LARK cafe Brooklyn Reviews
Lark bagel and oat milk latte is my favorite;) Always happy faces in the morning ;) That's what I need great coffe and positive attitude Go Lark ❤️
I previously gave this coffee shop 5 stars but recently there is a new barista that has no manners, forget about great customer service. . I asked for milk in my coffee and he gave me an attitude. Not a thank you or have a nice day, didnt get any of that.He happens to be there late afternoons by himself and plays Hip Hop .Not a very good music choice for a coffee shop with a kids play area. Other days (when he isnt there) this place still has 5 stars.
Excellent service. I got an iced latte and zucchini quiche - so good! Great 90’s music playing and people working on their laptops, kid friendly (and kids behaving). Great spot!
Happy people and a concept for both parents and children. I had good coffee, and my friend had a good soup with melted cheese. If you have kids, or not, if you are local, you should try Lark Coffee.
Very solid stuff! My go to for remote work when I drop my daughter off at school. They're all very sweet, the menu is solid and the vibe is good. :)
Lots of coffee shops in the area ... but this is my favorite / go-to spot. Their bagel sandwiches are DELISH and their seasonal lattes are a hit.
Whenever I come here they always have amazing service, quality, and people! They are also so quick! Our neighborhood favorite
Glad to see a place with a local roaster have such good coffee. Matcha latte was great as well! Will be coming back soon.
Even during busy mornings, with a 5-10 minute wait, it’s worth it—Lark consistently delivers delicious coffee.
Great neighborhood coffee shop that brews Stumptown beans. They have a small variety of gourmet sandwiches, pastas and other small dishes from Broncoccios in Windsor Terrace.
Love getting my morning tea and coffee here. Nice local spot. Also their kale salad is so good.
Nice people. Really nice, small cafe. Ordered a salmon bagel and salad for takeout. Espresso was really good too. Would go again.
Stopped by while visiting the area for a few days. The young man who waited on me was extremely kind and helpful. He helped me pick out a couple baked items which were delicious! We very much recommend LARK!
I love this place , decent coffee , donuts from dough! And super friendly staff. You can always find a spot to sit down and read the NY times. My only regret is that they don't have matcha green tea lattes.
A cute café. They're really cool here, I come to do my school work and I stay 2-3 hours but I always feel welcomed. Some of the tables have outlets, there's always nice music on. A bathroom to use.
Good coffee, great space, and friendly baristas. The price is what you'd expect for a local coffee shop but this place makes up for it because it's never too crowded. The vibe is so calm and the barista is too.
I don't often write reviews but I loved this little spot so much I couldn't help coming on here and letting everyone know what a wonderful time I had here. It was freezing out but ive never been known to pass up ice cream. I had strawberry and the cutest guy, Allen, helped out. He was very lovely and definitely made me want to come back next time im in town.
Love this local coffee shop. I don't live near here but when I happen to be over this way it's a great stop. Good coffee (drip and fancy) and they have a wide selection of pastries but also serve food (which I have not had). It's not insanely expensive either like some coffee places can be (esp w pastries). It fits well with the nabe...good seating layout, warm space, and friendly and mellow staff.
Our favorite local cafe! Nice staff, great smoothies, bagels and of course coffee. Also they serve coffees in ceramic mugs if you are staying in, which is awesome (not enough cafes do this IMO).
Just had the best Lox Bagel Special ever! Smoked Salmon with Dill&Scallion Creamcheese, pickled onions, cucumbers & avocado on a Everything Egg Bagel..I'm very particular about where I get Lox. By far LARK u got it!🙌🏽 I will be back!
Slowly but surely, Lark is become my weekend breakfast and coffee go-to. The coffee is fresh, strong, and hot - exactly how I like it. Staff is efficient, friendly, and helpful. They have a good variety of baked goods from Colson, which is one of my favorite local bakeries.
Favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood! Pastries from Colson patisserie, bagels from terrace (yummy bagel sandwiches) and of course…amazing cold brew and seasonal lattes! They are also usually open on holidays which I so appreciate because we’ve often gone there on thxgiving and Xmas before running around to family :)
Five stars for the great work space + drinks and food options. Lots of seating, plenty of outlets, good internet connection for video calls, and not so busy. Cold brew was decent and paired with a chewy perfect everything bagel.
Awesome local coffee shop with a variety of baked goods. The people are very nice and the atmosphere is friendly. Good to sit and read for a bit, or hang out with one or two people. There are number of outlets for a laptop, although I think there are rules about using laptops on the weekends.
