.
La Nona in Williamsburg is a true gem! This classic Tuscan-style Italian restaurant delivers not only an incredible meal but also an ambiance that elevates the entire experience. I came here on a Tuesday night with a friend, and it turned into an unforgettable evening. We started with the arugula and grilled artichoke salad—fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced with a lemony parmigiana dressing. The Burrata salad was another standout: creamy Burrata atop a vibrant bed of basil, ripe tomatoes, and avocado. Pure heaven. For mains, my friend raved about the pistachio-crusted lamb chops—tender, flavorful, and beautifully cooked. I had the Bronzino, seared to perfection with crispy skin, served over a light yet rich pomidora sauce with perfectly blanched string beans on the side. Every bite was a joy. The decor ties it all together with warm, rustic touches that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a cozy Tuscan evening. La Nona is the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommend!
Looking for a last minute reservation for a party of 7 people is not easy in Brooklyn but La Nonna did their best to accommodate us .. and we're so glad they did. The interior part of the restaurant is really very beautiful with nice tablecloths and wood floors and a large bar. The servers were all so friendly and most were from Italy and had great knowledge of the foods and wines. Our server Fabiano was just incredible and as kind as could be. We were seated in the outer sunroom which was a little chilly and he put the space heater on right away. The pastas, the fish and the eggplant were all delicious. The garlic bread that they make and put on the table when you arrive is so pillowy and tasty (and they give you plenty of olive oil for dipping). We all agreed we would go back and had a lovely meal and experience at this restaurant
This restaurant was recommended by someone as a great place to celebrate an anniversary in NYC and they were right! It was elegant, peaceful, and not overly expensive. Our servers were very attentive and the food was delicious. We felt very appreciated there and they even brought out a specially decorated dessert.
Loved the ambiance! A pretty place. The drinks were really good and the food was solid. It’s a great spot for a birthday celebration or a night out with family and friends. A bit loud, so not ideal for a date night, but the vibe is fun and lively.
wow. MAN is this place nice. we had an amazing sunday at church praising and worshiping God. prophet nate delivered a mighty message straight from heaven and driving 50 minutes to this place was the cherry on top of the cherry! the food was delicious, the portions were just a little small for me. i got the tortellini pollo pasta. we was here for 4 hours, with 7 pastors, and had amazing conversations. this place is great and the hospitality they give is amazing. come here and prepare to enjoy!
Spent Valentine’s Day here yesterday around 10pm the food was absolutely amazing but the service was terrible. Waiter came to the table about 20 mins after we were seated and then said “ready?” No hello or even a full sentence, the man looked angry. Food took a while but it was understandable since it was busy because it was valentine’s but the server never checked up on us again, not even when we got our food or when our cocktails and water glasses were empty. Waved him down for like 5 minutes trying to get his attention so we can get the bill and as I did that the table next to me also complained to us saying they haven’t seen him since they ordered as well and thanked us for getting his attention since they were trying to get the bill as well for a while it seemed. Not the best experience for a special night but at least the food and ambiance was good enough. If I could give 0 starts for service I would.
We came to La Nonna for a special occasion dinner with extended family, having booked 2 weeks in advance for our group of 10 on a Sunday. Our table was ready when we arrived and were seated at a nice and spacious table a a bit towards the kitchen so we wouldn't overburden other patrons - that was great. Menus were handed out promptly, although we did have to ask for a wine menu, which was presented on an iPad. The California Chardonnay and organic Montepulciano Abruzzo were excellent and reasonable value. For starters we shared calamari, zucchini blossom fritters, arancini, peach and burrata. The zucchini blossom and arancini stood out but all were tasty and crispy where expected. For main courses, most in our group opted for seafood pasta and risotto varieties, which were all well prepared, with the Marinara shrimp spaghetti and spaghetti alle vongole being apparent standouts. Servings were generous and had an abundance of seafood/protein. Our server was very accommodating in slicing up the birthday cake we brought. Some of us enjoyed coffee, which was all espresso/americano style (with decaf available) and strong and slightly bitter but still very enjoyable. Throughout the evening, our table was waited by a few different servers, which was a little confusing at first but didn't interfere too much with good service. The main ding of the night, unfortunately, came when the bill was due. The autogratuity was higher than typical and apparently manually added at 22.42% of the pre-tax bill, but I didn't mind that too much considering our lengthy dining experience and great quality food. However, what truly bothered me was the 3.5% credit card surcharge, which was levied AFTER tax and autogratuity and was therefore effectively 4.6%, and I couldn't recall an evident disclosure on the menu thereof. I was sad that this left a bad taste in my mouth after an otherwise wonderful evening.