I come here every once in a while to get a matcha latte and maybe a bagel. It's a very nice atmosphere and the staff is really nice.
coffee is delicious as well as the pastries and bagels. the gentleman who helped me was patient and helpful!
Some of the best coffee (especially espresso drinks) in the Windsor Terrace/Kensington area. Great selection of pastries from Colson and creative bagel sandwiches. We love the new ice cream pop-up, too!
Super sized a Stumptown iced latte to accompany a slice of pie (apple from 4&20 Blackbirds selection). I see they also offer blender drinks, sandwiches, pastries, things to nosh. I chose outdoor table under an awning because nice day and covid safer. Plus: The cup had a sippy cup styled lid, so I did not require a straw! PLUS: The espresso shined in the milk of my choosing. I crave this drink! (I think their indoors was pleasant, but not my craving in this covid wave.)
I simply love this place. Pastries and bagels are always fresh, coffee is amazing and the staff is friendly. They also just opened the ice cream shop and they have vegan options, yum!
A friendly community space. The employees are very efficient and courteous. Coffee, a blueberry bagel, and welcoming smiles from Quinn and Alex are a highlight of my day.
The food, staff, and coffee - all excellent! The bagels, especially the Pumpernickel Everything bagel is the best!
My regular cafe was packed so I walked over here on a whim—will definitely be back. Coffee (beans from Stumptown, A+) is very good and staff is nice. Great atmosphere and food looks great as well. A nice place to have a few coffees and get work done.
It's a very clean place with fresh products and a small menu, so it's easier to choose. The coffee was really good, and the music was great (not loud at all and smooth). It became one of my favorite bagel spots in BKN!
Very great atmosphere and friendly staff. I iced latte with almond milk, banana bread and croissant. They’re all great choices. I would recommend visiting this place. Great job guys and keep up the good work!
Love this cafe! The coffee is great and the bagel is a surprising superstar. It’s our go to Sunday spot 🙂↕️
Wonderful little shop. Best espresso drinks in the neighborhood. Friendly staff who will remember your order if you are lucky enough to be a regular.
Best neighborhood café. Drinks are tasty, good food options, fair prices. Warm ambiance inside, simple but pleasant decor. Non-pretentious. I enjoy spending time here, staff are pleasant and always prepare my order with care.
I discovered this place completely by accident — not through Google reviews, but simply while walking by and looking for something to grab for breakfast. And now, my absolute favorite bagel is right here. The combination of flavors is incredible — I honestly haven’t found anything similar anywhere else. Everything tastes unique and perfectly balanced. I also absolutely love their lavender latte, and the pistachio one is just as amazing. This spot has truly become one of my favorites!
The food was great, but the service was a bit slow today. I hope it’s faster next time. Other than that, it’s a lovely place.
They are always super nice when I come in & have a great selection of pastries. I also tried their bagel for the first time and it is top notch! Highly recommend this place for a quick bite or a coffee/tea.
Nice little coffee place with inside and (limited) outside seating. Service is great, all baristas were friendly and fast. Coffee is good, with things to choose from - nice cold brew, good latte selection, flat whites/cortados. Bagels are tasty and they have good cream cheese. It gets pretty busy on weekend mornings when it is peak kid activity time (line of parents gets pretty long) - but service is fast and wait is not that bad. The inside is nice, not too loud even when crowded. The outside is not spectacular, but that's Church Avenue.
Born and raised close to the area. Never been here. Feeling very fulfilled after having a phenomenal chai muffin and a cold brew with oat. Servíce was efficient, and to the point, but the FOH are attentive and thoughtful. Love their swag.
Right by my apartment, cute little spot. The online ordering is a breeze and order is always ready when I'm rushing to work. Great place to work from home later in the day as well (when it's less busy 3:30~). I have also seen other customers bring in their own mugs to try to reduce waste (so, I think they do that.. Wish they would promote that more!) One improvement I wish they would do is host more community events, but otherwise it's a fantastic spot.
Absolutely love this place! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the cozy aroma of freshly baked pastries and rich coffee. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for catching up with a friend or getting a bit of work done. Their croissants are buttery and flaky—honestly some of the best I’ve had—and the coffee is always brewed to perfection. The staff is friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. Definitely my new go-to spot for a caffeine and sugar fix! ☕️❤️
I had two cortados & a chai tea latte. Lovely place. Well crafted coffee. Don't make the mistake I made in only glancing at the pastry display -- they had 4 pies from which to choose: pecan, apple, cherry, and chocolate. God loves us and wants us to be happy and have a slice of pie with our coffee on occasion. Lark is there to support us!
Really enjoy this quiet place. Whenever I have gone in the early afternoon on the weekend, it’s very quiet. They have a loyalty program with stamp cards. I enjoy the attention to making drinks and not attempting to serve multiple people at one time. I enjoyed my iced mocha made with oat milk. The matcha latte is unsweetened and very flavorful. I was very shocked to see the barista soft the matcha and then pull out a chasen before adding it to my cup. I haven’t seen that done since I was in Kyoto—I was impressed. They have good pastries, ample seating (with outlets), and the music is never too loud or distracting. Seating is a mixture of wooden benches, bar chairs, and regular chairs without arms. Will be a returning patron.
Great coffee, my latte was made just right. Place is super clean, staff very friendly, and I appreciate everyone wearing their masks.
A very cute neighbourhood teahouse. Has wireless, plugs on one side of the room, and a reasonable selection of drinks (only a few teas though). Well-lit and a good place for conversations, it also has a side room that's used very regularly for neighbourhood events. Be wary of the posted hours; events often cause it to either be open later or to semi-close earlier.
One of three coffee shops in walking distance from my apartment. Nice seating area, and snack variety. They have a small event space that's separated by a door.
Great kid friendly coffee shop near the parade grounds. We've enjoyed the sing-alongs and other kid activities on weekends. The Stumptown coffee and sandwiches from the local Italian grocery are a treat.
Was able to sit outside and enjoy my coffee in the sun today. Great coffee, safe serving environment. Good for takeaway or just relaxing in the sun on the pavement
Here's the thing. Lark is a great coffee shop. The quality of coffee is excellent, food fresh and atmosphere is pleasant for sitting for a while. Open for several years now, it's still one of the only modern coffee shops in the area. But they always seem to run out of bagels and other food items and their staff often gets orders mixed up. Their coffee lids leak as well. What's odd, is these, albeit minor issues, have never been fixed. My wife and I now expect there to be some "Lark story" about service or something. If this were improved, I'd give the place 5 stars. But for now, still a great 4 star coffee shop.
I like the cafe. I especially like that it's kid friendly and offers activities and music programs for small children. My only complaints: the baby changing tables in the bathroom have broken straps, which is unsafe, and I was told for months that refills are free, then suddenly charged for it. It's not technically a "refill" if I'm paying the same price again. Perhaps refills at $1, or half price, but full price is just buying another drink! Most of the staff are really kind. Hoping they start including vegan and gluten free food items soon.
A nice neighborhood coffee house. There is a separate playroom for children, and there are many power outlets, beneath the built in benches. Free Wi-Fi (the password is posted on the counter) They serve sandwiches, quiche and excellent baked goods, and very good coffee. The tables are small, but I've seen small groups gathered. No one has ever rushed me.
Great selection of coffee drinks, vegan pastries and food. Vegan chocolate chip cookie is delicious and the banana nut muffin was a little bit bland needed more pop. Cold brew was really good better than their chai latte, chai needs to be a bit stronger, when I make suggestions I make sure I elaborate.
whoever does their plants - wow, what a great job. how lovely. and they make great use of a small space. the coffee is Stumptown, yay! the Colson pastries are a little dry IMHO. there are vegan treats. the staff is nice.
People are wonderful. The smoothies are a bit overpriced. Lots of seats, but gets busy in the afternoons. Very cold due to the weather seeping in, likely weathering could help this out. No WiFi.
Nice neighborhood coffeehouse. Great environment to work from on a no-meeting day. The baristas are fast and the drinks are fantastic. I am taking one star away because I don't love the pastries but they aren't made in-house so that's to be expected.
Small coffee shop with standard drinks and some pre-made food items. There’s no real food prep area here so everything is bought-in. Many menu items were not available when we visited due to a missed delivery.
On the expensive side but not a shocker. I keep returning because I want to support local and small businesses. Sllllllooooooowwwww service every. time. Coffee is great. Mediocre food, stale avocado on my sandwich recently.
I tired a bagel with chicken salad it was pretty pricey ($10) and it could have been better although it had pickled onion and avocado it was unseasoned I had to add salt and pepper to it. For that price at least add that
I like their coffee (stumptown) and they have good pastries but today is the second time I have showed up at a time they claim to be open but its closed and no one is there. Also, depending which barista is working, some of them really don’t know how to make espresso drinks. It doesn’t seem like they put much thought into who they hire
They toasted my bagel without asking, but it's a nice place with good service and good atmosphere Update: This time they put a tiny amount of cream cheese on it and didn't even cut it in half. Together, these two incidents spell out general sloppiness.
Lark cafe is decent. It's really for people who go for coffee or tea. It's on the small side so not much seating and the prices are kind of steep. There's a small play area attached that can get crowded whenever a playgroup meets there but it's convenient for a cold/rainy day in a pinch. There's also a bathroom!
While I enjoyed the coffee, I didn’t enjoy that there is an additional $2 charge if you want less/no ice with your coffee. So I walked out. This is such a surprise to be in a neighborhood still gentrifying and having this charge. (How would most of the ppl in this neighborhood pay this? But when you see the customers, you know it’s only the people who can afford this.) I guess that’s how business works with crazy surcharges and that’s why I walked out. (Also, the ice is a cultural thing - most of us don’t want a cup of ice and hardly any coffee)
The matcha was alright. For being an expensive speciality drink, would have preferred thicker puréed strawberry syrup. And the matcha was not mixed well. Clumpy. The color was also not the vibrant green you would expect from matcha.
A quaint coffee shop with bench lined seats with plenty of tables. They also have a pretty good list of food and pastry items! I have been here a few times and the drinks have been good every time. The service is fast and staff is friendly. Can get really busy on weekends, but pretty fast turn around so there’s usually a table available. Update: came back here yesterday for a cold brew and was fairly disappointed. It tasted stale :(
Was there for story time with my babe. Did like the story time. The Floor matt is terrible it looks dirty and is too rough for infants to seat on. Will love to see it improved cleaner for lil ppl to seat on.
I ordered a cappuccino and he made me my coffe without foam and it was cold! The worst part was when they gave me the bagel with cream cheese and jam. The bagel has the Jam out of the bagel! My fingers were sticky for the jam. I thought it was a nice place to enjoy a cappuccino by I came out with a huge dissatisfaction!
I usually order an iced coffee and a bagel with butter from here for breakfast. I don't always open the bagel but this time I did and I found what looks like small strands of hair inside. I didn't have time do go back and speak to anyone but I'm pretty sure that's hair in my egg bagel. It was on both sides too. Typically my order is fine but I also don't always check the inside.
Loveeee the bagels, and used to really love the lattes, however, I think the quality of the espresso has changed a bit. Nonetheless, despite all of that, I enjoy coming here because it’s close to my local mosque and has more than enough seating. I come here often but the attitude of one of the workers is very unpleasant to deal with. I brushed it off a few times under the demise that perhaps they were having a bad day, however, I noticed their interactions with other customers of a different race, and those interactions are usually accompanied by “sweetie” and “boss” vs. my dismissive interactions. It’s a local business and as an avid supporter of local business, I’ll still frequent Lark but my experience needed to be mentioned.
I’ve been here so many times and it’s bizarre because their food and pastries are good, but the coffee is really really bad. Really nasty watery latte, the worst shot of espresso I’ve ever had, drip coffee nasty, cold brew full of grounds, etc. the chai latte is good but that’s just from a box. Really some of this is on me because I keep coming back to give the drinks another chance, but I have never had a coffee drink from there that I’ve even wanted to finish. Excellent service though and the folks are really nice.
I stopped patronizing this place several years ago after ownership changed and one of their counter people ripped me off on change for a $20. Desperate for a coffee, I decided to give them another chance today. Their coffee has not improved and neither has the attitude of their counter staff.
Called in a delivery order and didn't get the food when they said I'd have have . Waited for over an hr then when I finally got my food it was barely like warm and on top of it i didn't get what u ordered I was missing a sandwich. Then I was told they would bring it to me and never received it.
White man barista cold unwelcome person !!! Won’t recommend service from this guys!
I love coming here but the people behind the counter are rude and unfriendly. Always giving me dirty looks. I say thank you have a good day and they ignore you.
I just went today to Lark and it was 4:40 pm and the barista didn't wanna make me lattes because he just cleaned the espresso machine. I just left the shop but before leaving I asked him if this situation always happens ? He was like yes , always ! We close the espresso 20 minutes before closing. I guess this should be posted on your website and on Google too.
It was my regular spot for morning coffee. A guy gave me my coffee cup with a paper holder. I'm like, "Thank you, I don't need it, let's try to reduce waste." He replied, "we live in a wasteful society," and threw the holder to trash. Damn right, it's wasteful... You just wasted your customer
I have been coming to Lark for three years, buying at least 3 to 5 drinks a week and yesterday my full coffee fell right outside the cafe, partially because he didn’t put the lid on completely. I asked for a remake given the accident, and he charged me for half the drink. I have a regular here for years, and he is very familiar with me and yet he was incredibly rude and disrespectful, and his behavior also resulted in other people walking out and not buying anything After they saw the interaction.
